>> a lot to get to. we're going to start the check of our forecast with drew. >> yeah. so yesterday was the warmest day of the week. from here on out. we will find some cooler weather moving in over the next couple of days. a live look from the tam cam this morning. it is lovely out there, but you'll notice if you look closely, we have some patchy fog out there along the coast, through the city and in parts of the east bay. so right now, depending on your location, if you're inland, you are seeing clear skies. but close to the coast we are dealing with our marine layer this morning. it's just a visual indication that we have cooler weather moving our way today and through the end of the week. temperatures right now. good morning. san francisco at 57. 64 in san jose, 62. that current temperature in oakland inland. it's in the upper 50s. lower 60s, mainly in the 50s right now in the north bay. so we'll begin inland temperatures not as hot as yesterday. we're back to average mid and upper 80s with lots of sunshine throughout the afternoon now around the bay shoreline. some patchy cloud cover right now, but it's a nice looking afternoon. mid 70s with that breeze picking up later on today

between 15 and 25mph along the coast. not as bright as we were yesterday. we are dealing with morning fog. it's a partly sunny day and those highs in the mid 60s. let's check in with sue and see those drive times this morning. >> good morning drew and good morning everyone. it is wednesday and we're taking a look at 680 in walnut creek right at the turn to highway 24. it's moving nicely. no delays all the way to and through the caldecott tunnel. moving at the limit. metering lights were turned on about 30 minutes ago at the bay bridge toll plaza. and you're seeing the effect right here. backed up to the first overcrossing. it's a pretty minor delay at this point, but it is beginning to build and you will see brake lights headed towards the tunnel and on into san francisco. some minor slowing. it's about a 40 minute drive up and over the altamont on 580 westbound into dublin pleasanton. >> sue thank you. this morning a santa rosa man is facing a murder charge after prosecutors say he killed a 31 year old mother and police officer. the victim was on her way to pick her daughter up from school on

friday when she was hit. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez tracking the new developments in this case. gloria, the suspect just appeared. just appeared in court yesterday. >> he did reggie aqui. and according to the sonoma county district attorney's office, the suspect is now facing a murder charge. he's also facing charges of felony gross vehicular manslaughter, felony dui, and driving without a valid license. authorities say that 68 year old nguyen van nguyen was under the influence of alcohol when he crashed this car on friday in santa rosa, killing a 31 year old police officer. prosecutors say jessica avila munoz was on her way to pick up her 13 year old daughter from school when nguyen ran a red light and slammed into her. munoz later died at the hospital. police say the driver has four prior misdemeanor duis. legal analyst stephen clark says this murder charge is the most serious way that a da sends a message for dui drivers that if you continue to do this and someone is killed, you will face a murder

charge. no longer just a misdemeanor. >> it's likely that this man, if he's convicted of second degree murder, will not get out of prison. it carries a 15 to life term, and also the other conduct involved felony dui. so it's not likely that he will be released from prison anytime soon. >> munoz had just started working as a sonoma county juvenile correctional counselor last year. her coworkers are, of course, very saddened by her death. and as for the suspect, he's in jail without bail and is expected back in court on september 11th. live in the studio gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. thank you. gloria >> all right. we're going to take you out live right now to the united center, where the main events are happening this week for the democratic national convention. well, tonight, the headliners include former

president bill clinton. there's a live look where everyone is going to be, including former president bill clinton, speaker nancy pelosi. and that's all before minnesota governor tim walz takes the stage to officially accept the party's nomination for vice president. all of them are trying to continue the intense excitement from last night. that's when the convention felt more like a party. during the ceremonial roll call, one state called in a well known artist to help announce their pledged delegates for vice president harris. we are here tonight to officially nominate kamala harris for president. turn down for what lil jon took over the convention floor. it was a whole party. this was during georgia's roll call vote. abc seven news anchor julian glover was there in chicago and has more on night two's big moments. >> a really huge night for night two of the dnc with the obama

