what we've been through the last year, it hasn't been easy. for it to go like that, where it's close at the end, it's tough. i'm still trying to wrap my mind

around it. >> we all are. right now at 5:00, a tough loss. this morning players, fans, reeling after the niners devastating super bowl loss. we've got reaction from the team in las vegas and the fans right here in the bay area. plus, finally reopened. a busy south bay roadway reopening after being closed for weeks. a chilly start. a live look outside. a foggy start, depending where you are. this is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. we'll check that morning commute as well. meteorologist kari hall has got a closer look at today's forecast. this is "today in the bay." >> good monday morning to you all. i'm marcus washington. >> and i'm laura garcia. we begin with a swarm of earthquakes overnight in southern california. the shaking all centered in the same general location of el centro near the mexican border. the initial 4.8 quake struck at about 12:30 this morning.

>> hello from las vegas. it is monday, and we know the whole routine, monday morning quarterback. what did the niners do wrong, why didn't they win? we have months to answer those type of questions. let me tell you what the niners did last night. they left the stadium and all went to a party, not to celebrate a win, but to celebrate their families and the journey to get to this point. they were the second best team in the nfl. let's take you inside the stadium in the locker room right after the game. you could hear a pin drop. the niners were built to win the super bowl, but they didn't. christian mccaffrey sat at his locker staring ahead for about 20 minutes. outside the locker room, more tears and hugs. the owner, his son, really just consoling friends and family. it wasn't supposed to be this way. the niners had royalty in the house, joe montana was here and all the other a-list celebs, usher, getting rave reviews for the halftime show, and the list goes on of ps we saw at the

their game. the san francisco 49ers in my opinion didn't lose the super bowl as much as the kansas city chiefs just won it in the final moments because they had a little more experience. the niners fans in the stands at allegiant stadium maybe had an extra reason to be bummed since they shelled out hundreds, some of them thousands of dollars to watch the game in person. in the end, the 49er faithful are still faithful. >> we played a really great game, but, hey, you win some and you lose some. >> i'm still a niner fan to the end. we'll get them next year. >> the first fan was in vegas, the second watch where people held their breath, held their hats. they were all celebrating until the last few minutes. this is nbc bay area sky ranger over the scene about six miles away in the mission where a small crowd gathered as well. in the south bay, proof that a niners winning season is also

bit of fog drifting around. we've seen that low visibility. we're dry today and tomorrow, as our temperatures head for the mid-50s and mid-60s in some spots. then on wednesday the rain will be back, up to a half inch of rainfall, and then friday into the weekend there's going to be a bigger storm coming in with much more rain and gusty winds. looking at san jose and our temperature, right now it's starting out at 45 degrees. it is 42 in oakland. dublin, a chilly 37. and then going into the afternoon for morgan hill, a mix of sun and clouds. we go from low 40s here to some low 60s. so once again, a very pleasant afternoon. we'll see a high of 59 in martinez and 60 in oakland. upper 50s, low 60s for much of the north bay. and tomorrow it is about the same as we, once again, will have dry weather all the way up until wednesday, when we are headed towards a much wetter pattern. here is a look at the climate

prediction center outlook for this weekend into next week, and it shows the bay area highlighted for the potential of well above average rainfall. so here is a look at the change in the pattern we're going to see. the first system coming in on wednesday and then an atmospheric river from friday and then more storms following on saturday into sunday. so looking at our rainfall estimates and what we're expecting at this point, throughout the weekend we could see over the course of about four days the possibility of about 2 to possibly 3 inches of rainfall in some of our valleys, from the tri-valley to the south bay about an inch of rain. so it's going to get pretty soggy starting on valentine's day and then off and on rain into the weekend. friday at this point, maybe a brief break before we see the bigger storm coming in saturday into sunday. we'll be tracking this throughout the week. mike says as of right now it's a calm start to our monday.
