week. we've been advertising that for you tomorrow, though. cooler air quickly rushes in here. temperatures right now it's pretty pleasant. mid 50s in the city, low 60s in san jose. good morning oakland. we're at 58 degrees 63. that current temperature in livermore will widen out the picture. and it's quite mild inland near 70 in brentwood right now. certainly in our hills in the north bay, we have some temperatures above 70 degrees this morning. so that's a launching pad to get us into a hot afternoon inland. so today we're back at or above 100 degrees inland. it is going to warm quickly today. realize that it gets hot pretty fast today. with that heat advisory in effect around the bay shoreline is quite warm today. lots of sunshine. we're going well into the 80s. upper 80s in a lot of our bay shoreline cities along the coast. we do have a little bit of cloud cover right now. we will get full sunshine, but certainly the coast is immune to any of this. heat will keep those temperatures in the mid 60s. let's check in with amanda. see those drive times this morning. yeah. good morning drew friday light here at 502. >> we are looking at a live look

from our south beach camera showing the bay bridge. everything moving at the limit there really no issue as you drive across the span into the city. our overall map a majority is green. of course, that typical slowdown through the altamont pass is the only issue. it is stop and go between stoneridge drive and bernal avenue, though due to road work there. also, a northbound 680 full road closure between koopman and bernal. it will reopen at 6 a.m, so in about 58 minutes. but ten miles per hour through that area in pleasanton. let's get back to kumasi. >> thanks, amanda. now to your voice. your vote. former president donald trump formally accepts the republican nomination for president. he gave his first speech since the assassination attempt on his life. abc news reporter perry russom tells us the other hot topics he addressed on the final night of the rnc. >> former president trump formally accepting the republican party's nomination for president trump on stage for the first time since the assassination attempt in pennsylvania. >> i had god on my side, trump

>> with the republican nomination now solidified, the democratic nomination may be in question. according to two people familiar with the conversations. former house speaker nancy pelosi has privately told some house democrats she believes president biden is more receptive to hearing calls to step aside, and those conversations could push him to make a decision soon. a top white house communications official calls the report of biden planning to withdraw fan fiction with the democrats in disarray, the republican party uniting behind trump, we will press forward and together we will win, win, win. all eyes now go from milwaukee to delaware, where president biden is recovering from covid. the democratic national convention is one month away in chicago. perry russom abc news, milwaukee. >> now let's get you to the i.t. malfunction that has crippled much of the world. overnight, a cybersecurity firm called crowdstrike is taking the blame. this morning, crowdstrike services, large corporations and government clients like global banks, health care systems and

utility companies. >> in a statement posted to x this morning, the ceo of crowdstrike writes, quote, crowdstrike is actively working with customers impacted by defect found in a single content update for windows host mac and linux hosts are not impacted. this is not a security incident or a cyber attack. the issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. >> perhaps most concerning in all of this is the impact to emergency services. the city of oakland says it is aware of the cybersecurity outage affecting jurisdictions worldwide. it issued a statement saying, quote, the impacts in oakland have caused many computers to become inaccessible and are being evaluated and responded to. now, oakland's 911 call lines remain active and open to receive emergency calls from the community. the city says people can continue to report emergencies by dialing 911. we have not heard from any other bay area cities about possible impacts, but of course we will let you know. the outage hitting airports and airlines this morning. overnight, united,

delta and american airlines grounded all flights at airports across the country. abc seven news reporter lena howland is live at sfo this morning with a look at the impact. lena, how's it looking so far? >> reggie not good. major disruptions are still going on here at sfo. and just take a look at the crowd here at the service counter for delta. this is one of the three major airlines that has been impacted. there are quite a few people waiting in line to hopefully get their flights rebooked after this major uh- incident. according to flightaware, they had 33 delays and more than 50 cancellations by 330 this morning here at sfo. i want to go now to a look at what things looked like here just before 1:00 in the morning. flight information display screens were down, frustrated passengers were seeing, waiting around, unable to even check a bag. as of about 430 our time, more than 540 flights across the country had been canceled, the faa said. the

airlines united american, delta and allegiant had all been grounded. we talked to one passenger who was supposed to be leaving for a trip to belize with a layover in houston when he wasn't even able to check his bag. >> we're pretty much just stuck here until we figure out what's next. i don't know how long it's going to be. it's been at least for a couple hours. we've been waiting, though, so we'll see what's next. i don't know, but yeah, we're stuck for a while. >> american airlines said they are back up and running as normal. other airlines haven't been so lucky. united said they are only resuming some flights and expect more disruptions throughout the day. in a statement from delta, the airline company said delta has paused its global flight schedule this morning due to a vendor technology issue that is impacting several airlines and businesses around the world. we are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible to resume operations. now, both

