against a backdrop of increased protests. police arresting dozens of pro-palestinian protesters near the city's israeli consulate and, a few miles away, a celebratory atmosphere inside the convention hall. turn out for what? rapper lil jon, kicking off a ceremonial state by state roll call nominating kamala harris as the democratic presidential nominee. >> we are so honored to be your nominees. >> harris accepted the ceremonial nomination from a packed rally 80 miles away in milwaukee in the same arena where donald trump accepted the republican nomination last month. back in chicago, michelle obama took the stage calling out former president donald trump for the attacks he made on her and her husband for years. >> donald trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us. who's going to tell them that the job he's currently seeking might just be one of those black jobs?

support. >> is the risk of a harris waltz presidency worth us staying in? >> candidate robert f kennedy jr. s running mate revealed they are considering ending their independent campaign to endorse donald trump. trump has taken genuine, sincere interest in our policies around chronic disease. >> he takes it seriously. >> in recent weeks, kennedy met with trump but also reached out to the harris team for a meeting today. trump is heading to north carolina for his first outdoor engagement since his assassination attempt. there will be extra security, including bulletproof glass. >> breaking overnight russia's capital has been targeted by one of the largest drone attacks since its war in ukraine began. according to the mayor of moscow, at least 11 drones flying towards the city were shot down. it comes as ukraine's assault inside russia intensifies. ukraine appears close to cutting off a large number of russian troops. it has already destroyed three key

bridges inside russia. new video shows the moment a yacht toppled over near sicily, killing one man and setting off a search for six people who are still missing. >> 22 people were on board the vessel when it went down due to an apparent waterspout early monday. crews found the body of the ship's cook. divers looking for the remaining passengers have been forced to work in 12 minute shifts. >> the coast guard says the recovery mission is complex, and the divers say that furniture is blocking the windows to the cabins, which means they may have to break through the hull to gain access. >> the missing include two americans, new york lawyer chris morvillo and his wife also missing. morgan stanley international ceo jonathan bloomer and tech billionaire mike lynch. >> now to the deadly rampage in maine last year, when an army reservist killed 18 people at a bowling alley and a bar. the final report by investigators found local law enforcement and army leaders repeatedly missed red flags. this morning, an

independent commission has outlined the missed opportunities it says could have prevented a deadly rampage in maine. there were several opportunities that, if taken, might have changed the course of these tragic events. in october of last year, army reservist robert card opened fire at a bowling alley in lewiston and then again at a nearby bar and grill, leaving 18 people dead and more than a dozen wounded. card later took his own life. our concern is that he's either going to hurt himself or someone else. the report says police officers should have taken steps to use maine's yellow flag law. under that law, police can apply for a court order to temporarily seize someone's guns if they are suspected of being a threat. the report also details how people close to card became concerned by his bizarre and paranoid behavior, and called state police to approach him. >> i hope you understand that, that they're they're concerned

enough about your welfare that they called us because they're scared, because i'm going to freaking do something, because i am capable. >> and the report says card's commanding officer knew of his hallucinations and increasingly aggressive behavior, collection of guns and ominous comments about his intentions. but the starkest warning came from a fellow reservist one month before the shooting. writing in a text message, i believe he's going to snap and do a mass shooting. maine passed new legislation after the shootings. a three day waiting period for new gun purchases went into effect this month. >> the force of nature was captured on camera after strong storms in connecticut. this home in oxford collapsed amid flooding brought on by this week's historic rains. the homeowner and her three year old son made it out safely, their belongings washed away, but the mom says she managed to save her son's teddy bear. and this scene from the caribbean, where people at a beach spotted a waterspout off the coast of jamaica. no

fight and recovery from cancer on good morning america. >> we are back now with police in new jersey releasing this video of a woman climbing into a tiger enclosure. the woman is seen sticking her hand near the bengal tiger at the zoo. police say the big cat nearly bites her before she leaves the restricted area. police are now looking for that woman. and in virginia, a two year old boy accidentally shot his mother's boyfriend, leaving him in critical condition. police say the toddler picked up the handgun after the man placed it on a chair. as he was preparing to leave the house and the child pulled the trigger. no one else was hurt. no word yet on whether the man will face charges. >> now to the major decision impacting 30 million u.s. workers. a judge struck down a rule that would have voided contracts that bar workers from

moving to rival employers. this morning, a ban on non-compete agreements put on hold just days before it was set to take effect. a federal judge in texas upholding a challenge to the ftc's rule banning the controversial contracts that prevent workers from joining their employer's rivals or launching competing businesses, ruling the agency lacks the authority to put the ban in place. the ftc argues the agreements stifle workers ability to switch jobs and earn higher wages. >> it's clear that the freedom to leave your job and take another job is fundamental to a free and fair economy. >> an ftc spokesperson tells abc news the agency will keep fighting to stop non-competes that restrict the economic liberty of hardworking americans. the lawsuit was filed by the u.s. chamber of commerce along with a texas tax firm. they argued the proposed ban was too broad and that the ftc overstepped its authority. the president of the u.s. chamber of commerce, celebrating the decision, calling the ban an unlawful extension of power that would have put american workers, businesses and our economy at a competitive disadvantage. the

doctor at the clinic. >> now to a possible tech solution to protect property. more people are using a function on google maps to hide their homes. abc's alison kosik explains. >> google maps is often a go to for travel and navigation, but it's the street view function that would be thieves are using to case your home. >> it could be a good way for criminals to, you know, kind of do some research in the neighborhoods that they plan on targeting. they're going to be able to see what, you know, type of windows, what what access points do they have from the front of the house? it showed my one of my cars in the driveway clear as day. >> according to fbi stats, break ins occur every 26 seconds in the u.s. and account for nearly 1 million burglaries every year. it's why some people are now blurring out their homes and businesses on google maps. when officer ryan railsback of the riverside, california, police department learned about the feature, he blurred his own

home, especially as home invasions have been on the rise there. >> i don't know how often google maps updates these images. i know it's fairly frequent, but you know, maybe the next time i have other cars or i have a garage open, i don't want any of that to show. >> here's how to do it. first, find your property on google maps. next, go to the bottom right of the screen and click report a problem. then click what you want blurred and hit submit. you'll need to answer a few questions for google to make the change. >> going to all the websites that have your property information on there, you can get it all taken down. it does take time and it's something that will be almost a cat and mouse game, because as soon as you take it down from one website, a new one will pop up. >> experts say keep your property safe by investing in a security system with cameras and motion sensors, and check activity on cameras as often as possible to see if there's anything suspicious. it's also a good idea to be friendly with your neighbors so you can look
