president biden arriving in the bay area in a matter of hours. his plans ahead of the looming california primary. and growing tensions with russia following the death of alexei navalny. this as news emerges of a detained american ballerina. we're live in washington with new overnight developments on two fronts. this is "today in the bay." good morning to you on this wednesday. i'm marcus washington. >> and i'm laura garcia. we will check the morning commute. cinthia is in for mike this morning. kari is brings us sunshine. [ laughter ] >> eventually. >> we're hoping. >> we do have much better weather in the forecast but we have to get through lingering showers today. that's a look at the live view in dublin this morning. we've seen some really dense fog in parts of the north bay, as well as the south county. so allow extra time to get to m. visibility reduced to a quarter mile or less in some spots.

after the fog clears, we're still watching out for a spot shower or two. as of now, we're seeing a steady stream of moisture coming in, and the chance of rain that will start to pick up around noon to 1:00 in parts of the north bay, as well as the east bay, we are, once again, going to have to deal with some rain off and on for today, but it looks much better for tomorrow. i'll be tracking that for you. cinthia, you're seeing a closure still ongoing in the east bay. >> we want to remind everybody that niles canyon will continue to be closed until at least friday. so this was because of that storm damage. you can continue if you're making your way from pleasanton, you can continue on 680 and then connect to mission boulevard there along 238, if that is your plans. now, this will be until at least friday, once again, and notice that there are shades of yellow on your screen. we are continuing to deal with heavy fog, as kari was pointing out, around dublin and the tri-valley.

parts of el cerrito into concord and parts of the north bay as well. there are for flooding issues. a disturbing moment during last night's walnut creek city council meeting is sparking outrage. a speaker launched into an anti-semitic rant against the only jewish member of the city council. "today in the bay"'s bob redell is joining us live from outside of city hall this morning. this isn't the first time something like this has happened. >> reporter: unfortunately, you're correct. good morning to you, marcus. you might recall last year there were anti-semitic rants directed against the walnut creek city council here at city hall, but those happened virtually, via zoom. so last october the city council turned off those virtual comments. what happened last night did happen in person in the council chambers at city hall, and we spoke exclusively with walnut creek city council member kevin wilk, the target of last night's verbal attack. the individual was wearing a

shirt with a swastika and anti-semitic language and proceeded to berate jewish people, and then ended his rant with a nazi salute. all of this taking place during the public comment portion of last night's meeting. wilk points out last night's speaker is not from walnut creek and his words do not represent the city, but wilk says it is his duty to speak out whenever hate speech takes place. >> this is completely over the top, not ordinary. we can't become numb to this. >> reporter: while freedom of speech may allow individuals to use hate speech at meetings, wilk says the council is discussing options such as turning off the camera when that kind of speech takes place. reporting live here outside walnut creek city hall, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> bob, thank you. we are just hours away from president joe biden's arrival in the bay area. we have a live look for you at sfo, where air force one is

expected to arrive a little after 3:00 this afternoon. the president is in the middle of a three-day campaign swing on the west coast, attending a fundraiser in los angeles last night. after landing in the bay area this afternoon, mr. biden is expected to attend two campaign events in san francisco. one is hosted by speaker emerita nancy pelosi. tomorrow he'll be in los altos hills for another fundraiser. tickets range from $6,600 to $100,000. the president will then head back to the white house. new developments this morning surrounding the prison death of russian opposition leader alexei navalny, as white house leaders react to news of the arrest in russia of an american ballerina. "today in the bay"'s alice barr joins us live, following the developments on both fronts. alice, his mother is taking legal action and wants to retrieve her son's body. >> reporter: it's worth remembering in those terms, we

are talking about the history of alexei navalny, who has been trying since saturday to bring her son's body home and has not been able to. there is a court hearing scheduled for march 4th to try to make that case. navalny's team says the mother has not been able to learn the location of her son's body following his death last week in a russian prison. still not known, navalny's exact cause of death. russian authorities are refusing to release his body for the next two weeks, citing an ongoing preliminary investigation. yesterday his mother appealed directly to russian president vladimir putin to release her son's remains. that comes after navalny's widow released a video earlier this week accusing putin of actually having her husband killed and then covering it up by not allowing the body to be returned. the kremlin is rejecting forcefully those allegations. >> in the meantime, the u.s. is now promising retaliation in the wake of his death. what are you learning about that? >> reporter: so president biden