delta and united have said they are working to issue some travel wager travel waivers to help passengers get rebooked on different flights of course, today is going to be a one. today is a very important day to check your flight status before heading to any airport. live at sfo. lena howland abc seven news. >> thank you. lena will hop across the bay and take you to okay this morning with a live look at the airport. we do have partly cloudy skies here. our marine layer is very compressed, just limited fog this morning and that is going to create a very warm, if not hot afternoon out there later on on our friday 58. right now, that current temperature in oakland will have a good visibility reading. humidity is up and the winds are basically calm out there. let's get you going on this friday. if you're traveling over the next couple of hours, the weather really cooperating, we stay pretty calm and quiet. over the next six hours, we will have full sunshine and it will have temperatures warming to the 70s

pretty early this morning. in a lot of areas. those temperatures are going to take off pretty quickly today. so looking at the highs versus average map can't get enough of this graphic. temperatures today anywhere from ten to nearly 20 degrees above average. and we do expect our hottest cities. clearly you can see concord, santa rosa, livermore above 100 degrees later on today. so here's future weather, very limited fog out there. it gets warm quickly today as we head into the afternoon. we will find those temperatures hot inland above 100. similar story in the north bay. that's why the heat advisory is in effect. so highs today. it's warm in the city 76 but 82 in oakland, 92 in san jose, 101 in santa rosa. but hotter areas like concord take it easy out there. stay hydrated. stay cool. going to 104 this afternoon, reggie drew thank you. >> layoffs and a major shift in business operations. coming up the shop in san francisco's union square, which is going to go appointment only a crackdown on encampments. >> how soon bay area cities are planning to take action. >> probably the last thing you

san jose police officers located the suspect's vehicle shortly after wednesday night's robbery. investigators say they found a firearm and two loaded magazines in the car. when they stopped it. the puppy was later found safe at the suspect's home, along with two ar style rifles. >> there is a hunt for a giant rooster in campbell. the owner of california home and garden sent us this photo of a large metal rooster that was taken from the front of his store. it's about six feet tall, and employees have been wheeling it out for display at the winchester boulevard business for at least five years now. the owner says the thieves rolled it down the sidewalk and loaded it in a vehicle. it's valued at $5,000. >> another big retailer is making some major changes at its union square location in san

francisco. saks fifth avenue announced it's going to now be appointment only. the retailer claims this will improve the shopper experience. according to the chronicle, the major changes begin august 28th. saks fifth avenue also announced a round of layoffs. it's not clear how many employees are affected. the store didn't say why it's making these cuts or why it's moving to appointment only. >> san francisco mayor london breed says the city is planning to start a very aggressive sweep of homeless encampments next month. breed made the comment at a debate yesterday hosted by the san francisco firefighters union. our media partners at the sf standard were there and say breed applauded the supreme court's decision in june that allows cities to enforce rules restricting unhoused people from sleeping outside. breed says the city may start issuing criminal penalties for violations. an illegal encampment along the bay bridge won't be forced out just yet. the 8 to 10 unhoused people who've been living there on the coast for months, we're told they need to leave by today.

oakland confirmed they now have until tuesday to clear the premises, which is critical for some who are trying to figure out where else to go. >> it's been difficult in every every single city i've gone to, there's they don't have the resources. >> clearing out the encampments is one thing, but providing housing for those people is completely different. >> the senior manager at 211 alameda says the county is out of shelter beds for those people who have to clear the encampment. board of supervisors president nate miley says the county is working on creating sanctioned encampments. >> this morning, the oakland to alameda water shuttle will resume service after it was forced to stop service the same day it launched. we were there when free shuttle when this free shuttle made its debut wednesday morning, but was not able to complete all of its scheduled runs because of a mechanical issue. a spokesperson from the city of alameda tells us the vessel has been repaired and test runs are now complete. that

