right now on access hollywood, super bowl swift would be the 13th time taylor showed up to support travis. but can he be there for taylor's big grammy night? then, posh and becks, pete and kate, here come the super commercials, and new secrets from we are the world, why prince missed a michael moment, plus, our alicia keys surprise that she did not
1:01 am
see coming and hollywood icon joan collins' untold princess diana story, and happy 70th birthday, oprah. no one is living their best life better. from universal studios hollywood, access hollywood starts right now. [music playing] will travis be with taylor on grammys sunday? welcome to the weekend edition of access hollywood. i'm zuri hall. and we have got a lot of ground to cover. so let's go ahead with travis and taylor's back-to-back grammy and super bowl weekends. mario lopez has the story. shout out to the newest members of the chiefs kingdom, taylor swift, who has officially reached the super bowl in her rookie year. that's got to be a record. shout out to tay. thanks for joining the team. mario: taylor's welcome to the chiefs kingdom sealed with a kiss. and that's just one of the moments that went viral following last weekend's game. another was the pointing photo of taylor and chiefs coach andy reid, showing each other some love.
1:02 am
travis explained their connection on his new heights podcast with brother jason. obviously, we've already talked about how they kind of know each other from the philly days. scott swift-- shout out to big scott. him and andy are good friends. there you go. that was a cool moment to see afterwards. i didn't get to see it because i on the stage, screaming, fight for your right. but yeah, that was a cool one. that's awesome. yeah, we had the whole family down on the field. we had me, mom, dad, and taylor. everybody was down there. mario: taylor's been a solid support, attending 12 games since the pair began dating this summer. the super bowl will be her lucky number 13. reporter: taylor, right here. mario: but travis will not be taylor's one of the grammys this sunday, and for good reason. the team has a strict super bowl schedule, their plane landing in vegas grammy weekend. it should be a big grammy night for taylor. she's nominated for six awards, including the coveted top three categories, album of the year for midnights and record and song of the year for anti-hero. [taylor swift, "anti-hero"] it's me, hi, i'm the problem,
1:03 am
it's me on the pat mcafee show, travis addressed his attendance at the grammys. i wish i could go support taylor at the grammys and watch her win every single award that that she's nominated for. but i think i got practice on sunday. or i think sunday is a travel-- is it saturday or sunday? i know i got practice saturday. but sunday is a travel day. unfortunately, i got to get ready for this big old super bowl that we got in a week. oh, well, maybe next year. all right, let's get into some rasta vibes because we got a bob marley biopic headed our way. and it stars kingsley ben-adir, who completely transforms into, of course, the reggae legend in bob marley, one love. and when i sat down with him, he told me all about the process of becoming marley, down to the very date his journey began. when did you start that process of diving into the world of bob. and just how all-consuming did it? march the 12, 2021. i remember the day. wait. why? what happened?
