school. he was the one killed in a deadly pileup on highway 12 in santa rosa. the crash involved 11 vehicles and shut down westbound lanes by fulton road for almost four hours. the man killed 78 year old pat la fortune, was a former track coach and history teacher at cardinal newman. that's according to an alumni facebook page. several other people were taken to the hospital. the chp says a big dump truck did not stop in traffic in time and caused a chain reaction pileup. >> pretty bad collision. we just remind everyone to slow down and be aware of your surroundings, and always pay attention to the roadway. >> we're told the big rig driver is cooperating with the investigation. >> we move now to your voice, your vote, where we saw plenty of people gathering at manny's cafe in the mission district for what was a key moment in this re-energised race for the white house. cnn had the first sit down interview with democratic presidential candidate kamala harris and her running mate, minnesota governor tim walz.

from last week is one example they gave from a car break-in, along the embarcadero. the drone followed the suspects through the city. officers disabled the vehicle and say they arrested three armed suspects. the stolen luggage was returned. >> well, the state of fast food is shifting, especially in california. it seems like every day we report on a new opening or closing. most recently shake shack, closing its oakland location, forcing a number of people to wonder if it's the state's new fast food minimum wage law. turns out the store was underperforming, but it got us a bit curious about the effects of these higher wages. abc seven news reporter tara campbell set out to find out if the worker pay raise is actually paying off. >> now, nearly half a year into a minimum wage hike for fast food workers, the latest job numbers from the state are proving paying more may pay off. >> judging on the employment figures, we have so far, the minimum wage increase has been a success story.

>> california's fast food workers minimum wage increase went into effect in april, bumping up pay from $15.50 an hour to $20 an hour at most. chain locations. >> opponents to the law were predicting that it would result. it would have a huge negative impact on the fast food industry, and we heard some of those concerns last year when the governor signed the bill into law. >> some estimates suggest that we could have up to 50,000 jobs lost. >> but recent state and federal employment data shows california has added 11,000 new fast food jobs since upping the minimum wage. and according to the governor's office, there's been more job creation nearly each month compared to last year. but the experts warn those numbers may not tell the whole story. >> this is the tends to be the time of europe where most jobs are added. you know, the time from april may through the end of the summer, so it's not a unexpected that jobs would be added. >> we are happy to hear from

at a nudist community. officers in san bernardino county are investigating it as a criminal matter. daniel and stephanie menard, both in their 70s, were reported missing sunday. investigators say they received tips of about a dispute with a neighbor, and today officers raided the house next door and an armored vehicle tore down part of it. no one was found inside, and neighbors now say they fear the worst. >> it's very concerning because this is just not normal for them at all that they're going to come back. my gut feeling is that they're not. >> officers did not explain why they used armored vehicles on the neighbor's home, saying only that they were not sure if the man they were looking for was inside. >> the future of artificial intelligence, at least in california, might lie in the hands of governor newsom. >> tonight, a bill made it out
