in the same month. a harris campaign official believes they will pass the $500 million mark in fundraising within the next few days, and abc news will continue special live coverage of the democratic national convention leading up to harris's nomination acceptance speech. it all begins tomorrow at 6:00, right here on abc seven. all right, new at 11. >> it is a wedding dress disaster with just days to go until the big day. the dress for a bay area bride to be simply hasn't turned up. and while she is certainly frustrated and worried, she says the wedding must go on. abc seven news reporter j.r. stone is in the east bay to get to the bottom of it. >> i'm excited about being married now. i'm very nervous for the wedding. i'm not going to lie. >> that's bride to be. akeelah mungazi. she's a bit nervous because this beautiful dress that she had planned to wear on her upcoming wedding, september 1st, is nowhere to be found. literally, this bridal shop where she bought the dress and was getting it tailored in pittsburgh is now gone.

>> one of them is trevor leopold. he died of an accidental overdose in 2019 while a freshman at sonoma state university. his mother, michelle, turned fierce advocate, partnering with public health departments across the bay area hosting naloxone training events and countless speaking engagements, most recently returning to sonoma state. >> we got to talk to the incoming freshmen and transfer students about trevor's life and his death, and at the end, they asked if anybody uh- who learned something from this talk and everybody raised their hand. one push, and that is one whole dose. >> and the dea wants more parents doing more talking. >> today is the perfect day to have that conversation with your kids, pointing to the latest data from the cdc showing drug overdoses are now the number one killer of americans between the ages of 18 and 45. let them know how deadly this is. it really

is. one pill can kill, and it's now easier to access than ever. social media is now a superhighway for fentanyl distribution. >> the dea says cartel members and street dealers are using encrypted apps to advertise organized delivery and get paid all in one device. you need to know what they're doing on social media. >> you need to know these are people out there that are targeting them. they look at them for profit. >> counterfeit pills infiltrating the market seven out of ten pills tested by the dea have potentially lethal doses of fentanyl. >> you have to know if you're buying a pill on social media. it's not going to be a legitimate pill. it's going to be a fentanyl pill. >> tara campbell, abc seven news. >> this is a story we've been following for a while. the possible end of a trauma center in the south bay. we told you last week, regional medical center in east san jose was being downgraded, but now santa clara county has stepped in. it plans on buying the hospital as a way to save vital services for the community. the county also plans on bringing back labor and delivery services at the medical center. those ended in 2020. this is a huge victory for the

uses of its generative artificial intelligence systems. abc seven news reporter lauren martinez gives us a closer look at the epicenter of artificial intelligence. >> amazon is bringing talent together in downtown san francisco. amazon web services opened their generative ai hub wednesday night. it's a pop up space where entrepreneurs, startups, founders and developers can collaborate. >> generative ai is like a new thing for all of us, and we're all trying to figure out how to not just like, chat, but really build really valuable, useful applications. >> ai art was on display. a robotic arm uses software that can mimic real brushstrokes. artists can make a design and then sell it to multiple buyers. another demonstration was held by an artist who did a q&a using her holographic avatar. we spoke with jamie neuwirth, head of startups at anthropic. >> i think that i hope that people come here with an idea for what they want to build. it's great to have something in san francisco. people can come

in person. a lot of creative folks here are building new things. asking a lot of questions. again, all these tools are so new and so having a space for everyone to work together and collaborate, especially right here, right on market street, is really exciting. >> since this is a party, instead of ordering a drink at the bar, people are lined up to plug in what they'd like to drink and ingredients to this generative ai mixologist, which will print out a drink for them and bartenders will make around the corner. the technology gets really interesting when it starts learning about you. >> what do you like? do you like your drink strong? >> tech analyst mark vena thinks this hub will be a good testbed for smaller scale companies. >> they do listen to developers. what they don't like, what they do like, and i just think that it'll be a very interesting experience, especially from a for small companies that want to develop applications that just don't want to go out and hire 50 people. these autonomous robots will roam market street to promote the new hub that will be open until mid-october. >> in san francisco, lauren martinez abc seven news.

