march is women's history month and today thousands showed up to an event in san francisco specifically celebrating asian women. it was called asian women are strong and the event took place at the ferry building on the embarcadero. i think we know that woman. yeah. the voices who empower api women of all ages and featured speakers and art and activity and booths and self-defense exercises and resources and more. it was a full day to say the least and our very own gia vang was there volunteering and christine ni was there moderating a panel. this year's theme was conquering our challenges together. >> how we connect, different generations. different socioeconomic. right. and those cultural differences and when we say asian you know, it's so broad. definitely not -- right and we all have different experiences and also a lot of similarities

shared experiences. where we can really find our strength together. >> the asians are strong movement began in 2021 in response to the wave of violent crime against the api community. the aapi community. organizers intend to keep up the free annual events for as long as there is a need. vice president kamala harris traveled to alabama today to commemorate the 59th anniversary of bloody sunday. harris spoke at the annual march across the bridge in selma. it memorializes the day in 1965 when officers attacked civil rights demonstrators trying to cross the bridge. pictures stunned americans and garnered support for the voting rights act and that act struck down barriers blocking black people from voting. today harris criticized more recent attempts by politicians to restrict voting rights including limits on absentee an early voting. >> today we know our fight forfreedom is not over.
6:14 pm
in this moment we are witnesses a fullon attack on hard fought, hard won freedoms. >> harris also drew parallels between those who stifled several rights movements and those who are trying to restraint voting education and reproductive care today. yosemite national park has partially reopened and that park shut down friday because of the blizzard warning. several roads inside park are now open but some have chain controls. the park expects to open camp grounds tomorrow if conditions continue to improve. the person i would ask to see if the conditions are going to continue to improve is rob mayeda who happens to be here right now. >> which by tomorrow it will get better. from a blizzard warning to winter storm warning. the snow is not going to stop. just not going to be as heavy. right now still some rain in san jose. a closer look at that on the radar in a moment. some clearing and also some showers a bit earlier some downpours around contra costa county there. and walnut creek. now got partly cloudy skies

closer to san francisco. and at 51 degrees and if you thought it was king of chilly for this time of year, you'd be right. today's highs only in the low to mid-50s and upper 50s near san jose. as we move forward now into the beginning of march we should see highs closer to the mid 60s and we will get there by the second half of the upcoming week. now for the morning it will be cold and perhaps cold enough for the frost to form in the north bay valleys and frost advisory up for the north bay from 1:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. tomorrow morning and where 30s are possible. but in the afternoon maybe a little bit of warming not much change until later in the week though. get closer to 60 around san jose and upper 60s to highs around oakland. a look on the radar. scattered showers and not the severe thunderstorms we had 24 hours ago. so while we've had the rain at times the intensity in term of stronger thunderstorms really not there right now. you can see a few spotty showers there around the east bay hills and a few more out into the north bay. so we still have moisture coming in mixed with the sunny
6:16 pm
breaks and we had at times today. this will keep a chance of showers ongoing into tomorrow morning. but not as much as we've seen over the weekend. so you notice as we head towards monday morning, some of the brief clearing into the north bay which could allow for some patchy frost. then the transition for the afternoon will be shower chances mainly north of san francisco and probably see more of that actually as we head into tuesday. notice here how the next storm system as it drops down to coast bringing in the chance of rain around the bay area. as early as tuesday morning. but mainly for areas on the upper peninsula up towards the north bay. now for the entire bay area, the best chance of rain looks to be right there on wednesday. and then thursday and friday, the skies start to clear and that's what's going to lead to the warmest days of the week and in fact friday's highs may run towards the upper 60s. now as we move forward towards the weekend, sunday right now tracking a little bit drier before perhaps some more rain
6:17 pm
and yes more sierra snow will be in the extended weather forecast and let's give you the view there of the 7 day forecast as we take a closer look. san francisco temperatures rebounding a bit in the low 60s for the second half of the week. and inland temperatures which have been in the 50s finally make a run towards the mid- and upper 60s later in the week. stay tuned for the next storm in the series as we head to next weekend right now terry doesn't look like it's going to have my blizzard warnings attached but the sierra snow pack when we get the update tomorrow i think is now 100% of average and to higher. the official numbers later tomorrow. terry? back up to the sierra. rob has been talking about the snow piling up and here it is. video from north lake tahoe. shows what it looked like thursday morning before the stormment then friday morning you see the -- snow on the railing there. yesterday morning. so much snow came as you -- can't even see it anymore.
