the heat is on meteorologist gary hall breaking down just how hot it's going to get this week in the bay area. you're watching today in the bay. a very good morning to you, and thanks so much for starting your day with us. i'm laura garcia and i'm marcus washington. well, a lot to talk about this morning. that's right. to develop minutes east of livermore, where firefighters finally appear to have the upper hand on northern california's first large wildfire of the year, the corral fire burned more than 14,000 acres near tracy. now, evacuees are being told they can return to their homes today in the bay's thom jensen live at the command post between tracy and modesto and tom. certainly a busy weekend for firefighters really. already across the bay area it really has been, and this one has been difficult. you can see it's really windy out here again this morning. so
5:02 am
challenging for firefighters. this fire has already burned more than 14,000 acres after starting friday afternoon. and it has destroyed a couple of homes burning mostly through brush land. it is now 50% contained, though, according to cal fire. we've seen some water tenders coming through here this morning. they've set up an incident command center. this is just off of highway 132. so we're east of livermore, west of tracy, as i said, this is now 50% contained. we'll learn more about what sort of headway cal fire has made overnight. later on this morning in a press conference, this fire swept through the area over the weekend after it started friday afternoon, it quickly spread over thousands of acres pushed by these winds. it was more than firefighters could do to contain it quickly. and hundreds of people homes had to be evacuated. one man talked to us about how his parents barely got out of their home before the home they've lived in for 35 years, burned to the ground. they had enough time to grab the animals, some dog food, a bag of
5:03 am
clothes, and that was it. so they didn't grab their meds, they didn't grab, you know, any other any other items or, you know, like documents or anything like that. and while firefighters were working to save homes, two homes were lost in san jose as fire ripped through neighborhood saturday afternoon. this is near quimby road, close to eastridge mall. neighbors said it started in a garage and spread to a house next door, quickly engulfing the other home. it took two hours for san jose firefighters to get the fires under control. the cause is still under investigation. hopefully we'll have better news here on the choral fire later on this morning in a press conference that cal fire is going to have here at 7:00. so we'll have that on today in the bay at seven. for now, we're live near tracey thom jensen today in the bay. all right. thank you very much. so, so busy and already this threat of wildfires out there
5:04 am
now and then, we've had a lot of wind as well. yeah. it was so windy over the weekend in those areas. and we're still seeing some breezy winds. i want to show you the current conditions near the corral fire. and we are seeing temperatures already this morning in the upper 60s. and some of those wind gusts at about 16mph. but this started saturday afternoon with a high rate of spread because of those 25 to 45 mile per hour winds that were just funneled through this area and that caused it to spread as we go throughout today, it's still going to be very breezy, and at times, those winds picking up we're expecting in that area. it's possible that we could see 25 to 35 mile per hour winds as we go through the day, but the humidity is another factor. starting out this morning with some high humidity. but then as we go throughout the day, humidity levels will be dropping and when we see them in the teens and 20s, that's extremely dry air and then we're bracing for the high heat that's ahead as we go through the next couple of days. not today. we're
5:05 am
still going to have some mild weather, but this begins tomorrow for the tri-valley and inland east bay into the north bay with a heat advisory that will be in effect from tuesday to thursday. as we could see some triple digit temperatures. here's a look at today's high temperatures. still really nice. upper 70s for los gatos, mid 70s for san jose and mid 70s for livermore as you make your way over toward fairfield and vacaville, that's where we have 80s, but we could see some triple digits there by the end of the week. so we'll talk about that. mike, you've already been tracking some closures. yeah. let's take a look over here. this is from the weekend. speed sensors are lit up now along southbound 680 for your morning commute. but if you were out and about this weekend, you might have seen this. they had some work continuing between al costa boulevard and the five 8680 interchange. that's through san ramon into pleasanton. caltrans crews were working on that. all weekend ongoing repaving project, but they reported no delays. should be all picked up this morning. and as we look at those sensors, we see that there
5:06 am
is no delay reported. in fact, no slowing. it was blacked out this weekend or read it out, i guess for the closure. a little slowing approaching the interchange. and that's typical as folks do start for the morning commute. the fire had portions of 580 closed out as well. the corral fire that has reopened over the weekend. and now we just have your typical commute out of the altamont pass. nothing for the south bay peninsula or getting into the city. back to you. all right. thank you very much, mike. well, history made in mexico, where voters have elected the country's first ever woman president, claudia sheinbaum is now projected to have an insurmountable lead. she will also be mexico's first jewish president. sheinbaum is a climate scientist by profession and once studied physics and engineering at cal. she was also current president andrés manuel lopez obrador's chosen successor for, and for the first time ever, mexicans living abroad could vote in the presidential election. that led to many citizens in the bay area voting in person at the local mexican consulates. in some cases, voters say they waited eight hours to cast their ballots. the

