getting busy, but not too bad here for your 5 a.m. commute, i should say. and then i do want to take you to a commuter alert. we told you about this friday, but still want to remind you you're going to want to check your bart schedules this morning. you're going to see a bit of a shift. and that's as they're making schedule adjustments. they're saying this is to improve service connections and space and trains departure times, as i mentioned, are going to be shifted. so the agency is reminding riders to check their schedule before the trip. so just a reminder, if you rely on bart, especially during the morning commutes. and before we move on, i do want to get a check of the seven day forecast. here. you can see it is going to be below average inland. 84 is what's expected. we are expecting a warmer day tomorrow though, which is great inland. again 90 degrees you can say around the bay 74 a little change. wednesday it's not as warm than thursday. the same continues into the weekend. and then a little change on sunday

with 86 expected inland. let's get back to the desk. >> developing news out of san francisco. police investigating the death of a man whose body was found in golden gate park, right by the outside lands music festival. the fire department tells us paramedics found a man's body locked inside a portable bathroom outside the festival grounds just after one yesterday afternoon. it's not clear how the man died or if he was going to attend outside lands. you might remember last year, also on the last night of the festival, police found a woman's body stuffed inside a duffel bag. police arrested two people on suspicion of conspiracy and unlawful disposal of human remains. >> today marks the start of the new school year. for much of the bay area, and that includes oakland unified. the district, though, is facing one of the most uncertain school years yet. amanda has worn the issues at school. officials are dealing with as kids head back to the classroom, amanda. yeah. >> kumasi. the oakland unified school district has seen its

enrollment drop over the past few years. attendance, which revenue is based on, has also gone down. additionally the district is facing a large budget shortfall of around $56 million and the deficit is only expected to get worse. school board president sam davis says usd is still using federal and state relief money to cover costs. the district is looking into possible school closures. >> we just have to take a tough look at every school and say, is this really the one that we need for our our district right now for our city, because we do see declining number of students everywhere, not just oakland, berkeley, hayward, across across the bay, across the country, and some community organizations say there needs to be change to help some of the families who are underprivileged. >> unfortunately, in oakland, just 2 in 10 black and brown students can read at grade level. just 1 in 10 can do math at grade level. just about 50% of black and brown students are actually even eligible to apply to a four year college when they're done with high school.

harris rally over the weekend. the former president helped to spread false conspiracy theories, claiming videos of the crowd size were fake. they were not fake. thousands of people attended harris's rally in michigan last wednesday. trump made multiple posts on truth social, repeating false claims by far right conspiracy theorists and brought up more false claims of fraud in the 2020 election. there's video of harris's michigan rally from multiple news organizations, from people in the crowd and from the harris campaign, who say that the video was not altered in any way. former president trump has been off the campaign trail for the past two weeks. he says he plans to stay off the campaign trail until after the democratic national convention ends on august 22nd. his campaign says his vice presidential nominee, jd vance, will be visiting michigan on wednesday. >> today, the former president, scheduled to have a public conversation with elon musk on his platform x, once known as

now, investigators are examining the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder, trying to determine what caused the crash. >> as we mentioned, that stunning video shows the plane in what's called a flat spin falling from the sky. it crashed into a suburban sao paulo neighborhood and burst into flames, killing all 62 people on board. two trainee doctors are among the victims. the head of brazil's air accident investigation says the aircraft did not declare an emergency. officials also say the plane was flying normally until it stopped responding to calls, and then they lost radar contact. just a few minutes later, the plane went down. investigators are also examining the plane's engines to see if there could be clues about what happened. back to you at the desk. >> thanks, amanda. investigators in maryland are searching for answers in the rubble of this home after a deadly explosion yesterday morning. two people died. a dozen families can't go home. this happened around 640 in the community of bel air. about a half hour north of

baltimore. firefighters got reports of a gas leak early this morning, and just before crews showed up, the home exploded wow. the debris field spans several blocks. first responders say the two people killed are likely the 73 year old homeowner and a utility worker. two utility workers were in that area because there was an electrical issue, but it's not clear if that issue was related to this explosion. >> a family in utah is now $25,000 richer. after discovering a hidden treasure. now, this isn't some long buried gold. the search is organized by two men who hid the treasure chest back in june, and they shared riddles to help people find it. they started. they started running regular treasure hunts back in 2020, trying to get people a way to have fun outside during lockdowns. mission accomplished. for this treasure, finding father and his two sons, i'm going to finish my

that iran could attack israel at any moment. here's abc news reporter rhiannon ally. >> reporter this morning, the pentagon is ordering the uss georgia to the middle east. the nuclear powered submarine is capable of holding more than 150 tomahawk missiles. tensions in the region have been building after the former leader of hamas was assassinated in iran's capital last month. hamas blames israel for the killing and iran has vowed revenge. the pentagon typically keeps the movements of submarines classified. analysts say this rare announcement is a clear message to iran to back down the website, axios reports. israeli intelligence believes iran has decided to attack israel within days. israel's

fort funston. the california academy of sciences says a dead humpback whale washed ashore friday, and scientists say, given its markings, it was likely killed by an orca whale. the marine mammal center counts four other stranded whales in the bay area this year, which is the lowest total for this time of the year in at least five years. they believe one of them died because of a ship strike, but they don't know the cause of death for the other three. >> in the east bay, a moment months in the making, coast guard cutter returned to its home port over the weekend after months at sea. friends and family gathered in alameda
