i think that when you -- especially when you play a character like that or -- >> rupaul: that's pennywise. >> that's pennywise, yeah. [ cheers and applause ] and, you know, before you take the makeup, put the makeup on, you feel like a complete crazy person. >> rupaul: you telling me? >> rupaul: no? >> it's usually -- the scarier and crazier it is, the better, it seems. >> rupaul: okay, all right. now, in this -- in the clip we just saw, you've got these tattoos. those aren't -- are they real tattoos? >> no. [ laughter ] >> rupaul: no. they've done so well with fake tattoos, it's crazy. >> yeah. >> rupaul: how long did it take for you to get all those tattoos on? >> an hour and a half. >> rupaul: that's not so bad. >> no, no. >> rupaul: and these are things like the kids -- years ago we used to have the things you put water on. is it like that? >> it is like that, yeah. but you know, i guess a little bit more permanent. but yeah. now we have this game. i always try to encourage the makeup team to get me out of the chair as quick as possible. >> rupaul: uh-huh? >> so one guy here, one guy here putting them on. then i would have them compete over each other. [ laughter ] >> rupaul: to see who could do

it the fastest? >> the fastest. and that's -- oh, competition. >> rupaul: yeah. >> it works. >> rupaul: now, you come from an acting dynasty. we all, you know, know your father's work and your brother's work. is there a competition amongst you all? for who gets more awards, who gets more money? >> yes, of course. [ laughter ] >> rupaul: yeah, there is. >> yeah. >> rupaul: do you see them often? >> yeah, all the time. >> rupaul: and do they live over here in america, or are they still in sweden? >> still or back in sweden. at the moment, i think we're all in stockholm for the first time in quite some time, which is great. >> rupaul: and so how often -- you have to come over here to audition? do you -- >> to meet you? [ laughter ] >> rupaul: to meet me, of course. to promote movies and stuff like that. but -- your brothers. and father. >> and father. >> rupaul: the competition. how does it manifest?

>> in all honesty, i don't think that there's a lot of competition, you know? we try to be a very supportive family. >> rupaul: you said that very swedish. [ laughter ] you had a swedish accent when you said that. >> i try to be very supportive. [ laughter ] yeah, no. yeah. no, but we do, we do. >> rupaul: yeah. >> i don't think -- i don't think -- like inner-family competition is necessarily very healthy. >> rupaul: well -- >> when we get drunk enough, that's when it all comes out. >> rupaul: yeah, yeah. now in a minute we're going to bring out your costar from "the crow," fka twigs. you know, a movie like this, it hinges on the chemistry between the two actors, and you all have chemistry. were you worried that maybe you wouldn't have chemistry? >> yeah. yeah. i don't think the movie would have worked at all. so -- so yeah, i was incredibly

[ cheers and applause ] ♪ [ cheers and applause ] hello! now, of course, we call you twigs. >> yes. >> rupaul: we call you twigs. now, i know you from -- you were a judge on "drag race." >> yes. >> rupaul: you were wonderful. i think what happened, i met you at a party and the next day, i said, "hey, can you come on?" the next day you were there. >> i did, yeah. >> rupaul: was it what you

expected it would be? >> it was colder in the studio. >> rupaul: i have to keep it very cold, because i've got things that are taped, pulled, snatched, cinched, painted, so nothing can move. you filmed in prague. was it cold when you did this? >> we did it in the summer so it was beautiful. >> rupaul: in the summer? >> beautiful and warm. >> rupaul: i've never been to prague before. >> it's stunning. it's a really amazing, gothic city. lots of beautiful architecture. an amazing underground of techno music and warehouses. >> rupaul: oh, so you did -- after work, you went out and partied? >> i did, yeah. >> rupaul: really? >> i did, yeah. >> rupaul: bill, did you party also? >> no. [ laughter ] >> i did invite you, but i never got you out. >> no, yeah, i was working out and eating a lot of steak. [ laughter ] >> rupaul: how were you able to party? you film during the day. how are you able to -- you're still very young, i guess. >> i'm young, and i guess like -- i'm just obsessed with alternative culture and subculture.