announced that there will be a big new major package of sanctions, he's calling it, that he's going to release the details on coming up on friday. he said that before he left to head out to california. and national security adviser jake sullivan says the sanctions will cover a range of revenue sources for russia's economy and the russian war machine. national security council head john kirby says the sanctions are also in response to russia's continued aggression in ukraine. worth remembering the backdrop, the white house has been pressing house members, republican house members to give up basically their blocks that they've had in place of aid to go to ukraine to fight back against russian aggression and money that would help taiwan and israel. right now congress is out on a two-week break. >> before you go, we broke the news yesterday that a dual american russian citizen, a ballerina, is being retained in russia and we know she's from southern california.

>> that's right, she's been living in los angeles. the white house confirming this woman we're speaking about is karolina, a 33-year-old russian american ballerina. russia released this video yesterday apparently showing her being led into a courtroom, her face, you can see, is covered up. russian authorities say they're detaining her on suss sfigz of treason for raising money to support ukraine to fight back against russia. she returned to russia on january 2nd and the u.s. learned of her arrest on february 8th. the white house has been seeking consular access to check how she's doing, try to get her home, but the state department says that's challenged by the fact that russia doesn't recognize dual citizenship. they're working on it. >> they only see her as a russian and i think the check she gave was $50 or something like that, to ukrainian efforts. interesting. so much to follow. alice, thank you very much, live from washington. well, new at 6:00, a new chapter for antioch troubled

police department. city leaders have just appointed a new interim police chief. brian addington is no stranger to east bay law enforcement. he's previously served as pittsburg police chief and retired in 2022. his selection comes as antioch leaders have authorized a new police commission in the wake of the text messaging scandal. his first day in office is on monday. and today a florida man accused of stealing a small plane, you may remember this, flying over the peninsula until it crashed on the beach in half moon bay, he's due in court. the incident played out two weeks ago. investigators say he stole the plane in palo alto and then ran from the scene after he crash landed it. he's already entered a not guilty play in charges involving felony aircraft theft. a live look at san francisco, which was hit hard by the storms over the past few days. the downpour in the early afternoon yesterday caused some flooding in spots.

here is one area that was affected in hayes valley. at the italian restaurant, rushing water came through the sandbags and into the dining area. the crew, which saw the same thing happen last year, knew what to do. >> we just, like, started with mops and brooms and started shoving it out. very stressful. >> over at flood-prone 17th and folsom streets, water barriers were up and city crews brought out suction equipment. on franklin street water rushed down the hill into the path of a bus route. we reached out to the city's public works department for comment, but didn't hear back. they were probably pretty busy. let's check in with meteorologist kari hall. finally getting a break from the rain and flooding as well. >> hopefully that holds up today. i wanted to loop this back 18 hours to show you what happened yesterday, even though now things have calmed down.

this is what it looked like as the storm system came through, and it was such heavy rain that it was hard and fast and really caused all of that flooding. then when you put that on top of the 6 inches that we've had so far this month, that's the reason why it had a really hard time draining. just yesterday we had 1 1/2 inches of rainfall. we've had over 10 to 14 inches of rain in the santa cruz mountains just this month, and in san anselmo we had over 12 inches of rainfall. so we've had some really high rainfall totals and it's nice to get these breaks. we'll talk about a longer break coming up. cinthia has been tracking where you can find lower gas prices. >> i found these gas prices just under $4 this morning, kari, thanks to the drivers that report them on gasbuddy.com. let's start in the east bay with $3.65 in concord, if you find yourself at costco this week on monument boulevard. we're going to follow that with $3.69 in san lorenzo at the central gas on washington avenue

companies. the index is removing walgreens, putting amazon in its place. sign of the. south bay's roku fell hard as investors absorbed the news i told you yesterday, that walmart was getting into the smart tv manufacturing business with its purchase of vizio. and big day for silicon valley, nvidia reports profits today. the stock sank tuesday as investors thought surely this company's long string of wins can't continue, it cannot keep surprising us, right? the santa clara chip company is now the third most valuable company in the united states, bigger than google, bigger than amazon. its stock is up fivefold in less than two years, revenue up $210% this year alone. the fbi, along with law enforcement agencies from france and the uk and nine other countries have seized software data and a website belonging to a russian-linked gang of hackers

