everything, but we got them all out and we're just. we're happy. we saved all the lives we could. >> dozens of homes and structures destroyed as the park fire continues to burn out of control near chico. good afternoon. thanks for joining u. i'm larry beil, and i'm kristen z. >> massive wildfires are burning out of control in the west, and they've turned deadly. right now, more than 60 wildfires are raging across california, oregon and utah. >> want to give you the breaking news right now, because a new fire just started in the east bay, and you could see the smoke. residents in parts of concord and bay point, north of highway four have received evacuation orders. this is a live look from sky seven over that scene. flames are burning on évora road in bay point. that's putting off all the smoke cal fire says about 25 acres have burned so far, and we have some video from a short time ago of a nearby neighborhood, and we pull that up. you can see the plume of white smoke there. we'll keep you updated on the situation with this fire and all the others, because there's a lot of them that have broken

out. >> but let's check in and get another look. here's another live picture. looking at it, you can just see the smoke that we're talking about from bay point and also the dark black charred area. so this has grown pretty quickly. so we'll want to know the wind situation hopefully not spreading the fire. let's check in with abc seven news weather anchor spencer christian spencer. >> yeah, chris, it might be a good idea to keep that video up there that a live i might add because right now, look, we're looking at conditions near the fire 91 degrees relative humidity is dangerously low. only 10%. now let's talk about the winds. the steady winds are out of the west at nine miles per hour. so the regular the steady winds are not very strong, but the gusts are up to 20mph. and right now it's pretty hard to tell from this angle which direction the smoke is moving in. but if the wind is out of the west, i would guess the smoke is moving generally toward the east, and right now, again, 91 degrees. so it's quite warm out there. and i think it's relative humidity, which is the
4:02 pm
biggest factor right now in this containing this fire because it's so dangerously dry. there as the winds, if the winds get stronger, of course i'll let you know. but at the moment that's what we have out of the west at nine, gusting to 2091 degrees. center. >> and now to the major fire that's burning near chico in butte and tehama counties. >> the park fire has burned more than 178,000 acres. and it's just 3% contained right now. >> abc seven news reporter melanie woodrow joining us live in the studio with the latest. mel. >> larry and kristen. the park fire has exploded in size northeast of chico. the area that it's burned is more than 250mi■!s. that's five times the size of san francisco, with thousands of buildings threatened. and at least 134 burned in the park, fire has destroyed more than 100 residential and commercial buildings. in addition to burning brush, timber and
4:03 pm
vegetation, evacuation orders are in place. officials say they believe the fire began with arson. the butte county da's office says a man was arrested for allegedly pushing a burning car into a gully. officials think the fire spread from there. this dc ten air tanker is just one of the many tools cal fire is using to help fight the fire. >> we are part of that wheel that gets it all done, but we are supporting the guys on the ground. they are the key people. >> cal fire is able to extend the air fight beyond sunset thanks to night vision goggles, allowing crews to attack fires when they tend to be less active. it's a very synergistic where we have to have everybody moving together and coordinating, you know, at the right time. the fire has been exhibiting extreme behavior. time lapse video shows a fire whirl yesterday, a tornado like vortex of smoke that can send embers soaring far ahead of the fire. it's extremely dangerous and a sign of just how intense the park fire is. an evacuation center has been set up in chico, and animal shelters opened in oroville. the park fire, highlighting what has already been a busy fire season. cal
4:04 pm
fire says in a typical year, fire season ramps up from august through october. this fire season started in june and it has not slowed down. melanie woodrow, abc seven news thank you melanie. >> the park fire is so big you can see the smoke from space on this satellite image. it's definitely keeping firefighters busy. abc news reporter jacqueline lee is in butte county with that part of the story. >> we've been here all day long at base camp, which is where firefighters from all over the state of california are coming to chico to try to help fight the park fire. so, as you can see behind me, the plume of smoke has continued to grow in size as a result of the park fire continuing to grow in size. this is a massive fire that has just burned so quickly. we're hearing about 5000 acres an hour now. the fire crews initially were out on the scene for 36 hours fighting these fires. that's because they were just initially sent to fight it, and no one could have predicted how explosive the growth had been as a result of the sheer size,
