charges, including three felony counts this is separate from the gun-related charges he was indicted on in september brie jackson joins us from d.c what is hunter biden accused of in this new indictment >> reporter: as you mention, these new charges are related to hunter biden's taxes the indictment was filed by special counsel david weiss and accuses biden of failing to pay at least $1.4 million if taxes over four years. the indictment says the defendant, quote, spent money on drug, escorts and girlfriends, everything but his taxes prosecutors also allege that biden misled his accountants into filing returns that included items that were incorrectly labeled as business expenses if convicted, the maximum penalty would be 17 years in prison the white house declined to comment on these charges hunter biden's lawyer said in a statement, if hunter's last name was anything other than biden,