1:04 am
because i finished secret invasion. and my guitar arrived. and i went, that's the end of that. boom. and i was messaging ziggy. and i remember, it was the 12th because i was constantly checking how much time i had. it was like a number of things that i was going in, like i don't sing. and i don't play the guitar. i got the jamaican patois to start learning. and there was a lot, so i remember the day. [bob marley, "could you be loved"] don't let them fool ya zuri: between learning to sing and play guitar, kingsley had a team of language specialists with him on set to help him accurately speak in bob's jamaican patois dialect. you can't separate the music and the message. bob picked up phrases from america. he traveled, so bob says things that even jamaicans don't say. so we had to keep working on it because we wanted to just make sure that we were representing how bob spoke to the fullest. let's beach off. anyone who wants to beach him off has to beach me off first. zuri: kingsley's preparation started long before stepping foot on set in jamaica. he was researching while shooting barbie, where he appeared as one of the ken dolls. we heard about the bob station on set
1:05 am
when you were filming barbie. are you just at the mojo dojo casa house. just behind it, yeah, yeah. just see where the little doors are, where the little cowboy doors are. there was a little space there that just never got used. so i started using it. yeah, yeah. (singing) now every little thing going to be all right. you like that one? yeah. zuri: ziggy wanting you for this, saying, you are the man to play my father, what did that mean? yeah. when i sat there and looked ziggy in the eye, and he said, i want you to do it, then something switched on, which was, well, now, i have to make sure i honor this for you guys and for the family and for bob. he does bob. and can i just say lashana as rita marley, it's giving oscar nomination. the biopic one love is in theaters february 14. and for some incredible true tales from the world of hip hop, there's a new peacock series, kings from queens, the run-d.m.c story, and so much great music, like 1986's it it's tricky from the influential trio of rev
1:06 am
run, darryl d.m.c. mcdaniels, and jam master jay. and surviving members rev and darryl celebrated at the big new york premiere. it's so exciting. we've been working on it for so long. and coming right after the 50th year of hip hop, it kind of all fell in place. i think it was like serendipity. [run-d.m.c, "king of rock"] now, we're the baddest of the bad, the coolest of the cool i'm dmc, i rock and roll i'm dj run, i rock and rule mario: and it was serendipity that brought joseph simmons, a.k.a. rev run, and darryl mcdaniels, a.k.a. d.m.c together decades ago when they were just kids in hollis, queens. i didn't know him. he was just the other kid in the other class at st. pascal baylon elementary school, who came over to my house to play basketball one day because david mceachern, he dunked and broke the one little rim that was in the schoolyard for all the catholic school kids. so now, after school, kids would come to my backyard. one day, run came alone, saw that i had turntables and a mixer.
1:07 am
and the rest is history. i learned how to dj in d.m.c's basement. everybody in the neighborhood started getting two turntables and a mixer. mario: the new docuseries explores the group's rapid ascent into stardom-- we exploded out of nowhere. it was so big, it overtook us. mario: --as well as their influence on culture that shattered racial barriers. they brought more people to the genre. this isn't a documentary about run-d.m.c. it's a documentary about all of us who know what this hip hop culture is really about. (singing) run-d.m.c i cannot wait to see that. the three-part series, kings from queens, the run-d.m.c story is streaming now on peacock. it was a huge week for lionel richie. lionel is part of the fascinating new documentary, the greatest night in pop, about the creation of the iconic we are the world. but he also has big personal news. his daughter, sofia, just announced her pregnancy. kit hoover tells us all about it. my baby is having a baby. [screaming] kit: sofia and husband eliot's gender
1:08 am
reveal that they are expecting a girl was a surprise for pop-pop lionel. you know these two, they keep a secret from me, but they tell the rest of the world. you know how that works? kit: lionel was all smiles, as he reunited with sheila e and huey lewis. it was on one single night 39 years ago, when these three were part of music history, recording we are the world to aid famine relief in africa. one, two. [usa for africa, "we are the world"] we are the world, we are the children kit: the new netflix documentary, the greatest night in pop, lays out how lionel and michael jackson helped organize an all-star lineup like no other. so everybody was just coming on board, and we had no song. that was the heart attack. kit: so mere days before recording with producer quincy jones, lionel and michael went to work at michael's home, which was like working in a literal zoo. that's ridiculous. i mean, between the snake and the dog and the chimp and the-- it was one zoo in itself.
1:09 am
and then we're trying to write lyrics. are you kidding me? a lot of them showed up having no idea what the song sounded like. kit: springsteen, wonder, tina, dylan, diana, rodgers, a who's who of american music in 1985. hopefully, i could have gotten michael and prince to stand together. but at the time, that was just-- that was a hail mary, if you will. (singing) when you're down and out and there seems no hope at all kit: the idea was for prince to sing a line after michael. prince's protege, sheila e, was there. and the hope was she would bring in the elusive prince. he really wanted to be there. he did. but he's just-- he's too shy to be in front of, or surrounded by, a lot of people that he really admired. kit: but as seen in the doc, sheila begins suspecting something was up. i just started feeling like-- i feel like i'm being used to be here because they want prince to show up. and the longer they keep me, maybe prince will show up.
