[ cheers and applause ] well, everyone, i'm very excited about this. it is fleet week here in new york city, and tonight, our entire audience is filled with service members of the u.s. military! [ cheers and applause ] ♪ oh, my god. looks great. u.s. military. growing up, i thought i was destined to be in the military, 'cause my teachers called me "major disappointment." [ laughter ] and yeah. how about a special round of applause for the navy and coast guard? [ cheers and applause ]

when it comes -- when it comes to being on ships, the only braver people i know are the ones who keep boarding carnival cruises. [ laughter ] i mean, what's wrong with those people? also special shout out to the army, marines, and air force. [ cheers and applause ] when it comes to being on planes, the only braver people i know are the ones who keep flying spirit airlines. [ laughter ] like, what's wrong with you? that's right, we have service members from the army, navy, marines, air force, coast guard, and for the first time ever, the space force. [ cheers and applause ] and i just want to say, i just want to thank you for your months of service. thank you so much. [ laughter ] of course, fleet week kicked off yesterday here in new york city with the parade of ships, and it ends tuesday when all the bartenders wave a a white flag. [ laughter ]

they're like, "we've had enough!" that's right, we just had the parade of ships, and two of the navy ships sailed here all the way here from -- new jersey. [ laughter ] that's true. yeah, you can tell which ships are from new jersey, their anchor is just a guy tied to a a cinder block. [ laughter ] it's like, "you shouldn't have ratted." guys, listen to this, i read that on saturday president biden will deliver the graduation commencement speech at west point. yeah, and good news, he should be finished by the fourth of july. [ light laughter ] right now, west point cadets are like, [ deep breath ] "this is what we trained for. this is what --" [ light laughter ] speaking of biden, today during a press conference at the white house, some reporters stood up to ask him questions, and biden looked pretty surprised. watch this. >> -- so people can grow. that's what it's about. [ laughter ] well, some big financial news, this week the stock market hit another all-time high. yeah, a lot of companies are doing well right now, and we thought we'd take a look at why. for instance, elmer's stock is up because boeing is using their glue to repair their planes. [ laughter and applause ] "that should be good, let's take off." next up, kfc stock is up because people think buying food from colonel sanders counts as "supporting the troops." [ laughter ] kind of real. [ scattered applause ] here's another one, sharpie stock is up because after lighting the grill this weekend, your dad's gonna need new eyebrows. [ light laughter ] next up, denny's stock is up because you can't unsee what you've seen at waffle house. [ laughter ] and finally cinnabon stock is up, because ozempic may have won the battle, but they haven't won the war. [ cheers and applause ] ♪ you still eat -- cinnabons are good.

cinnabons are good. well, switching gears, today, a a new airline for dogs called bark air took its first flight from new york to l.a. yeah, the flights take a little longer 'cause the plane has to do three circles before it lands. [ laughter ] some entertainment news, hulu is launching a new reality dating show called "virgin island," which will follow a group of virgins who are looking for love. yeah, it's crazy, i can't believe a whole show about -- i can't do this, the space force is actually here tonight, so we can't -- [ laughter and ohs ] i'm sorry, i apologize. [ cheers and applause ] >> what a week to be here. this is great, man. >> jimmy: you played -- you played a few different military characters in the past. you were a navy seal in "zero dark thirty." you have that, there. >> yes. [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: you were a green beret in "the tomorrow war," yeah. [ cheers and applause ] you starred and produced the hit amazon series "the terminal list" where you play, again, a a navy seal, again. [ cheers and applause ] when you do projects like these, what kind of feedback do you get from the military community? and are you ready for some feedback tonight? [ laughter ]

>> well, it's funny. you know, first of all, i hope it comes through that the whole creative team behind "the terminal list," and through these movies, we have the utmost respect for our men and women in our uniform. so, please, just like, i'm so plumped it's fleet week. give yourself a round of applause for having a great -- [ cheers and applause ] >> jimmy: that'll make you feel good to see everybody out there. >> so good. i -- my hat is off to you. everything i know about combat i learned from watching tv, and watching movies. and so, it was funny, 'cause my roommate, who's now my producing partner on "the terminal list," a former navy seal, he used to pick things apart. and he would see things that i just didn't know that i didn't know. you know, like, i always assumed when something explodes behind you, you just walk away. [ laughter ] you don't even flinch. you know, like, everything i know is from watching it on screen. >> jimmy: "rambo." >> so a big -- yeah, that's right, "rambo." >> jimmy: yeah, you just walk