>> google has reached a $250 million deal with the state that will put an end to two bills that would have forced tech companies to pay news organizations for their content. instead google will now pay out the 250 million over the next five years to support newsrooms, as well as an artificial intelligence incubator. but there is considerable pushback, including from a local lawmaker who authored one of those bills. >> they've been able to take the data that they've gotten from you and me and monetize it in advertising in a more effective way, and that's caused damages to the newsrooms of the state. and i feel like there's an obligation on google and meta and amazon to be a part of the solution in a significant way. and this, this agreement that was announced today just simply doesn't do that. >> however, governor newsom is praising the deal, saying the money will support hundreds of new journalists. >> for years, there have been efforts to extend alcohol sales and keep bars open. later in

california, it may finally happen, but there is a catch. lawmakers passed a bill, but the only place that would get to stay open until 4 a.m. is the new club. inside the intuit dome in inglewood. it's the new home of the los angeles clippers. the club holds about 100 people. currently, state law prohibits alcohol sales between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. the most recent attempt to extend hours failed in 2022. this new bill now heads to the governor's desk. >> you to is going back to the sphere in las vegas. sort of the legendary band that first started playing shows there last year when the sphere opened, is now letting you see them again in movie form. they're going to debut an immersive concert film that will be played inside the sphere, mimicking what it would be like to watch u2 play there live. the first film showing is september the 5th. tickets start at $100. they start going on sale tomorrow for subscribers of u2 dot com, so they get to play the sphere without actually playing the sphere. yeah, as you know, i saw that show in the

sphere and it was incredible. incredible. it was spectacular. i left thinking, well, that's the future of live entertainmen. >> that's awesome. all right, let's get to our weather. >> future of weather. >> sandhya patel is here, sandy. >> yeah, it's going to be something else as well. dan and i want to show you live doppler seven. that low that is off the pacific northwest coast is what we are watching. and it is pretty much unseasonably early to see this happen in august. that trough dives down and we will notice that rain starts to move into northern california. flash flood watch for the burn scar area up to our north. the park fire areas friday morning to saturday morning. you'll see why, as we put this into motion here as that trough comes in friday morning, the rain begins and it just intensifies going into friday evening and even into saturday. now rainfall projections over an inch in eureka. redding looking at 8000/200 of an inch. south lake tahoe possibility of a few hundredths, but this is pretty much why mudslides and debris

flows are possible in that burn scar area. so something to keep in mind. all right, let's look at tahoe thursday tomorrow. sunny and breezy in the low 70s. but if you're traveling up on friday it does turn gusty. and there's a chance late in the evening. certainly cooler. saturday chance of showers and then bright and warmer as we head into sunday so you can make your plans accordingly. a live view from our golden gate bridge camera right now. we do have some fog out there, temperatures in the 50s and the 60s. the view from exploratorium. pretty much showing you the marine layer is back next two days. breezy and even cooler today. as you know, temperatures started to drop fall like for friday with drizzle and a slight chance of showers and sunday through early next week. we are expecting sunnier weather and it's going to be heating up. no heat to speak of tomorrow morning. it's going to be fog and a little bit of mist and drizzle as we head towards the 8:00 hour. still going to be around and then in the afternoon hanging around near the coastline. another breezy day is on tap. your

morning temperatures will be in the 50s and the 60s certainly give yourself a little more time, as that fog could slow you down high temperatures with the breezy conditions, lingering clouds mid 60s all the way to the low 80s. so below average for this time of year. now we go into friday and here's what that system is going to do for us. 830 in the morning you start to notice some drizzle friday morning and then the possibility of some showers as we head towards early afternoon. best chance will be in the north bay in the evening on friday. it will stay north of our area for the most part and then early saturday could get one last push of moisture before this system is done. early projections about a third of an inch in ukiah, but for the rest of us, we are looking at anywhere from nothing measurable to a few hundredths of an inch. overall, though, if we do get any moisture, the good news is it would help reduce the fire danger. and of course, with the wind coming in, actually wash away some of the pollen and clean out our air. the accuweather seven day forecast cooling continues. the next couple of days, temperatures bottoming out below average only

(♪) klaus, an icon with the passing of longtime warrior al attles, who was 87 years old. adell spent more than 60 years in the warriors organization, starting back as a player for the then philadelphia warriors as a player. he was known for his toughness, earning the nickname the destroyer. he led the golden state warriors to their first title in 1975 as coach, and served as gm advisor ambassador. everything attles had been battling health issues in recent years, passing yesterday. he's a man who will be sorely missed. >> just a constant presence around the organization. and when i became coach here, one of the first things i did was invite him in to speak to the team and uh- al is basically mr. warrior.