4:05 pm
making this the largest wildfire in california that california has seen currently this year. now they're needing a lot more resources, a lot more manpower to try to help fight this fire. so we're seeing crews coming up from southern california. we're seeing them come from all around having fought different fires now trying to attack the park fire. these firefighters say their number one goal is just trying to contain it. and of course, they want to put it out as soon as possible. >> all right. let's check back in with spencer. christian. yeah. >> spencer, what's the weather looking like for firefighters there? >> well, it's not very encouraging in the area of that fire. let's take a look at our satellite image once again because this is worth giving a second look. and you can see how massive the plume of smoke is that's being generated by the park fires moving generally toward the northeast out generally towards susanville, but a little bit farther to the north. so it's moving from the northern sacramento valley into the northern sierra foothills. and we'll move along and give you a look at the red flag warning for high fire danger. here's a look at conditions there. right now. the sustained
4:06 pm
winds are under 20mph, but the gusts are up to 30mph. and that's a pretty strong gust, which makes the firefighting effort even more challenging. relative humidity is so low, 10 to 15%. so that's dangerously dry. and of course, that means increased fire danger. this red flag warning is in effect until 11:00 tonight. but with the conditions we have now and the limited amount of containment that that red flag warning may be extended beyond 11:00 tonight. once again, back to the fire, because i want to show you again the direction in which the smoke is moving, because there's been a lot of concern here in the bay area about whether the smoke from the park fire might affect air quality here in the bay area at the moment is having no impact at all because it's moving away from our region. so we're looking right now in the bay area at moderate to good air quality. and, if things remain the way they are now, we're likely to continue to have this moderate to good air quality here in the bay area. i'll have our full accuweather seven day forecast a little bit later. larry and kristen. >> all right. thank you spencer.
4:07 pm
>> all right. so we are talking about that breaking news again. this one in bay point. this is the evora fire which is burning close to the highway four area where there are now evacuations for residents in parts of concord and bay point. just north of highway four. yeah. >> i want to get an update now from captain christopher toller with contra costa fire on the one that we're talking about burning at bay point. captain, first of all, thanks for joining us. really appreciate your time. i know you just arrived at the scene, so it's probably a little bit hectic, but what is the situation as you know it to this point? >> at this point, we got initial reports of 120 acre fire uh- here in bay point between bay point and concord off of évora road, it's pretty dynamic situation right now. the fire's moving pretty, pretty fast because the winds have picked up this late in the afternoon. but we have cal fire, along with all the, contra costa county fire crews on scene, we do have an area in bay point that we are evacuating at this point, there there's structures threatened
4:08 pm
there. so we're trying to get our citizens out of there and get them to a safe location. >> can you tell us about how many homes and from these aerials we can see there are subdivisions really close to where the fire is burning, where all the thick smoke is, how many homes, how many residents are we talking about? >> i don't have that number, so i don't want to speculate on that, i do know that we have, issued a warning, and the homeowners in that area or the residents in that area can go to the contra costa county cw website and see the zones that are under mandatory evacuation. and also, take a look at the zones that will be evacuated or under a warning right now. >> so, captain, the live shots and video that we've been showing here for the past few minutes, it seems like there's fires burning left. there's fires burning, right, and a bunch of spot fires that i assume are being caused by the winds carrying embers. and we have some shots of people that are on the ground with fire hoses trying to it's kind of,
4:09 pm
