breaking news that touched so many lives for so many decades. san francisco community activist reverend cecil williams. he's passed away he is one of the most influential leaders in san francisco's history. after 60 years, the spiritual leader he stepped away from the church to focus on his family and his health. williams accepted the position as pastor back in 1963. he grew the congregation to 10,000 people and became a well- known activist from issues to rights, homelessness during the a.i.d.s. crisis we just spoke with former san francisco mayor billy brown. >> by then the tenderloin had become what it is today, which means church wouldn't work. cecil understood how to make the church work with that group

the school board members calling for a third-party independent investigation into the district handling of the matter. one of his employees says he put his desk on a roof for punishment. he has been able to get away with that behavior these employees say, because of his close friendship with the superintendent and her husband the former police chief. >> i was horrified that the superintendent was still refusing to take -- the board president antonio hernandez called for a special meeting on friday to discuss disciplinary action. three out of the five board members declined to meet, prompting hernandez to resign. >> calling for an independent

investigation. why does that concern you? >> it's not an independent investigation. how can we have an independent investigation that -- >> an investigation? and happens. and needs to be done by the investigation. >> she and hernandez have another reason to believe it might not be in the pennant. they have been blocking their efforts to hold the superintendent accountable. >> of never been part of an evaluation and it has not been evaluated the entire time i've been on the board. every time we evaluate the superintendent there's been excuses related to issues that the pandemic. >> i'm not sure why there is a refusal to evaluate. is concerning for me. >> we reached out to the other three board members but have

this is a big thing. remember. this is a snapshot. we have a whole trial to go. on telling you something you will see opinions back and forth with every witness between the prosecution and the defense. >> it's interesting because at the end of each day in court he held a 1-2 minute news conference. that was the advantage of the former president. >> he certainly tried to. you got the game to himself the prosecution is not coming out every day saying what's on their mind. he saying what he wants to say every day he's in trouble doing that. the judge will talk to him tomorrow i just don't think it will be very nice. you can see what he's doing.

some actually tell you where and how to store their product. also, check your refrigerator manual or call the manufacturer they may have guidance pursuing specific product in specific places to minimize spoilage. >> understand the geography where you should be putting certain food for it to last longer. >> running the institute for food and wine science. >> it's a strategic way to manage your refrigerator. >> mold is assigned something might be wrong in the icebox. make sure the fridge is at or below 40 degrees. the usda mold fact sheet also recommends you clean inside of your refrigerator every few months with one tablespoon of baking soda dissolved in a quart of water. rinse with clear water and dry. to prevent moldy food in your pantry, the usda says cover or

steal food to prevent exposure to mold spores in the air and because mold likes high humidity, try to keep your home humidity lower than 40%. fuzzing, hairy, moldy food is always a waste. don't risk it, just throw it out. many other times we toss food that is safe to eat. perhaps you guessed the three- year-old pizza has to go in the trash. scan this form item by item list showing what is safe to eat and for how long. leftover pizza is okay four days in a clean, cool fridge. a note about expiration dates. don't make assumptions. food scientists say the date cc printed on food are mostly not hard-line expiration dates. >> they are more function of quality, than safety. it's the producers saying if you eat at the next day, it's not a safety risk.