line is almost three kilometers long. it's crazy how how many people are here. it was like five hours. i think that it was overwhelming for the people here. it was. i don't think they were prepared for the turnout to be so high. an estimated 300 people were actually turned away from the mexican consulate in san jose. a national election spokesperson in mexico says they never expected such a huge turnout. in a late night speech, opposition candidate socal chavez conceded defeat. the political fallout continues. this is from the historic conviction of former president donald trump. however, polls suggest that the guilty verdict is not doing much to sway voters. this comes as president biden is dealing with his son's legal challenges as he ramps up his reelection campaign today in the bay's alice barr joins us live from washington this morning. alice good morning marcus. a lot to track today from the courtroom to the

campaign trail. the trump campaign says it's raised more than $52 million in donations since the verdict in that case. but polls are showing the presidential race largely unchanged in the wake of his hush money trial conviction on all 34 felony counts, former president trump saying he thinks the public would reach a breaking point if he's sentenced to prison or house arrest. that could happen. i don't know that the public would stand it. you know, i don't. i'm not sure the public would stand for it. since the verdict, trump supporters have posted violent threats online against the judge. jury and prosecutors. the former president's sentencing date is july 11th, just four days before the start of the republican national convention, when he is set to be officially named the party's presidential nominee. there's no doubt that this verdict has actually brought unifying, unifying our party without any question. what we've seen is never trumpers calling me and saying, tim, i'm on the bandwagon now. house republicans

calling for the manhattan district attorney and lead prosecutor to testify on capitol hill. a new abc news ipsos poll shows 50% of american adults surveyed right after the verdict believe it was correct. democrats adamant the trial upheld the rule of law. it's pretty simple, and that jury was selected in part by donald trump and his attorneys. they've added each of the jurors. he had every right that every other criminal defendant has in that courtroom. it all comes as jury selection begins today in delaware for the trial of president biden's son, hunter biden, on federal charges related to a gun purchase in 2018. he's accused of lying on a government form and buying and owning a gun while using illegal drugs. the president's son has pleaded not guilty, and. sources familiar with the matter tell nbc news the biden campaign is planning to stay quiet about the hunter biden trial. the president is heading overseas this week. he's set to give a

speech on thursday in france commemorating the 80th anniversary of d-day. marcus. all right. alice barr in washington this morning, alice. thank you. vice president kamala harris arrives in southern california today ahead of her bay area visit midweek, all of which precedes a bay area visit by former president trump. harris arrives in los angeles later today. now her primary california residence. on wednesday, she'll attend two bay area fundraisers, one in oakland, one in san francisco, before heading back to the capital the next day. former president trump arrives in the bay area. he'll attend a fundraiser in san francisco, the lowest cost for a ticket to that event is $50,000. trump is expected to be sentenced for his recent hush money conviction on july 11th. take a live look out in san jose this morning, starting now. nice and beautiful meteorologist kari hall has a look at what we can expect with those temperatures today. it's going to be a warm one today. kari. yeah, it's going to be really nice across the bay area
5:11 am
even a little bit cooler than it has been, all thanks to more cloud cover coming in. and we have such a big difference in what we'll see today compared to what we'll begin to see tomorrow into the rest of the week. hot days and warm nights ahead with an elevated fire danger with grasses and brush particularly very possibly sensitive to the high heat that we're going to see a look at our temperatures is headed for the mid 70s for san jose and up to 77 in napa. really comfortable. while oakland will see a high of 71. and then once again, the heat comes in tomorrow. so we'll talk more about that in a few minutes. mike, you've been tracking the roads. what's going on now? yeah. let's check out those gas prices. the roadways are looking pretty smooth. so we'll talk about those gas prices as we look over starting the alameda county fremont. we have 439 over there at the station on grimmer. cupertino has 453 and larkspur the low 469. these prices have not changed since over the weekend. so that's the good news. things are status quo onto the roadways. also pretty status quo. green sensors around the