you know, trying to go from one spot to another spot to another spot to get to get the little ones so they don't become larger. >> correct? correct, those people that you see in with those hoses are, cal fire or, contra costa county fire firefighters. >> so they're doing their best, in this as i said, this fast moving situation with the winds and, these, really dry, flashy fuels that are lighting off, seeming, it seems like, you know, you know, in a moment's notice. so they're doing the best they can, and they're actually doing a great job, the most important thing is protecting our residents and making sure those structures are, protected. so most of the crews are on that side of the fire, because that's where it's moving, and we want to make sure we get our folks, out to a safe location. >> i assume it's too soon to tell what started this, >> we don't know yet, fire investigators will be on scene later. but our main focus right now is getting it out and getting our our community to a
4:10 pm
safe location. >> are you getting aerial support for this? is this necessary for such a fire, >> we are, cal fire is on scene, >> we have their full support in the air, so they're doing drops as we speak, and i know you can't see it right now, but we're showing a map of the evacuation area that's highlighted in red for this fire that's burning in bay point. >> what direction? thank you. yeah. what direction is the wind blowing at this point? >> so the winds out of the west, i don't know exactly. i haven't gotten the meteorology report just yet, but it is moving. it is traveling east. the fire is traveling east, so the wind will be out of the west, pushing the fire east. >> can you just clarify if this is a evacuate if you're in that zone we showed or prepared to evacuate. and if that is the case, what should you carry? what should you have on you, >> it's my understanding that if they go to the website, the ors
4:11 pm
website, there is a mandatory evacuation at this point, and they want to carry, the residents want to carry their essentials. medicines that they need right away, maybe an extra set of clothing, anything that they may need, that they rely on for their day to day. so, please pack up if someone at your door telling you to evacuate, please don't wait. please get out of there as soon as possible, we'll we'll do all we can to get you back in and repopulate the area after the fire's out. but, we want them to take their essentials, their medications, their pets, if they can collect their pets and get them out of there, that would all be a great idea to collect and get out. >> captain. looks like we're showing some some more scenes. and when we zoom out, it looks like there's two pretty significant large subdivisions that are very close. do you have any idea of the proximity to actual, you know, homes structures in particular? the two larger developments? >> i don't have a number and i can't don't want to speculate
4:12 pm
again on the number of, homes in that area. it is pretty close. it's just over the hill from where i am. located right now. i'm in the command post. but it's quite a big subdivision. yeah. >> all right, well, captain christopher toler, we thank you for joining us. we know you have a lot to do on the scene, so we're going to let you go. and once again, folks, it's 120 acres burned. so far in concord and bay point, just north of highway four. folks getting the evacuation orders to stay safe. >> captain, thank you so much for your time. thank you. i'm sure we'll be checking back with captain toler as the afternoon progresses, but you can track the wildfires yourself all across the state, as well as air quality with our interactive wildfire tracker. go to abc seven news.com/fire map, and we'l

bill. yeah. >> business owners say they're trying to make sure restaurant workers get a decent living wage and health care coverage. but now some customers have started pushing back. >> building a better bay area reporter leanne lund, is here with a deeper look into the fees. and you've got your credit card statement right there. you got your bill. >> a lot of people don't like getting one of these. a bill with a service charge, you know, or how many times do we get that check and without looking, we

just hand down that credit card. now i have news for you. start looking because you may be dishing out a lot more money than you're supposed to be paying. and i promise you that once you watch this story, you will be an empowered customer. if you eat out, you've likely seen them. surcharges tacked onto the tab with different names, service fee, labor surcharge, fair wage, employer mandates, health care security ordinance, sf safety and benefit charge. why so many terminologies? i mean, this is very confusing for the customer. i mean, what the heck is a safety and benefit charge? you know what? >> at the end of the day, there are always people that are going to try to get around something and find a way to make it work better for them. folks just have to vote with their feet, get up and get out and go somewhere else that has more transparency. >> state senator bill dodd initially wrote the legislation to do away with all those
4:17 pm
