contract for us. it's really never happened in any american sports league, all the three that you just named. not having a draft, although exciting in the moment, to be able to choose where you want to live, where you want to play, with all considerations, reproductive rights, tax laws, culture and facilities and everything within a team and a state that's provided. it's so important for the players to have that power back and be able to choose. >> robin: in most professions, industries you are able to choose where you go. i know you are all grateful about playing your sport. and, brianna, are there concerns that it could allow bigger market teams to sign the free agents and leaving the smaller revenue teams out in the cold? >> i think this is such a massive accomplishment for players because it allows this club to make the decision to provide a professional environment that appeals to players all across the world.
8:19 am
we're really excited about the new found agency, getting to choose where you play. this is something players have been looking forward to for years. >> robin: also, brianna, all contracts guaranteed much like very other sport except for football. that was very important. why? >> that is important to us because it protects you from situations that are outside of your control. whether that be a health condition, an injury or just an on field playing performance. you will be guaranteed that you have your contract through the end of your term. >> robin: alex, alex, my friend. you are a proud mama. there's also a family building benefit. please tell everybody about that. >> yeah. i'm really proud of this part of our contract.
8:20 am
we're able to now travel with our children and bring child care providers. but also look at future planning as well for our families. and that's providing players with access to fertility clinics and a lot of other resources that aren't -- that weren't available to us before. these are sort of things that you don't see in men's leagues. and so we had to think outside the box and look at protecting and supporting moms as much as possible. because i didn't want to choose back in 2019, i was at the height of my career. i didn't want to choose keep playing soccer or be a mom. i wanted to do both. so to be part of this and actually have a say in this contract is so groundbreaking. i'm really proud. >> robin: you do both so exceptionally well, alex. do you expect players unions from other sports to try to get some of these same provisions in their contracts? do you see that happening maybe? >> i think that what we're doing is making changes that puts a little bit of the power back in the players. i can definitely see some other leagues looking towards seeing how we attained these -- how we attained these benefits within
8:21 am
our contract and how they can do that. i mean, there's leagues that have been around for 50 or 100 years that haven't been able to attain the things we have in our contract, and we're only in our 12th year. so it's pretty incredible what we've been able to achieve. i hope this does, you know, kick start a little bit more putting a little more freedom and choice back into the players' hands. >> robin: i agree with you. you were in the room for those final negotiation. it's unprecedented for a league to give up so much control to the players. why do you think the league agreed to all of this? >> well, first of all, it was an honor to be in the room for negotiating. it helped the league put names to faces and see our true humanity. i think that made it ever present about the demands that we were putting on the league. overall we learned that when the players win, we all win.
8:22 am
we're super excited about this accomplishment. >> robin: rightfully so. brianna, alex, all of us in the studio, we're beaming. you know how we feel about you all. and so grateful that you came to good morning america to share this fantastic news. the best to you all. thank you so much. >> thank you, robin. >> thank you, robin. >> robin: all right. you take care. let's go now to ginger. >> ginger: thank you, robin. the winds are starting to kick up because we've got a big pattern shift happening. fires are going to be spreading more easily. this one west of denver. just a couple hundred acres. but more than 6,000 acres now burning here in wyoming. this one was started by lightning friday then kicked up because of all these winds. red flag warnings in place from idaho right through utah, nevada, parts of the sierra nevada. watch as this comes through because it will be cooler but all the burn scars

8:35 am
being in control, used to knowing what needs to be done and getting it done. what's it look like when she's broken and trying to heal from that level of trauma? we really get to see her be vulnerable. did you ask if she wanted to have a lawyer present? i'm guessing no. finally, you keep referring to mr. tucker as the victim when the real victim is lying right here with multiple injuries from a man whose rath she endured not just today, but for many years. so make sure you write that down. >> george: you go there in this show. lot of tough things. really spark conversations between friends. >> there's a very heavy scene of domestic violence. one of the characters, chanel, one of my good friends on the show, we learn she has been in a very abusive relationship with her husband for years. that's a conversation between friends. when you don't realize, how did i miss this? how did i not know this was happening, you know?
8:36 am
we're really hoping that, in itself, is going to spark a lot of conversation. for people to talk to each other to really ask questions, to check on your friends, especially the ones you think are strong, that look good all the time. those are ones sometimes that are calling out for help but you don't know it. >> robin: oh, wow. >> george: how do you prepare for those tough conversations? >> you know, i think by just laying in the truth of it. do you know what i mean? what it feels like. how i felt. although i haven't been in that kind of situation. but when i'm going through something and i want someone to come and help me. i want someone to lend an ear. i know what that feels like. i kind of use that going into a situation like this. >> robin: sometimes you just want people to listen. you don't need a solution. just listen to me. >> that's it. see me and hear me, you know? from the domestic violence theme, we also, just dealing with mental health. with jax, she's in therapy, in counseling because of this trauma. what that looks like. seeing people in counseling, especially black people. especially black men.
8:37 am
my husband is also in therapy, trying to work it out, you know? taking off some of the stigma behind things like that. >> robin: thank you for being here and showing boldness. can i also say, your character can dress. [ laughter ] >> she can. >> robin: you make a point not to bring that wardrobe home. you have a reason why. >> where am i going to wear it? where am i going to wear it? everyone will know. if i would take one of jax bad business suits with the crossover and go to the coffee shop, people are gonna say what? [ laughter ] where is the camera? why are you out here wearing that? as much as i would like to keep the outfits, i'm never gonna wear them again. just leave it right there. i don't want to become a horder or pack rat. [ laughter ] >> robin: you don't need any help. >> gio: it's throw back thursday. 2018 you have this music video, right? with jay-z. got beyonce.