shuttle runs between oakland's jack london square and alameda, landing at 515 this morning. >> we're taking a look at our heat alerts today. we do have that heat advisory continuing for another afternoon. it's just telling you that listen to your body today, those that are most susceptible to the heat. you do want to take it easy out there. find ways to cool off. drink a lot of water out there because temperatures do rise a bit above average by 10 to 20 degrees this afternoon, so it will be hot out there. looking at the heat risk today. for a lot of us, we're in this orange shading that's a moderate heat risk, a two out of a for some pockets of major heat risk. those are the red you see on your screen. those are the areas that will find temperatures well above 100 degrees. so here we go in the south bay will be hot today 92 in san jose, 100 in morgan hill, 90 in cupertino, 90 redwood city. same in los altos, 80 for san mateo. but the coast is nice. in the 60s. wide range across the city today. sunset 68 downtown. we're at 76 south city. we're at 80. so we have a big range across san francisco today. thanks to the marine

layer 101 in santa rosa. it is hot today, 96 in napa, 100 in san rafael. but get close to that water and you'll find sausalito coming in at 76 degrees. if you're in the east bay today, it is warm, if not hot. 82 in oakland, 88, in fremont, castro valley, orinda at 90 degrees richmond. it's a warm one today at 86 and then inland. do take it easy out there. it's one day of these temperatures above 100 degrees. but it can be intense at times. 104 in concord, 104 in walnut creek hit about 102. in livermore overnight. tonight, we'll find clouds continuing along the coast to some patchy fog around the bay shoreline. look at some of these overnight lows staying in the 60s, so mild air stays with us tonight. but tomorrow cooler air really moves in in a big way. so heat advisories are done. tomorrow. temperatures are some 10 to 15 degrees cooler. that feels nice. it's a similar story on sunday. sunday is looking beautiful. but then next week we're likely going to start another warming trend that will last for several days. here's the accuweather seven day forecast hot inland today. if that heat advisory. the weekend looks fantastic.

seven story hospital will be at the same location. >> and number five, get ready for a hot afternoon heat advisories are in effect again today. today is the hottest day of the week. those areas shaded in orange have a moderate to major heat risk. this afternoon, so we have a wide range of temperatures hit the coast to get that relief from the heat. but inland it is a scorcher above 100. later this afternoon. >> and number six a live look at the crowded commute on the east shore. freeway headlights are heading west 28 minutes from highway four to get to the city. at this hour. >> number seven a boom for netflix. the los gatos company says membership grew by more than 16% in the last quarter, compared with last year. that was mostly driven by its ad supported subscriptions. >> air india passengers currently stranded in siberia are expected to finally make it to san francisco today. the airline said it is sending a relief flight to pick them up after their flight from new delhi made an emergency landing in russia. the cockpit crew found a technical issue in the

boeing 777 cargo hold two hours into their flight yesterday, air india says it worked with russia officials so the passengers could stay at hotels overnight. by the way, this is not related to the cybersecurity issue that we are still dealing with. this morning. >> in today's gma first look in oklahoma family speaking out about their nightmare experience being left behind in alaska by norwegian cruise line. here is abc news reporter andrew dymburt in this morning's gma first look. >> a dream cruise turned nightmare. when you talk about cruise nightmares, this is the definition of it. nine members of the galt family were aboard a cruise to alaska and stepped off the boat for a lumberjack excursion. they booked through the cruise line. they say when they tried to get back to the ship, the local tour operator told them there was no room on the bus. >> hey, you know, bus is full. you got to wait for the next bus. >> they say they called the local port agent who rushed them to the ship, only to see it already pulling away from the dock, their belongings and some

of their passports still on board. they say they had to cover their own food and hotel, and find their own way back to oklahoma. >> it was completely overwhelming. probably the hardest thing i've ever done. >> coming up at 7 a.m, we'll have much more of our interview with the galt family, what the cruise line is doing now, and what experts say. you shouldn't leave a cruise ship without with your gma first look. i'm andrew dymburt, abc news, new york. >> here's something you definitely don't want to see if you're out boating georgia couple captured this video of a large group of alligators swimming through a swamp. they estimate there are 50 to 60 in this area, and officials estimate this park is home to 12,000 alligators. they say the warmer weather means alligators are more active right now, and a warning for anyone looking to visit santa cruz in monterey. authorities are telling beachgoers to swim at your own risk after several seals were attacked by a shark. news reporter felix cortez is in pacific grove, where this happened. >> notice being given to swimmers, kayakers, paddle boarders swim at your own risk

after five harbor seals were attacked by a shark or sharks in pacific grove, and so any time we see that and we see multiple ones, we like to set out an advisory to the swimmers in the local areas just to protect them and let them know that we've seen this. >> now, the shark may not even be in the waters here anymore. >> those monitoring the harbor seal population say five of them were attacked in the last month, four of them in the last two weeks alone. monitors say they usually only see one attack a month. thus, the reason for the shark advisory. >> that's why we decided to send out the a little alert to the community that just be on the lookout and make sure that you're aware when you're out there swimming or even in a kayak, just know what's around you. >> the shark is believed to be a great white. the advisory limited the social media only. no beach warnings have gone up