surcharges, only to then exempt restaurants. and here's why we read we here on tv that how many restaurants are going out of business in the bay area? >> it's a tough time for restaurants. >> he's right. according to the san francisco consumer price index, prices for food away from home in the san francisco bay area went up by 5.2% in the past year. you know what else has gone up for restaurant owner rene dennis, his rent. minimum wage and that city health permit that in 2008 cost him $600 a year, is now up to $1,500. >> it keeps going up. we can't keep raising our prices in line with that, because then our customers get sticker shock. >> so restaurants across the state have started adding surcharges to their menus to make up for the rising costs. but sometimes those fees are not so obvious according to the law, any extra charges must be
4:18 pm
clearly and conspicuously displayed with an explanation. take this menu for example. i can read the prices. no problem, but at the very bottom and not so conspicuous is this note i need my glasses for this one. it says to help defray the rising cost in west hollywood, a 4.5% administrative fee will be added to your check. go on social media sites and the conversation is heated. here are two examples. when i receive a bill that has a service fee or a mandatory tip on it, i don't tip. san francisco has been doing it for years, hence the fact one reason i no longer dine there once a week, as i did years ago. lauren hyman created a site called sephisa inviting customers to record the surcharge of each restaurant. >> you know, so i created this website to make it easy for me
4:19 pm
and other, you know, consumers to just to easily understand how much something is going to cost before before they purchase them. and they visit a restaurant and sit down. >> and that kind of disclosure worries some restaurant owners who have already seen a backlash. this is really controversial and some restaurant owners didn't want to be interviewed. why is that? what are they afraid of? oh it's hot right now. >> i read things like reddit and a lot of social media and people are either posting, oh, 13% on my bill for this restaurant and they'll call out that restaurant at pascal. >> rene dennis charges an extra 5% to help supplement wages. faced with some disgruntled customers, some cafes and restaurants are eliminating that surcharge and just increasing the prices. >> instead, they were kind of confused, perplexed, sometimes thrown off in a way that made them discouraged from buying product and stuff like that. >> at craftsman and wolves along
4:20 pm
the valencia corridor. once they eliminated the surcharge marked on the bill, it made things a lot easier for everyone. in fact, most people we spoke to would rather pay more for a meal if it meant not paying that surcharge. i have $37.65, and that way you can put a meal together from the menu without having to worry about is there going to be some fee? >> i don't have enough for the fee because that's a that's that's a deadly moment when there's a fee. >> i think there's a simplicity in that. and i think it feels a little more transparent. we just got back from europe where we were encouraged basically not to tip. >> that's what they do at zazie, a popular french style restaurant in the coal valley neighborhood. so let me see if i get this right. you don't charge a service charge? no or you don't add any health insurance? no. okay. the tip. you don't even ask for a tip. no. so what, do you make that work, >> back in 2015, we did raise
4:21 pm
our prices 20%. >> owner megan cornelius told us how that 20% is used is clearly posted on each menu. >> it says a tip for your restaurant. all prices include a living wage, fully funded health care, dental care and 401 k for all of our hard working staff. >> but rene dennis says that model doesn't add up to a solution for him. >> no other way to put it. you know, we're robbing peter to pay paul. >> so here's something to remember. let's say a restaurant charges a 20% surcharge. some restaurants will say, don't leave a tip in many cases, that surcharge is supposed to cover the tip. but some restaurants don't do that, and you may end up paying 35 to 40% on top of the cost of your meal. now, if you feel that waiter was exceptional, then by all means be my guest. tip them again. but just realize know what you are doing. for example, i went to a
4:22 pm
restaurant the other day and they automatically one person, not six, not a party of six. me charged me 17% for that tip. >> it was added you were by yourself. >> i was by myself. and so i usually tip 20%. yeah so had i not seen that 17%, i would have been leaving 20% on top of 37%. >> yeah. >> well yeah, we got to we got to pay attention to the fine print. bring your glasses. right. >> i look good in them. >> right? absolutely. thank you. liane. >> sure. >> all right. just ahead. evacuations are underway because of a fire near concord and bay point. we've been giving you live updates throughout the hour, and we'll continue that when abc seven news at four continues.

