parents in the east bay just found out their kids school is closing for repairs. students at stege elementary school in richmond are being relocated for the start of the school year. the west contra costa county school district says environmental hazards were discovered during summer repair work. it's not clear yet where students will go to class when the school year begins. next month. the closure comes as the school district is facing a first in the state lawsuit, calling out dangerous facilities and chronic staffing shortages at stege and other campuses. >> much of our reporting is focused on building a better bay area, so when our communities test out possible solutions to some big problems, we want to see how they work and a new report shows the impact of two of san francisco's programs to take some work off police officers plates. the focus is on the city's street crisis response team, helping people experiencing mental health crisis and the street overdose response team handling, of course, drug overdoses. both programs redirect certain 911

this cool down. the high pressure system that had brought us the heat wave, the last several days is sliding eastward trough of low pressure, bringing a cooling influence from up in the pacific northwest is diving down in our direction, and it's already generating a cooling onshore flow there. the breezes were a bit more vigorous early in the evening, but the air is cooler and we're going to see a return of the marine layer, which provides cooling overnight and keeps the daytime weather from heating up too much. right now, the 24 hour temperature change shows that most locations almost all, in fact, are two, four, or five degrees cooler than they were at this time last night. looking out over san francisco from sutro tower. check out the current temperature reading 63 degrees in the city right now. oakland 67. we have low 70s at hayward, san jose, redwood city at 61 at half moon bay. nice view from mount tam looking down onto the bay and on to san francisco. notice just a little thin sliver of some ocean moisture moving out over the bay, but no marine layer developing yet. 62 degrees right now in santa rosa, petaluma, 5768 at napa and mid to upper 70s at fairfield,

concord and livermore. even those what were hot inland areas today are cooling down right now. and these are our forecast headlines. today's heat advisory has expired. the cooling is beginning already. tomorrow and friday will be breezy and much cooler than these last couple of days. and over the weekend we'll have even below average temperatures as the cooling continues. even then and into early next week. overnight, we'll see a little bit of a marine layer developing, pushing locally out over the bay and sort of lingering along the coastline and there'll be pockets of drizzle offshore not likely to move on land and produce any wet weather in the morning. overnight, low temperatures will be generally in the upper 50s to low and mid 60s. high temperatures tomorrow low 60s at the coast, mid 70s to up to about 80 degrees around the bay shoreline. inland areas will still be warm, low to mid 90s in many locations where we've had triple digits the last several days. and here is the accuweather seven day forecast. and notice how that those temperatures just drop, drop, drop going into saturday when we'll have below average temperatures. actually, inland