bay outside of the altamont pass, where we have just that little bit of slowing typical as folks come into the area. alameda county, contra costa county, not seeing any additional slowing just yet. the commute is starting to build. oh wait, i see right under that highway four shield coming into concord. a little slowing. i will check that out. back to you. all right. thanks, mike. oh, wait, there's more. a lot more news coming up on today in the bay and right there, simone biles, superstar winning another title and breaking a record along the way. we have killed it. plus, gamestop back in the app. he said he trump on tiktok

back today in berkeley. it's going to be mostly cloudy throughout the day, some peeks of sunshine, and it's also going to stay in the 60s even into the afternoon. it's going to be the coolest day of the week before the high heat arrives. we'll talk about that coming up in a few minutes. and over here doesn't look like high heat. it looks like the golden gate bridge postcards. sometimes the fog. it's not a big deal, actually. low clouds because we can see the deck and drivers are moving just fine through the area. this is kind of standard. so as the flow of traffic, we'll see how it builds coming up. well good morning. very happy monday to you. it's the first trading day of june and may was

of stores that sells video games . in a time in which nearly all video game players download their games directly. well, donald trump's campaign has joined tiktok. the campaign says it will try to get trump's winning message to as many people as possible. this despite the fact it was trump and his administration who first suggested banning tiktok, an idea the biden administration has adopted. though the biden campaign is also got a tik tok, tik tok account. independent candidate for president robert kennedy jr says he's been offered a town hall on x, the company we used to call twitter x says donald trump will also participate in a separate town hall on the service. you may recall ron desantis launched his campaign on accident was a disaster. hosts david sachs and elon musk hampered by substandard connections, technical problems, a host of other issues. and it became a bit of a metaphor for desantis race. for the white house. nasa

scrubbed the launch of its boeing starliner capsule over the weekend, supposed to carry two astronauts to the international space station, having said why only that a countdown computer detected a problem. we don't know if that was with the boeing capsule or the nasa rocket. they may try later this week, but we do know boeing has been bedeviled by problems with this capsule, which has yet to carry anybody, anywhere. it's seven years behind schedule. spacex meanwhile, has carried astronauts to the iss on its dragon capsule nine times. later this week, spacex will conduct a test of its starship rocket, and laura and marcus starship is on the right. largest rocket ever constructed boeing's starliner on the left. they have such similar names, i thought i'd show them side by side. starliner yet to succeed starship designed to take astronauts to the moon and beyond. but it, too has never had a crew either. but it's an exciting time, but a constant frustration for boeing. yeah. no doubt. thank you. scott you bet. well, check this out. olympic

gold medalist simone biles one step closer to competing for team usa in paris. so she won her ninth all around national title last night. and the us gymnastics championship in texas. her victory officially clinches her spot to compete in the us olympic trials later this summer. biles is now the first gymnast, man or woman to win nine all around titles. she finished with the highest two day score on four events last time she did that was during the nationals in 2018. now don't forget you can watch the olympics right here on nbc bay area. such a powerhouse to watch. amazing. all right. this is another powerhouse we want to talk about times three. all right. so this morning we want to congratulate three very special graduates out there. laura's triplets eighth grade graduation over the weekend. and look at this. wow. i know a lot of you all have seen them grow up. claire. jack. catherine. now heading to high school. and i'm sure a lot of people are like,