down there, very close to the charred areas. firefighters tell us about 120 acres have burned. >> and just in the time that we've been on 25 minutes, you can see the fire line spreading and spreading and spreading and spreading. this is video from a short time ago. a nearby neighborhood, and you can see all the smoke. a lot of white smoke. captain toller from contra costa fire told us the wind is blowing from west to east and that is causing problems for firefighters at this point. >> right. we should mention some evacuation orders are in effect, but let's find out what's going on with the winds out there. >> for that, we bring in spencer. christian. hey, spencer. >> yeah, we have a little updated information now. i'll show you on this graphic. temperatures 92 degrees in the area of the fire. relative humidity is. you hear us use the term dangerously low a lot. but this truly is dangerously low 10%. anytime you get down into the teens or the single digits, that's. that means the fuels anything in the path of the fire is very, very dry winds out of the west. the sustained winds at about ten miles per hour, gusts to 20mph or more. so those are
4:27 pm
significant fire factors and will certainly pose a challenge to the firefighting effort. now, let me move along and give you a look at what's going on here, and i'll get this graphic out of the way. and here we go taking a look at our satellite radar composite image. you can see the controlling factor in our weather right now is that little area of low pressure just offshore that's pushing it. those low clouds up against the coastline and giving us a nice vigorous onshore flow. and obviously a cooler pattern that we've had all week long wind gusts right now up to and above 30mph near the coastline. and pretty breezy just about everywhere else as well. and what about the 24 hour temperature change? this is a sharp cool down. most locations are anywhere from ten to about 14 degrees cooler than at this time yesterday. and that is truly significant. and you can see the low clouds and fog pushing through the golden gate. now out over parts of san francisco and out over the bay. and this is a view from mount tam. it's currently 60 degrees in san francisco, oakland 67. we've got 70 at hayward, upper 70s at san jose and redwood city, 57 at half moon bay. and
4:28 pm
there's the fog over the golden gate. breezy there as well. other temperature readings looking northward and eastward. 75 in santa rosa, petaluma, 66, 74 and napa 91 at fairfield and mid to upper 80s at concord and livermore. and these are our forecast headlines. the cooldown continues into the weekend, actually, through the weekend. temperature forecast for the weekend below average high temperatures, and the outlook for next week calls for minor warming, but nothing like what we saw with the heat wave earlier in the week. forecast animation shows the marine layer will be building and expanding overnight up up against the coastline across the bay. locally inland. might even see some sprinkles, some drizzle near the coastline and out over the bay, so don't be surprised if you see a few damp spots early tomorrow morning. overnight lows will be mainly in the mid to upper 50s. highs tomorrow about 60 at the coast, upper 60s to near 70 around the bay shoreline and only mid to upper 70s in most inland locations. very few spots will top out at or above 80 degrees tomorrow. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. we'll see. minor warming sunday and monday,
4:29 pm
but still below average for this time of the year. then by tuesday wednesday we'll see high temperatures inland, climbing up to the upper 80s to near 90. not until the end of next week, where we'll see high temperatures inland, breaking the 90 degree mark. and even then that will be in the standard seasonal range for this time of the year. so nothing extreme or excessive, which is what we like for sure. yeah. >> well, we're really fortunate also that the temperature has dropped at least ten degrees and will continue. it will continue down. that'll help throughout the weekend also going into the nighttime hours. >> so the firefighting effort, the relative humidity will increase a bit, may not be as high as we'd like, but it's going to be higher than it is now. the winds though, will probably remain strong going into the evening. >> that's a problem, but hopefully they'll make some progress. >> thank you. spencer. >> all right. just ahead, the new voice of the san francisco giants and a special treat for a young 40 niner fan named levi. >> his levi stadium and 40