because police say no sharks have been spotted and there have been no human encounters. but the concern is still there. >> absolutely. we don't want to have the same. the repetition that we had a few years back with an attack right here out in the bay, so hopefully everyone will stay safe and the sharks will go do their thing and we'll do ours. >> two years ago, a swimmer was nearly killed when he was attacked by a great white off pacific grove. and just four months later, a surfer was knocked off his board after a great white bumped it. >> well, i think that that's just kind of what we have to be aware of when we're around the ocean, but i think people just have to be cautious, stay in groups, don't do anything foolish. and keep your eye on the water at all times. >> felix cortez ksbw, action news eight. >> a landmark hospital in the east bay. coming up at 530. we're getting

afternoon. today will be hotter than yesterday. our heat advisory continues for one more afternoon. and this is just telling you to listen to your body today. stay hydrated, stay cool. as we find those above average temperatures rebounding this afternoon. look at our current temperatures in our hills right now. it is quite warm 71 right now in the oakland hills. we're at 85 atop hood mountain, atlas peak near 80. so you can clearly see there is mild air overhead right now. and this will allow us to quickly warm as that warmer air moves around us this morning. so looking at highs inland today it is going to be quite hot. we're back at 100 degrees. i think our hottest cities inland are right around 103 104. this afternoon. that's how we have that heat advisory in effect for those hot areas around the bay shoreline. it is going to be a warm to hot afternoon as well. you notice we're pretty clear out there this morning so will warm very quickly. you definitely want your summer weather gear, the shorts, the t shirt, the hat, the shades, even the sunscreen. highs in the upper seconds later on today. but of course, the coast, immune to the intense

heat, will find sunshine this afternoon. certainly our beaches are going to be popular today with highs only in the mid 60s. let's check in with amanda and see those drive times. this morning. >> yeah. good morning drew. we do have a mass transit alert for those who rely on ac train. train one is late because of train traffic. it will put you back about 15 to 20 minutes in that delay, and then a live look from our golden gate bridge. cam, you don't see any cars really. nothing in your way. as you head into or out of the city. the overall map showing you that typical slowdown on the altamont pass, also on 680 due to some road work that's expected to clear up in about 30 minutes. but i do want to take you into san francisco. so low crash in the center. divide southbound 101 after bayshore boulevard. luckily, no real slowdown at this hour. just be mindful if you're heading south back to you. reggie >> thanks, amanda. president biden continues to recover from covid. his doctor says the president has mild upper respiratory symptoms and is on paxlovid, the biden campaign trolled a supporter soon after the president was diagnosed with covid wednesday. as you can see,

this post on x began with the line i'm sick and then minutes later, they continue the post with i'm sick of elon musk and his rich buddies trying to buy this election. and if you agree, pitch in here. apparently that post was very successful. a campaign official says it was one of the campaign's best social media fundraising posts in more than a year, although they declined to say how much was raised. meanwhile, the president is facing more calls to step aside. congressman jim costa, who represents the fresno area, said in a statement that it's time to, quote, pass the torch so what if president biden does decide to exit the race? here's abc seven news insider phil matier on what could happen next. >> who would be your pick? you mentioned kamala harris. if biden were to step aside, i wouldn't have a pick. >> i would just say this, that she is the front runner because she is the vice president. he can't anoint her, but he can say, i endorse her or he can release his delegates and they make it. she would have the

right to put it together the first time. if she can get it on the first vote, it's hers. if she can't, everybody's going to be in the mix. >> the list of democrats who want the president to reconsider his reelection campaign is growing. we're now learning that former president barack obama has privately expressed concerns to allies about biden's candidacy. we're only about a month away from the democratic national convention. that will be august 19th to the 22nd in chicago and abc will host the next presidential debate that is set for september 10th. it's unclear if or when the vp candidates will debate an election day is november 5th. >> now to local politics. all week we've been talking to the candidates running for mayor of san francisco. supervisor asha safai joined us in studio to explain why his approach to combating crime is investing more in community policing. >> we're down officers right now, but we're not down the willpower. and what i put forward this past january was to

