burglary suspects from a cannabis facility on the oakland embarcadero. a suspect in a car trailing the undercover officers opened fire, hitting lei in the head. four people were later arrested and charged the suspect, who police say shot officer lay was acting as a lookout for the group. an alameda county judge is now deciding if there's enough evidence to send this case to trial. >> happening today, san francisco police officers will remember one of their own, officer luciano ortega. he died unexpectedly of an unknown cause late last month after being on the force for nearly a decade. officer ortega most recently worked out of the mission station in a video he made for the department. he said being a police officer was the only job he's ever wanted. a service for officer ortega starts at 930 this morning at saint mary's of the assumption. >> there will be at least one presidential debate between vice president kamala harris and former president donald trump. the two have agreed to face off right here on abc and amanda, this morning. there are

questions about those two other debates announced by trump. >> yeah, kumasi one debate in particular on fox is definitely in question. the harris campaign says she won't agree to any other debates until trump shows up to the debate here on abc. that's september 10th. trump announced his version of the debate schedule during a meandering, hour long news conference yesterday at his estate in florida. he continued to make false claims about the 2020 election. he attacked vice president harris's intelligence and lashed out about the size of the crowds at her campaign rallies. at one point, trump began speaking about the vice president's relationship from decades ago with former san francisco mayor willie brown. and trump also inaccurately described surviving a near-death experience in a helicopter. >> well, i know willie brown very well. in fact, i went down in a helicopter with him. we thought maybe this is the end. we were in a helicopter going to a certain location together, and there was an emergency landing. this was not a pleasant landing.

morning. at this time, a 2 or 3 degrees cooler. as a matter of fact, generally around the bay area. so let's take a closer look. here's a view. bright skies looking southeastward from our rooftop camera 54 degrees here in the city right now we have upper 50s at oakland and hayward, 62 at san jose, redwood city 59 and 54 at half moon bay. and it's rather clear at the golden gate as well, 51 degrees right now up north in santa rosa, petaluma, 5054 napa, fairfield 56 and livermore, 56. concord 58 degrees. as we go into the afternoon, we're going to see bright sunshine across the entire region down to the south bay. look for highs of 84. santa clara 85 at san jose, morgan hill 94 on the peninsula, mainly low to mid 70s, but up to about 82 at redwood city. that's often the warm spot on the peninsula. we'll see low 60s at the coast today. downtown san francisco will top out at about 66 degrees up in the north bay 91 santa rosa, 82 at napa, east bay. highs 72, oakland 80, castro valley and mainly upper 80s to low 90s in the inland east bay and overnight we'll see the fog returning to the coast with patchy drizzle. overnight lows in the mid to upper 50s.

of a repaving project that's scheduled for next month. this morning, there's a growing debate over dogs at one san francisco park. pet owners want their own space. the city is demanding they stay out at least for now. the signs at jackson park and potrero hill are clear no dogs on sports fields. that doesn't stop some nearby residents from walking their pets around. anyway. >> beautiful field. you know. we've seen it not being used. and so when there's no kids or there's no events going on, we bring our dogs here. >> the dog owners say using the park is harmless. they say the closest dog park is inconveniently far from their neighborhood. people using the fields for sports say the pets can be a problem. >> the only things that we run into problems with is the sometimes they leave the dog poop. you know, the owners don't pick up after themselves. >> some pet owners recently told our partners at sf standard, tensions have reached a boiling point. they say they've even been chased from the park by rangers with megaphones. residents have collected nearly 1000 signatures petitioning the city to create a space for dogs

lane from the left, but again, no backup there either. then we'll take you to our live san rafael cam staying in the north bay. it is pretty quiet this morning. that friday light. we like to talk about reggie. back to you amanda. >> thank you. this morning. still no arrests after some scary moments, scary moments at uc berkeley. there was an hours long lockdown yesterday to search for a suspected shooter. there were reports of shots being fired near the clark kerr campus just after 7 a.m. one neighbor we spoke with said that he heard the shots. >> i was laying in bed about 737. i don't know what time, and i thought i heard a pop, you know, a gunshot. and then all of a sudden, about two minutes later, all you heard was sirens and everything going off for about ten minutes. >> police raced up to a home on panoramic way yesterday afternoon, but officers left without finding anyone. >> happening today. thousands of hotel workers across the bay area will be voting on whether to authorize a strike. this comes as their current union contract is just days from expiring. amanda is live with what they're asking for. >> kumasi the local chapter of