wow, i remember when she was pregnant with them. yes, so many people reach out and say that. they're like, i remember i had to sit kind of a little further back. yes, often leaving the desk and coming right back. quick break. right? that's right. but you know, it really shows how time flies. yeah. it's amazing. oh that's great, but a great big celebration in our house. times. three great young adults here raising. yeah. thank you. knock on some way okay. they are their high school here. they come. yeah. they're probably sleeping in. they get you know finals on summer break. summer break has started. there you go. any plans for the summer for them, yeah. some summer school. yay. no. so some good trips coming up. you know, trying to make the most of the time where they still want to be. oh, yeah. yeah. you know, but they're already planning. they want to swim this weekend. kerry. yeah. that's good. we're going to have the weather for it. perfect. good. we're going to make that happen for you because so far we haven't had to deal with any really extreme heat. but this may be the first blast of a stretch of some
5:21 am
really hot temperatures that we'll see in the valleys. we're already starting out warm. it's 64, in san jose. usually we're in the mid 50s and we're in the upper 50s for dublin and san francisco. taking a look at our highs today and overlaid with this, you can see the color contours. this is the heat risk index with our high temperatures. so today there's not a big risk of any heat that will affect some of the more sensitive population. we're going to see some mid to upper 70s in parts of the north bay. and then going into tomorrow that heat risk starts to expand into the bay area as we see some highs that will be topping out in the low to mid 90s. in the north bay, we're in the upper 80s and low 90s for the east bay into the tri-valley and the south bay will be up to 93. in morgan hill, the peninsula will be in the low 80s. but then looking at wednesday as the heat ramps up even more, we'll see a high of 97 in concord on wednesday and up to 97 in morgan hill. we're also going to see those temperatures heating up
5:22 am
near the coastline, so we have a system that's passing very close to the bay area with some showers to our north that will give us some clouds. but throughout the week, the heat quickly builds and we're going to have some really hot temperatures ahead. one of our typical spots that heats up very much. we're going to see that in brentwood up to 103 degrees on wednesday, and we're still pretty warm for the weekend as our highs will reach into the upper 80s and low 90s. so we will have several days of high heat for the inland areas and we're going to see some 90s extended through the middle of the week, but it will get slightly cooler, especially for san francisco this weekend. mike, what's going on on long highway four? yeah, we had that slowing that popped up. it's still there. that is the last of three sections or three projects that were going on, and it's still going on restricting some lane flow as the commute builds scheduled to be there possibly till 6 a.m. i think it will clear up in the next 15 to 20 minutes. we'll watch. that's the slow drive coming into bay point out of pittsburgh. not really an

