family have been on the receiving end of threats from this woman. we're showing you her photo because police say she's a threat to the public and have issued a warrant for her arrest. the woman, who goes by the name lacey is homeless and has reportedly threatened dozens of people in multiple san francisco neighborhoods. jenna says she screams and chases people and their children around city parks, threatening to murder them and shouting other vicious attacks. >> it's scary to kind of always feel like you just don't feel safe on your sidewalks anymore. you don't feel safe in the park, jenna says. >> these types of attacks first started happening around 2020. back then, neighbors created these fliers to post in city parks to notify people about the woman's actions. since then, neighbors have connected online to report incidents and to share information about her whereabouts. that includes elena dundee chenko, who works as a nanny and has had her own terrifying encounters with the woman. >> we tried to help the neighborhood nannies to learn about her. being in our neighborhood. >> the woman has been arrested
4:07 pm
multiple times over the years and currently has a warrant out for her arrest once again. despite that, though, she keeps on getting released back onto the streets. >> we cannot force, as the police department can't force her into mental health treatment. it's an issue that we run into with a lot of folks in the city who are suffering. >> a fact that's frustrating many neighbors. >> well, if that's the case, then something needs to change. i mean, we have to do something differently. then what is it that we need to do differently? >> feeling trapped and with nowhere to go, neighbors are asking for help to try and solve this issue once and for all, and not just for themselves and their families. >> she needs help. i mean, she used to be a productive member of society doing her thing. and i would love, love to see that for her. right. like this i would love to see a success story come of this. >> the san francisco police department is asking for the public's help today. they're encouraging anyone who sees the woman to not engage, but to immediately call 911. meanwhile, the public defender's office tells us it's not jail time, but support services that the woman

are not in the city, in our city, that they simply don't exist. >> the regional partnership would include cities from santa clara and san mateo counties. lopez is modeling this approach after an existing community partnership between benicia, fairfield, vacaville, vallejo and other cities in solano county. >> building a better bay area has become a community effort to try to prevent sideshows like this one. neighbors in oakland have taken matters into their own hands. they created a barrier to prevent reckless driving. but as abc seven news reporter anser hassan shows us, it didn't go as planned. reporter >> these sideshow videos show what residents in this oakland neighborhood are up against. >> it's every day. it's every day at 4:00 in the morning. it's every day at 5:00 in the morning. it's all the time. >> one salcedo has lived in oakland san antonio neighborhood for 30 years. the tire marks run six blocks around his neighborhood. his intersection is across from a middle school and park, so neighbors took the matters into their own hands.

>> we come out, and i try to confront them, and they pulled out guns on me, told me to go back inside my house. it's gone to the point where we're not scared anymore. we're angry. >> they installed speed bumps to slow down traffic and stop drag racing, and tires filled with concrete and dirt to stop the sideshows. and it worked, said salcedo. did those help? big time. huge. >> i mean, it helped in the sense that it prevented those guys from coming in. granted, they went looking for somewhere else, but at least it wasn't here. >> but after an alleged speeding driver hit one of the tires and flipped over, josh rowan, director of oakland's department of transportation, says he had them removed. rowan wasn't available for an interview, but in a statement to abc seven news, he says those traffic calming measures are in violation of city codes and that residents could be liable. >> what the did you do was thinking? >> on monday, rowan and other city leaders did a walk through of the neighborhood with residents. the city says they're looking into whether the rubber speed bumps can be made permanent and are considering a
4:11 pm
pilot traffic circle for the neighborhood. salcedo says residents know there are no easy fixes, but says they're going to make sure that the city follows through. >> we get it that there's policies and laws and all that stuff. we understand that. but we're like i said earlier, we're at a point where we're we're we're not scared. we're we're angry and we're going to do whatever it takes to turn around, protect our neighborhood. >> in oakland, anser hassan abc seven news. >> coming up on abc seven news at four. a golden state warrior name and spirit. al attles has passed. we have a look back at how this legendary warriors player and coach and general manager forever shaped the franchise. >> back to class. san jose state university starts a new semester today with some big changes on campus, and it is still summer, but a blaring signal of fall arrives tomorrow. >> you are right, larry. i'm spencer christian. get ready for some breezy, cooler and possibly wet weather coming our way. i'll have the accuweather forecast in

held in the highest regard. i've always called al attles the noblest warrior of them all. >> you know, he coached. he played for the team. he coached the team. he was in the front office. >> attles is a former player and coach who led the franchise to its first title since moving to the bay area in 1975. former chronicle sportswriter chuck nevius says attles broke barriers with the league. >> this is one of the first black coaches in the nba. this was this. this didn't happen. black coaches were not hired. black players played. but there weren't black coaches. and it wasn't easy for him. >> i know a warrior through and through, down to his core. he was drafted by the team in 1960 when they were in philadelphia. he followed them back west and stayed with them well. after he was done playing and coaching, it was the longest stint with one franchise in the history of the nba in terms of personifying what it meant to be an nba player, an nba coach, a warrior. >> i think he was it. >> he stayed with the warriors to be an ambassador after his playing and coaching career, he was seen at the parades when the

warriors won their recent championships with 557 wins. he is the winningest coach in warriors history, even more than steve kerr, who called attles a mentor. >> and when i became coach here, one of the first things i did was invite him in to speak to the team. and al is basically mr. warrior. >> in 2019, he received the highest honor one could get in the sport of basketball. ladies and gentlemen, al attles. >> humble, honored and most grateful to be forever known as a hall of famer. >> thank you for recognizing me. god bless you all from the bottom of my heart with that distinction. >> nevius says attles cemented his legacy. >> he's one of those people that you're going to talk about in the history of bay area sports. his name is going to come up al attles, a forever warrior in san francisco. >> ryan curry, abc seven news. >> and i was fortunate enough to have the privilege of spending some time with al attles at games and sitting next to him
4:18 pm
just to get his insights. and you heard in ryan's piece there, like the deep, raspy, gravelly voice that al had, he could have been a great broadcaster, but it is totally opposite of what his personality was, which was sweet and kind. but when he was out on the basketball court, he was ferocious. and that's how he got the name of the destroyer al attles, one of a kind, and he will be missed. >> what a contrast. what a life. yeah. all right. >> the secret is out. former san francisco mayor willie brown will be honored with this. a new bronze sculpture designed by renowned artist artist bibbe apollo, has created a 70 pound bust of mayor brown. the san francisco sculptor shared video of the project with abc seven news. according to the chronicle, the work was commissioned by mayor brown's friends. as for where it will be put on display, that announcement will come following the november election. the artist apollo is best known for his giant murals, many of which can be seen around san francisco. it really has his