called lockbit. lockbit has been holding u.s. companies' data for ransom and now the good guys are holding onto lockbit's website and data. they're providing a countdown to the release of some of the hackers' personal information and data, just like a hacker would. at least four people have already been arrested. the biden administration will announce more relief for student loans today. you have to be enrolled in the department of education's save program and borrowed less than $12,000. if you made ten years of payments, you're off the hook for the rest of it. but you still have to check in your bag at american airlines. the airlines is upping its checked bag fee to $35 for the first bag. >> this definitely can impact not only just the average consumer wallet, but it really hits home for families that are traveling with multiple bags. >> they'll talk more about that on the "today" show. i get it. it's hard to afford things these

just playing it on country stations, but playing it on hip-hop and r&b stations. >> there we go. so let's get started this morning. we need a little something to get us going, and it's going to be much nicer over the next few days. so i think that will really help us out, because we've had so much rainfall. we can see the fog settling over san francisco after all of that moisture continues to just sit on the ground. but now we're seeing that condensing into fog, as we get low visibility coming through the tri-valley, visibility only at about a quarter of a mile. it's at zero in novato right now, so be very careful driving to work this morning. allow some extra time to get there as well. after the fog clears out, we're going to still have a chance of spotty rain today. so it's not completely done, but there will be much more sunshine and dryer conditions tomorrow, as our temperatures warm up. as you make plans for the weekend, saturday is your day to get outside. it looks perfect.

we'll get sunshine, temperatures up to 70 degrees, but then rain chances come back on sunday. as of right now, we're still seeing heavy rain moving through southern california and we're still seeing showers very close to northern california. we're going to see that moving mainly into the north bay before noon today, and off and on showers there. but we're also going to be watching really anywhere across the bay where there could be a pop-up shower later on this afternoon, and then tomorrow we have a chance to dry out. we've been watching this storm system that's going to be sinking to the south and away from the bay area, and this is saturday afternoon. absolutely nice, clear, warmer temperatures. but then we start to see that rain approaching the central coast and moving closer to the bay area from sunday into monday, and we'll start out next week with not only rain, but cooler temperatures. so big changes ahead. look at the warm-up that we have coming from low 60s for today to 70 on saturday, and then once

this is also wednesday morning. 6:30 right now. thanks for starting your day with us. i'm laura garcia. >> i'm marcus washington. time to get a look at what you can expect from the forecast. meteorologist kari hall is tracking that. driving into work today, it's foggy out there. >> i can still see the fog in the san jose picture behind you. we're seeing it moving around parts of the bay area, settling into the valleys and we're not completely dry just yet as we take a look at the big picture. there's still a lot of green across california and we're seeing more clouds off the coast that will be reaching closer to the bay area today. at noon we're still watching for rain chances in the north bay, spotty showers moving through. just keep that umbrella handy. and then as we go into this evening, rain tapers off, and after that we are dry going into the next few days. it will be nice to get this break. we'll talk about the weekend in just a few minutes. >> thanks so much. well, several east bay teacher unions are moving closer to holding strike votes. more than 20 local chapters, the

union chapters, are organizing protests today to draw attention to their demands, which they say will also help students. >> "today in the bay"'s kris sanchez is in the newsroom. what kind of protests are they talking about? >> reporter: they are just that, protests. this is not a strike at this point. in the east bay you might run into your kids' teachers off campus as they are picketing around different places in the community, from grocery stores to sportsplexes and offices. this is from when dublin teachers held an informational picket in january, after a strike authorization vote. their union, dublin teachers association, is joining forces with 20 other teachers' unions to push for better contracts. dublin and pleasanton teachers are both closest to a strike. but educators and supporters from the other unions are joining them in their action. the teachers want better pay that keeps up in inflation, better working conditions for themselves and better learning conditions for their students,

things like smaller class sizes. in a prior statement, the dublin unified superintendent sent us a statement reading in part, since the 2018-19 school year, we have increased salaries by more than 19% for dta unit members. we have also dramatically increased our contributions to cover our employees' medical costs. now, the 21 california teachers association chapters are united under the umbrella of east bay coalition for student success. they will start picketing at 3:30 this afternoon. you may see them at your local education offices, but they're also going to dublin sports ground, a sports complex, also a safeway store, a bevmo store and several traffic intersections. things are getting serious for pittsburg and dublin teachers who say they are getting ready to walk off the job. they are in fact-finding, the next step closer to strike. in january, the dublin teachers association claimed that the district violated state law in