there that they've dropped fire retardant as part of their air aerial fight, if you will. they do have aerial support. and of course, there are ground crews there as well that are on scene for fighting this fire, along iborra road. >> yeah, let's bring spencer back. the smoke, spencer is somewhat ominous, and being pushed by the winds in the east bay. >> it is. we were talking about the fact that the temperature may be dropping shortly as we go into the evening hours, but the wind shows no sign of easing up significantly until much later tonight. so right now we're looking at gusts over 20mph, wind is the sustained winds are out of the west at about ten miles per hour. as you mentioned. you see the smoke traveling to the east. i know we have houses and other structures in the path of the fire. obviously, that's why there's an evacuation going on and why the fire firefighting effort is so intense. but i'm wondering how much vegetation is there. that live image we had there didn't show a lot of vegetation. if there's not much there, that's a good sign because the fuels or
4:35 pm
the vegetation is so strong, is so dry right now with relative humidity down to about 10%, it may drop even a little bit lower than that before it starts to increase during the evening hours. but even as it increases during the nighttime hours, the humidity, that is, it's not going to increase significantly enough to help the firefighting effort. if the winds diminish as they are expected to later in the evening, that will be helpful. of course, the temperature will go down because we've got that marine layer near the coast and the cooler air is now pushing inland, but it's the wind gusts and the and the dangerously low relative humidity, which are the factors that will continue to present a challenge to the firefighters and may continue to spread the fire at least for the foreseeable future, into the late afternoon and early evenin. >> yeah, spencer, this could be a very stressful night for both firefighters and homeowners in that area. that's true. all right. thank you. we'll be checking back in shortly. i'm sure in other news, right now, two people are dead after their

4:41 pm
out one game on a saturday and came to a 5050 ball and went down and did not get back up. >> x-rays showed that levi had compression fractures in his back. tests at u-k health care yielded a shocking diagnosis leukemia. >> the fractures in his back were caused by the leukemia breaking through areas of his spine. >> i wanted to change spots with him. yeah able to live that normal happy running from field to field life. and now i feel like i'm going to lose my son. >> levi. what's that like when a doctor or somebody tells you that you've got leukemia? >> it's a little scary because you don't know. especially like when you're younger, when you're doing all the chemo and your
4:42 pm
hair is falling out, you throw up a lot. you don't really know what to expect. >> a rallying cry sprang up on his behalf. he was levi, the lionhearted. withstanding the effects of chemotherapy for more than two years until january 31st, 2023. what wa be able to ring the bell when your chemotherapy was over? >> it was like i was holding 500 pounds and i just dropped it right there. it was the best thing ever for his wish, levi would like to spend a day with the san francisco 40 niners, in part because doctors say he will not be able to play football himself. >> that kind of represented all of the things that cancer took away from him was wanting to play football, and it took him a long time to kind of let go of that.
4:43 pm
>> on june 2nd, national cancer survivors day, levi arrives at kentucky children's. he thinks he's speaking to the media in support of the hospital, just as he's done in the past. >> could you tell us how old you are? >> i'm 12. >> and what you were diagnosed with b-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. well, levi, your story has really been an inspiration to all of us. and so we have a special message for you >> hey, levi, general manager of the 40 niners, john lynch here. and we understand that you're big fans of our team, the 40 niners. well, levi wanted to tell you we're big fans of yours. we've heard your story and it is really inspired our team. we're so excited to meet you. so pack your bags. you're getting on a plane. you're coming out here to santa clara. we'll see you next week, buddy. >> i mean, i was starstruck, i
4:44 pm
was shaking like i didn't know what to think because he's the big guy. i didn't know if it was a dream or not. it was something i've always wanted to do. and now i finally get to do it. >> days later, levi and his family are in northern california. whoa. >> are you in shock? look at that. >> in front of 40 niners headquarters in santa clara. >> levi. john lynch, how are you doing, buddy? >> the fun begins inside the stadium that shares levi's name. >> you raise me. just go down in bed. oh, yeah >> and a team gathering. it's one of levi's favorite players, george kittle. >> all the players have one of these. we wanted to give you one of these. hey, how's that looking for your dog? >> and welcome levi. >> what's up? yes, sir. i appreciate it, man. appreciate it deebo.

