seemingly a parking lot. just look at that backup trying to get into the city. all but one lane was shut down for more than an hour. chp says a car hit a motorcycle with two riders just before treasure island. one of the people on the motorcycle was taken to the hospital. traffic was moving again just before three, though there were long delays in the south bay. the red cross is helping 14 residents displaced from their east san jose townhouse following a fire. it started yesterday afternoon just before three on cicero way. investigators say it was fast moving and driven by the wind. >> i want to say maybe 10 or 15 minutes. it went from just being a small little fire in the front door to engulfing the entire house. i was like, wow. it surprised me a lot. i pulled it over and i yanked it, and that's when i tried spraying the fire away. but in reality, it's so big that the hose doesn't really do much because they, the firefighters took like a good hour to even get it, like calmed

down. so i was never going to do anything with a tiny little hose. >> it actually took more than 40 firefighters to two hours to put out the flames. one firefighter was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the cause is still under investigation. the san francisco fire department is investigating the cause of an early morning fire in the sunset district. crews arrived to flames at great wall hardware on taraval, near 18th avenue, just before 4 a.m. the store is in supervisor joel engardio district. he says there were no injuries, but the store owner's mother and two other tenants who lived above the store were displaced. we have new details about a deadly shooting at a sideshow in vallejo, resulting in a police pursuit and a confiscated python the sideshow happened at louis brown road and b.w. williams drive friday night. officers believe a man was killed in a car, but it's not clear if he

was part of the sideshow. search continues for the gunman. the chronicle reports that police say there were more than 20 gunshots during the sideshow. that involved about 500 vehicles. officers say someone inside a cadillac shined a laser pointer at them during the sideshow. they chased that car and arrested the driver and hercules. they also cited three passengers. vallejo police say they also confiscated this from the cadillac. a ten foot python. developing news on the conflict in the middle east. israel launched a series of airstrikes into lebanon early sunday, calling them preemptive strikes against the militant group hezbollah. abc news reporter britt clennett has the latest from israel. >> the night sky lit up over the israel-lebanon border as israel launched airstrikes against hezbollah, they say, aimed at taking out the militant group's military targets. the loss of pasok prime minister benjamin netanyahu, saying the idf was ordered to launch the attacks as

hezbollah prepared an extensive and imminent attack on israel. a u.s. official confirming the united states was not involved in the preemptive strikes by israel, but that the u.s. had provided support in tracking incoming hezbollah attacks. sirens heard blaring across northern israel as hezbollah claims it fired more than 340 rockets aimed at 11 military locations inside israel and the golan heights in retaliation for those israeli strikes. three weeks ago that killed its top military commander in beirut. hezbollah's leader, hassan nasrallah, speaking today saying israel's airstrikes was aggression, not a preemptive act, and that this phase of their attack has ended unless they determine the need to respond further. meanwhile, in gaza, the idf announcing a new evacuation order for a small strip of land in deir al-balah in a humanitarian area that includes tent camps and five schools that are sheltering displaced people. arwa neve speaking to me from deir al-balah, saying she's frustrated by the inability of the leaders to end the

suffering. >> we people on the ground, we are not among the calculations of any of these parties. >> defense secretary lloyd austin, speaking with israel's defense minister today and ordering both aircraft carriers in the middle east to remain there as a deterrent to the conflict broadening. us chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, general c-q brown, meeting with egyptian leaders as talks to secure a ceasefire and return the remaining hostages resume in cairo. but today hamas releasing a statement saying it does not accept the latest offer on the table. britt clennett, abc news, tel aviv. >> the long wait for a hostage deal has been heartbreaking for the family of hersh goldberg-polin, the 23 year old, raised in berkeley, has been held hostage for more than ten months. friends and supporters of goldberg-polin gathered on the pedestrian overpass above 8-80, near university avenue this afternoon. hamas took him from a music festival on october 7th, and he's been held hostage ever since. goldberg, poland's parents, spoke at the dnc this week, getting emotional to

chants of bring them home! organizers of today's rally told us they want to raise awareness about goldberg-polin and more than 100 other hostages. ukrainians around the world are celebrating the 33rd anniversary of the country's independence from the soviet union. today, bay area ukrainian americans held their 25th annual independence day festival in golden gate park. traditional ukrainian music, arts and dance were on display at the music concourse bandshell. organizers say the concert also helps remind people of their culture amid russia's current war in ukraine. >> you can always count on ukrainian to be very optimistic in spite of everything they might be going through as a country. think music, song, dance, really bring people together. really remind people of the true spirit of the country that helps us overcome burdens and challenges and everything going on. >> a concert after party is being held until 6 p.m. at the