1:10 am
it was definitely something that was hurtful. we were using her-- i said, sheila, can you get him? now, was she going to sing solos? no, but definitely get him. i had my fingers crossed, hoping she could pull it off, but it didn't happen. (singing) but if you just believe, there's no way we can fall kit: what did happen, on the recommendation of kenny loggins, huey lewis got prince's line, no pressure. petrified, frankly. yeah, it was nervous time, in front of everybody. what a great story. the greatest night in pop is streaming now on netflix. next up, first time co-stars demi moore and molly ringwald on their vintage fashion infused capote versus the swans. but what's their other obsession? find out after the break. but first, this week on gma, demi gave a rare update on how her ex-husband, bruce willis, is doing amid his battle with frontal temporal dementia. i think given the givens, he's doing very well.
1:11 am
and what i'll share is what i say to my children, which, it's important to just meet them where they're at and not hold on to what isn't, but what is because there's great beauty and sweetness and loving and joy out of that. reporter: that's great to hear. thank you. reporter: our thoughts are with him and the whole family. thank you.
1:12 am
1:13 am
zuri: chloe sevigny, naomi watts, molly ringwald, demi moore, and calista flockhart stunned in black and white at the new york premiere of their new ryan murphy series, feud capote versus the swans. and you can expect to see a whole lot of midcentury style in the series. and demi and molly could not be happier about that. i love the whole kind of fashion glamour part of it. kit: demi goes glam, playing actress ann woodward in the fx series based on the real life relationship between truman capote and new york city's most powerful and beautiful women he
1:14 am
named the swans. hello, ladies. mind if i sit down? oh, i wish you could, but we're being joined in just a second. demi: in playing ann, just somebody who spent her entire life trying to be accepted and yet always being on the outside, it was somewhat very heart-wrenching. hi, honey. oh, hi. i come bearing gifts. ooh, gracias. kit: molly plays joanne carson, the second wife of former tonight show host johnny carson. and while molly and demi were both part of the '80s brat pack, the two never acted together back then. they still any scenes in this series, but formed a strong relationship on set from day one. molly: we were on set together and, you know, we both have little dogs. so we-- demi and molly: --bonded over our little dogs. molly: [laughs] kit: playing characters set in the '60s, demi and molly also bonded over their love of vintage clothing.
1:15 am
molly: demi and i-- love it. --have the vintage clothes obsession in common. it wasn't only a few parts you got. you got a few good dresses that i wanted, too. i would pick something out. oh, no, no. that's on hold for demi. - [laughs] [upbeat music] kit: and the series pays tribute to the legendary black and white ball truman capote hosted in 1966 with the help of designer zac posen, who created the costumes for the ladies. molly: the clothes on this-- demi: --were extraordinary. molly: extraordinary. yeah, and it was a lot of work. demi: the interesting thing was, zac was given the directive that it wasn't about it being exactly historically accurate. in fact-- molly: it was more feathers, more headpieces, more drama. oh, i have seen it. it is so good, y'all. i'm here for the drama. new episodes of feud-- capote versus the swans airs wednesday nights at 10:00 on fx. and stream the next day on hulu. ok. next up, an snl reunion. it's their super bowl commercial exclusive with kate and pete. but first, let's check in on this week's billboard hot 100.
1:16 am
and returning to the number one spot is jack harlow with "loving on me." (singing) i don't like no whips and chains. you can't tie me down, but you can whip your loving on me, baby, whip your loving on me, baby. i'm vanilla, baby. i'll choke you, but i ain't no killer, baby. she's 28, telling me i'm still a baby. i get love in detroit like skilla baby. and the thing about your boy is, i don't like no whips and--
1:17 am
1:18 am
1:19 am
pete davidson? uh-huh. he really is everywhere. i'm going to eat you guys. [upbeat music] zuri: [laughs] last year, pete davidson hilariously teamed up with brie larson and jon hamm for a super bowl hellmann's commercial. after all, mayo goes great with ham and brie. get it? i'm sorry. i won't do that again. well, this year, he's at it again, this time with his former snl co-star, kate mckinnon. and you do not have to wait till super bowl sunday to see it. we've got your first taste now. [upbeat music] aw, i miss kate. kate's the best. i mean, come on. [laughs] mario: the bond between the former snl co-stars lives on. but it turns out, kate's first impression of pete was before he joined the cast. i went to an open mic once, and i saw pete when he was 18 or 19. and i was like, whoa, this guy. and then he showed up on the show. and i was like, ah, i get it. i called it. pete: i remember just being starstruck the whole time, but kate was really, really, really nice to me.