allegedly retaliating against a union leader as well. >> a lot to follow there. thank you, kris. now to decision 2024, and the race to fill dianne feinstein's u.s. senate seat. the top four candidates last night wrapped up their final debate before the march 5th primary. democrats adam schiff, katie porter and east bay congresswoman barbara lee took the stage in southern california, along with republican steve garvey. schiff is leading in the latest polls, a new one published in the hill gives schiff 28% of the support, with garvey coming in second with 22%. porter and lee are trailing far behind. remember, the top two candidates with the most votes, no matter the party, advance to the november general election. let's bring nbc bay area's political analyst, larry gersten in, he's breaking this all down for us as well. so the debate was civil, but there were some heated exchanges as well between representative

schiff and porter, and steve garvey also trying to address his lack of experience. >> trying to. let's listen to this. i think we can learn a lot. >> look, i'm different than representative schiff. he's taken corporate pac checks from bp, from socal gas, and these are household names. they are polluters. so people can count on me to do washington differently and deliver the climate change that we have been waiting for for so long. >> i don't think representative porter has been fully clear about her own record of taking thousands of dollars from people in the oil industry, thousands of wall street bankers, thousands from people in pharma industry, as open secrets has revealed. the problem with purity tests is invariably the people establishing them don't meet them. californians want someone that can get things done. >> i build championship teams, i bring people together. >> a short comment there from

steve garvey. >> there were two clashes. that was one of them. well done. the other had to do with who really gets things done. porter had a list of things, and schiff came back and said you talk about wanting them. i'm the one who actually does them. i authored a bill on this, this and this. that was the other good clash. so we can see there's a certain desperation right now on katie porter's behalf, if you remember the poll. she is behind garvey right now. the top two, regardless of political party, go on to november. so a lot of things going on here as far as katie porter is concerned. >> and this was their one last push with the debate here. any surprises in this debate that you saw that may perhaps stand out to voters? >> it's a surprise, it's not pleasant. steve garvey continues to be a person just with very, very little knowledge, certainly an inability to state what he knows. he talks in very general terms and it's as if none of this has penetrated. let's understand, all of these other people have great

experiences in congress, and so it's asking a lot of him. but, clearly, he's not playing up to his weight, put it that way. >> after seeing the debate, who do you think came out on top, and do you think that polls may shift at all after last night? >> first of all, it's hard to know who comes out on top. these things are experienced by people differently. i think the bigger question, what might change? well, remember, they've got 19% who say they don't know what they're doing. we've already started voting. 19%, one out of five, are still on the fence. so there's a lot of movement that can take place. and the other thing, going back to the poll, it's plus or minus about 4%. so there are swings. when you look at schiff at 28% and go all the way down to porter at 18%, a lot can happen in between. so i would say watch porter, watch garvey, those are the two you really want to see in terms of who emerges for the november

runoff. >> the top two, no matter the party. we'll see where we'll be in two weeks. thank you so much for joining us. well, the recent success of a new hov toll lane on the peninsula is accelerating expansion plans. so the lanes opened last spring on highway 101 between redwood city and san mateo. san mateo daily journal was reporting that the added revenues have come in at a higher level than expected, and now the talks have moved forward about expanding the hov lanes farther toward san francisco. an environmental impact review is under way, but so far there's no timetable. and we are continuing coverage of the niles canyon road closure. it is expected to stay closed until at least friday. the road stretches between fremont and sunol on highway 84. crews have been working on those repairs after the collapse on monday morning. that's when a huge chunk of that road slid into a nearby creek. caltrans says that it happened after the ground underneath gave way during the recent storms.