to be somewhere brand-new i've never been, that kind of amazing east block warehouse, raves, techno, kids, i couldn't resist. >> rupaul: somebody told me that inspired your new album. what's the name of the album coming out? >> "eusexua." >> rupaul: wait, what? >> "eusexua." >> rupaul: you know there's an ointment for that. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] no, yeah -- you turn into your father, eventually. and that's where i am, yeah, yeah. [ laughter ] so the music is inspired by the techno rave scene of prague? >> it is. >> rupaul: that sounds fascinating. sounds like my days in new york. [ laughter ]

so before you came out, we were talking with bill about the chemistry you guys have. i've seen you on screen together, and it looks really, really good. is it natural? or can you manufacture that kind of chemistry? >> um -- [ laughter ] i mean, i think we just got along really well, didn't we? >> yeah. >> just very natural, i can't explain it. that's also funny. i was saying before i was actually -- [ laughter ] >> is that funny? >> i was raised by swedes. randomly, my mom's friend's family helped raise me when i was young. so i had many a swedish christmas. so i think just culturally, i understood. >> yeah. >> what was going on. >> rupaul: you're saying bill is funny. bill's been very kind of coy with us. [ laughter ] >> for me and the shower. [ laughter ] [ applause ] >> rupaul: no, how many films

have you made? >> um -- i'm currently filming my fourth. so i've left my fourth one to come and do this amazing press tour, and i'm going back in a couple of days. >> rupaul: well, okay. so -- okay, so we know you as a singer, dancer, and now you're venturing off into film. what area do you enjoy the most? >> i just love expressing myself. you know, anything that -- any place in the arts where i feel i can do me and sort of change the cultural dna or make people question things or just find a guttural expression, i'm there. >> rupaul: i love it. you know, i saw a fashion show where you performed at the fashion show while the models are doing their thing. and cher was there. >> yes. >> rupaul: were you thinking the whole time, oh my gosh, cher is right there! >> there is -- actually really interesting, because i'm not easily fazed. i was the singer at the box, you know the box in london and new york.

in my early 20s i'd go on stage, queen latifah would be there, george clooney, all these huge stars. this is when i was baby twigs. it takes a lot to faze me. i have to say, when i saw cher, i sang a bum note. >> rupaul: wait. you sang a bum note? >> i saw her, the note came out, and it was wrong. >> rupaul: but you know, it's just interesting how life throws you these curveballs. what was the most difficult part of doing "the crow"? >> um -- >> rupaul: did you guys -- did you guys slip each other the tongue? [ laughter ] bill? >> that's for the shower. [ laughter ] this is code word now for everything. most difficult -- you didn't like being underwater. >> i didn't like being underwater. for me personally, i really don't like being underwater. for me, personally, i think it

was -- it wasn't difficult, but it's a stamina thing. you know, for me when i do music video or music projects, it's for a few days. you know, i'll shoot a music video for three days. films are months. >> rupaul: how long did this one take? >> bill did three months, i think i did two. >> something like that, 3 1/2, yeah. >> i did just over two. every day, we're shooting nights, so the hours are bananas. you're sometimes up at 4:00 a.m., going to set. it's just the stamina. but there's something really amazing about being an asset to the collective in the sense that you have to be in a good mood. you have to be there. you have to be present. it's not really about you or how you're feeling, it's about -- like submitting to the cause. >> rupaul: yeah. >> it's an amazing thing to learn for me, because being a musician, you do a show, it's two hours, you leave it all on the stage. you know, and then you leave. but this is every day. >> rupaul: well, the movie looks great. thanks, bill.

[ cheers and applause ] ♪ [ cheers and applause ] >> rupaul: oh, my gosh. you are gorgeous. now listen, i want to start here. because they gave me this picture of you running. and mama, you are in full drag. [ laughter ] in this picture, you have got nails. you've got some foundation on. you've got your hair did.

now, how can you run so glamorously? >> let me tell you, ru, a big part of track and field, anyone who watches track, if you've ever done track and you are a sprinter, a big part of our culture is how you look and how you style yourself for the race. if you look good, you feel good, you run good. >> rupaul: amen. [ cheers and applause ] yes, yes. >> so that is -- it's a big part of our racecraft. you do all of it. you do the mental check, the physical check, make sure you look good. >> rupaul: did flo-jo change the game? is she responsible for that? >> absolutely. florence griffith joyner. she is a legend. [ cheers and applause ] and i really do think that she changed the game. she empowered us, she inspired us. we watch her run, and she puts on a show. and people want to see her compete because she has the nails, she has the hair done. her uniforms were fabulous. >> rupaul: she had the one-leg thing.