1:20 am
not everybody was. but kate, from day one, was always very, very nice to me. mario: well, pete's in a super bowl ad that kate is thrilled to join the fun with her friend. it's just so exciting. and hellmann's have this great message about not wasting food, which is very important to me. and i'm so excited that pete's here, and it's just great. [cat meows] mario: but move over, kate and pete. the real star of the commercial is mayo cat, who plays an important part in the ad's plot. leftover chicken, scallions, cheese. what am i gonna make with this? mayo. mayo. hellmann's. you can talk? the cat goes viral, as they say, and has a real moment. reporter: is it serious? [camera shutter snaps] kate: ah. you lasted longer than most. mayo. mario: and ahead of the big game, we play a round of super bowl rapid fire with the two human stars. [upbeat music] mayonnaise? mayonnaise. mayonnaise. mayonnaise pizza. the answer's always mayonnaise, right? they're too cool for that.
1:21 am
they wouldn't do that. yeah. it's gonna be silent, a nice, private ceremony that we will all know every detail about. [upbeat music] i'm throwing up the wu-tang symbol, because i'm from staten island. making out with a stranger, i guess. yeah. [laughs] solid answers right there. now, to country superstar mickey guyton. we were with her as she got fitted for the american heart association's annual go red for women red dress collection concert event, where she performed and walked the runway. mickey showed us her three looks, her runway dress, her performance gown, and a power suit for the red carpet. hey, access hollywood. i'm mickey guyton, and you guys are going to get ready with me for the american heart association go red for women red dress collection concert. [upbeat music] i am, first of all, so honored to be doing this event with american heart association. my grandmother passed away a year ago today from a stroke.
1:22 am
so this is actually a very surreal moment. before she passed away, i would always have-- on wednesday, call my grandma, which the event is on a wednesday. oh, my god. i really do feel like she's here with me, and that's really, really cool. [country music] zuri: mickey stunned on the runway in a red monicher gown paired with red ruthie davis heels and nadri jewels. this look is giving vanity fair, rihanna, super bowl. i feel like it's giving dramatics. a little turn, a little twirl. some shoulder action so i can turn around and show the crowd. the bigger the fabric, the bigger the walk. this is my performance number, and this was custom made for me by the amazing designer rc caylan. i like the underwear. like, it's just still sexy, but it's still covered but not. i think light, fresh-- a smoky chocolate eye. easiness is what i want for the glam.
1:23 am
[upbeat music] zuri: on the red carpet, mickey rocked a red monochromatic suit designed by sergio hudson. sergio also designed mickey's sharp-shouldered royal blue dress for her national anthem performance at the 2022 super bowl. and mickey told us what she's most looking forward to at this year's big game. i am so excited to see usher. like, i need to hear the whole catalog. it's basically usher and taylor swift's super bowl. let's be honest. i am just so in love with this outfit. bye, access hollywood. [upbeat music] red is definitely her color. looking good, mickey. all right. next up, it is our big surprise for alicia keys. but first, despicable me 4, the first movie in the franchise in seven years, introduces us to gru, jr. but you are going to have to wait until that comes out in theaters july 3. however, we do have a sneak peek. i know you love your dada. go on. say it. dada. dada.
1:24 am
yes. of course he loves you. he just doesn't show it on his face or with his body language. right? gru, jr., come on. illumination. [doorbell rings] gru, i need a word with you. your family's lives are at stake. what? (singing) where do we go now? maxime le mal has escaped from prison. i'm coming for my revenge, gru. ah, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. we have to get to the safe house. - and it has a vending machine. - oh. [laughs] i love this place. coming through. oh, oh. oh, la, la. hey, hey, look out. [slaps] ow. [laughter] yeah.