released research finds that increased enforcement of disorderly conduct like panhandling and loitering, can lower crime by 26. criminologists, though, warn against the long term effects of over policing. >> when they don't trust the police, they don't call 911 to report crimes. they might take matters into their own hands and initiate retaliatory violence. they might not cooperate with ongoing investigations when people don't trust the police, the work of the police becomes that much more challenging. >> studies have shown that other measures like improving street lighting and cleaning up litter and graffiti, can also lower crime and improve the public's sense of safety. the most recent fbi report says property crime and violent crime are down 15% in the us this year. >> this morning we are tracking that major tech malfunction that had ripple effects around the world. it happened late last night, probably after you went to bed, but the ceo we're learning for cybersecurity firm crowdstrike says they are taking

responsibility. it's a defect in a single content update for windows. now the issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed. but last night this caused a huge meltdown. a lot of computers went to that dreaded blue screen of death, and the biggest impact has been at airports. abc seven news reporter lena howland live. this morning at sfo with a look at how things are going there. and lena, i know you're talking to some passengers who i can imagine are really frustrated right now. >> yeah. kumasi. that's right. we have been talking to quite a few passengers that are frustrated, unable to check a bag, and unable to get rebooked on their flights. if you take a look right here behind me, this is the delta ticket counter and we can't even see the end of the line right here. it's not moving much at all. all of these people are trying to get rebooked on flights that have since been canceled overnight. now, according to flightaware, sfo had more than 40 delays and nearly 70 cancellations so far this morning. i want to go now

to a look at what things looked like. just before 1:00 this morning. flight information display screens were down, frustrated passengers were seen waiting around, unable to even check a bag. as of about 5:00 our time, more than 1000 flights across the country had been canceled, with american and delta the most impacted moments ago. i talked to a passenger here from australia. he's been stranded for 12 hours after his flight from sydney landed just before 5 p.m, and he was supposed to be on a flight to miami by 1130 last night. but it got canceled. he's been waiting to get rebooked ever since. >> yeah, like i'm frustrated. that's for sure. but, what could happen, right? i mean, i didn't realize it was the outage. that's what my friends in canada told me about the outage when i was ringing him saying, i'm going to come up there and said, but, yeah, look, disappointed. obviously it's a long way from australia to the us to start with, which sucks.

>> american airlines said they are back up and running as normal ever. other airlines have not been so lucky. united said they are only resuming some flights and expect more disruptions throughout the day. in a statement from delta, the airline company said delta has paused its global flight schedule this morning due to a vendor technology issue that is impacting several airlines and businesses around the world. we are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible to resume operations both delta and united said that they are working to issue travel wage travel waivers to passengers to help them get rebooked on different flights. of course, this is a very important morning to check your flight status before heading to the airport. live at sfo lena howland, abc seven news. >> thank you lena. well, perhaps most concerning of all is the impact to emergency services. the city of oakland says it's aware of the cybersecurity outage affecting jurisdictions worldwide, and it issued a statement saying the impacts in

oakland have caused many computers to become inaccessible and are being evaluated and responded to. now, oakland's 911 call lines are still active and open to get emergency calls from the community. the city says people can continue to report emergencies by dialing 911. abc news reporter aaron katersky has more on how emergency response systems across the country have been impacted. >> like many industries, the nation's police and fire services, especially in the big cities, have gone high tech. they are reliant on systems they do not control. and this morning they're returning to old school, low tech methods, dispatching, using radios and the telephone. that's not going to be crippling, but it could slow things down in a way the public isn't used to. computers at the justice department were told are affected, and so far there's no indication, though it's affecting law enforcement activities in the field. here in new york, the mayor's office says the city is assessing the impact emergency operations, including 9-1-1, are not affected, but it is guys, a

me. >> marin county's urban search and rescue team is looking for survivors following a major earthquake in point reyes. >> we simulated an 8.2 magnitude earthquake. just devastating. devastating. the duration could be anywhere from 10s to a minute of shaking. >> this drill as real as it gets. team members cutting through concrete rubble and shattered glass to reach crushed cars, some simulated victims are pulled to safety. >> we are entering building six to do a primary search. >> i copy entering 3-6 for primary search. >> this victim had to be hoisted out of a building in a stretcher basket. >> the goal of this program is to get boots on the ground in the quickest, most efficient manner possible to rescue the most amount of people possible. search and rescue. >> call out if you can hear me. >> the training skills at work here could mean the difference between life and death during a real disaster. the governor's office of emergency services is observing the drill, assessing how this team does. our mantra in the fire service is