first female president but didn't come without some issues. the reason not everyone got to vote at this year's election, although it had the greatest number of voters abroad taking part. this is today in the bay. good morning to you. on this monday, i'm marcus washington and i'm laura garcia. we're tracking a lot on this monday morning for you two homes in the east san jose hills destroyed this morning after a fire there. investigators say the flames started in a garage at a home on quimby near eastridge mall. and then that fire spread to a neighboring home. investigators say the embers drifted, starting two more fires in an adjacent neighborhood. it actually forced some people to dangerously try to put out the fire themselves, some using their feet or even a garden hose to try to put out the flames. embers of tree, i guess a palm tree were starting to fall on my driveway and i saw
5:32 am
one, stomped it out, saw another, stomped it out. next thing you know, it was just out of control and one that felt like about this big got me on the back of my neck and i just screamed, i'm up on the roof. i start spraying the neighbor's house because i don't know if he's home, but i'm not taking a chance. a total of six structures, including two homes, burned in the fire. luckily, no one was hurt. the cause of the original fire is still under investigation. meantime, east of livermore, firefighters now have the upper hand. this is in the corral fire. this is south of tracee. a firefighter is monitoring for hot spots. this after more than 14,000 acres of burn. now that fire started saturday night and for a time it shut down interstate 581 home we know was destroyed. but now all evacuation orders have been lifted. we spoke with a man whose parents lost their home. they are believed to be safe now facing, now faced with starting over, they had enough time to
5:33 am
grab the animals, some dog food, a bag of clothes and that was it. so they didn't grab their meds. they didn't grab, you know, any other any other items or, you know, like documents or anything like that. cal fire says about 200 families were under evacuation orders at the peak of the fire. and our thom jensen is near the front lines this morning. he'll have a report for us at the top of the hour. meteorologist cory carl is joining us now. so kerry, what kind of conditions are we talking about now with firefighters? definitely much more favorable compared to over the weekend. it's not as windy and the humidity is higher. all of that was a factor when we had those cooler temperatures. but it also came along with some winds that were gusting 25 to 45mph in that area. when that fire started on saturday afternoon. as of now, it's in the upper 60s, and we're getting gusts at 21mph. that may get stronger as we go throughout today. but looking at that area in the in the altamont pass and
5:34 am
over the hills, over toward tracey, we are expecting winds at 25 to possibly 30mph today, but we're also looking at higher humidity, which helps slow the growth of the fire. and then as we go into the next couple of days, our other concern here will be the high heat. a heat advisory going up for the east bay hills, as well as the north bay and the heat risk is pretty low today with temperatures in the 70s and low 80s. but tomorrow we're expecting 90s and even triple digits for the north bay into the east bay. and as we talk about that extreme heat, it's going to be taking hold of the bay area this week. it is another example of our climate in crisis with the official start of summer drawing closer, so too does the concern about climate change, and it's this appropriate impact, a disproportionate impact on low income families as well as communities of color. now, according to the nonprofit america's health, more people died of extreme heat in 2022,
5:35 am
more than any other weather event combined. now, heat is also one of the major cause of deaths in the workplace for both for agricultural worker as well as people who work in manufacturing. we spoke to the chief science officer at the robert wood johnson foundation, alonso plow, and he says that local and state governments need to provide better remedies and conditions to mitigate, mitigate dangerous summer temperatures that can be turning parking lots into, open space and parks, planting of trees, that makes a big difference, cities should be thinking about, for low income families, energy supports that allow them to be able to run air conditioning, in their, fragile, budgets, and then an attention, i think particularly in low income housing, air conditioning just has to become a requirement
5:36 am
and not something optional. the threat of rising temperatures on public health is compounded under a resource in under-resourced community who are most vulnerable to increased health risks, such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion. back to you, laura. marcus. thank you. carrie 535 right now, historic new developments in mexico, which just elected its first female president. she has a long history here in the bay area. yeah. today in the bay ginger conejero saab live for us in san francisco this morning. and ginger, this election also a historic one for mexicans, mexican citizens living abroad, including right here in the bay area that's right. good morning. marcus and laura. a significant election for the first time ever, mexican consulates in different places, including here in san francisco, as well as down in san jose, allowed mexican citizens who were living