crews will assess the highway on friday and decide whether it is safe to reopen. now to a live look at i-80 at donner summit. a lot of fresh snow in the sierra. popular week to head to tahoe since a lot of schools are on break. the kids have got ski week. but it hasn't been easy to get there and hopefully you'll have time to come back as well. chain controls are in effect for highway 80 but not for 50. the snow lab sharing this picture showing the snow falling there. kari was telling us it's a good thing we were able to get that shot because they didn't have power for a little while. >> they've been tweeting that they've had ongoing issues with power outages over the past few days. i haven't gotten a lot of current snowfall totals recently from some of the resorts, but take a look at palisades. as of right now it's at 27 degrees and it is just so beautiful. the trees are weighted down by

all of the snow, as we wake up and head out this morning. i want to compare what we had on january 1st of this year to currently, and the sierra snowpack was at 28% of normal before all of these storms got going. and more recently, we are now at 85% of our normal amount across the sierra, with the northern sierra almost at where we should be. so we've made a lot of progress here. it is, as you saw in the video, still very slick there and the winter weather advisory continues until 10:00 this morning. but we're still seeing a lot of that snow coming down as of now. so be very careful. cinthia, you're already looking out to some of the weekend events. >> it doesn't hurt. everybody loves the weekend. well, this one we're going to start earlier, though. chase center tomorrow afternoon at 7:00, we have the lakers in town to take on the warriors. you're going to find yourself with just a little bit of traffic around the chase center and coming off of 280 and 101 into the city. i do also want to talk and stay

welcome back. 6:43 this morning. the fbi says a key witness critical of president joe biden and his son hunter met with russians. >> the fbi already accused the witness of lying and now they're linking him to russian intelligence. >> yeah, good morning. you're talking about alexander smirnov who had been peddling a story about joe biden, hunter biden and a company called burisma. the fbi says smirnov lied about those business dealings and lying to the fbi is the crime. this does not get the president's son out of his legal trouble over taxes or a firearm form he filled out. those are still charges against

him that have nothing to do with the accusations over business dealings with his dad. business dealings, it turns out, that never happened. smirnov met with what the indictment calls officials associated with russian intelligence, who passed some of the fake story about the bidens and burisma to smirnov, according to the indictment, which he then passed on to the fbi. republicans used some of those accusations in their short lived attempt to draw up impeachment accusations against president biden. in fact, here is senator chuck grassley quoting the lies the witness, we now know is smirnov, told the fbi. >> this fbi generated document based on information provided to the fbi by a highly credible long-serving fbi confidential human source. the fbi document shows a

criminal bribery scheme. >> he's being imprecise. the fbi document shows a source told them about a scheme, not that the scheme had happened or that the fbi was taking it seriously. president biden is in l.a. this morning and comes to the bay area this afternoon for more fundraisers. new financial data provided by the campaigns show biden out-raising his presumed challenger, donald trump, by quite a bit. but the really startling difference is the difference between the democratic national committee and the republicans. dnc reports $17 million on hand, rnc $9 million, but it owes an additional $3 million in debt. and let's not forget nikki haley. she has the least amount of money compared to biden and trump. but the takeaway is people are continuing to contribute, bringing in at least $10 million last month. she has yet to win a contest, but vows to stay in the race. the south carolina primary is

saturday. interesting story i want to leave you with. the biden administration today will announce new plans, new money to do, among other things, replacing huge cranes in america's ports. cranes built by the chinese, installed at the port of oakland just a few years ago. this is video from our sky ranger helicopter. they were shipped from shanghai. the allegation is the cranes, which use computers to recognize and categorize cargo, could pass that information back to chinese intelligence. we've reached out to the port of oakland. we want to know how many cranes are there, will they be replaced, and what does the port of oakland think about this? it's 6:47. so we expect an answer later this morning. >> looking forward to it. thanks, scott. only on nbc bay area, the daughter of a new york woman who was brutally attacked in a shocking hate crime, now working to help others across the country. this comes as the suspect returns to court today. conejero saab is live for us this morning. i understand you spoke with the victim's mother. what is she saying? >> reporter: that's right, marcus. good morning to you. i spoke with liz, the daughter of vilma attacked three years ago when she was on her way to church. the incident was one of those that highlighted the rise in asian american hate crimes during the pandemic. we have to warn you the video is disturbing. today is the sentencing that the family has been waiting for. it became one of the most visually impactful cases during the pandemic. and now, three years and a conviction later, vilma and her daughter liz, will hope to close the legal chapter of this experience as they await the sentencing today of the attacker. she tells me the last three years have been a roller coaster. her mom has healed physically but the trauma still lingers and it might never go away.

