right now at 5:00, strong winds and lingering wet weather still hitting the bay area. our microclimate weather alert continues. we're live ahead with a look at the storm damage, the power outages, the school closures,

and, of course, meteorologist kari hall is timing out the forecast for when the rain moves out. plus, touchdown in vegas. despite the wet weather, the niners made their way to sin city. the jam-packed week they're expected to have as we count down to the big game. this is "today in the bay." they don't look like they strain like we do. good morning, and thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia. >> i'm kris sanchez. marcus washington is off. your morning commute is coming up in a moment and it is likely going to be difficult. we're going to start with a look at that forecast. meteorologist kari hall, this was a whopper of a storm. >> it was. >> i don't know what else to say. >> it was, because of the wind, mainly. that was the main thing that brought down trees and that rain was coming in sideways. we are seeing some of the heavy rain with that atmospheric river

pushing across southern california. we're left with still a lot of energy in the atmosphere, and the chance that we could see some thunderstorms. we are still getting lightning strikes just to our south and off the coast, but we will have that chance as we go throughout today. take a look at the satellite radar, still a lot of rain being pulled in with this system, so we will continue with that chance of rain, at least into the next couple of hours. and then looking at the radar, our stormranger is showing the heaviest rain is now moving out of san francisco, with some lingering light showers, but down the peninsula, into san jose, extending up toward fremont, and that will be what we can expect over the next couple of hours. so here is what we're looking at. the high wind warning has been extended until 8:00 this morning, and then we also have flood watches that have been extended until 10:00 this morning, as we watch out for rain at times that may cause some street flooding, and also the potential of more downed trees. we'll be watching out for all of

that. mike, you're tracking an alert for the bay bridge. >> i am. we had trees and flooding reported all over the map, so be careful as you hit the road this morning. the bay bridge, things were jammed up a few minutes ago as you're coming into san francisco. this is not normally turned toward the incline. it's flowing smoothly now. in the last few minutes they've cleared an alert from the city. full recovery now on that last approach toward san francisco. the harrison street off-ramp there was a big rig that was blocking your fast lane. they took one person away from the scene with injuries, they got a big delivery truck out of the way. the big rig is cleared from the bay bridge. we have reports of street flooding. some major freeways are blocked and eye point those out coming up. the green speed sensors are indicating you're flowing smoothly. back to you. tens of thousands of people are still without power

throughout the bay area. if you look at your screen, you'll see where the outages where. the lighter colors are smaller ones, the darker colors are bigger ones. vast majority focused in santa clara county where 71,000 customers are still in the dark. marin county has an estimated 54,000 customers, sonoma county 43,000. as always, if your power is out, you can check for storm updates 24/7 by using our free nbc bay area app. and the roadways, power sources are not the only impact from the storm and the strong winds. bay area airports are also feeling it. "today in the bay"'s ginger conejero saab is live at sfo. we know hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled yesterday. monday is always such a big travel day. how are we looking? >> reporter: well, rainy days and mondays, laura and kris, it depends on your perspective this morning. we're not in the hundreds like yesterday, but of course it is still 5:00 in the morning. you see a couple of those

cancellations, several of them on the screens already. but sfo reporting a total of 39 flight delays and 27 total cancellations as of now. those numbers can expect to grow throughout the day. last night the airport said strong winds caused some flights to be delayed up to five hours, and really you could also see the impact of the winds not just in those numbers with the flight delays and cancellations, you could also see it on the roads. up in the north bay, a massive tree fell on this subaru, this happened in santa rosa. this is northbound near the todd road on-ramp in santa rosa. you can see it from different angles, the car got absolutely crushed. it took rescuers 30 minutes to free the man who was driving the car. he was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but he is expected to be okay. now, dozens of trees toppled in and around san francisco and on the peninsula as well.