5:37 am
abroad to vote in the country's historic election, also a huge first for mexico. this time around, a woman is projected to become mexico's first female president. claudia sheinbaum received around 60% of the vote, according to the national electoral institute. sheinbaum is a climate scientist and completed work for her doctorate thesis at the lawrence berkeley national laboratory here in the bay area. she was also the former mayor of mexico city, now opposition candidate socal galvez had between 26 to 28% of the vote, while george alvarez martinez received around 10% of the vote. both candidates have reportedly conceded the election, now electing a female after 200 years is a huge first for mexico, as is allowing votes outside of the country in this election. for the first time, mexican nationals living abroad took to the polls here in san francisco at the consulate as well as in san jose. it did not,
5:38 am
however, go as smoothly as many had hoped. many waited for hours and were still turned away. it's crazy how how many people are here trying to show their dignity, their liberty to vote and not having that opportunity to be able to do it in the right manner and in the democratic way. i've been here almost like six hours and we're still waiting, but i'm not leaving because, you know, i want to stay. if i can vote until tomorrow, i stay here. while voting tomorrow, which is today, did not happen, some would be voters never did cast their ballot. and despite being in line when the doors closed at 5:00, adding to some tense scenes with people chanting and pounding on the door there at the consulate in san jose, hundreds were turned away at the door. now, a national institute for election spokesperson admitted that they did not expect such a huge turnout, but
5:39 am
they did say that nationals had months to vote either on online or by mail. now, sheinbaum is expected to assume her historic post on october 1st for one six year term in san francisco, ginger conejero saab today in the bay history being made there. all right. thank you, ginger. well, there's still no update this morning from san jose police on the mysterious death first reported before noon yesterday. officers found someone unresponsive on the side of the road at 17th and east santa clara streets. the paramedics could not revive them. we do know police are treating this case as a homicide. anyone with information is asked to call san jose police department. now. police so far not identifying the suspect in a hit and run. who smashed his suv into a booth at a downtown walnut creek farmers market. two people were critically injured. happened about 24 hours ago on locust near kohl avenue. police say that officers later tracked down
5:40 am
that suv and officers arrested the driver. the farmers market was canceled. 539 a key figure in the fight against covid returns to washington, d.c. today, doctor anthony fauci will answer house panel questions about whether government backed scientists were transparent about virus research. house committee members will also question fauci about his relationship with an adviser, who may have skirted public records requests by using gmail to conduct official business. let's take a live look outside. look at this beautiful sunrise there. this is in dublin this morning. meteorologist kari hall is tracking what we can expect temperature wise, kerry, just this morning. it is warmer than we used to see. almost ten degrees in some spots. it's a lot warmer and it will stay a little bit cooler than what we typically see, because of the cloud cover that we are going to see a lot of clouds today, as well as higher humidity. so that makes it feel warmer too. but tomorrow we'll really get that blast of heat with some valley
5:41 am
temperatures in the 90s and even over 100 degrees, we have more hot days and warm nights with an elevated fire danger, especially to those grasses and brush. but here's another look at that live view in dublin. and we're starting out temperatures in the low 60s. but notice that through most of the day it will stay in the 60s, only reaching into the low 70s. just briefly during the middle of the afternoon. we'll be tracking that ramp up of heat coming up in a few minutes. but mike, you've got a couple of changes for the better. yeah, we have green sensors for the most part for the better. highway four, where we had all that slowing in the crew that was scheduled to possibly be there till six has cleared already. and we talked about that. we think it was going to be closer to 545. and even better than that, look at recovery for highway four westbound into pittsburgh clearing. by the time we get to bay point and no problem out of antioch for westbound highway four up here, we do hear the manzanita park and ride lot. the lower one was scheduled to be closed. i heard about high tides last week. there hasn't been an update on the system, so i'm going to try

