first, this morning we continue to amplify the aa and nhpi community, where we shine a light on a nonprofit, a local nonprofit which provides health care for underserved community members. we're talking about the asian health services, as it's celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. the services locations all over alameda county, they provide what it calls whole patient health care, like primary and dental and mental health services. they mainly focus on caring for asian community members regardless of income, insurance or immigration status. and one special service the patients especially appreciate is they provide care in the language the patients speak. like korean, mandarin, vietnamese. they have 14 languages they speak in total. we spoke with the ceo more about it. i mean, we have patients that come over 30 miles just to come to see us because they know that they can get a provider that speaks their language, but
5:17 am
also because we tailor our services to our community's culture. we also spoke to one woman who receives care at asian health services. she says she goes there specifically because they speak shanghainese again, along with 13 other languages. they just, service is a perfect, we were underinsured when she came to us, but, asian health services helped us clean up her insurance. so that she can get some health care. so they also advocate and support people impacted by asian hate. they sponsor legislators, they spread awareness. they provide programs to help victims navigate their emotions and report the crime. they help them become acculturated to something that's so different from what they might be used to. i'm honored to emcee their gala again this year. i've been doing so for over five, maybe seven years. this year again is their 50th anniversary celebration. later in september. we have many more stories. website. just head to

university. doctor jackson, this is a historic morning. we're focusing on the fallout from this verdict. talk to us about where you think the impact of this will fall. right. well, i think that it's probably not going to affect donald trump's support among his base, but going into the november election, we're really focusing on those moderate voters, those independent voters, those folks who are maybe still on the fence and having 34 felony convictions is likely to do not play well with those voters who are still trying to make up their minds. i mean, i know in listening to yesterday's coverage, there are new numbers, polls that have been really trying to predict what the behavior of voters will be, how accurate are some of those polls that, you know, come out this early on? right. well, we're still five months away from the election. so you always want to take the early polls with, you know, appropriate caution. they get more accurate
5:37 am
the closer we get to election day. it's also not always as accurate to ask voters what would you do if, you know, the hypotheticals are hard for people to really wrap their heads around? now we have a verdict. and now people can start processing that information. i see. so maybe that the question will be more concrete, at least at this point. we talk about the support from his voters. what about the support from the republican party? i mean, we saw that lawmakers were there at the trial showing their support for mr. trump, for the former president. how will this affect them? i don't think it's going to affect his support from the party too much either. he really has a pretty strong lock on the republican party at this point. but again, not the whole republican party. remember we had about 20% of voters in some states voting for nikki haley in the primary. and so those, again, more moderate republicans , particularly women, may be taking a second look. and this could really hurt him there.
