a new push for funding to make improvements at one of california's most dangerous train crossings, which happens to be right here in the bay area. plus, a critical day in former president donald trump's historic hush money trial. both sides are set to make their final plea to jurors. the potential impact on the 2024 campaign this is today in the bay. good tuesday morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia and i'm marcus washington. mike's going to have a look at that commute coming up in just a bit. i like that pocket square by the way. thank you. you want i'll get it later. we'll work this out. but let's get a look at what's going on there. all right. well, it feels like it's been summer, like around the bay area. now that we've unofficially kicked it off after memorial day. and we are going to have actually cooler temperatures for this afternoon as we take a live look outside in san jose. we're going to have our morning start, our typical
5:02 am
start in the mid 50s. but then we're also going to be mostly cloudy through the next few hours. and once that marine layer clears out, we are going to have a slightly cooler day and temperatures going from low 70s at noon to mid 70s for later today, up to 71 in fremont, and looking at some upper 70s for parts of the north bay. we'll talk about our range and temperatures and what's ahead. coming up, mike, you already have a couple of crashes out there. yes, but just a couple of crashes. those are the only two incidents we have on the grid. south bay had a crash down here near bailey, but it did clear without any major issues. we're looking over to highway four in your commute direction. right around willow pass road. there is a crash now on the shoulder, but it involves a big rig, so i've got my eyes on that to see if there's any complications with towing things away. meanwhile, southbound 880, as you're getting down toward marina, there is a crash here as well. reports that it crossed the freeway, went into the center divide. so i believe that's where everything is riding. we have no slowing in

the area, but we'll continue to watch this as well. no injuries reported. that's the good news. but not far from here, a similar situation. this is not related as far as i know because i think marcus, you have a crash also in the area. hand it off to you. all right. thanks, mike. with that breaking news from overnight out of the east bay, a person shot and killed. now police are searching for the suspect. let's check in with today in the bay bob redell. he joins us live from san leandro, where the victim was found dead in a car crash. what do we know here, bob? good morning. lauren. marcus. we're here on macarthur and durant in san leandro, outside the soundtech music karaoke business here, where you can see there was a car crash and it was in this car crash where this shooting victim passed away. right here on this sidewalk overnight. this all unfolded around 1120 last night and actually started about a mile from here on macarthur and 98th, which is actually in oakland now. that's where police responded to reports of shots fired. an officer on the scene told our photographer that someone was shot while sitting
5:04 am
in a car. now you should be able to see in the video dozens of shell casings on the ground at that location after the shooting. after this person was shot, the victim either drove or had someone else drive them to the location where i'm at. again, about a mile away, and their vehicle crashed into a white van, which crashed into this building and in the black car carrying the victim. that car has since been removed, wrecked up onto the sidewalk where the victim was declared dead from their gunshot wounds because it was really loud and so the guy was sitting in the car. i couldn't vaguely i could see him, but i couldn't get a good look at him. but he wasn't moving at all. so apparently he must have been dead because that car had to be going over 100 and some miles per hour. you know, it was going crazy. so again, the victim died here on the sidewalk in a black car that has since been removed. but the white van remains. traffic here on macarthur is as normal. people are driving back and forth pretty fast, actually, out

what we typically see for this time of year before that major snow melt has really finished. so we're seeing a lot of our reservoirs in the 80 to 90, even close to 100% range of total capacity. and now we're also looking at a couple of storm systems moving across the pacific northwest. you can see the clouds reaching closer to the bay area. and then we also have the coastal fog that we've seen developing. so that's going to keep our temperatures down, the storm staying to our north. but then going into the end of the weekend, we do get a slight cool down as that rain approaches far northern california. but then shortly thereafter that high pressure builds and our temperatures will quickly ramp up for that first week of june. so now we're still enjoying some mild weather, but it will get a little bit warmer through the end of the week, and the peak of those temperatures will be on thursday, with a lot of our inland spots up to 90 degrees, and thankfully we won't see that for the weekend. we're
