get you going on this warm day later on. so we'll start inland with the forecast. this is why we have the heat advisory today. it feels a lot warmer than yesterday. our hottest area is going well into the 90s, if not the mid and upper 90s. later on this afternoon with full sunshine away from the coast. now, right now we're dealing with partly cloudy conditions around the bay shoreline. the bay shoreline is not included in the heat advisory, but it will still feel warm out there. temperatures in the upper 70s to the lower 80s. for daytime highs along the coast, we have pretty cloudy conditions right now. we'll break for some sunnier skies by the afternoon, but it feels nice along the coast. we'll keep it in the mid 60s. let's check in with amanda. see those drive times this morning? >> hydra a few trouble spots. although our overall map is showing nothing really tying you up except for that drive through the altamont pass. but i do want to take you into the south bay. this is northbound 87 right before curtner avenue. you can see speeds down to ten miles per hour there. the left lane remains blocked after a solo crash that happened in the last hour. if you do want to avoid this area, you might want to

take city streets instead, just to get around that part of 87 and then hop back on if you can. but just this is in commute direction, so it is going to slow you down, especially as the commute hours start to tick up. let's get back to you, reggie. >> amanda. thank you. developing news this morning. president biden is isolating at his home in delaware after testing positive for covid. his medical team says he has been vaccinated and has all of the current annual booster doses. the president's doctor says he has received his first dose of paxlovid and his respiratory rate, temperature and pulse oximetry are normal. doctor david smith of uc san diego was involved in a 2022 study on paxlovid. >> it is specifically good for people who are older, so over the age of 65, the sooner that you start on that antiviral medication, the better. so we try to get it within at least the three days, within three days of symptoms. >> doctor smith says the drug prevents severe cases of covid. >> now mr. biden is facing more calls to leave the presidential race or at least consider it.

the latest calls are from some of his closest allies, including speaker emerita nancy pelosi. abc seven news reporter lena howland joining us live in lena. they recently had a one on one discussion about the election. >> kumasi. that's right. and this is something we've been seeing a lot more of in the aftermath of the debate between president biden and former president trump at the end of last month, more democrats calling on biden to step aside. a source tells abc news. former house speaker nancy pelosi went to biden a week ago about concerns over his candidacy. she warned other top lawmakers in the party would start to grow louder in the house. in in those calls to drop out of the race, and it is happening. abc news now reports senate minority leader chuck schumer met behind closed doors with president biden on saturday, saying it would be best if he dropped out of the race. here's abc's jonathan karl. >> one person who has been out there publicly defending biden told me just a short while ago,

tone in his speech in light of the assassination attempt, and it does look like he's taking that advice. we're told he has rewritten his acceptance speech, emphasizing a call for national unity. >> new details into the attempted assassination of donald trump, a timeline of the suspected shooter's movements shows authorities knew he was on the rooftop 20 minutes before he fired shots. video obtained by our sister station in pennsylvania shows who law enforcement believes is thomas crooks. before the shooting, he's seen walking as you can see here in this video, this is near the rally and at one point look toward the crowd. now, the fbi released this timeline. they said at 510, crooks first identified as a person of interest. at 530, he spotted with a range fighter. and that's something that's used to determine distances for target practice. he reportedly climbed air conditioning units to get on the roof. at 552, secret service spotted him on the roof 20 minutes before the shooting. at

602, trump took the stage at 612. crooks fired shots. a sniper killed crooks 26 seconds after the first shot was fired. a former fbi agent is questioning the timeline. >> he should have been eliminated one way or the other within 1 or 2 or three minutes. so the only thing i can come up with is just a total breakdown of communication, extensive preparation, secret service director kim cheatle is expected to testify on capitol hill monday, as she's facing calls to resign. >> a motive for the attack remains unclear. tonight is the final night of the republican national convention. abc news has complete live coverage starting at 7 p.m. right here on abc seven, new at six, starting tomorrow, oakland can move forward with clearing a small homeless encampment near the bay bridge. >> a federal judge just issued that ruling yesterday. residents who live in the camp requested an injunction to block the swee.

they claimed oakland officials violated the federal americans with disabilities act by not providing them with appropriate shelter or housing to accommodate people with disabilities ahead of time. remember last month's landmark supreme court ruling gives cities more freedom in clearing out encampments, a change in the san francisco police department's chase policy. >> the city's civilian police commission voted 5 to 2 to adopt a revised policy expanding the powers of police officers to chase suspects in their cars. it also okays the use of drones to track wanted vehicles. voters passed prop e back in march, relaxing certain police policie, and this is one of them now. tensions have been brewing between commissioners about the policies reporting requirement, which mandates annual stats from crashes and who's arrested. >> that would be a direction to the chief of police, but it would not be because prop e requires it and it's not required by law. >> so should it be in the dhiego

co-host a live debate with the top candidates. you can watch it live on september 25th at 6 p.m. >> developing news from overseas. a horrifying story out of bangkok, where six people were found dead at the grand hyatt hotel from suspected cyanide poisoning. the dead include two americans and four vietnamese nationals. traces of cyanide were found in teacups delivered by room service at the five star hotel. police are investigating whether a financial dispute may have motivated the deaths. deaths may also be a murder suicide. >> the murder of three year old ella lorenzo is raising questions over what went wrong. investigators say her father killed her during a court mandated visit over the weekend. her body was found at a recycling facility in san jose and her father was found dead by suicide following that missed custody exchange. the girl's mother said she desperately wanted constant supervision and

safety. when ellie had court ordered visits with her father. now we found court documents dating back to 2021, she said. the system continued to grant him partial custody and access. >> the mother was doing everything she could to keep her child safe from this father and the court was insisting that the father have unsupervised access, which led ultimately to the murder. so the court did not protect the court system, did not protect this child, even though they had what looks like multiple requests to do so. >> according to the mother, ellie's father was recently notified that she'd been granted permission to move out of california with ellie. her body was found four days later. >> today, the university of california board of regents is expected to vote on new restrictions for what staff can say on campus run websites. regions are meeting in san francisco this week, according to the chronicle, a committee

hear if the east bay's newest water shuttle is going to be in service today, on its first day. yesterday, the oakland alameda water shuttle service had to be halted because of a mechanical issue with the boat. now when it

they affect the mental health of young people have been under a microscope in recent years. now, researchers will have access to instagram data to study how the platform may play a role in possibly damaging its teen users. amanda is at the live desk with the details of this pilot program. amanda. >> hi kumasi researchers will have access to instagram data for up to six months. it may include information on how many accounts a teen follows, how often they use their app and their account settings. its parent company, meta, says it will not provide access to a user's demographic information or the contents of their posts, comments, or messages. researchers will recruit teen participants and, of course, get their parents permission. this program is in partnership with the center for open science or cos. kos says the study of data directly from instagram could help, quote, contribute to the understanding of wellbeing matters. vice president of research shared a statement with the verge. he says, quote, parents, policymakers, academics and technology companies are grappling with how best to
