through the day today. we'll see it winding down through the next two days. but still, the scattered showers and snowshowers are going to be there. you see the rain working across parts of the northeast, rain across parts of the northern valley. and this is what we're going to be focussing on here as we get through the next day or so. the flooding concern will be there. 29 million people under flood watch, including flash flood for pittsburgh. if you've been out and about, you know we've seen 40, 50, even 60 mile-per-hour winds. downed trees and power lines still a potential. 17 million people included in that. and there's those winter alerts draped across much of new england. 8 million people included in those. we've got one system at the coast. another that's going to work its way to the east. overall it leaves us with scattered showers. snow and rain over the next day or so, jessica. >> absolutely devastating for so many people, angie, thank you. now to the breaking news from taiwan.

more than 100 people are still trapped after yesterday's deadly earthquake. overnight, six were rescued from a mine by a helicopter. but rescuers are still trying to reach about 101 more. at least nine people are dead, with more than a thousand injured. the 7.4 magnitude quake was the strongest to hit the area in a quarter of a century. nbc's janis mackey frayer spoke with an american who is living there. >> the whole world starts shaking. what was it like? >> it was pretty scary. in all the years that i've lived here and in southern california before, that i've felt a lot of your ho earthquakes, but this was by far the strongest and most frightening. it was close to two minutes. >> 46 people are still missing. nearly a thousand have been evacuated. hundreds are living in shelters. an american government source tells nbc news that president biden will speak with israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu on the phone today, and they are sure to talk about

the idf killing of seven aid workers in the gaza strip, including an american. nbc news foreign correspondent raf sanchez has the story. >> reporter: the bodies of the foreign aid workers carried out of gaza after those israeli airstrikes on vehicles marked with large world central kitchen logos. >> some of the people that died were, were my friends. and i served with them. >> reporter: the founder of the aid group, chef jose andres appearing on israeli television and demanding answers. >> they were target, systematically, car by car. so this was not just bad luck situation where oops, we dropped the bomb notice wrong place or, no. this was over 1.5, 1.8 kilometers with a very defined humanitarian convoy. >> reporter: israel's top general announcing the findings

of its preliminary investigation, calling the strikes a grave mistake. >> it was a mistake that followed a misidentification. at night, during a war in a very complex conditions. it shouldn't have happened. >> reporter: all seven world central kitchen staff who were killed have been identified. among them, 33-year-old jacob flickinger. his family sharing these photos of him with his partner and young sons. president biden saying he's outraged and heartbroken by the deaths and that israel has not done enough to protect aid workers. but the white house also saying it won't stop supplying arms to israel, which it says faces a genocidal threat from hamas. just last week, the biden administration signing off on sending israel more than 1800 bombs, and is pressing congress to approve a plan to sell israel more f-15 fighter jets in the future. meanwhile, world central kitchen

has paused its aid operations in gaza. three of its ships returning to port with vital food undelivered. another blow to the humanitarian effort just when it's needed most. and an israeli official says president biden and prime minister benjamin netanyahu are expected to speak on thursday. it will be their first call in nearly three weeks and comes amid a series of very public disagreements between the u.s. and israel, not just over the killing of those aid workers but also over israel's plans to push ahead with an attack on rafah. >> raf, thank you. prosecutors in michigan want a 10 to 15-year sentence each for james and jennifer crumbley, the parents of ethan crumbley. that's according to copies of prosecution memos obtained by nbc news. both parents were found guilty of manslaughter for ignoring warning signs and even getting the then-15-year-old a gun, which they failed to properly secure.

they will be sentenced on tuesday. the judge was also asked to take into account threats made by james crumbley against the prosecutors. rashee rice is speaking out about that car crash in dallas that injured four people. the wide receiver for the kansas city chief has been linked to one of the cars that was involved. and in a new statement he said he will continue to cooperate with authorities. he says he takes, quote, full responsibility for his part in the crash, and he apologized to everyone involved. so far there are no charges in this case. now to a major health alert this morning. the nation's largest egg producer temporarily shutting down a facility in texas after bird flu was discovered there. morgan chesky reports on the potential risks and the impact on you. >> reporter: the american agriculture industry on high alert, as a series of troubling new cases of highly-infectious avian flu hit poultry farms, dairy producers and now people.

the nation's largest egg supplier destroying nearly 2 million chickens after birds tested positive. >> it's highly dangerous to humans, although it has never shown to be easily transmissible between people. >> reporter: now a person suspected of catching this bird flu from a cow has been reported in texas. the patient, a dairy employee who worked near infected cows wasn't hospitalized and experienced only minor symptoms. the news comes as the highly-contagious bird flu has spread to dairy cattle in six states. at cedar ridge farm outside dallas, the owner has strict safety measures in place for his 14,000 chickens, but the risk remains high. >> reporter: if just one of your birds gets infected what will happen to the flock? >> they will all be destroyed. >> reporter: eggs or poultry