>> exactly, exactly. >> rupaul: yes. >> so i think we all kind of channel that energy when we're on the track. >> rupaul: i love that. and it just gets passed down? do people say, "girl, you're going to have to get your nails done"? [ laughter ] >> i love that you said that. i love that. because that is what american women -- that's what we do. i think when people see us come to the track, they know we're going to bring that. there are other countries who do it well, too, but i think the usa women, we really bring it. [ cheers and applause ] >> rupaul: yeah. so -- with no shade, but who are the top three and who are the bottom three countries? [ laughter ] okay, okay. america's number one. america, number one! [ cheers and applause ] who's next? >> i'm going to give it to jamaica. >> rupaul: okay, all right. >> give to it jamaica. and the british women. >> rupaul: and the british women, okay, all right. >> in a different way, a very classy, makeup is very nice,

[ laughter ] what did you -- how did you get them out of the -- paris and all that? >> so -- these medals do not leave my sight. these are my babies. so i don't put them in my suitcase that i check. i carry them on with me. and they are almost always stopped at the tsa check. >> rupaul: yeah, of course. >> it's almost kind of fun,

because it's a little moment, you get to flex a little bit. "what are these?" "oh, just my gold medals." [ laughter ] >> rupaul: now, okay, so i know you have a silver and a bronze. have you forgotten all about them? [ laughter ] >> yeah, you know, i could have brought them, too, now that you mention it. >> rupaul: they're in a drawer somewhere now? >> they are, they are. [ laughter ] the forgotten stepchild, yes. >> rupaul: okay. so, now, where are you from? >> originally from atlanta. >> rupaul: from atlanta! [ cheers ] i lived in atlanta. and where do you live now? >> i live in austin, texas. [ cheers and applause ] >> rupaul: why austin? >> i moved there right after graduating in 2019 to train. they have a really great sprint training group there with my coach, tonja buford-bailey, also a three-time olympian. the group is just incredible. >> rupaul: hold up. you're still training? does that mean you're going to be in l.a. in 2028? >> that's the plan. [ cheers and applause ] [ rim shot ]

>> rupaul: girl. girl. oh, my goodness. wow. and i see your mama over there. hey, mama. [ cheers and applause ] oh, my god. i can't imagine what it's like for a parent to take so much time, so much devotion. what do you want to say to your mother for all -- and it paid off. >> well, mom, i want to thank you so much for forcing me to do track and field. [ laughter ] so, thank you. you knew what you were doing. >> rupaul: because you had a choice? why did you choose -- why did you choose track and field? >> so, i originally chose softball. i wanted to do it with my friends. track and field was not my first love, soccer was. all my friends were doing softball, so i signed up. my mom had another idea. you know about black households. you don't get to talk back. she had made that decision for me. she said, track and field.

she signed me up. i showed up to present that first day, and i never looked back. >> you're welcome, baby girl. [ cheers and applause ] always listen to your mother. >> rupaul: oh, my gosh, oh, my gosh. so, what advice would you have for up-and-coming athletes who really want to emulate your success? >> i would say that it's really important to put yourself in uncomfortable situations. to push yourself and challenge yourself and put yourself in environments where people are better than you. and you might have self-doubt, you might have moments where your confidence feels shaky, but that means that you're doing something right. so you keep working, you keep pushing, and the sky's the limit. [ cheers and applause ] >> rupaul: i love that. i love that. that's beautiful. yeah. wow. 2028. so obviously you're going to be training until 2028. but what else are you doing? what do you have your eye on? acting or sportscasting or what else interests you? >> right now, i'm really

interested in health care. before i became a professional track athlete, i was studying neurobiology at harvard, and i wanted to go to medical school. [ cheers and applause ] >> rupaul: wait a minute, you were studying neurobiology at harvard? >> i was, yes. and then track and field kind of had other plans for me. so when i moved to austin, i got my master's in public health at the university of texas. and now i work at a volunteer health care clinic in austin, texas. [ cheers and applause ] >> rupaul: you have a master's degree? [ cheers and applause ] a master's degree. it's amazing. i -- i -- the world's got to look out for you, because you are something special. >> thank you. >> rupaul: thank you, gabby, for everything.