this one in daly city also fell on a car. falling trees adding to the list of obstacles for drivers on the roads as the downpours and mighty winds also cause widespread outages across the bay area. at one point, nearly 400,000 pg&e customers were without power. as we mentioned, many neighborhoods still waiting for their power to get restored this morning. sonoma county has already announced school closures for today. you can see those schools or school districts on your screen. one school, sun ridge charter, does have power and plans to open this monday. now, we do have a full list of those closures on our website. you can check them out on our trending bar at nbcbayarea.com. kris and laura, we will keep a close eye on those numbers here and bring you the latest in the next hour. for now, back to you guys. >> we'll check back with you, ginger. you can keep track of what's going on with the weather with

las vegas? not just the sports world, but the commander in chief. president biden touching down yesterday. he's here to campaign. tomorrow is the nevada primary. this is a swing state, so he is here campaigning furiously because this is a crucial state for him and the president's re-election bid. president biden will leave later on today from nevada and head back to the white house. as for the football side of this, and, yep, the 49ers are here, they arrived on their yie united charter flight in the 6:00 p.m. hour last night. all the guys are here, george kittle, christian mccaffrey, brock purdy, the whole gang. the front office staff and friends and family will come later on this week, their own charter flight on friday. the chiefs are here. travis kelce probably celebrating his girlfriend's grammy win last night. these guys are pro. they're the defending champs and they've been to the super bowl now, this is their fourth trip to the super bowl in the last five seasons.

we are ready to go, 49ers and chiefs. we're here at the rio resort, which everyone knows. you've got all the big casinos behind me as well. and then 20 miles east is where the 49ers and the chiefs are staying, far away from all the night life at a place called lake las vegas. we will see them at opening night, they open it up to the fans and it's a glorified media session. that's going to do it for us. we'll send it back to you. >> he's going to be tired by the end of the week. we have a team of anchors, reporters and insiders all headed to vegas for the game and you can check out our full coverage at nbcbayarea.com. it's a lucky thing that game is not here. >> most definitely. turning back to our weather coverage, this morning evacuation orders are under way in santa barbara and the airport there remains closed as much of the area is still dealing with flooding. governor gavin newsom is declaring a state of emergency

for that county. you can see this video shows that water flowing from mission creek in the heart of the city, which at times was actually spilling onto bridges and nearby streets. quite the mess out there. even as you drive the streets this morning, there's so much debris everywhere. >> and it's interesting, because usually we talk to our friends in southern california and we have it or they have it. this time everybody had it. yeah, it started here and then rolled down the coast, and that's still the case this morning with all of the heavier rain. while we're still dealing with the center of that storm, that's where a lot of the energy is that produces the thunderstorms, so that's what we're watching out for now. you can see that long line, that connection of moisture from the atmospheric river funneling all of that heavy rain directly into southern california, and once again, we're still dealing with off and on rain here. let's talk about some of those wind gusts. the national weather service posted this map showing that at big pine mountain in socal, they

had a 93-mile-per-hour wind gust and widespread 50 to 60-mile-per-hour winds all across southern california. and then we also still have a high wind warning in effect for our bay area hills, as well as the coastline. 50 to 60-mile-per-hour winds and still that potential that we could get some downed trees. our winds were close to 100 miles per hour at the peak of this storm, mount umunhum, we had a 98-mile-per-hour, and mount diablo had 83 miles per hour. we're still watching out for thunderstorm chances for today. we'll get a closer look at the hour-by-hour forecast. mike has a look at where you can find lower gas prices. >> prices are down a bit starting this week. vallejo and concord, they both continue to lead with those areas, $3.59 in the north bay at

sacramento street in vallejo. same price in concord, calling out concord's valero on willow pass road today. finishing in silicon valley, we are looking at the cupertino car wash on north de anza boulevard. we call it out for the gas price of $3.83. you can skip the watch for now. the roadways, a smooth drive. the green and blue dominate. the blue, you're going to find a lot of standing water. the outer lanes will be flooded. they're reporting in many spots around the bay. in the north bay, we still have highway 12 and 121 affected from flooding from last week. >> we'll skip the wash today. can you imagine how long the line is going to be when it stops raining? >> my car has leaves struck to the side of it. >> it's nice to have a gray car sometimes. you can't see it. coming up next, a host of the 2026 world cup games is being revealed. ahead on "today in the bay," the big announcement made and the

good monday morning. we are still under a microclimate weather alert, and keep the umbrella handy. there will be breaks in the activity with some sunshine in concord. at 8:00 it will be in the low 50s. going into the afternoon, off and on rain and the possibility of thunderstorms. watching out for that and more impacts from this atmospheric river, more coming up in just a few minutes. look at that. we still have slick roadways as the commute gets started over here. richmond toward san rafael, across 580, a smooth flow of traffic approaching most bridges. but we will show you where there's a build at the bay bridge after an earlier incident cleared, the sigalert on the span. good morning and very soggy morning to you. a lot to be sunny about. america produced more oil last week than any time in history. the head of the fed is talking about interest rate cuts. more about that in a second.