most polluted beaches in the state. linda mar beach in pacifica, along with lakeshore park in san mateo, are the only bay area beaches on heal the bay's most polluted list. the report says. both locations have pollution caused by urban runoff. ratings for beaches in marin, san francisco and sonoma counties range from 86 to 96, all east bay beaches got above average grades. people opposing the partial closure of san francisco's great highway gathered for a protest. some people who live nearby drove in a caravan yesterday to demonstrate against a november ballot measure that would permanently close the great highway between slosser boulevard and lincoln way. many sunset district residents say drivers used neighborhood streets to go around the closure that causes congestion and nois. >> it's very disruptive to the elderly people who are trying to put their kids to sleep, people trying to walk in the neighborhood and it happens as soon as it's closed. it's not like it doesn't happen all weekend. it happens all weekend.

inland. this is where we have those pockets of major heat risk, because those temperatures almost 20 degrees above average today, 104 in walnut creek, the same in concord, the same in brentwood, hitting 101 in san ramon overnight tonight, we'll keep those coastal clouds some patchy fog around the bay shoreline. i think the bigger story overnight tonight we have some mild air that will linger in. a lot of our cities will stay in the 60s heading into saturday. now, saturday afternoon, you're going to notice that cooler air really moving in here. we rid ourselves of that triple digit heat temperatures mainly in the 70s and 80s around the bay shoreline. still warm inland with our hottest areas in the low 90s. but we'll continue to cool off on sunday. sunday, the cooler of the two days before we start to heat back up next week. here's the accuweather seven day forecast heat advisory today. it's hot out there, but then that cooler weather moves in here for saturday and sunday both days. expect morning clouds to sun and then next week we'll talk about that heat returning inland. we'll have several days of those numbers above 100 degrees, guys.

police suspect they drank tea laced with cyanide, and a woman with oakland ties could be involved. abc seven news reporter suzanne fawn explains her possible connection inside a grand hyatt hotel suite in bangkok. >> authorities found plates of food uneaten. they also found empty tea cups. authorities also found bodies all around the hotel suite, according to polic, traces of cyanide were found in

teacups at the five star hotel. bangkok's deputy police chief says six people died from apparent poisoning. police are investigating whether a financial dispute may have motivated the deaths. four of them were vietnamese nationals. two were vietnamese americans, including cherie chong of oakland, who was 56 years old. property records link chong to a three story home in oakland seems crazy. next door neighbor steve truman says it was around 6 p.m. wednesday when he saw several people show up in front of the home connected to chong. >> there was a van and a police, and it looked like an undercover police officer here looking up that way. and i had no idea what was going on. >> truman doesn't recognize chong's name or photograph. truman says a large asian family lives in the home right next door to him, and they're related to the family that live in the house right behind truman. he's stunned to hear about the local thai to suspected cyanide poisoning. >> oh, absolutely. >> other neighbors don't remember seeing chong, either. do you recognize this woman? >> no. >> sad as tragic. but it's on the other side of the world.

>> and granted, the person that died is connected to this. >> bangkok police say they believe that one person in the group administered the poison to others. they found that chong was alone in the room when the teen food were delivered, and that video shows the rest of the party arriving shortly after. family of the two victims also told police that they had invested nearly $280,000 to other members of the party, and they were all meeting up to sort out their financial issues. the investigation is still underway in oakland. suzanne vaughn, abc seven news. >> the fda and the ftc issued warnings to five companies. the agency say are making drug laced products that look too similar to popular kids products. it's a part of a joint effort to crack down on illegal sales. federal officials say the thc infused copycats can be easily mistaken for classic snacks like chips ahoy or hot cheetos, and that could lead to young people accidentally eating the edibles. delta eight thc is the main psychoactive ingredient that produces the high in marijuana

products the fcc might make it easier to switch phone carriers. yesterday, the federal communications commission put forth a proposal that would require all mobile phone service providers unlock customers phones within 60 days of activation. it hasn't been determined if the rule would apply to existing wireless contracts. the fcc will allow schools and libraries to loan out wi-fi hotspots to families who don't have internet access at home. >> netflix is ditching its cheapest ad free plan, the one that cost $12 a month. customers will have to bump up to the standard ad free plan. the price is 1550 or a premium is $23. a cheaper $7 a month option is still available. that one has ads. >> a record number of people watched tv through streaming platforms last month. nielsen reports that it went up to 40% of all tv usage in june. that's a 6% jump from may. cable is 27, broadcast is 20.5. the platforms that are seeing the most growth
