5:05 am
no major problems being reported here or at sfo this morning, though, after flights were delayed, seven of them at sfo, not nearly as bad as here on christmas day. 11 cancellations they had, yesterday morning mainly, and 36 delays due to that fog in chicago. southwest said they expect all flights to be on schedule today, though, as that fog lifts. meanwhile, you remember just weeks ago, southwest settled with the department of transportation over last year's flight problems that stranded millions over the holidays. the airline agreed to pay $140 million in that settlement, part of that a $35 million fine. the next big rush airports are expecting is friday through monday on new year's day when they expect 2.5 million passengers a day to go through u.s. airports. not expecting the delays they had last year, but of course

apple's new year will begin with the launch of the pro headset. a top analyst with a good track record, says the company will begin shipping the vision pro in the first week of january. that means it will likely hit stores in late january or early february, with about 500,000 units shipped all of next year. apple has repeatedly said the release will happen early in 2024, with no actual date. the analyst is also expecting a new mac event in the fourth quarter of next year after the iphone 16 debuts. guys. it may be late for the vision pro, but i'm sure lots of people want to get their hands on it. >> absolutely. i can't spend any more money on apple products. i need to stop for a while. >> i may not stop. >> silvana, thank you so much. hope you had a merry christmas. if you did not buy a powerball ticket last night, congratulations, because good luck for you, no one won the lottery last night. there was no big winner last

degrees. 41 in palo alto. 48 as you step out the door in san francisco. we've been monitoring for the possibility of some dense fog, but as of now it looks like the high clouds that we're seeing overhead is keeping the fog from developing farther below. so we are going to have at least clear visibility for now as you're heading to work, and then we head for temperatures in the upper 50s for much of the north bay today. you can see that as we go into the afternoon, a lot of upper 50s, but then we start to see those rain icons on the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. we are getting ready for some more wet weather. it does hold off until tomorrow morning, but then that will keep our temperatures down, with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s, and then some mid-60s, getting milder on thursday. here is what's coming our way. widespread rain, starting out light and continuing off and on into thursday. and then on friday there will be some heavier rain coming in. that's also going to add up on those rainfall totals, and then starts the sierra snow, coming

down with colder temperatures that will continue off and on through next week. so it looks like over the next several days we have a lot of rain coming in for parts of the north bay. it could be about 3 to 4 inches of rain, while much of the rest of the bay area sees about an inch or two, just depending on where you are. for the sierra, looking ahead, after the new year, we could get some decent amounts of snow coming down, possibly a couple feet of snow for upper elevations. that's really great to see. but looking at our seven-day forecast, we are going to have some great weather for kwanzaa, kicking that off, and then the off and on rain will continue in the forecast through saturday, we welcome in the new year with a day of dry weather, but may be watching rain and snow beyond that. then looking at our san francisco forecast, temperatures in the upper 50s, low 60s, not much of a change temperature-wise. burt starting tomorrow early in the morning, you'll need to start to break out that umbrella. we'll be watching out for that.