boeing says it's discovered missed drilled holes in some 737s, but it's also doing more intensive safety checks on its planes, so bad news and good news. elon musk went on a tweet storm over the weekend, with more than 100 anti-immigrant posts or replies to posts, including repeating the so-called replacement theory, which is seen by the adl and southern poverty law center as the language of white supremacists. at one point musk clarified he was not anti-immigrant, he was anti-illegal immigrant, but went on to claim things that weren't true, saying every deportation was a lost vote for democrats. non-citizens cannot vote in federal elections. head of the fed jay powell was on "60 minutes" last night. it's extremely unusual for a fed chair to sit for an interview. the main thing everybody wants to know, when will the fed cut interest rates? powell said the prudent thing to do was to wait to make sure

inflation continued to fall toward the fed's 2% target, and so far, so good. powell and the open markets committee have steered the american economy into sustained recovery without new inflation, which everybody thought impossible. now, that interview was recorded the day before that blowout jobs report on friday, showing an unexpected 353,000 new jobs added to the american economy. i called up president biden's chairman of the council of economic advisers right after that number came out. >> that is a big number in terms of monthly job gains, typically around this time of expansion, you might see job gains that are half that large. in fact, the expectation was that we would have something under 200,000 jobs created in january. so the fact that we have this big upside surprise, 353,000, what that tells you is that the job market across this country is just very strong.

>> the u.s. unemployment rate has been well under 4% for two years now. that has not happened since the 1960s. now, as we have discussed many times, in silicon valley and the bay area it's very different, but that's not the economy, per se. that is the venture economy and the amount of money that went into hiring people that has since vanished, the investor money, and now there are just too many people in the system. >> they were courting people for a while, just hiring more people than they needed. >> we did an interview with a woman who got hired and she didn't know what her job was and she got paid six figures. >> best job ever. thanks, scott. exciting news for soccer fans, the 2026 world cup final is coming to new jersey. fifa announced on sunday that metlife stadium will be the venue for the 2026 world cup final. the tournament will be hosted by mexico, canada and the u.s. and bigger news for bay area soccer fans, many of those world cup games will be at levi's

stadium. we knew that san francisco was named one of the 16 host cities, but we are not getting details on the schedule. fifa confirms the stadium in santa clara will hold six of the 2026 world cup games, five of those games will be group stage matches. one will be a knockout round game. the dates for the games are between june 13th and july 1st in 2026. and trending this morning, women dominated last night's grammy awards, no doubt the afterglow of music's biggest night is settling in, especially for artists who took oem the first grammys. >> victoria monet won four categories, including best new artist. miley cyrus took home the first two grammys of her career, record of the year for "flowers," and latin pop star karol g.

taylor swift made grammy history by winning album of the year for "midnights," her fourth time winning that all-important category. she's the only artist to have won the category four times. frank sin at tra, stevie wonder, wall simon had previously won three times. swift announced she's going to release a new album called "the tortured poet's department." >> it's nice to talk about taylor swift in the context that she's famous. it felt like midnight all morning because our power was out in our neighborhood. so dark out there. there were so many people with power outages, downed trees. this was really a big impact storm. and it's still with us. it's not done just yet. even though that steady stream of that heavy rain has now shifted into southern california. what we're seeing right now this morning as you get ready to head out, thunderstorms, and you may even see the sky lighting up in

the distance, even if the rain is not directly over you. we can see off and on showers and we did have a lightning strike over san francisco. as of now we haven't had any recent lightning strikes and the heaviest rain moving through the tri-valley, some of the hills in the east bay, between dublin, pleasanton and livermore it is just pouring right now. and then there's more rain moving into san jose, with wide spread downpours happening in the south county. so this is what we're going to see today, off and on rain, and the possibility of thunderstorms. it looks like it's going to be right over san francisco, the peninsula, extending over toward oakland, between late morning, into the early afternoon. and then just gradually making its way across the bay area with some slow-moving rain, but that chance continues throughout today. even tomorrow there may be a couple of spotty showers, but the trend is a little dryer. so what we're expecting for today is about a quarter inch of rain or less, but where we do see the rain, it's going to come

