quimby road, and the steep terrain proved to be challenging. abc seven news reporter lauren martinez was there tonight. she is now live in san jose with the latest lauren. >> yeah, you couldn't miss the glow of the fires as you were driving around san jose. the san jose fire department tells me they were responding to three separate fires, totaling to about 33 acres. as of around 10:00 this evening. it was 5% contained. now, from where we were standing, we could hear and see the night flying helicopters as they made several water drops. we were standing at a corner of evergreen valley high school. residents call the area the evergreen hills. the fire department said this was a unified command with cal fire, and they had an additional wildland task force from santa clara county fire department. so they had quite a lot of resources responding to this. the fire department could not confirm if any structures were threatened, nor could they confirm if residents were

11:44 pm
that i'd forgotten my airpods. >> you know, it's that first moment you go to make the phone call and you realize you have to hold the thing up to your face. >> after he realized they were missing, ayton says he was able to track the airpods with the find my app on his phone. he began making videos on social media, documenting everywhere they went. eventually attracting thousands of viewers over the coming months, they traveled all over the united states. >> they spent time in iowa. they spent time in north carolina. we caught them walking down the street in new york at 3:00 in the morning. one night, which was really exciting. >> that was until just last week, when the airpods suddenly appeared in santa rosa, just minutes away from ayton's home. >> and i realized, i've got to go over there. i've got to go. i've got to go find them. >> so find them. he did. after knocking on the front door of the home where the airpods were located, ayton met chance colbert, whose dad peter had given him the airpods. i caught up with both of them on zoom, where chance proudly displayed

the airpods in question. >> they actually are. i thought it would be fitting that they are there, but i use every day. >> peter says he's not sure how he initially got ahold of the airpods, since he wasn't at burning man back in 2022. a realtor by trade, he thinks he might have gotten them from a house that he sold sometime after the festival before giving them to his son. after meeting chance and being reunited with his old airpods once again, ayton says he allowed chance to keep them. the only condition was that he had to make a donation to the local redwood empire food bank. >> we've all volunteered at food banks, specifically redwood empire, so yeah, when i when i heard his request, i was happy to oblige. >> as for ayton, he's happy this story had a good ending, something he hopes will carry on into the future. >> if we can, you know, have the story end with, you know, even a little bit more joy, a little bit more help, a little bit more people. you know, paying it forward then that to me is the best ending in santa rosa. >> tim johns, abc seven news. >> wow, that's a good story.

well, some people are taking an extra step online to try and prevent burglaries. they're blurring out their homes on the street. view of google maps helps to block anyone who might be casing neighborhoods ahead of time, and using the internet as a tool. the idea is to give thieves less material to work with by choosing to blank out their homes completely. >> what a great idea to harden your target, meaning to make your residents a little more anonymous so that people can't see what you have or what your house looks like. >> okay, here's how you do it yourself. find your home or business on google maps. click on report a problem on the lower right corner of the screen. you can choose what you want. blurred answer a few questions, then request google make the change. >> interesting idea. yeah. all right. happening now. you'll want to take a quick look up. if you haven't seen the moon, it might be worth a peek. not now. don't leave yet. do it after our newscast. >> i'd have to be outside. i guess that's not going to work. all right. we are in the midst of a super blue moon. the actual