1:25 am
so tell me what, what does open kitchen mean to you? absolutely. and when it's delicious food and they come in they see our food steaming on the lines. they see our chicken glistening our fajita sizzling. it's magic happening every time they come into our kitchen. this is real! i was looking for some of the best anti-aging ingredients. and the great news. they're in here. revitalift triple power moisturizer with pro-retinol, vitamin c, and hyaluronic acid. in just 1 week it visibly reduces wrinkles, firms, and brightens skin. revitalift triple power by l'oreal paris.
1:26 am
1:27 am
firms, and brightens skin. zuri: alicia keys has a grammy nomination for best immersive audio album from the release of her 2003 album, now titled the diary of alicia keys 20. she just celebrated its 20th anniversary in december with a one-night-only, sold out show at webster hall in new york. and you better believe that night is going in her diary. scott evans caught up with alicia for this access exclusive. (singing) some people say-- the release-- right? this immersive audio experience. what was happening in your life at that time that just put this stake in the ground that was like, this is something that people are going to listen to and love and respect forever? with diary, recently doing the show to commemorate it and to celebrate it, i sang the entire album, top to bottom, and i had never done that before. (singing) burning love.
1:28 am
so-- so it was like this new way to latch on on to these songs. and what i felt about them is, they were so genuine and truthful and reflective of whatever i was experiencing at the time. and i feel like that's the key to the timelessness, the ability to really feel it and know that it's real. scott: another timeless hit? alicia's collaboration with upcoming super bowl halftime performer, usher. the song, "my boo" turns 20 this year. (singing) when we were younger, you were mine. my boo. scott: 20 years old? wow. 2-0. isn't that crazy? double decades. that's cra-- all right. [laughs] i mean, jesus. i'm just saying-- [laughter] enough. enough. alicia: i love it so much. it's crazy. i just don't feel like that much time has even passed. scott: hmm-mm. so i feel really energized and really excited about everything that's happening. i'm going to leave you with this, and only because we are getting ready for the grammys. this moment--
1:29 am
ooh. --with you and blue ivy. [squeals]. look at her. oh, i re-- i mean-- i remember this so clearly. these are our dear friends and our family and everybody in this picture is-- we are very close and have true love for each other. so obviously, every time you see an angel spirit, you got to go down to their level and give them some good, good love. and so it was just like, how are you? how's everything feeling? i'm so happy to see you. and now they tell me that rumi, she sings all my songs. she's my little pumpkin pie. she is so adorable. come on. so it's really, really-- this is so beautiful. scott: i love it. that is high praise, indeed. well, this past monday was a big day for oprah. she turned 70. now, without question the woman is living her best life ever, so let's savor our favorite access oprah moments of this past decade. well, i have to tell you. i wasn't playing. yeah. i got limes.
1:30 am
[shouting] [laughs] ms. winfrey-- you got limes. oh, that's a good one. that's a good lime. and listen, in case you thought i was really joking-- you got limes. i got limes. kit: love that oprah energy, but here's a little backstory on those limes. at our wrinkle in time interview before the premiere, mindy kaling told scott she had so much fun drinking with oprah because most of oprah's friends don't drink. gayle doesn't drink. ava doesn't drink. stedman doesn't drink. i drink. [laughter] and i got limes, oprah. he's got limes. that's good, that's good. scott: hello, hello. - hi, scott. how you doing? scott: how are you? well, i've been to lots of sunday brunches in my life, but i will say that i am the queen of sunday brunch. scott: that, i know. kit: oprah delivered the ultimate brunch in 2017, with their super soul sunday gospel brunch at her montecito home. the guest list, a-list, julia, reese, alisha, ava, lin-manuel,
1:31 am
and on and on. i call my home promised land because i get to live the promise that dr. king had for all of us, for black people, for our nation. and i feel every day that i wake up that i am a part of that promise, that i am living the dream, really. kit: oprah is definitely living her best life and making the time to honor others. in 2022, joined sidney poitier's family to honor the legend who helped pave the way. his is one of the shoulders that i stand on, that so many other actors, entertainers stand on. had it not been for him, he is the bridge to now for all of us. i'll be the one going [ululates] i'll be the african ululation. that's what i'll be doing. kit: and yes, as she hit 70, oprah is as joyous as ever, sharing excitement over her film, the color purple, at the golden globes earlier this month as well as friend bradley cooper's maestro.