and check to see. but just to note, that might still be closed today for the area. we know that typically floods when the water comes up. there during the tides when they're higher. no surprises there and no surprise for highway 37. that slowing did kick off in a little bill for richmond, but again, highway four actually should see some recovery. but the build is on, so we'll still see some slowing over the next few and building back to you. all right. thanks so much, mike. 541 this morning ensuring access to contraception today in the bay. we're going to have more on that new bill up for a vote this week on capitol hill. jury selection begins today in the hunter biden gun form trial. we'll tell you all about it coming up. plus celebrating 30 years of the today plaza. we'll look back at many memories the today show has shared with viewers across the bay area and america. keep it here. you're

golden gate bridge, the low clouds lingering there throughout the morning, and then we'll still have cloud cover throughout the day as our temperatures stay in the 60s for this afternoon. few peeks of sunshine, a lot more sun in the midweek forecast as temperatures ramp up. we'll talk about that high heat coming our way in a few minutes and the traffic ramping up right on schedule for a monday. the metering lights are active and we have a bit of slowing now visible at the toll plaza. this will build pretty quickly, i think, given the volume that we see coming out of

the maze and off the ramp. but we'll talk about that and we'll see how things do shape up over the next few. thank you very much, kerry and mike. the senate is expected to vote on the right to contraception act this wednesday. it will all take place. the bill would actually protect a person's ability to access contraceptives and protect a health care provider's ability to provide those contraceptives. it is expected to fail in the closely divided senate, where most republicans oppose the legislation. this comes nearly two years after the supreme court overturned roe v wade. president biden's son, hunter, will go on trial today in delaware and scott mcgrew the allegations in the younger biden registered to buy a gun and lied on the form. yeah, and it's something he's acknowledged. did happen in previous plea deals that went bust. hunter biden, of course, a private citizen, someone who has struggled a great deal with drugs and alcohol. and that goes to the core of the charge. so there's this checkbox on a form you fill
5:47 am
out when you buy a gun that attests you are not an addict. he checked that box claiming he wasn't. there's another federal law that says those who abuse drugs may not legally possess a weapon. now, these charges have nothing to do with president biden or the biden administration, nor do the other charges hunter biden faces on failure to pay taxes. now, we don't think the president will attend his son's trial. however, the president's calendar shows he and the first lady will stay at their delaware home today, not far from the courthouse. tomorrow, the president will be back at the white house. we expect he will announce a new temporary limit on the number of people who can apply for asylum when border officials say they're overwhelmed, which is really all the time. this is the same plan republicans came up with in their tough new border bill, which they then voted against at the behest of donald trump, who said he wanted the border problem to remain an issue in the campaign. okay, so a reminder we've got two border crossing problems. the first is
5:48 am
people crossing illegally over the walls, so to speak. the other, much larger challenge are the people crossing legally into the united states, following us law, showing up to ports of entry, asking for asylum. the bill that was never passed. and we think the president's plan to be announced tomorrow deals with that second, larger problem. donald trump spoke to fox news over the weekend about his new felony conviction, saying he was barred from speaking about it, though that's not specifically true. i'm not allowed to talk about it because i have a gag order. i'm probably, i guess, the first, presidential nominee and the leader, the leading crooked joe by a lot. that's not allowed to talk. maybe they're doing me a big favor. who knows? but i'm not allowed to talk. i'm gagged. nobody's ever heard of it. now trump is allowed to speak about this. he's just barred from talking about the prosecutor. no, he's allowed to talk about the prosecutor. he's
5:49 am
barred from speaking about court staff and witnesses. absolutely not allowed to talk about the prosecutor, the judge, which he did. he also spoke about the potential for unrest. were he jailed or put under house arrest. so that could happen? i don't know that the public would stand it. you know, i don't i'm not sure the public would stand for it with a house arrest or i think i think it would be tough for the public to take, you know, at a certain point there's a breaking point. now, speaker johnson said on fox news sunday republicans should fight back with all legal means, but remain within the rule of law in the system. listen, we are the rule of law. party chaos is not a conservative value, and we have to fight back and we will with everything in our arsenal. but we do that within the confines of the rule of law. we believe in our institutions. trump will be sentenced to july 11th. of course, still faces three more criminal prosecutions. laura always a lot to follow there.

forecast. so looking ahead. but we do have more warm weather coming our way as we go deeper into the month of june and our temperatures once again hot with the hottest day on tuesday into wednesday. thursday we're up to 90. in the inland areas, but then in the mid to upper 80s for the weekend. saturday and sunday. not bad at all. while san francisco will go from mid 60s today to 80 tomorrow. also a significant warm up over the next 24 hours. and mike, you're saying that so far the commute looks pretty smooth. pretty smooth here. pretty predictable. the backup at the bay bridge actually not as not as bad as we saw a few minutes ago. it's kind of easing up as far as the volume coming in, and things have settled down to your typical as you expected just before 6:00 on a monday. this is as we're coming toward the summer months right? so we'll see a lighter volume of traffic on the early commute. and we see the slowing into the city. that's why they do usually queue those metering lights, some slowing in richmond. and then typical for 37 out of vallejo highway four into concord, we see how things smoothed out