4:50 pm
the fire that's burning in contra costa county. >> yeah, these are live pictures right there. residents in parts of concord and bay point north of highway four have received evacuation orders and now the fire has grown to have burned 150 acres. yeah. >> we first came on at 4:00. it was about 125 acres. so it's spreading rapidly. abc seven news reporter anser hassan is at the scene and just got an update from firefighters on sir. >> yeah. kristen. good afternoon. i just spoke to contra costa county fire protection district. they say there are three sections of the driftwood neighborhood in bay point that are now under mandatory evacuation. right
4:51 pm
behind me you can see this is the fire line. fire crews have been out here trying to expand the firebreak just minutes ago. this is evora road. it's closed. except for people who are trying to evacuate driftwood neighborhood. now it is hot out here. it is dry, and you can probably hear. it is very windy. all factors that favor this fire. fire officials tell me the wind is blowing the fire east, which is towards the neighborhood. fire officials say they have deployed teams in the path of the fire, trying to protect homes. they say that's their number one priority right now. cal fire is also out here trying to do air drops up above. there are bulldozers trying to expand the firebreak because just on the other side of the hill is highway four, which they're trying to keep the fire away from. and also this is commute hours, as you mentioned, 150 acres burned. no containment at this point. highway four remains open and no word yet if they plan to close highway four as well. we, of course, will
4:52 pm
keep you updated throughout the rest of the afternoon. reporting live anser hassan abc seven news. >> thank you. highway 4th may be open, but you got to watch out. >> the smoke could come your way and you could see behind unser there, the dried out vegetation. it's just parched in that area. and it's unfortunately the perfect fuel for a fire like this, and especially with the wind. yep >> let's check in with spencer now and find out what the winds are doing right now. >> yeah, larry and kristen, we've had some minor improvement in weather conditions, but not enough to significantly change the situation. so right now, in the area of the fire near bay point, it's 90 degrees down a couple of degrees relative humidity, which had been around 10% earlier. it's now up a little bit to 15%. that's still dangerously low. the wind hasn't changed much. it's out of the west at ten miles per hour. the sustained winds are and the gusts up to about 20, maybe 22mph. so the wind is still blowing in the same direction at roughly the same velocity, and the smoke is still being carried generally off toward the east. and that's what we have at the moment. it doesn't look like any significant change in these
4:53 pm
factors, except maybe some decline in the wind speeds will occur over the next few hours. larry and kristen. >> all right, spencer, thank our heart attack was... scary! never want to go through that again. but we could. with heart disease, you never know. so we made changes. green juice. yeah, not a fan. diet, exercise... statins helped. but our ldl-c (bad cholesterol)-it was stuck! stuck! just couldn't lower it enough. and high ldl-c meant a real risk of another attack. so i said, "let's ask our doctor about repatha." what can i say? listen to your heart. repatha plus a statin dramatically lowers ldl-c by 63%, and significantly drops the risk of having a heart attack. do not take repatha if you are allergic to it. repatha can cause serious allergic reactions. signs include trouble breathing or swallowing or swelling of the face. most common side effects include runny nose, sore throat, common cold symptoms, flu or flu-like symptoms, back pain, high blood sugar, and redness, pain, or bruising at the injection site. we won't let another heart attack set us back.
4:54 pm
and neither should you. listen to your heart. lower your ldl-c and your risk with repatha. talk to your doctor. dave's company just scored the comcast business 5-year price lock guarantee. high five! high five... -i'm on a call. it's 5 years of reliable, gig speed internet... five years of advanced security... five years of a great rate that won't change. yep, dave's feeling it. yes. but it's only for a limited time. five years? -five years. introducing the comcast business 5-year price lock guarantee. powering 5 years of savings. powering possibilities.

4:57 pm
ward. >> he ended up in the tenderloin. eccles says an unhoused man found the dog at this park off eddie street. >> the homeless man bought him a little crate, a blanket, a pad, food, dog toys and kept him for two days. this is a man who has nothing and he lives in this park. and he took care of our little boy right after ward went missing. >> another dog walker actually spotted him. >> i noticed he had no owner or no collar and he took off down the street. >> monique lee posted about it online and two days later got a call from a different dog walker who saw woody and a man at a bus stop. that dog walker approached the man and morty. the woman showed the man the missing posters and explained that woody had run away. the man handed over the dog and that's when he said, here, take the dog and you have to take the blanket because he loves this blanket. now woody's home again. >> see, there's your blanket. >> as for eccles, he wants to
