month, and this rainbow studded parade down market street always steals the spotlight. >> sparkle. glitter. sequins all that. >> thousands showing up for silicon valley pride. this celebration giving vibes of lov, equality and inclusion. >> we are here today to celebrate pride and everyone, everyone understand. >> love is love. pride is all about representation. >> using whatever voice you have to speak up for those who can't. freedom. hope >> just pure joy. you won't break my soul. >> alicia ellington came from oakland determined to show her spectator moves. love is love and just being queer and being accepted is just all we all hope for. so it's hard not to dance and be happy. san jose mayor matt mehan telling us what pride means to him. >> to me, it says we should celebrate everybody for who they are. we're a beautifully diverse city. everybody should come as they are and be accepted and empowered to really realize their full potential.

>> but the presidential election only months away. many here say pride also means voting this november because there is so much at stake. look around, look around. right. >> everything is on the line and so hopefully we will get it right. >> everything from our congress down to our local elections. so it really matters that our new president comes in with a strong backing of a democratic majority, so we can get all the things we do to protect everyone's civil rights. >> go do your civic duty, is what i would say to that. regardless of what side you're on, really excited to show up and cast our vote and charlotte will be there with us. >> next year. silicon valley pride celebrates its 50th anniversary. organizers say an even bigger party is planned in san jose. cornell bernard. abc seven news. >> a traffic mess earlier today on the bay bridge. a bad crash stopped westbound traffic around 1:45 p.m, turning the bridge into a parking lot. at least it felt like that. just look at the backup trying to get into the city. all but one lane was shut

down for more than an hour. chp says a car hit a motorcycle just with two riders just before the treasure island area. one of the people on the motorcycles was taken to the hospital. traffic was moving again just before three, though there were long delays in the south bay. the red cross is helping 14 residents displaced from their east san jose townhouse following a fire. it started yesterday afternoon just before three on cicero way. investigators say it was fast moving and driven by the wind. >> i want to say maybe 10 or 15 minutes. it went from just being a small little fire in the front door to engulfing the entire house. i was like, wow. it surprised me a lot. i pulled it over and i yanked it, and that's when i tried spraying the fire away. but in reality, it's so big that the hose doesn't really do much because they the firefighters took like a good hour to even get it, like calmed down. so i was never going to do anything with a tiny little hose. >> it actually took more than 40 firefighters two hours to put

out the flames. one firefighter was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the cause is still under investigation. the san francisco fire department is investigating the cause of an early morning fire in the sunset district. crews arrived to flames at great wall hardware on taraval, near 18th avenue, just before 4 a.m. the store is in supervisor joel engardio district. he says there were no injuries, but the store owner's mother and two other tenants who lived above the store were displaced. we have new details about a deadly shooting at a vallejo sideshow, resulting in a police pursuit and a confiscated python sideshow happened at louis brown road and b.w. williams drive friday night. officers believe a man was killed in a car, but it's not clear if he was part of the sideshow. the search continues for the gunman. the chronicle reports that people say there were more than 20

gunshots during the sideshow that involved about 500 vehicles. officers say someone inside a cadillac shined a laser pointer at them during the sideshow. they chased that car and arrested the driver and hercules. they also cited three passengers. vallejo police say they also confiscated this from the cadillac. a ten foot python. the long wait for a hostage deal has been heartbreaking for the family of hersh goldberg-polin. the 23 year old, raised in berkeley, has been held hostage for more than ten months. today, his friends and supporters gathered on the pedestrian overpass above 8-80 near university avenue. abc seven news reporter ryan curry shares their message. >> this overpass is over one of the most popular freeways in all of the bay area, and right now it's full of people who are trying to send a message that they want the hostages freed overseas. this is in berkeley. where is the native home to hersh goldberg-polin, one of the hostages still in captivity, who

we know at the democratic national convention last week, his parents spoke, calling for peace in the region, calling for him and all of the other hostages freed. and so this group is gathering in berkeley, in his hometown, to call for that as well. but we know this is a highly contested issue. we saw some confrontations moments ago, and they're going to be here through the evening. and so we'll have the full report tonight at 11. i'm brian curry in berkeley for abc seven news. >> ryan, thank you so much. ukrainians around the world are celebrating the 33rd anniversary, the country's independence from the soviet union. today, bay area ukrainian americans held their 25th annual independence day festival at the music concourse bandshell in golden gate park. organizers say the concert also helps remind people of their culture amid russia's current war in ukraine. >> you can always count on ukrainian to be very optimistic in spite of everything they might be going through as a country. i think music, song and dance really bring people together, really remind people of the true spirit of the

country that helps us overcome burdens and challenges and everything going on. >> the independence day festival featured traditional ukrainian music, arts and dance. this morning, a rally was held for san francisco supervisor aaron peskin and his mayoral campaign. several lgbtq plus leaders and community members, including former assemblymember tom ammiano, former state senator mark leno, and activist cleve jones, spoke in support of peskin at dubose park. they say peskin is the leader who can carry harvey milk's torch. peskin faces incumbent mayor london breed. former interim mayor mark farrell, nonprofit founder daniel lurie and supervisor asha safai on the safai that is on the november ballot. some students in the south bay may need another way to get to school tomorrow. samtrans is alerting people that service could be impacted over the next two days. while there may not be anyone to drive, the busses also vandalized and

according to a gofundme, the front door of the medicine shop in orinda village square shows the plight. it's all boarded up. gofundme says all the break ins happened between 3 and 5 a.m, with the thieves in and out in just two minutes. gofundme says the pharmacy is no longer stocking certain medications because of those crimes. another day of service disruptions on bart red line service from richmond to millbrae was not running for part of the morning. bart says one line of service lost power and says the issue was resolved by 10 a.m. now on friday night, service was stopped between ashby west, oakland, rockridge and lake merritt because of an equipment problem on the track near the macarthur station. samtrans is warning of possible service disruptions tomorrow because of a labor protest. the union,

