a tech titan is headed to israel. more hostages released by hamas militants. dangerous and deadly waves crashing along the coast. we have new details on the two people swept out to sea.

>> thank you for joining us on this national addition. we begin with a tragic update for a story we told you about last night. the coast guard has suspended their search for the grandfather swept out to sea with his five-year-old granddaughter. it happened yesterday afternoon. the girl was pulled from the water and taken to the hospital where we learned she has died. their names have not yet been released. a high surf advisory in effect until tomorrow morning. anyone headed to the coast, be on the lookout for sneaker waves. we saw some of that flooding in parts of the north bay today. here's a look at a popular bike path. as you can see, they slowed down and plowed right through

the water. others on foot, they got turned around. it has since reopened. and this is a look at the flooding on greenwood drive. high tide was around 9:30 a.m. this morning. not ideal for cyclists trying to enjoy the gorgeous weather today. >> we are watching some pleasant days of sunshine but cold temperatures again at night looking out to the bay bridge. 53 in san francisco. kind of a different story already down to 41 degrees and we've already dropped into the 30s around fairfield and santa rosa. we do have another round of frost advisories for the north bay and a freeze warning and could see the upper 20s to low

30s. we have interbay and coastal flood advisory tomorrow morning. the high tides this time of year go over 6 1/2 feet. we are getting close to the official tides of the season. coastal and interbay flooding still a possibility tomorrow. the dry weather is about to leave as rain chances return as early as tuesday. we will give you the timing on that coming up in a few minutes.>> will the return home from the things giving holiday is underway. this is the busiest day to travel back home.>> is a little heavy in some places calming down. they are expected to increase

officials say bodies may still be buried under the rubble. as a part of that cease-fire, hostages and prisoners were freed today. among those was a four-year-old american girl. alyssa is following the latest developments in the east and has reactions from people in the bay area.>> family and friends came together to rejoice in the news that they will soon be reunited with the four-year-old. she was taken on october seventh after they killed her parents. she was among the 17 hostages released sunday. the first american hostage to be released.>> the grandparents and beget but they are very excited that she is finally home and are waiting to see her. the joy in the house can't be described. see micah 17 hostages released by hamas were taken to it is

of one of the uncovered hamas tunnels. palestinian prisoners released today were met with cheers and the crowd celebrated the release of 39 children. not clear how many hostages and prisoners will be released as part of the temporary truce. israel has offered to extend if more hostages are released. as a father of three, abigail's story hits very close to home. he has met with abigail's family and is very happy she is coming back to the family members she has left. he does not want to see anymore children hurt in this conflict and outlined what he thinks needs to happen in the coming weeks and months. >> every hostage needs to return to their family. first, the has to be the priority, including americans

coming home. hamas has to be defeated and can no longer rule over gaza. israel has a supreme responsibility to protect against the life. oakland city leaders are holding a special session to vote on special resolution for a permanent cease-fire. it doesn't includes pacific's or assign blame to either side that how many children have been killed in the conflict calling it a failure of humanity that must end today. elon musk is on his way to israel. he is set to meet tomorrow along with family members of hostages taken by hamas. this comes after civil rights

are going to have to do that here. we need to get darted yesterday.>> it was just three months ago when the california public utilities commission gave the green light for the cruise to expand and start collecting fares as they shuttle passengers across the system. last month, they've sold all their driverless vehicles off the road. a total of 400 cars all after the dmv determined it poses an unreasonable risk to public safety. cruise created a new position and is hiring a consulting firm for safety operations and culture adding the most important thing for us right now is to rebuild public trust. part of it involves taking a hard look inward even if it means doing things that are uncomfortable or difficult.

if they believe the driverless vehicles are safer than human drivers, why shouldn't its cars have to face the same kind of ramifications human drivers have to face if they break the lock?>> the reality is autonomous vehicles are being held to the highest and. any issue that we see, we are going to prioritize addressing it. >> if driverless cars can still make mistakes, what makes you so convinced they are still safe enough to be on the road?>> there have been examples went it out where they have a continued need to improve. when we make an improvement, it gets better. the technology is only getting better from here. and it's already really good. >> some question if it's enough