down hard and fast and may even drop some hail with thunderstorms. and then looking at the middle of the week, another round of some rain coming in, but then we will have a chance to dry out as we head toward the weekend, with some light rain chances as we go toward thursday and friday. and then looking at the sierra and the additional snow we could see for the next several days, another 6 to possibly 17, 18 inches of snow coming to the sierra. now, we're going to have a very chilly week ahead and the best chances of rain will be over the next couple of days. mike, that commute is very sloppy. >> yeah, it's also dark. it's not because of an outage, i think it's just the adjustment on our camera in san jose. you can see the wet roadway, slick conditions. use caution. things are much calmer as far as the rain, but the green highlighting and even the blue puddling is still out there. definitely a factor for your drive, so lower those speeds for safety's sake. we have a build coming out of

cleanup under way as falling trees and high winds wreak havoc. a look at how the rest of the week is shaping up. the latest storm bringing much-needed snow to the bay area -- the sierra, i should say. we'll take a look at conditions there this morning. this is "today in the bay." thanks so much for joining us on this monday morning. i'm kris sanchez. marcus washington has the day off. >> and i'm laura garcia. let's start out with what everyone is talking about, a look at that forecast. meteorologist kari hall is now tracking what's in store. >> yeah, so we're still dealing with some waves of rain and the possibility of thunderstorms, after such a busy weekend with all of those high winds. the wind is gradually starting to relax, but we're watching another issue that may begin to pop up, some lightning strikes, some rumbles of thunder, and the possibility of small hail. a lot of the heavier rain has now shifted south of the golden gate bridge, and we're getting some pockets of really heavy downpours moving through parts

of contra costa county into the south bay, and we're going to see that gradually starting to taper off over the next couple of hours. but at any point today we could see some isolated thunderstorms, and the high wind warning has been extended, especially for the hills, up until about 8:00. the flood watch continues until 10:00, where we may see some flooding on some of the creeks, rivers and streams, as well as some street flooding as the rain continues. but overall we're looking a little bit dryer today, but you do want to keep that umbrella handy because the showers and potentially thunderstorms will continue into the evening. mike, you were telling me that chp was warning about wind at the bay bridge. >> right here, perpendicular to the flagpole, these are blowing hard. we see flags in the middle of the screen, all the way over to the right i found flashing lights in the last few seconds. i believe it's in the service lane, so it's a distraction. the build is going on. we should see metering lights any second on the oakland side. despite that, no major problems.

we see less highlighting with the green, you still see damp roadways out there. still, the conditions will change. the wind is a big issue, so watch for trees and branches, even in parking lots. over here, valley road did reopen overnight. walnut, i hear, may have power line issues going on. watch for traffic control in that portion of walnut creek. everything else, we're talking about wet roads and high winds. back to you. this morning, tens of thousands of people are waking up still without power across the bay area. just moments ago we got an update from pg&e and the vast majority of the outages at this hour are focused on the north bay and the south bay. that is where about 72,000 people are in the dark. on the peninsula it is more than 56,000 customers in the east bay, 29,000 households and businesses. in san francisco, we're talking less than 5,000. as always, if your power is out,

you can check for storm updates 24/7 on our free nbc bay area app. so the storm is forcing a lot of school closures this morning. i know my kids have no power at mr school, though they're still being encouraged to go. thousands of people still without power waiting for the lights to be turned back on. >> "today in the bay"'s bob redell joins us live from walnut creek this morning, where pg&e is on the scene of just one of these major spots with power outages. how is it looking out there, bob? >> reporter: good morning to you, laura and kris. we're along ygnacio valley road in walnut creek, where you can see the power line came down, it snapped at the top there. pg&e is off to the right, they've got a cherry picker and they've chained that power pole to the cherry picker so it doesn't fall down anymore. power is obviously out in this area. we assume that the workers are waiting for sunlight and/or equipment to make the repairs. you can see people are slowing down at this intersection out of

safety. this, unfortunately, is a familiar scene throughout the bay area after yesterday's storm that brought lots of wind that took down a number of trees. for instance, this is video from the south bay, a free fell onto the light rail tracks at 2nd and santa clara in san jose. some vta stations also lost power yesterday, not clear if those will be re-energized in time for this morning's commute. rain a major issue yesterday. the water rose so fast in the guadalupe river that two different groups of three people, along with their dogs, became stranded and had to be saved by a swift water rescue team with the san jose fire department. >> they were screaming, and unfortunately everybody -- we can't really help, because the storm is getting big, the water is getting huge. if you step inside, the current is really strong. >> reporter: again, everyone was rescued, along with their animals. the east side union high school