representing about 400 bus operators, utility and other workers, is threatening a work stoppage after rejecting a contract proposal from the district. samtrans is advising customers to seek alternative transportation options monday and possibly tuesday. transit system also says the labor action could potentially affect school bus lines. samtrans says it will prioritize school service and paratransit service will not be disrupted. hurricane joan brought heavy rain and damaging winds to hawaii's big island. we'll have the latest on the storm's path and a look at its impact as it leaves some airline passengers stuck. and a warm, clear, sunny sunday out there as we look live outside. beautiful day right now. it's going to get even warmer. your accuweather forecast is ahead and an extra innings drama at the little league world series. a championship at

than half an inch of rain was recorded the past couple of days by weather stations in the burn zone northeast of chico. the fire is now 78% contained. more than 429,000 acres have been scorched. the fourth largest fire in california history. investigators say the fire was started by a man who pushed a burning car down an embankment. he pleaded not guilty to the charges last thursday. an unusually cold weather system this weekend brought a dusting of rare august snow along the sierra nevada peaks. the national weather service estimates that around three inches of snow fell around the area friday night into saturday. many resorts reported dusting. the last time it snowed in august on the sierra nevada crest was back in 2003. now that frosty weather system brought rain to lower elevations near tahoe. the wet roads led to several crashes on i-80 yesterday. a stretch of westbound lanes was closed for a

time. chp truckee posted this picture today saying roads are wet and slick over donner summit. mammoth mountain also got a dusting this weekend. the national weather service had to warn campers to be prepared for winter conditions yesterday. that almost looks like more than a dusting. as quick as it came, the snow is already gone today with temps back in the 50s. happening now. hurricane fiona is swirling past hawaii, dumping up to a foot of rain in some spots. flooding closed roads and overflowed bridges on the big island. 85 mile per hour winds knocked out power to about 15,000 people. local officials say there are no reports of injuries at this point. hawaii's department of transportation says all round trip flights between honolulu and hilo were canceled yesterday because of the storm. >> the captain had announced that right now, the winds have picked up and so it's higher than anticipated. so it's unsafe for us to fly at the moment. >> the one positive forecasters

say all the rain canceled out fire danger from strong winds on the drier side of the islands. joined right now by meteorologist frances dinglasan. certainly concerned about the situation there. as we look at our situation, which is pretty nice here. >> i know it's all come when we just see what we have. it's so grateful for beautiful weather. and here's why. we have high pressure. and you can see it here with the satellite radar image that's helping to push all the clouds away. it's bringing us above average warmth, and this will hold for the next few days. blue skies from the east bay looking out towards the bay bridge and san francisco, where it's currently 71 degrees. oakland 78, san jose 81, redwood city 83. and half moon bay 68 degrees. and then this time we're looking from the east bay hills. so our warmest inland areas still hanging on to the 80s. santa rosa currently 83, fairfield 87. concord 84.

livermore 81 degrees. tomorrow is going to warm up even a bit more compared to 24 hours ago. you notice we're anywhere from 2 to 12 degrees warmer compared to yesterday, so the trend will continue except the marine layer will taper things off along the bay and at the coastline. so tonight we'll see the marine layer bring in the clouds, low clouds overnight to tomorrow morning. but it will be sunny. and then mainly warmer around the bay and inland areas. but at the beaches temperatures hold steady and they're already on the warm side and then tuesday and wednesday will still see warm to hot conditions, especially for inland neighborhoods. so tomorrow morning temperatures will drop into the mid 50s to low 60s. san jose 61, san francisco with some fog developing overnight 56 degrees cooler in santa rosa. that's where we'll see some of the chillier locations in the low 50s. 52 for you there. and then tomorrow, look for highs to hit the upper 90s in fairfield

and antioch at 97 san francisco once again in the mid 70s. so really comfortable. the sea breeze will also keep things cool in half moon bay. 69, san mateo 8382. rather. but look at san jose already getting up to 91 degrees, and then we'll jump ahead to tuesday where it will warm up for inland areas to 98 degrees in fairfield and antioch, 99 in ukiah, possibly even triple digits in ukiah on wednesday. but you'll notice other areas start to drop a little bit on wednesday. those will be the two hottest days, though, tuesday. and then wednesday and then thursday. cooling for everybody. but still in the 90s for inland areas. here's a look at the temperature trend. for example, in livermore our average high is 88. so we are going to be about ten degrees above average on tuesday. and then we slowly drop by the end of the workweek to closer to average numbers. and then cooler even for the weekend. here's the accuweather seven day forecast. so it's going to be gorgeous beach

weather for the next few days. warm to hot, sizzling inland on tuesday. still hot on wednesday. we could have some moderate air quality by then and also some moderate heat risk in the inland neighborhoods. but then the heat eases and more seasonable by friday and then cooler. partly cloudy into next weekend. >> the giants blew a big league friday in seattle and lost, then squeaked out a win saturday today trying to take the series from the mariners and stay on the fringes of the wild card chase. with just over a month to play, beautiful august summer day in the pacific northwest. love those snow caps. the giants jump on the alameda native brian wu early on in this one. elliott ramos first inning, two run shot yeah, his 20th of the year. home run. that is the youngest giants outfielder with 20 since chili davis 40 years ago. giants starter robbie ray uh. it's not good. grabs his right hamstring after making this pitch in the
