at the exploratorium camera. we had a warm, sunny day yesterday. today is even hotter. we have clear skies up above. in fact, you look at current sky conditions across the region. clear skies everywhere. the only exception? it's a mix of stars and clouds and half moon bay. so when we're clear early on in the morning, you can bet it's going to be a warm day. temperatures. right now we're waking up to numbers in the upper 50s to the lower 60s. your ocean water temperature a few degrees warmer than yesterday at 59 degrees. let's look at the inland forecast first. even hotter than yesterday, upper 90s. would not be surprised if a few areas hit about 100 later on this afternoon with sunny skies now around the bay shoreline, it is bright today. it's also warm. look at some of these temperatures upper 80s to near 90 degrees around the bay shoreline. along the coast, though, we will have a mix of clouds and sunshine, but still it will feel mild out there with highs in the upper 60s. we'll take a close look at your daytime highs coming up in a few

minutes. reggie >> terrifying situation yesterday in the south bay. a driver was speeding through south san jose on the wrong side of the freeway. abc seven news reporter gloria rodriguez has more information on the deadly crash that followed. >> good morning. reggie. a 47 year old woman and 14 year old boy from san jose were killed in that crash. authorities say the wrong way driver was rushed to the hospital, and it's not clear if he's in custody. chp says a pickup then collided head on with the white tesla suv. authorities believe the truck was heading south in the northbound lanes for several miles. the driver is a 39 year old man with florida license plates. he suffered major injurio hospital. authorities are still investigating why he was going the wrong way. >> we could have a situation, a case where we have some level or type of impairment. as i said at this point, we can't say that's undetermined in in this specific case, whether impairment is playing a role in this

particular crash. >> chp diverted traffic from 85 to northbound 87 while they investigated the crash. the freeway reopened hours later, around 8:00 monday evening. the victims have not been named yet, and chp is asking anybody who saw what happened to call them. live in the studio gloria rodriguez, abc seven news. >> thank you. gloria. in the east bay police are looking for a driver who hit a child in a stroller and then took off. that child had to go to the hospital. thankfully, they are going to be okay. the crash happened in berkeley shortly after eight yesterday morning. it was near dover street and alcatraz avenue. as you can see here on this map, it's a couple of blocks south of the ashby bart station. police say someone was pushing the stroller when the crash happened. the driver took off going south on dover street. neighbors say they heard it all happen. >> i heard a crash. i heard a scream. i heard a baby cry. and i looked out and i saw the

company hopes to curb fake black market versions of the drug. they're also looking to make the drug more accessible for people willing to pay out of pocket. and not through insurance. some things to note about this version of the medication, though. you will still need a prescription from your doctor and you won't be able to get it covered by your insurance. plus, there is also the out of pocket cost of the drug, according to the company. a one month supply of that bound at a 2.5mg dose will cost $349, while a one month supply at a five milligram dose will cost about $549 online. normally, without coverage, the medication can cost more than $1,000 per month. however, this new version of direct to consumer bound will only be available in a vial and syringe, rather than the easier to use autoinjector pen. eli lilly says this version of bound will help with the increased demand for weight loss medications. and later this morning on gma, abc news anchor

in in san francisco and oakland or along the bay bridge. you are not alone. there were several scenes of chaos on the streets as people under bikes were racing through the city. the loud and dangerous driving is angering neighbors who say it's a symptom of a larger problem. >> it's just terror in a community and they have power because nobody's doing anything about it. >> abc seven news reporter j.r stone looks at what the city is trying to do about it, and how well it's working. >> san francisco's embarcadero was loud on sunday afternoon, some motorcycles and a lot of dirt bikes, which chp says are

illegal to ride on highways and city streets without certain modifications. >> they're going down the bike paths, they're all over the place. and i kept thinking, what if somebody stops, you know, or a bike stops or doesn't see him? >> and while that woman who asked that we not use her name saw these motorbikes in this area near the ferry building, the dirt bikes were in many areas. sunday, the western span of the bay bridge and the eastern span to even cruising through traffic when things got busy and doing wheelies when they weren't. those we spoke with are not happy about this. >> i think it's really dangerous. they run a lot of red lights and they are riding in the bike lanes, so i think it's really dangerous for pedestrians as well as just people driving and in their cars. i know some people have gotten hurt already so far from them, but the california highway patrol and the san francisco police department tell me they are investigating these cases and others. >> on july 26th, sfpd used a drone to keep an eye on two

riders who they then witnessed breaking into cars. they made an arrest and seized the vehicles sunday. hundreds of dirt bikes flooded some intersections in san francisco and did the same on the bay bridge. no arrests were made and no vehicles seized, although chp did pursue at least two riders but were unsuccessful in catching them. witnesses say the two riding these dirt bikes got off those bikes and got on someone else's dirt bike to get away. >> they'll keep doing it unless the car or the bike goes away, and they have consequences to follow. and it's not a culture, it's not cool. you know, being in a community is cool. i get why they want to ride bikes together, but coming into a city and specifically terrorizing because, you know, you can it should not be legal. you know that witness believes that city officials have made improvements to tackling crime in san francisco, but believes this issue is a black eye for the city. >> j.r stone, abc seven news.

