acceptance speech. >> all of this starts at 6:00 right here on abc seven. >> donald trump may soon have a new high profile supporter, amanda. abc news reporting that rfk jr. may drop out of the race as soon as tomorrow. yeah reggie. >> and that probable decision to drop out was hinted at by rfk's running mate, nicole shanahan, earlier this week on a podcast, but sources are now telling abc news an endorsement of trump would come with a price. rfk jr. wants a position on trump's cabinet. it's an idea trump seems to be open to. >> i like him a lot. i respect him a lot. i probably would if something like that would happen. he's a very different kind of a guy, very smart guy. and yeah, i would be honored by that endorsement. >> abc news is reporting rfk jr also reached out to the harris campaign with the same offer, but that went nowhere. polling shows rfk voters favor harris over trump, but would rather vote for someone else entirely. rfk jr says he will be, quote, addressing the nation tomorrow

in phoenix. trump is expected to be in arizona today. >> thank you amanda. in the south bay this morning, community members and advocates celebrating a big win. santa clara county says it's buying regional medical center. and it's planning to restore critical health services that the current owner cut. this is a story we have been following for months now. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez joining us live. and gloria, this is a big development, but still a lot of work to be done. there is kumasi. >> the county says it still has to take formal steps to finalize that sale. that includes licensure, state approvals. also, more negotiations on the final sale price. for now, the county and hca agreed on a $175 million price tag. and yesterday, santa clara county made its major announcement that they reached a preliminary agreement to acquire regional medical center in east san jose. the county plans to restore trauma services, along with stroke and heart attack service, and it also plans to restore labor and delivery services that closed back in 2020. hca healthcare, the company that

owns regional medical center, announced plans earlier this year to close the trauma center because of a decline in utilization. and then the plans change from a full closure to a downgrade in resources on august 12th. a coalition of patients and advocates fought to keep the community's only trauma center open through demonstrations like this one, with community members carrying coffins. the acquisition comes months after the county shuffled the budget to make up a $250 million deficit. >> the good news is that we have recently received some significant reimbursements from fema associated with our covid 19 activity. that's a one time resource that's just come our way, that will significantly help fund the acquisition of regional. >> advocates are hoping this sale happens quickly and doesn't take months, saying that lives are on the line. the county says it hopes to close in the first quarter of 2025. and of course,

but you can close your windows overnight to avoid exposure to the pesticide. >> this morning, a bay area woman dealing with a nightmare no bride wants to deal with. just days before her wedding, her dress has disappeared. >> akilah mungoshi bought the dress from a bridal shop in pittsburgh. it was still there for alterations when she went to check on it. the shop and everything inside was gone. mwongozo was able to make contact with the woman who ran the shop. she got an address where she was told to pick up the dress, but no one was there. when she showed up. despite all the stress, mwongozo is trying to stay positive, saying it could have been worse. she almost brought her fiance's tux to that shop. >> i'm excited about being married, now i'm very nervous for the wedding. i'm not going to lie. >> we reached out to the bridal shop. we haven't heard back. mwangosi has had an outpouring of support. her friends have offered up dresses. strangers on the internet saw the story. one

sunday though. it's a much nicer day. lots of sunshine and we're warming up. those temperatures bounce above average to finish out the weekend. that warming trend does continue into next week. an update on the tropics. we're still watching hector. the national hurricane center is now likely going to call this a tropical depression or tropical storm. this afternoon. and now we're getting better confidence as to where the center of the storm is going. what you're looking at is what we call spaghetti plots in the weather world. all you need to know is when they're clustered close together, that gives us high confidence to the track of the center of the storm. the center will stay south of the big island, but we will still see some rainfall and some rough surf later on this weekend. not as much rain as we were thinking yesterday. a couple of inches are likely on the big island, even maui county, but thankfully the center of the storm stays well south. so some good news there. back here at home, this low pressure is now making its way towards us. that is bringing the cooler weather and also the chance of some drizzle tomorrow. today it's all about 70s inland.

israel says hamas was using the facility, but hasn't given evidence to prove that. this morning, san francisco police are asking you to keep an eye out for a woman who has been threatening people at parks. residents say she's been harassing them for years, and police say the encounters have become increasingly aggressive. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez is here with the scary situation and what's being done about it. >> good morning reggie. residents in various san francisco neighborhoods say the woman is chased them, threatened to kill them or their young children, or even yelled other menacing threats. they say it's been happening for years around laurel village. the inner richmond and coal valley, and they are fed up. now this is a flier with images of the woman who goes by the name of lacey, and we're showing you these images because san francisco police say she's a threat to the public. a judge has issued a new arrest warrant for her san francisco mother, jenna p says that lacey screams and chases people and their children around city parks, threatening murder and shouting other vicious

help. one day after a student was shot near campus. the shooting forced the school to go on a lockout yesterday, so that means school continued. but nobody was allowed on campus. the shooting happened at north point and polk streets during the school's lunch time. witnesses say a student was shot in the shoulder. they had to be taken to the hospital. they don't have life threatening injuries. the incident frightened students and staff. >> just got the, the signal over the intercom that we were going into lockdown and sad. and a little alarming. >> police have not said if the shooter was also a student in the east bay. >> neighbors of one oakland community have taken matters into their own hands to prevent sideshows and reckless driving. but the efforts to keep their streets safe hasn't gone as planned. this oakland neighborhood has been plagued by constant sideshows. residents got together to set up speed bumps and filled tires with concrete and dirt to stop the sideshows. initially that worked, but the city had to

remove the obstacles because of city code violations. >> we get it that there's policies and laws and all that stuff. we understand that. but we're like i said earlier, we're at a point where we're we're we're not scared. we're we're angry and we're going to do whatever it takes to turn around, protect our neighborhoo. >> city leaders visited the neighborhood recently. they say they are looking into the possibility of making permanent speed bumps. >> a principal in the central valley has been placed on administrative leave after a video left some parents pretty upset. so the. here's a video. the principal works at a school in merced county, and this video shows principal robert nunez dancing with the school mascot during a rally. it went viral after a student posted it. after a parent found the video. the school sent out a letter saying nunez had been put on leave. as they investigate. well