to deport the violent, illegal aliens that have come into this country over the last few years. no more free rides, no more amnesty. >> tomorrow, the former president is heading back west, making a visit to the border in arizona. developing news here at home. pro-palestinian protesters who blocked the golden gate bridge in april are demanding san francisco da brooke jenkins remove herself from the case. the 26 protesters surrendered to authorities last week after jenkins issued warrants for their arrest. they each face 40 criminal counts. in a letter sent to the da's office yesterday, protesters say jenkins and her staff have a conflict of interest because they received gifts of wine from the israeli consulate. in a statement to the chronicle, the da's office denies the claim. it says public officials routinely meet with consulates of different countries to discuss safety of consulates and staff. >> mayoral candidate and city supervisor aaron peskin is laying out his plan to solve san francisc says if he's elected mayor, he

wants to stop evictions and offer more shelter. instead of encampment sweeps. peskin proposes buying empty properties in the city and then turning those into shelters. he discussed his plans in the mission district yesterday alongside other community leaders. >> homeless people are being swept from one neighborhood into another, and what i am proposing is standing up the shelter beds that we need, creating the facilities to address the behavioral health crisis that we are experiencing. >> peskin says mayor london breed is to blame for the current state of the homeless crisis. a campaign spokesperson for mayor breed released a statement that says in part, quote, aaron peskin has been in office for over 20 years but waited until he was running for mayor to propose a homeless plan. mayor breed is the only candidate actually delivering shelter and housing and moving people off the streets, end quote. >> 611 will get you an update on the accuweather forecast. we'll take you into the east bay hills looking west along the coast. we have our marine layer. it's

visible. it's back this morning. it's going to introduce some cooler weather over the next couple of days. looking at our weather wellness today. air quality. good to moderate. very similar to yesterday. pollen levels remain low and your uv index is an eight. today that is very high. so looking at the forecast inland today lots of sunshine. not as hot as yesterday. yesterday we were in the 90s. today we're in the mid and upper 80s for daytime highs around the bay shoreline. some patchy cloud cover right now. we'll get you into the mid 70s later on this afternoon. it feels very nice. yesterday it was beautiful along the coast. we had full sunshine. kind of a different story today. pretty cloudy and those temperatures will stay in the mid 60s. winds today onshore very similar to yesterday gusting about 15 to 25mph. later on this afternoon. today. temperatures as we begin our cooling trend are back to average 80s, inland 60s and 70s around the bay shoreline. this cooling trend is going to accelerate over the next couple of days, and by friday feels like fall around here. temperatures in the 60s and 70s.

one bay area school district will be enforcing new rules. this school year to reduce the risk of accidents and crashes involving e-bikes. students in the larkspur corte madera district need a permit if they want to ride an e-bike to and from school. this is as health researchers raised concerns about the increase of serious injuries in connection to e-bikes. according to a recent ucsf study, injuries doubled nationally from 2017 to 2022. e-scooter injuries rose by 45% each year. the coauthor said the median age involved in adults. adults, excuse me, in their 30s or older on a ridership level, there's probably a lot more public education and enforcement

of regulations that can happen, particularly around helmet use, speed limits. some e-bikes have a motor that can go more than 28 miles an hour. san francisco is getting ready to host a series of block parties to bring more people to the mid market area. this is called on stage live on mid market. live performances, art exhibits, food and drink vendors are all going to be filling market street between fifth and sixth streets. you can see where it is right there on the map. the block party will also focus on mid market's history as the city's theater district. on stage is a free event. it runs the first thursday in september, october and november from 4 to 7 p.m. happening today. wine harvest season is officially underway. the wine community in livermore valley will be holding its blessing of the grapes celebration. the annual tradition is supposed to bring good fortune for the upcoming harvest. the blessing has been practiced by winemakers around the world and by different religions for centuries. today's