living together. >> the firefighter is now on administrative leave while the incident is being investigated. the fire chief says there could be disciplinary action depending on the outcome of the probe. the president of the firefighters union issued a response to the investigation, saying in part, quote, we are deeply troubled by the remarks made in the video. the comments made are contrary to our mission to serve all members of our community. the union says it will fully cooperate with the investigation. >> cal fire has transformed an old coast guard airplane into the department's newest air tanker. this c-130 hercules has been refurbished and it's now the fastest the department's of the department's airborne fleet is capable of carrying 4000 gallons of fire retardant. cal fire will eventually have seven c-130 c-130s placed across the state for faster response. >> disappointed marathon runners are getting an apology and compensation for mistake made over the running route. in july,

nearly 4000 runners were in san francisco for the half marathon. many runners during the event noticed something was off. it turned out the calculated map was only 12.6 miles instead of the 13.1. it was supposed to be. the mistake left many runners deeply disappointed in the race, sfgate reports. organizers put out an apology and offered runners half off their 2025 half marathon. >> the stern grove festival association is suing the city of san francisco over that water main break. it happened back in 2021. the water main ruptured and it forced the association to cancel its final concert of the summer, featuring oakland's tower of power and rapper too short, according to the suit. the association is seeking nearly $336,000 in damages for the lost concert revenue and the repairs to the facility. a city attorney spokesperson says the city has not been served with the lawsuit. >> new developments on the dream

clear skies clear over the city right now. oakland, san jose, the only area right now that does have some sort of fog is half moon bay, and it is thick right now. visibility around half moon bay down to a quarter of a mile. temperatures right now pretty uniform low 50s to the low 60s. so we do have that morning chill in the air, but we warm up pretty fast over the next couple of hours. so looking at the inland forecast today, it is going to be a hot one. temperatures into the upper 90s. i think a few areas, let's say antioch, brentwood, even fairfield likely hitting about 100 later on today with a lot of sunshine coming our way. the uv index is an eight out of 11 that is very high. look at the bay. shoreline will be into the 80s if not low 90s. with that sunshine it will feel quite warm today. dress for summer along the coast. it will be dramatically cooler. we have cloud cover right now. we will get a bit of afternoon sunshine out there, but it's a mix of sun and clouds, and daytime highs are basically in the mid and upper 60s. we'll have a light breeze picking up later on this

on the accusations and the reaction. >> heightened tensions in one of the most watched political campaigns, the race for the district 16 congressional seat between sam liccardo and evan low. now, this weekend and ravel, the former federal election commission chair, has filed an fec complaint against evan low, someone in the campaign of sam liccardo asked me if i would take a look at what had happened. the complaint alleges that low's campaign did not disclose that it used the nonprofit's email list and email server as an in-kind contribution. an example given in the complaint shows an email sent in february with a link that directed users to a page hosted by nonprofit stand with asian americans. though ravel is listed as an endorser on liccardo's website and acknowledged it, she said the complaint is not about that. >> my rationale for this has nothing to do with sam liccardo and my support of him, or any feeling particularly about evan

low. what i care about is democratic process. >> low's campaign sent a statement saying sam liccardo is once again deploying his supporters to make false accusations against our campaign and distract his own shady conduct. this is simply a case of a volunteer working in their personal capacity using the wrong hyperlink. the email list was purchased from the county registrar and reported by the campaign. liccardo's campaign issued a statement saying in part, quote, evan low will do anything to further his political career. the statement went on to bring up other allegations against low and say, quote, it's gotten so bad. barack obama's former fec chair is now calling him out. this all comes months after multiple candidates ran in the primary race for district 16. sam liccardo won first place by a wide margin. initially, evan low and joe simitian won second place in a tie until a recount request was made. that request was made by a former staffer. on liccardo's 2014 san jose mayoral

campaign. liccardo's team did not claim a current association with that staffer. two fec complaints were filed against liccardo in as for the complaint against low, ravel said she's leaving what happens next to the fec? >> they're the ones who will have to investigate this, not me. >> zach fuentes, abc seven news. >> it's the latest in a series of town hall meetings for citizens to express their concerns about violence. mayor shengtao and police chief floyd mitchell will once again take part in this evening's town hall is at fremont high school in fruitvale. there's another scheduled for thursday at allen temple baptist church in east oakland, and on friday, there'll be a town hall at the oakland asian cultural center in chinatown. a candidate for oakland city council is learning firsthand just how serious the city's unhoused problem is. take a look. >> listen back up. >> can we just get the orange bag, please? >> i asked for the bag, and somebody gave it to me.

>> shut up. >> that is council candidate charlene wang pleading with an unhoused woman who refused to give back her bag. she says the woman took the orange bag after a recent campaign rally. she's running for an at large seat on the city council. on the bag had about $1,000 worth of campaign donations inside. her staff first tried calling homeless outreach. they weren't available. they called oakland police and they say they never showed up. >> they said that there were 250 calls ahead of us. and, they said that they would actually come by to take a report afterwards. they still have not come by and it still hasn't happened yet. >> we reached out to oakland police to ask if they ever responded, and they never replied to us. part of the platform for wang's candidacy is focusing on increasing public safety by building more housing for the homeless. >> our country's national parks are receiving a record setting

gift. a $100 million donation is going to the nonprofit supporting the national park service, the organization's largest grant ever. the national park foundation says the money from the lilly endowment will be transformative for parks across the country. now, it's not clear yet exactly how the funding is going to be used, but the foundation says it's hoping to announce the first round of grants later this year. >> the circus is making a comeback to the bay area with the greatest show on earth. ringling brothers circus will be in oakland and san jose for the first time since 2017. the reimagined show has an all human cast. no more animals are involved in these performances. people can expect to see acrobatics, trapeze artists and bmx riders. there are six shows this weekend at the oakland arena and another six shows next weekend at sap center in san jose. >> still ahead, getting free groceries at school. we'll take you inside the first of its kind store in san francisco. >> but first, a check on the weather with meteorologist drew tuma.