away, "yeah!" >> and so a big part of "the terminal list" was to really take the time. and it was hiring this trifecta of former spec op -- you know special operators to oversee all of the military action, to make sure that authenticity was the northstar. so, a lot of the times the feedback that i'll get from, you know, people in uniform is they'll say, "thank you for, like, caring enough to try to get it right." the little things that you and i might not notice, they notice when they watch these types of movies. and so it's always like a -- feels like a pat on the back when i hear that from them. >> jimmy: besides just being a a busy actor, you're also a a very busy dad. >> yeah. >> jimmy: what's happening with the fam? how old is everybody now? two, three? >> i've got an 11-year-old son, and then i have a 3 1/2-year-old daughter, and 2-year-old daughter. we just celebrated two. >> jimmy: come on, oh, happy birthday. >> thank you. yeah, eloise just turned two. and you know -- you know, you have girls, it's hard, man. and having children is hard. amd my daughter likes to play this game with me called "no!"

[ light laughter ] and she always wins, 'cause she says, "no." >> jimmy: yeah. >> and i did not know you were allowed to say that to your parents. like, i grew up never being able to say no to my parent. >> jimmy: no, yeah. >> i didn't -- if i'd have known back then what i know now, i would've said no a lot more. >> jimmy: yeah, no, you don't do that, yeah. but you -- the 3-year-old -- or the 2 1/2-year-old wrote -- >> yes, this is -- i sent you this picture. this is my 3 1/2-year-old who wrote her sister's name, who's two. eloise -- lyla wrote this. and katherine sent this to me just yesterday. and i was like, "you gotta --" >> jimmy: eloise is a tricky -- and it's a beautiful name. >> eloise is -- i did not know how to spell it until i saw this photo. [ light laughter ] yeah, lyla -- >> jimmy: your own daughter's name? >> yeah, i did not. >> jimmy: good for you. >> i was like, "there's no 'y'?" it made no sense. no, but yeah, but look at this. "eloise," she spelled that, and she's only 3 1/2-years-old. >> jimmy: that's not too shabby. >> come on, give it up for -- give it up for lyla. you're so smart, honey, i love you. i mean, we -- yes. yeah, i'm a sentimental guy, and i like to keep everything. i've always wanted to be the kind of guy who would keep everything, but i'm so disorganized. but thankfully katherine is so incredibly organized. and she -- she has -- and she gets it from her mom, 'cause her mom actually kept all of her things from when she was young. for example, the dress that my daughters were baptized in, is the same katherine wore when she was baptized. >> jimmy: wow. >> so, her mom keeps all of this stuff and now it's filtering into our house. and it's really kind of an amazing thing to be able to hold onto things. i think there's a certain limit to the amount of stuff that you should hold onto. >> jimmy: well, there's one photo that was posted on the internet that i thought was interesting. this is katherine's old trophies. >> yes. let me -- yes. this one is for, uh -- [ light laughter ] like, "most improved swimmer" in -- and i think she was the only one in the class or something. [ laughter ] so, there's a lot of trophies where i'm like, "do you need to keep all of this stuff?" >> jimmy: "you keep that

trophy?" >> "is that the one you need?" her mom did a great job of storing and organizing all this stuff, but then this stuff showed up at my house. and i was like, "gosh, it is so amazing that your mom had this moment for you to see these things. oh, man. all right, so, can we get rid of this [ bleep ]?" >> jimmy: yeah, yeah, yeah. [ light laughter ] i want to talk about "the garfield movie." congrats, this is a big weekend for you. >> yes. >> jimmy: it's gotta feel good to make a movie that your kids can see, and laugh at, and watch. >> yeah, for sure, for sure. and it's definitely a movie that's safe for kids. you know, and what's nice about it, having kids now, oftentimes, you know, one of the few downsides of having a a career in film or television, is you do these jobs that take you away from home, and so you're just not present. you might be in budapest for a a few months, or london, or whatever, atlanta. and so, doing voiceover work is a really nice way to sleep in your own bed at night. and to be doing a movie that is a movie that my kids can watch, it's really a real blessing for me as a -- having young kids. >> jimmy: "garfield," and this is your dad, this is vic. >> that's, yeah, vic played by