blessing in the east bay is at three steve's winery. it starts at 1130. it goes until noon. you got 30 minutes to get there for the blessing. okay. and after that, it's do what you want to do. >> turn up, take a nap. >> right. bring your glasses. but you got 30 minutes for the blessing. >> it'll be fun. i bet it'll be nice weather, too. this morning we're tracking cooler weather coming in the next couple of days. so yesterday was the warmest day of the week, and the accuweather headlines. we will find that we're having some fall feeling temperatures as we head deeper into the day. if we take the graphics, i think we'll find that we see those cooler temperatures. a live look outside from the exploratorium camera showing you that we are going to see a nice day today, but it's going to feel cooler out there. and that trend continues for the next couple of days. by friday, it's going to feel like fall, and that comes with a chance of some drizzle, even a chance of showers by the weekend. we do have warmer weather moving in here, so we will salvage a nice looking

saturday and sunday. so temperatures in the south bay in our microclimates. we'll have 70s and 80s today as a cooling trend gets underway here. as we head find 70s, redwood city, mountain view, 60s along the coast. so the coast is going to be a lot cloudier today compared to yesterday. now around the city we have morning clouds giving way to a bit of afternoon sunshine downtown. cooler than yesterday. will stay in the 60s. the breeze picks up too as well in the north bay 80s and 90s it will feel warm today in the east bay. morning clouds. the sun 74, in oakland, 76, in fremont with that breeze picking up and then inland. today we're back into the 80s. close to average for this time of the year. overnight tonight will dip into the 50s. now we'll talk about the cooler air moving in here by the end of the week. this trough is going to set up shop on friday. and that's going to bring about the chance of that drizzle as well. future tracker showing you tomorrow temperatures do go below average then by friday look at these numbers. it feels a lot more like fall. here's

say the driver has four prior misdemeanor duis. now he's facing a murder charge, as well as charges of felony gross vehicular manslaughter, felony dui, and driving without a valid license. family and friends of 31 year old peace officer jessica avila munoz are mourning her death. prosecutors say that she was on her way to pick up her 13 year old daughter from school on friday, when a driver ran a red light and slammed into her. munoz later died at the hospital. authorities say that 68 year old nguyen van nguyen was under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his car in santa rosa, killing munoz. munoz had started working as a sonoma county juvenile correctional counselor last year. her coworkers are shocked and saddened over the news of her death. >> when i got the call from the santa rosa police chief and it took my breath away. >> she loved her daughter more than anything and was her number one priority. and i myself and i

that is down more than 22% compared to just last year. operating expenses increased 5% from a year ago. new this morning, ford motor company is shifting its electric vehicle strategy. their ceo, jim farley, announced it will roll out two new electric pickup trucks in 2027 and a new commercial van in 2026. ford also says it's ditching plans for fully electric three row suvs, and will focus on making hybrid suvs instead. the company says the new options will cost less and be more profitable. >> kroger is now suing the federal government after the federal trade commission blocked its proposed merger with albertsons. the lawsuit is challenging the ftc's authority and claims its process for ruling on mergers violates the constitution. this legal challenge comes after the supreme court weakened the power of regulatory agencies. in a ruling back in june. analysts believe the outcome of this case could have a big impact on

can't believe it. can you? here's a live look from the exploratorium camera. it's a mix of sun and clouds out there. we do have breezy and cooler days coming our way through the end of the week, and that culminates on friday with a fall feel and that comes with a chance of some light showers, even some drizzle. but by the weekend will warm it up. we'll bring back the sunshine. i do just want to give you an update on the tropics. we are watching the pacific very closely because hector is likely developing over the next 48 hours. the national hurricane center gives this system about a 90% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone. so where does this system go? it gets very close to the big island through the weekend. the center of the storm is likely going to pass south, but we will still see some effects, especially across maui and the big island in the form of some gusty winds and some rainfall through the weekend. saturday and sunday you can see some areas picking up several inches of rain, 3 to 5in or more than that. so just be aware. if you are traveling to hawaii you will feel some