8:38 am
family feud video. what's your favorite memory from that? >> oh my goodness. i think one of my favorite memories was running with david agellio. there was a scene where we got to take off. he tried to race me. i'm very fast. i'm very fast. that might have been one of my favorite moments, yeah. >> robin: oh, wow. you are delightful. you're just rounding first base. you got a good head of steam. i know we're going to see so much from you. right here right now. but first two episodes of the new season of "reasonable doubt." so glad you're here. kerry will be on tomorrow. should we ask her something? >> you should. you should. 8:43 am
event to reveal the color, which included a red carpet entrance, a great on stage review, everybody could see the power of rumors and a color like this. go ahead and tell us why rumors is so special. >> we are thrilled that rumors is our 2025 color of the year. we know people are really looking for bolder, richer hues. rumors is a wonderful red, modern uptake, reimagined red for 2025. we know that, again, we're helping people bring color confidently into their homes. >> ginger: should we move over and start doing it. so let's start here. the front. the front door. my oma, my grandma, had a red front door. it is so dear to me. tell me why this statement is so important. >> very distinctive, timeless, red front door. it's the first impression that your home makes when your guests
8:44 am
are walking up. it's an easy project. an easy way to have impact. if you use this color in a high gloss sheen, it really pops the color, adds some depth and curb appeal. >> ginger: you know the application is important if you're making this bold statement. what is important when we're painting the front door? >> you definitely want to make sure that you're picking the right color. i'm also telling people look at the door you're updating. this is a three panel that will instantly make your house feel more modernized. >> ginger: let's head over. now we're in the kitchen. everybody loves a pop of color. easy to do, but maybe just something to learn here. how does this color bring personality? what will it say in your kitchen? >> i think that your cabinets are huge real estate in your kitchen and really set the tone. you can go really adventurous and use rumors on all of your cabinets or go two tone like we have here. or for a little surprise pop of color, you can put it on the inside.
8:45 am
really makes you smile every time you open up your cabinet doors. >> ginger: that's the safe way. if you're doing cabinet, what do we keep in mind when we go to start painting? >> it's definitely an intimidating project. take time to do the prep work. if that's still too intimidating we carry unfinished cabinets. >> ginger: so you can start fresh. easy enough. should we go to living area? this is where you have your visitors. this is where you probably have the most traffic when you've got people in. >> this is where people are gathering. rumors makes a really nice accent statement. creates a warm inviting welcoming atmosphere. it coordinates very nicely with other neutrals. when you add in touches of gold that note of luxe comes through. >> ginger: we all know you do an accent wall. but what about texture.
8:46 am
>> texture is having a comeback. that's another project that's pretty diy friendly. all you need is a mitre box, patience and math skills. >> ginger: you would just paint right over that. makes even more of a statement. thank you, both. wonderful to have you with us. i have learned enough that i'm ready to go make some bold choice. rumors is the color, and now we know all about it. this year it is happening. erika, sarah, thank you. coming up on gma, we've got more. chef max robbins will be updating your dinner. he's got ragu with a twist. plus a salad with a little twist. stick around. gma keeping it colorful is sponsored by
8:49 am
this name. lett lettuce, lettuce entertainment. celebrity chef max robbins here. good morning. when we think about ragu, we think about beef. now you're talking about egg plant. >> we're talking about classic comfort foods but a little more contemporary, right? foods you can eat every day that taste like it's been cooked all day, really comforting. easy, fresh. something you want to eat. >> gio: you just want to do it quick. so what do we got here? >> first step with this is the egg plant, right? this egg plant is slow cooked. cooked in oil. really what we're going to do is really develop this meaty flavor. it's a tip i learned in fine dining restaurants that you can apply to everyday cooking. you can save that oil. you can use it to marinade, salad dressings. >> gio: you really want to cook an egg plant. >> this has been cooked for about an hour slowly in oil. we'll get to it in a minute. the first thing is put our butter in and vegetables.
8:50 am
do you want to do it? i'll do it. drop that garlic in. >> gio: there we go. that smells good already. >> give it a little stir here. we're gonna let this cook slowly. the key to everything is cook slow, take your time, layer flavors. that's what we want to do. >> gio: is thawhe egg plant? >> it will have a little residual oil so it will help sizzle everything, help you cook everything. then those mushrooms, too. those mushrooms are slow cooked. you're going to rehydrate them. they'll have the same texture as beef. all vegetable, all vegetarian. >> gio: tricking the mind a little bit. this is gonna cook for a little bit. >> gio: now our wine? >> yeah. >> gio: this is a canned sauce. >> 100%. in a restaurant, we might spend five, six, eight hours making sauce. but at home, no one has time. the short cut is, use a canned sauce but pick a simple one. you don't want too many flavors because they're going to compete with the flavors we choose to add.
8:51 am
>> gio: right. we're adding all this stuff, right? >> add it all in, let it cook. absolutely. >> gio: and once you get to the pasta over here. >> this is going to slow cook for awhile. over here it's going to be the pasta. add the pasta in. i like dried pasta. you can find premium in a nice grocery store. >> gio: putting some butter there. >> got to finish it with butter. another tip is we're going to add parmesan directly into the pasta. again, layers of flavor. as it melts, it will help the pasta adhere to the sauce. >> gio: all right. nice. okay. you're a culinary director. where do you get these ideas? i mean, this is just -- >> we should start by saying what do people want to eat? lot of chefs are like, here's what i want to do. here's what i'm gonna tell people. we just asked what do people want to eat and what do they relate to. try to cook food people like, that they can relate to, can eat every day. they can crave, come back for. put a little pasta in here.
8:52 am
>> gio: mama is over here. mama. look at her. you proud of your son?