district in the south bay is closed, five high schools and two other locations due to power outages. at 6:00 this morning, so less than half an hour, we're expected to find out if the los gatos district will be holding classes. it depends on whether or not pg&e was able to restore power. reporting live, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> probably a lot of kids hoping for that. we'll see. thank you so much. for the latest information on the storm's impacts, including those school closures we're talking about, just head to nbcbayarea.com. we've got all the information you need. you'll find it on our trending bar. happening today in the south bay, nine suspects tied to what prosecutors called one of california's largest sex trafficking ring busts ever, are scheduled to return to court. authorities made the arrests last november, claiming nearly 20 women were rescued. investigators say the ring operate in low budget hotels between hayward and gilroy.

they also believe more suspects are still at large. six men and three women are due back in court for what the court is describing as a preliminary examination. to decision 2024 and today california election offices start sending out their vote by mail ballots for the march 5th primary. in san francisco, voters will be able to visit city hall to cast ballots. the voting center will be open each weekday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. it will also be open on two weekends between now and march 5th, including the weekend before election day. san francisco also has 500 polling locations available the day of the primary. now to a live look, here we go, we have voting centers open at city hall. okay, this is not open. at least it doesn't look open. this is interstate 80 near donors summit as the sierra gets a huge dose of snow we were expecting from the storm. and there we go, the traffic is

flowing. some five feet expected to fall when all is said and done. for drivers yesterday, the brunt of the storm had not arrived but strong winds were making for very challenging driving. once you managed to find your chains, get them on your car, you should be okay to go. if you could wait, that's better. >> we stopped in rockland and that was a little crazy because the lights were out everywhere. we had to find a store that had lights on, it was open. so we grabbed chains because i always check the weather because i'm a planner. >> anyone headed there is advised to plan ahead, like her. we turn to meteorologist kari hall. this has to be one of the sierra's strongest storms of the season, i would imagine. >> the wind was definitely an issue, causing all of that snow to blow around, giving lower visibility. but we've also had this as a colder storm coming in, and causing a lot more in the way of heavy snow that is still coming down. we're still seeing very low visibility. the winter storm warning

continues until 10:00 this morning, where we've had a lot of issues with downed trees and power impacts. that will continue. you do want to avoid travel there, at least for today, until we get bigger breaks in the activity. and then we're also going to continue to see that snow in the forecast for today. here is a look at the forecast over the next several days. we may get another 6 to possibly 18 inches of snow, and that's coming on top of a couple of feet that we've already measured there in the sierra. so we'll talk about how much additional rain we'll see here for today. mike, how is it looking for the south bay commute? >> it's looking all right. we're able to see more traffic flow, a little bit of slowing and wet roads. darker, but i don't think there's an outage necessarily. it may just be our camera setting right now. no major problems, but there are outages throughout the south bay. so watch those local signals. if they're off, of course treat it like a stop sign, even if it's flashing red, treat it like

the morning commute and we're watching out for the chance of thunderstorms. we'll still have lingering impacts from yesterday's storm. we'll have more on that in a few minutes. including trees down, some debris. watch for that as well. the bay bridge under the influence of the metering lights. also damp roadways and a wind advisory by chp. lots going on and we'll show you how things are shaping up for your commute. new problems for boeing and its 737 max jets. this one on the assembly line. according to the "wall street journal," a memo sent to staffers by the head of boeing's business say misdrilled holes were found in window frames of 50 undelivered planes. in this case, the flaw was found by boeing's fuselage supplier, a company called spirit aero systems. the problem does not affect max 9 jets currently in operation and the work is expected to be redone this week.