the unite here union is calling for better wages, affordable health care and lighter workloads. the union's contract expires next wednesday. the union says the vote to authorize a strike comes after months of unsuccessful negotiations with hyatt, hilton and marriott. the vote covers housekeepers, cooks, dishwashers, servers, bartenders and bell attendants. according to unite here, the u.s. hotel industry profits were 26% higher in 2022 than in 2019. but hotel workers aren't seeing that increase in their pay as well as loss of hours. they say covid era service cuts continue to be in place, including understaffing, no daily housekeeping and not bringing back food and drink options at these hotels. the grand hyatt, hilton, union square and a handful of other hotels in san francisco would be impacted if a strike were to happen. however, the vote happening today is just to authorize a strike. it doesn't mean a strike will

the biggest democratic party donors in the country, and this will not be the last time the harris campaign is here before election day, bloomberg reports. there's already another fundraiser planned in mill valley for august 17th. >> a bay area native is missing after his plane reportedly crashed near the bahamas, according to our media partner, the east bay times, 59 year old christopher moore was first reported missing sunday. he grew up in pleasanton but was living in kentucky. rescue crews couldn't find him. they gave up the search on monday. then yesterday the single engine plane was found 40 miles north of freeport, bahamas. officials say moore was not with the plane. it's not clear if he is considered missing or presumed to be dead. >> new at six. governor newsom and nvidia are partnering to bring ai, technology and education to students. the new initiative will provide higher education students access to curriculum, certificates, labs and workshops all about ai. newsom and the ceo hope the effort will support new jobs and open new pathways for students to advance their careers.

students got in trouble for having their phone on them. that trend may continue. the governor is working to restrict phones in schools statewide. new details on last months hill bomb at dolores park. our partners at the san francisco standard have learned the san francisco police department spent nearly $250,000 on overtime for this event. police worked extra hours to set up barricades on dolores street and brought in extra officers to prevent the hill bomb that didn't work. skaters ended up moving over a block and still went speeding down the hill. last year's hill bomb ended with dozens of arrests and a muni bus being vandalized. >> this morning, we're tracking what's left of hurricane debbie. it's now a tropical storm as it moves up the east coast. earlier this morning, authorities announced an eighth death is being blamed on the storm. debbie made landfall in south carolina yesterday. the storm has caused serious flooding and spawned tornadoes in multiple states. debbie is expected to move through pennsylvania and upstate new york today.

have so much stuff that you've collected. >> we have millions of photographs and documents, but we also have really great dimensional assets like these vehicles, these cars and when we have ride and ride vehicles from the parks and everything from santa claus's sleigh to chariots to the black pearl, plus these wonderful vehicles that we're sharing this morning, and three of the vehicles look very familiar to all you disney fans. >> you know what these vehicles are, right? >> these are the three cruella uh- limousines, whatever you want to call them. they're fantastic cars. they are from three different cruella versions. so this one that you're looking at first is from disney plus version of cruella, which came out in 2021. and that's a 1974 panther de ville. and the next one we have here is actually from once upon a time, the abc television show. and that's a 1987 zaker. wow. and the third one here is also a 74 panther de ville with a little bit different styling and paint

job. and this was the one that was used in the live action version, the 101 and 102 dalmatians with glenn close. my favorite thing about them is the license plates. they all say dev ill dev ill dev vil not devel dev ill dev ill. yes, awesome. >> now we've got those of course. but there's one vehicle right here that is just beautiful. >> this particular car is very, very special. this was one that walt disney actually drove. and owned. walt always drove his own car and he bought this one. this is a 1964 mercedes. 230 sl and he loaned it to the studio. it was painted white then, but it appeared in one of our films, which was that darn cat in 1965. oh my god. so walt loaned his own car to dean jones for that film. >> so walt disney, the man behind all of this, he drove this car. >> that was his car. >> yeah. and you could see it live in person right here at d2. the ultimate disney fan event. yes. they changed the name, by the way, because it was d23