1:32 am
oprah, i love that you're excited to sit next to bradley cooper. you know, his nickname is coopsie poopsie. (dramatically) coopsie poopsie? i never knew that. to me, he's just beautiful bradley because i think he has done such a magnificent film. i mean, oprah is not wrong, ever. ok, how about another super bowl commercial exclusive? hold on tight because we are taking you on the set for white lotus star aubrey plaza's mountain dew super bowl spot. i'm having a blast. [dragon roars] i'm having a-- [dragon roars] i'm having a-- [dragon roars] seriously? you're a terrible scene partner. i have been abducted by aliens. i have beaten someone on an electronic gaming system. it's just things that i like to have a blast doing. [yelling] people think i don't like to have a blast, but they're about to find out that i do. mario: also adding to the fun in the new mountain dew ad, a cameo by aubrey's former parks and rec co-star, nick offerman.
1:33 am
aubrey: i just saw him briefly, and we just made eye contact in the hallway. it was very classic april-ron kind of situation. mario: aubrey's come a long way since playing april, including scoring an emmy nomination for her role in season two of the hit drama the white lotus. and she gets why people love the show so much. what is going on with you? there's a reason they invited us here. i think the writing is just so good on that show. talk about cliffhangers. they're all just like characters you love to hate. mario: well, she may not have won an emmy, but she did make headlines earlier this month for her loewe gown, which inspired tons of memes, including comparisons to the infamous breakup post-it from sex and the city. and since she's not afraid to take fashion risks, we look back on some of her best looks. this is a very classy, classy, classy look. black, i like the little thin straps, a little skin but still kind of elegant, sophisticated. oh, i remember this. i remember. zuri: the back. this was the plunge when i took the plunge.
1:34 am
i was debuting my blonde hair. that is stella mccartney, and i was her date to the met ball. and that's probably my favorite. she called-- what did she say, that i was audrey-- was it audrey slutburn? she called me audrey slutburn. she said that, not me. best to just move on. next up, not sure what to watch this weekend? we've got our top three picks to binge. but first, some sad news. it was revealed that jay leno has petitioned to be the conservator of his wife, mavis', estate, due to her diagnosis of dementia, which she has now dealt with for several years. our hearts go out to these two who, through the years, have shown us how strong their love is for each other. you have to like the person you're married to. that is first. i mean, we just get along very well. mario: the comedian and his wife initially met at the iconic comedy store in the '70s. they got married in 1980 and decided not to have kids. jay: she never wanted children, and that's fine with me.
1:35 am
i was fine, whatever she wanted. mario: back in 2014, leno told us the secret to their long-lasting marriage. we're complete opposites. it works. if you have to work at a relationship, then it's not working. i don't think we've ever really had a fight or anything. mario: court documents obtained by access state mavis has been progressively losing capacity and orientation to space and time for several years. back in 2022, jay was more concerned with his wife than himself, when he suffered from burns after his vintage car burst into flames. why did you decide to go home and stay home for that night? well, because my wife doesn't drive anymore. and i didn't want her stuck and not knowing what was going on. it just seemed like the right thing to do. and i think it was. so you loved your wife more than you worried about yourself. yeah, that's it.