president joe biden is urging congress to pass a bill that would give him the authority to close the southern border. >> that is the same deal that would set aside money to ukraine and help israel as well, right, scott? >> right. but can it pass? here is the big question. it's going to be a tough road for this bill. republican leaders in the senate wrote big portions of the bill, but republican leaders in the house say not only are they opposed to it, they won't bring it to a vote. let's start with what's in the bill. it would give the american president the authority to close the door if an average of 5,000 asylum seekers per day cross, which that's pretty much every day. it would add $20 billion in border protection and make it harder for immigrants to ask for asylum. here is democratic senate leader chuck schumer. i'm wrong about that. the bill has billions for defense of ukraine and israel as

well. a reminder, this would involve u.s. defense contractors, the "washington post" estimates 90% of the money that we spend on ukraine actually stays within the united states. it's the weapons that go to ukraine. house leaders don't like the bill, quickly worked on their own bill that funded israel and nothing else. as for the senate bill, republican skeeve scalise said over the weekend on social media, let me be clear, the senate border bill will not receive a vote in the house. candidate for president nikki haley was on "saturday night live" over the weekend in what they call the cold open, a skit pretending to be a cnn political town hall. >> we have time for one more question and it's actually for ambassador haley. door. >> there was a tree down at an elementary school. >> yeah, one in our cul de sac, my husband and i were out there cutting it up. he was cutting it up, i was taking video. it's still dark outside as you're driving to work, and be careful because there's a lot of tree branches down, a lot of debris scattered all over the road. we had some very high wind gusts that are still with us, even early this morning in some spots. and now, even though the widespread heavy rain has tapered off, we're still getting waves of scattered showers morning in this morning, and we're going to have that chance as we go throughout today. the heaviest rain moving through the south bay, as we get a closer look at san jose. you're hearing the rain hitting the roof and it is pouring as you drive further south and into gilroy and morgan hill. if you're heading into the bay area, the south bay is going to be very sloppy. here is a look at our storm totals that we had over the

weekend, with most of us getting over an inch to possibly over two inches of rainfall, mill valley getting 2.3, half moon bay 2.4, and then the santa cruz mountains, ben lomond had over 4 inches of rainfall. inner valleys like livermore, it was about three-quarters of an inch of rain to an inch. the high wind warning continues for the coastal areas. all of these areas shaded in the darker orange, where we have had wind gusts over 100 miles per hour. that was in marin county. this also in marin county, we had wind at 99 miles per hour. very close to 100 across the coastal areas and in some of our upper elevations. going into the afternoon, we're seeing the rain activity tapering off, but we may possibly have some thunderstorms moving through, these isolated cells that will be lifting from the southwest to the northeast. we will have that chance of rain into this evening.

it does overall look like a dryer trend for us and we're not going to see as much in the way of gusty winds. and then going into the next couple of days, still some rain chances in the forecast. although we're not looking at any major storms coming in, and we will have a chance to dry out for the weekend, which, of course, at this point is much needed. we are going to see some lingering showers for today into tomorrow, and then again on wednesday a new system coming in that will be fairly weak. behind that, it's going to be cold, those temperatures dropping, and by the end of the week our mornings will start out in the upper 30s and highs only in the 50s. so it's not yet time to put away the winter coats. mike, you were saying the lanes are filling up at the bay bridge. >> i thought it was going to happen pretty dramatically, but it's tapered off. the volume continues to build, middle lanes, toward the outer lanes. damp roadways, as well as a wind advisory from chp, saying cars are getting pushed around on the bay bridge. there's the backup and build

just up the incline. over here, the same thing for the richmond-san rafael bridge, and also traffic control farther north in sonoma county, 12, 121, continue with difficulties because of flooding that started last week. contra costa county, typical slowing for highway 4 and the build coming through the area. we also have another crash, highway 4 to the west of 680 as you're coming through the area heading toward mccuen, we have a crash that may involve four or five vehicles. i haven't seen the update. slicker roadways around the bay. ignacio valley road is open, but bob is talking about power lines. things have calmed down after the rain traveled through sunol, recovering speeds out of pleasanton. it was a lot slower about a half hour ago. farther areas of the south bay, we're looking at a smooth drive, just starting to show the typical build. highway 9, no surprise.

we have washouts and flooding, and woodside over the weekend, another portion of highway 84 does have traffic control, again, because of slides and spilling. watch the areas, the san mateo bridge does have that wind advisory as well. the green means it's damp and wet. the blue means puddling and ponding. watch some of those areas, specifically where they just had rain in the diablo area. this is not the kind of news we want to hear, but car insurance rates are skyrocketing this year. a new report from bank rate shows the average for full coverage is $2,543 per year, which is more than 3% of the median household income. that is also up from just over $2,000 last year. rank rate says insurance companies are rethinking their risk models to account for the increase in car accidents following the pandemic, increase in weather-related claims, we hope you don't have one today, and the elevated cost of car repairs. the worst of the weekend
