heading to wisconsin to a campaign rally that was scheduled before sunday's news of president biden dropping out of the race. so now this will be her her first official campaign stop. it comes as democrats unify behind the bay area native, the vice president has already secured enough support to become the democratic party's new presumptive presidential nominee, abc news reports. she raised nearly $100 million since entering the race sunday. over 28,000 volunteers have already signed up. yesterday, she stopped at the harris campaign headquarters. president biden called in while still isolating at his home in delaware. he is recovering from covid. >> the name has changed at the top of the ticket, but the mission hasn't changed at all. and by the way, i'm not going anywhere. i'm going to be out there in the campaign with her, with kamala. >> in another sign of his improving condition, we're told president biden will be back at the white house later today. >> california's delegates were unanimous in pledging their support for vice president

be up to the alameda county district attorney to decide if any action should be taken back to you. the desk. >> thanks, amanda. today we could see some activity off to the side of the bay bridge near the toll plaza. the city of oakland plans to clear out an illegal encampment along the eastern coastline. 8 to 10 homeless people have lived there for months. oakland has ordered them out because if they don't leave the city faces fines from the san francisco bay conservation and development commission. alameda county is reportedly working on creating sanctioned encampments. >> 5-10 this morning, we're looking at today's forecast, and you can see we continue that wide range of temperatures. our inland heat wave rolls on for another day. look at concord today. we'll hit about 102 for a daytime high under partly cloudy skies. the excessive heat warning is in effect there. oakland san francisco a lot cooler, but still warmer than average in the 70s. and then the coast. we'll keep it comfortable in the mid 60s for the day today. here's live doppler seven along with satellite. you can see this clockwise motion around

eligible for reimbursement back to you the desk. >> thanks, amanda. new developments for the proposed city being called california forever in solano county. the company behind it says it's pulling its plan from the november ballot. the announcement came as county officials were preparing to hold a public meeting today to review an independent study on the impact of the proposal. the 157 page report cited major concerns with the plan. now, the california forever group says they'll do more research and work with the county to create an environmental impact report. >> we're going to line up all of these approvals, do the work with the county, have additional input and then bring it back to the voters for one big approval. >> california forever expects to put the measure back on the ballot in 2026. the project would create space for about 400,000 residents in eastern solano county, near fairfield. >> what happens when you give people money for free? a three year study conducted by bay area tech executive sam altman is ou,

willow street. that's an alleyway off of van ness in the city's tenderloin neighborhood. now, this is surveillance video of the man police say was shot by an officer. they say they were called to investigate a report of an armed robbery that occurred on mcallister street before the shooting. a witness says that he heard the commotion and describes what happened after he heard a volley of gunfire. >> he just kind of stayed there and eventually they, like a swarm of police, just ran over and kind of tackled him and i think they took a gun from him, or he was armed or something like that. >> police officers association says the suspect fired at pursuing officers when police shot back, mortally wounding the unidentified man. >> a community members and family gathered yesterday to honor the birthday of a man fatally shot by san francisco police officers in 2015, mario woods would have turned 35 years

old. those who knew him lit candles and shared a birthday cake in front of a mural painted in his honor. his shooting death brought controversy and scrutiny about how officers handled the situation. >> the black and brown community came together. uprise demanded questioning authority, and i think that's important to understand is how we make changes. we question authority. we take it to the front steps. >> an investigation found woods was armed with a knife and had slashed a victim without reason before the encounter with police. new this morning, a bipartisan task force will investigate the attempted assassination of donald trump. it will be made up of seven republicans, six democrats. more lawmakers are pushing to impeach the head of the secret service. a man is at the live desk with the details of the task force and this runoff hearing yesterday on capitol hill. yeah. >> no kidding. reggie. house speaker mike johnson and house minority leader hakeem jeffries announced the task force only moments ago. they say the task force will be empowered with subpoena authority, and will move quickly to find the facts and ensure accountability.

secret service director kimberly cheadle is being heavily criticized for not providing enough answers about security failures. south carolina. south carolina congresswoman nancy mace filed an impeachment resolution against cheadle hours after the hearing yesterday. >> have you provided all audio and video recordings in your possession to this committee? as we asked on july 15th? yes or no? i would have to get back to you. that is a no. >> cheadle is facing bipartisan calls to resign. she called the assassination attempt the, quote, most significant operational failure in decades. >> on july 13th, we failed. i take full responsibility for any security lapse of our agency. >> cheadle revealed a local swat team spotted the suspected shooter on the roof of that warehouse, 18 minutes before donald trump took the stage. >> she says the secret service was alerted between 2 to 5 times about a suspicious person. but for the first shot was fired.

but cheadle says the man was not considered a threat until seconds before the shooting. as for why no security personnel was on that roof, cheadle suggested the slope of the roof posed a safety concern. cheadle vowed not to resign, saying she's the best person to lead the secret service at this time. multiple investigations have been launched into the security failures. back to the desk. >> thanks, amanda. in the north bay, the nevada unified school district wants parents to think twice before giving their kids smartphones. the district considering promoting the wait until eighth pledge parents will be asked to promise to withhold smartphones from students until they get to the end of eighth grade. this follows a group of girls assaulting another student at sonoma middle school in may. video of that assault was posted on social media. marin county superintendent of schools said that he supports the pledge. last year, his office sued several social media companies, claiming they were contributing to an increase in mental health disturbances among young people.

notice there stretching across the bay. our marine layer is very disorganized this morning. that's what you would expect as high pressure is in control. looking at the accuweather headlines, our inland heat wave continues for the next two days. today is the hottest day, not only inland, but across the entire region. by the end of the week, we're talking about a significant cooldown on the heels of some gusty winds in our marine layer returning. and that means by the weekend, a lot of sunshine in the afternoon. but it will be below average, something we haven't said in quite some time. we're going to finish the month with temperatures below average. we're going from hot to not so to speak. today it is quite warm out there, temperatures well above average, but by friday much cooler air moves in here. so the difference between today and the end of the week close to 20 degrees cooler in our hottest area. so the cooler air is coming. it's just going to take a couple more days. how to save the week is today 90s in the south bay along the peninsula will be in the 80s, but 60s along the coastline across the city. it's a mix of 60s and 70s warmer. as you head towards