1:36 am
1:37 am
1:38 am
very sorry to hear about your father. father-in-law, but thank you. well, that's a little better. your dad's still alive? yeah. oh, there you go. zuri: larry david is back in all his glory for curb your enthusiasm's 12th and final season. say it ain't so. you can catch that starting this very sunday, february 4, on hbo. and it is definitely at the top of my list. and we did y'all a favor and sorted through some binge-worthy shows to bring you our top three picks, beginning with the show that just became the number-one streaming unscripted series, the traitors. she's the traitor. why would i want to murder her boyfriend? the first show that you need to watch
1:39 am
is season two of the traitors. we got housewives, survivor, and big brother contestants, all trying to get $250,000. mario: access hollywood's digital producer, lauren herbert, says the big reason to watch the traitors is the twist that keeps everyone guessing. some of the contestants are called traitors that have the power to kill the other contestants, who are called faithfuls. and here's the catch. no one knows who the traitors are except themselves and the audience, so it's a game of who's who. cian: why do you want to find love? i have so much love to give. scott: tiktok's newest obsession is netflix's love on the spectrum, which follows the lives the autism spectrum as they search for love. lauren: if you're in the mood for some feel-good tv with way less drama, then i highly recommend watching love on the spectrum. the show is wholesome, honest, thought-provoking. and if you just need a feel-good show, this is the perfect one for you. to second chances at finding love.
1:40 am
i love you. lauren: looking for the ultimate show to cap off your weekend binge? well, fool me once is it. i promise you, you are not going to want to leave your couch. if you like the undoing with nicole kidman and hugh grant, then this show is right up your alley, and you won't be disappointed. i want answers. lauren: it's a roller coaster of twist and turns that will make you remind netflix that, yes, you are, in fact, still watching several hours later. oh, i have definitely been there before. and of course, this weekend is the 66th annual grammy awards, sunday on cbs and paramount+. and nominated for two grammys, including the coveted best new artist, is jelly roll, who, after 20 years of hustle, finally hit it big with need a favor. it's the single off his first-ever country album, whitsitt chapel. but his road wasn't easy. he even served jail time in the past, but those dark times continue to provide inspiration for his music.
1:41 am
what would you tell that young guy that was struggling, living in your car at one point? everything you'd already gave up on and you thought can't happen, it's finna happen times 10. [jelly roll, "save me"] somebody save me, me from myself. zuri: before he became a country music sensation, jelly roll was in and out of jail in his teens and early 20s for crimes including drug dealing, shoplifting, and aggravated robbery. jelly roll: this is jail. it sucks, every one i've ever been to. zuri: now 39, the tennessee native took cbs news sunday mornings to his former jail cell in nashville. there was a time in my life where i truly thought this was it. zuri: jelly roll, whose mother struggled with addiction, didn't think he would ever have a real career. i knew that i loved music, and i knew it was the only thing i had any skill set in, i thought. i can't believe i'm crying. i wrote hundreds of songs right here.
1:42 am
(singing) i wake up every day. i hit my knees and pray. my mind is-- zuri: when he wasn't in jail he would make mixtapes and admits that even dealing drugs was a means to his music. i'm just like, yo, here's a sack of weed. here's a gram of coke. here's a mixtape, you know what i'm saying? i rap, too. zuri: before he began singing country music, he launched a hip-hop career and, in 2010, released pop another pill. [jelly roll, "pop another pill"] i ain't got no single, no potential for the radio. zuri: but his popularity soared once country fans heard him sing. his soulful voice and poignant lyrics drew a mainstream audience. [jelly roll, "son of a sinner"] cause i'm only one drink away from the devil. zuri: jelly says the turning point of his career was when he married his best friend, podcaster bunny xo, seven years ago. bunny was by his side at his first red carpet, the country music awards, in 2022. i got to not only do my first red carpet. i got to bring one of the prettiest women to it. zuri: and recently, at the 2023 ceremony,