saint michael ukrainian orthodox church in san francisco. this morning, a rally was held for san francisco supervisor aaron peskin and his mayoral campaign. several lgbtq plus leaders and community members, including former assemblymember tom ammiano, former state senator mark leno, and activist cleve jones, spoke in support of peskin at dubose park. they say peskin is the leader who can carry harvey milk's torch. peskin faces incumbent mayor london breed, former interim mayor mark farrell, nonprofit founder daniel lurie, and supervisor ahsha safai. on the november ballot. some students in the south bay may need another way to get to school tomorrow. samtrans is alerting people that service could be impacted over the next two days. why? there may not be anyone to drive the busses. vandalized and burglarized an independent pharmacy in the east bay is now counting on the community to help. >> and just gorgeous weather all around the bay area with lots of

line service from richmond to millbrae was not running for part of the morning. bart says one line of service lost power and says the issue was resolved by 10 a.m. on friday night. service was stopped between ashby west oakland, rockledge and lake merritt because of an equipment problem on the track near the macarthur station. samtrans is warning of possible service disruptions tomorrow because of a labor protest. the union, representing about 400 bus operators, utility and other workers, is threatening a work stoppage after rejecting a contract proposal from the district. samtrans is advising customers to seek alternative transportation options monday and possibly tuesday. the transit system also says the labor action could potentially affect school bus lines. samtrans says it will prioritize school service and paratransit service will not be disrupted. hurricane joan brought heavy rain and damaging winds to

the sierra nevada peaks. the national weather service estimates that around three inches of snow fell around the area friday night into saturday. many resorts reported dusting.

the last time it snowed in august on the sierra nevada crest was way back in 2003. that frosty weather system brought rain to lower elevations near tahoe. the wet roads led to several crashes on i-80 yesterday. a stretch of westbound lanes was closed for a time. chp truckee posted this picture today saying roads are wet and slick over donner summit. happening now. hurricane joan is swirling past hawaii, dumping up to a foot of rain in some spots. flooding closed roads and overflowed bridges on the big island. 85 mile per hour winds knocked out power to about 15,000 people. local officials say there are no reports of injuries at this point. hawaii's department of transportation says all round trip flights between honolulu and hilo were canceled yesterday because of the storm. >> the captain had announced that right now, the winds have picked up and so it's higher than anticipated. so it's unsafe for us to fly at the moment.

>> the one positive forecasters say all the rain canceled out fire danger from strong winds on the drier side of the islands, joined right now by meteorologist frances dinglasan. our weather is a little different than hawaii right now, that's for certain. >> yeah, we had a little bit of rain yesterday and then today we had gorgeous blue skies. temperatures are going to continue to climb in the next couple of days, and i'll show you how warm it will be as we show you. look at live doppler seven, the satellite radar image. we have high pressure in place that is pushing all the clouds out of the way. and here's a live view of the golden gate bridge in san francisco. it's currently 72 oakland, 78. san jose 83. half moon bay 70 degrees. so it's a gorgeous beach day. and some areas, the warmest ones are in fairfield and concord, near the upper 80s fairfield 88, livermore and santa rosa, hanging on to 84 degrees right now. so we're quite a bit warmer than yesterday at this time, anywhere from two to about 11 degrees warmer. i checked out fairfield

and travis air force base. that was actually a freak temperature yesterday. so generally is probably about ten degrees warmer compared to yesterday. and then here's a look from mount tam. blue skies and a little bit of some hazy conditions out there. but here's what you need to know. so overnight we'll start to see some low clouds push in with that marine layer along the beaches. and then tomorrow lots of sunshine for everyone. temperatures will be a little bit warmer, especially for inland neighborhoods. tuesday and wednesday is when we'll see warm to hot conditions near triple digits in some areas, and that could mean moderate heat risk. so tonight temperatures will drop into the mid 50s to low 60s. so the kids will need maybe an extra layer if they're heading to school early tomorrow morning, although they probably won't want to bring one because there's going to be lots of sunshine once again. and temperatures will be climbing in san francisco. look for a high of 74. oakland 80 degrees, san jose 91, and our warmest spots will be fairfield and antioch. at around 97 degrees. it's going

to warm up even more on tuesday. that's where we'll see, possibly close to 100 in fairfield and in antioch, and also on wednesday, still hanging on to the heat inland. but notice around the bay things start to cool down, and then we'll notice a cool down for everyone around the bay and at the beaches, even inland areas on thursday. so here's the accuweather seven day forecast. warm to hot, plenty of sunshine. the next few days. it's going to be gorgeous out there for kids who are not at school, and then it will feel closer to normal by the end of the workweek. >> so summer's not over yet. >> yeah, not for some people. if you can but do they really? do they see that crick in your neck?