>> beyond a certain limitation, she does still require support, accompaniment, there is a fear that we think always linger to a point. i mean, when someone attacks you for your identity, that's just something that doesn't go away and it doesn't really heal on its own. >> reporter: and healing in the community is happening through liz's nonprofit, aapi belong, that was born from the outpouring of support from strangers after her mom's attack. it has been the motivation to begin a platform where people can anonymously share stories of racism, discrimination, or be a place to give support. now, here in san francisco there is a push for continued outreach services and support for elder asian community members who say they are still vulnerable to hate crimes. the san francisco d.a.'s office released the latest hate crime numbers earlier this month, and

[ laughter ] let's get a look at the forecast again. rain, how is that factoring into our day? >> it's still going to be there, but i think we all need sunshine at this point, and we do have that in the forecast as well. we're just trying to get to work this morning and dealing with some dense fog and very low visibility in parts of the north bay. look at novato right now, at

zero. so we've seen the fog really settling into some of the valleys. in livermore it's down to a quarter of a mile. fog drifting around the south bay. but as we take a look at the rain, yes, there is still some very close by, and the chance will continue today. but still southern california getting hammered with some really heavy rainfall. a closer look shows that there's some spotty light showers near the coastline, in parts of the north bay, and then as you're stepping out, heading out the door, temperatures in walnut creek are in the mid-40s. we're seeing a lot ofs and upper 40s for oakland right now. and clouds lingering overhead as we go throughout the day, a mix of sun and clouds, with our temperature up to 63 in east san jose. a lot of these numbers are close to what we've had from the past few days, but there will be some warming coming our way, as you're seeing in the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. it's going to be up to 59 in redwood city and in daly city 58

today, 58 in the ingleside district. the north bay in the upper 50s this afternoon. we will need the umbrellas in the north bay, between noon and 3rd we're tracking spotty showers popping up. there's still a lingering chance today. and then going into the next several days, it is looking so nice. saturday will be the best day to get outside this weekend, 70 and sunny. on sunday, rain chances start to creep back up with cooler weather for early next week. cinthia, you're saying the fog is slowing the drive. >> look at this camera in dublin. people driving along 580, you do have to use low beams and just give yourself enough spacing between the cars so we can get to our destination on this wednesday. let's stick in the tri-valley, some of those drive times. about a 30-minute drive from grant line to 680, and as you make your way down from 84 to 680, about a 15-minute drive there. again, the fog impacting our drive, into marin county from the richmond-san rafael bridge,

and bay bridge is backed up and it's slow into san francisco. happening now, san francisco transit leaders are keep a protected bike lane in place through the rest of the year. it's along valencia street, the median between 15th and 23rd. the bike lane was created as part of a recent pilot program. some businesses have complained due to lack of parking spaces for customers and some are threatening to take the city to court. san francisco's transportation board will decide whether to move the lane to the side of the street at the end of the year. up next, a quick look at our top stories this morning, including a disturbing hate-filled rant at an east bay city council meeting. the new fallout and response from one local leader. plus, educators in the east bay are heading to the picket lines off campus. demands they're making as co

welcome back. we're moving you forward with a look at our top stories on "today in the bay." >> we begin with a disturbing moment during last night's walnut creek city council meeting. a man wearing a shirt with a swastika and anti-semitic language launched into an attack of city council member kevin wilk. he proceeded to berate jewish people, ending his rant with a nazi salute. council member wilk is jewish and says the man is not from walnut creek. 21 east bay teacher unions will picket today, including dublin. the other chapters are lending their voices to call for better pay, better working conditions for teachers, which they say are better learning conditions for students. around 3:30 this afternoon you'll see the teachers at local education offices around the east bay, along with several

stores and intersections. and we are just hours away from president joe biden's arrival here in the bay area. here is a live look at sfo where air force one is expected to arrive a little after 3:00 this afternoon. he's in the middle of his three-day campaign swing of the west coast, attending fundraisers in los angeles last night. after landing in the bay area this afternoon, he's expected to attend two campaign events in san francisco. tomorrow he'll be in los altos hills for another fundraiser. >> it will be raining money for the president, but not from the sky. a little in the north bay but we're not expecting a widespread washout like yesterday. and our temperatures in the low 60s, tomorrow it should be completely dry. our temperatures start to warm up. headed toward a perfect saturday of 70 and sunny, and then rain chances returning on sunday into monday, with much cooler temperatures coming in. i did want to remind people that this closure over into niles canyon, that should continue until at least friday where crews are going to go out and see if it's safe to reopen.