jelly roll took home three country music awards, including best new artist. one thing you said in your speech that i thought was so beautiful was, it doesn't matter where you are-- it matters where you're at. who you were is not who you are. whew, what a journey he has had. all right, let's turn our attention to a hollywood icon and actual royalty, dame joan collins. she's got a new book, behind the shoulder pads, tales i tell my friends. and she had some tales to tell mario and kit, including ones about her good friend, princess diana. what are your fondest memories of princess diana? the first time that i met her was at a charity event in palm beach. she was shortly married to prince charles, and there were a million photographers and people shouting, diana, diana, diana. and i went up to her and was introduced to her. and she said, oh, my god, this is so overwhelming. do you think this is going to happen a lot? and i said, yeah, i think you're going
1:44 am
to find it's going to happen a lot, ma'am, really a lot. she was just a lovely, genuine person who i really loved and respected for what she did. kit: in her new book joan, of course, also shares stories about her famed dynasty character, alexis carrington. how much influence, joan, did you have on alexis carrington? joan: i think i had a lot of influence on her clothes. i had a lot of influence in designing things, and i would say, i have a scene coming up. somebody is trying to come in and strangle me. no. no. i'm gonna kill you! no! joan: so i need to be comfortable. so why don't we make a dark green leather dress with dark green matching boots and a wrap over skirt so i can run while he's trying to get me. i don't want to be in a tight skirt. that kind of thing. kit: when strangled, you need to run. yes. yeah. kit: but joan reveals she was initially apprehensive about filming her infamous pond fight scene with linda
1:45 am
evans, who played krystal. i told linda very clearly at the beginning. i said, i don't do fights. you miserable [dramatic music] but when we did the falling in the pond scene, i did do that. and if you look at it in slow motion, you can see that's me going into the water. kit: oh, yeah. ok, now that is commitment. joan's book behind the shoulder pads, tales i tell my friends is out now. and next up, we've got a feisty feline. the stars of argylle on working with that scene-stealing cat. we'll be right back.

fferent, agent argylle. a little help? hold on. zuri: henry cavill and dua lipa squaring off in argylle with a little help from john cena. the spy thriller is getting a ton of buzz thanks to a great cast mixed with humor and action. as secret agent argylle, henry gets in on a lot of that action, as does co-star sam rockwell, who stars as aiden, another spy. and they told access guest correspondent emily orozco just what it took to bring those scenes to life. emily: ok, this is amazing. it's so many twists and turns. talk to me about the stunt work. both of you have done it before, but this was kind of next level. here we go. god, i love this book. next level. yeah.
1:49 am
henry's done probably more than me. it was definitely a learning curve. henry: it was fun. it was actually really fun watching sam work as well, and then trying to mimic some of his movements while thinking, ok, how can i-- how can i do that and still keep argylle separate from aiden. i like how you also were able to rock all these hairstyles. we got to talk about the flat top, though. henry: it's all about the iconic silhouette. i mean, with a flat top, it's supposed to be fun, and it's supposed to be out there. it's time for you to meet the real agent argylle. oh, my god. oh, my god. zuri: starring alongside sam and henry in the spy thriller is a star-studded cast, including bryce dallas howard, samuel l. jackson, bryan cranston, ariana debose, catherine o'hara, john cena, and dua lipa, who plays the villain in the movie and wasn't afraid to tackle the stunts. emily: you have a great scene in the beginning with dua lipa. she's in the gorgeous versace, and you grab her off the motorcycle in the trailer. talk to me about executing that. honestly, the person doing most of the work was dua.
1:50 am
she has to be on the bike. she has to get lifted off the bike. i just got to stand there at the right time and lift, which is-- that's my wheelhouse. zuri: but perhaps the biggest star of the movie is chip, who plays bryce dallas howard's cat alfie. emily: chip might be in the running for an oscar next year. damn him! i hate that cat. yeah! [cat meows] he's cool, isn't he? emily: yeah. yeah. do you think he remembered you? he did. bryan: how do you know? bryce: because i have a routine with him. bryan: what's your routine? bryce: i make sure that-- because he loves the cat carrier so much, and so you don't want to just take him out of it because that's kind of his happy place. so i put it on the ground, and then i go underneath his chin. and i talk him through what's going to happen. yeah, but you did that to me this morning, too. you gave me a little-- that cat is everything. argylle is in theaters now. all right, let's get to our deals of the day, shall we? style expert and gilt paid spokesperson adrianna acosta is here with today's gilt it list.
