fast moving fire erupted in reno, and now the rush is on to get a lot of people to safety as firefighters battle those flames. our team is tracking the current conditions also taking center stage. the candidates set to take part in a key debate as the san francisco mayoral race

heats up. plus, new accusations of war crimes. our washington insider joins us live, breaking down the claims against both israel and hamas this morning. this is today in the bay. it's 5:00 on your wednesday morning. thanks for starting your day with us. i'm laura garcia, and i'm kris sanchez. marcus is off. we have a lot to get to this morning. we certainly do. we begin with the latest on the fire burning in nevada. it started last night near reno. it is happening in sparks, nevada, behind hug high school. firefighters have been battling the flames throughout the night. so far, that fire has burned 35 acres. this is actually the second fire in this area. within 24 hours. it came at the same time where the we were winding down, another other large fire in the area. so we had to flex some resources from that fire to this fire officials are asking people to stay out of the area.

it's not yet clear what started the fire. for more on the conditions that crews are facing, let's check in with cinthia pimentel this morning. good morning, laura and chris. the things that we look at when we have fires around the bay area around the country, we look at the current conditions. of course, the temperatures already off to a mild start there in the mid 60s, the humidity also at critical levels in those 30 percentages. and the winds right now are fairly calm. but if we take a look at this info box right there, those winds could gust anywhere upwards of 20 miles an hour later today. and they're going to be dealing with a hot day. temperatures in the 90s there. so definitely a situation worth continuing to watch as the day goes on back here for us in the bay area. we're also off to a mild start through san jose, dublin mostly clear. no patchy fog to deal with through the city. temperatures in the mid 50s. we're going to cool things down just a touch today. it won't be as warm as we dealt with yesterday with those triple digits, so i'll walk you through the full microclimate forecast.

but for now mike, you're seeing some flashing lights on the golden gate bridge. i was and there may be a few more traveling south, but the south tower was the site of a major bit of crew there, and a major closure just for a few minutes now. all clear again across. look at that sunlight coming up now instead of the flashing lights. the sunlight. but thank goodness cynthia's forecast sets me straight. only be worried about temperatures like yesterday. getting a little more of a break today. slowing though here. highway 37 coming toward 101. novato didn't report any activity, but i'm going to make sure there's nothing going on there. that would be an early sign for folks coming over from vallejo. overnight roadwork right here. see this little color change coming up through fremont? you're clear. by the time you get up toward mission. but on the approach, they may be clearing those crews because from mission up for the next section of roadway, there was an overnight crew there. they should be clearing any minute. back to you. all right. thank you. mike turning now to decision 2024 and the opening salvo of more of mayoral debates in san francisco for the very first time, all five candidates will debate to a sold out crowd

today in the bay's ginger conejero saab is in san francisco. ginger. a lot of people have been looking forward to this event. after one was canceled just a couple of weeks ago. that's right. good morning to you, chris. that debate was supposed to be the first of the season, but after some of the candidates backed out, that mayoral debate was canceled. which leads us to tonight. and what seems to be the hottest local political ticket in town. i think it represents a moment that we're in as a city where the elections here, she's upon us, folks are showing up and there's a lot of work to do. and so there's a sense of being woken up and of activity and of proximity right now to the election that i haven't felt in a while. that was manny. you could tell of manny zeff. he is one of the co-presenters of tonight's debate, along with new york times san francisco bureau chief heather knight, who will moderate the debate between incumbent mayor london breed,

daniel lurie, supervisor asha sapphire, a former san francisco mayor mark farrell, and supervisor aaron peskin. now, i'm told the format will include opening statements from each candidate, issue based questions and a lightning round before closing statements. and this debate will be significant. as you can imagine, as it is, the first debate of the season and can really set the tone for the candidates moving forward. now, tonight can help determine how those early polls will show and how the candidates are doing. we'll have more on where these candidates stand in the next hour. chris but definitely, you mentioned it in the very beginning. tickets to this mayoral debate were already sold out. hundreds are expected to also attend virtually. those tickets are still available if you go to city box office, but definitely a lot of eyes and ears. listening to tonight's debate, chris, i mean, a lot of us voters really feel like debates help us inform our decisions. so looking forward to it. thank you very much, ginger.

505 right now and new overnight, a new report says both israel and palestinian forces committed war crimes in the first several months of the conflict in gaza. today in the bay's alice barr joins us live from washington this morning to break down some of these findings. and israel's response this morning, alice, good morning, laura. both sides of the war in gaza are not exempt from these accusations. experts from the un backed human rights groups say that both israeli forces and palestinian militants engaged in sexual and gender based violence, in addition to those alleged war crimes. the independent experts say israel also committed crimes against humanity following the october 7th hamas attack. it says israeli forces forced starvation, committed murder or willful killings and engaged in intentional attacks on civilians . israel is rejecting all of the allegations as refusing to cooperate with the group and accusing it of bias. the report

also says hamas and other armed palestinian groups performed deliberate killings and mistreated civilians, and took hostages over that same time period at the end of last year. their findings come despite the palestinian group's denials that it committed sexual violence against israeli women. meanwhile hezbollah is taking responsibility for a massive barrage of rockets from lebanon into northern israel overnight. you're looking at video shared by the israeli foreign ministry on ex israeli defense forces say the launch included an estimated 160 missiles. and hezbollah says that the move was in retaliation for an israeli airstrike yesterday that killed a senior commander in that iran backed militant group. much going on. and alice, we understand there is some development when it comes to the us backed proposal pushing for that cease fire in gaza. and the white house is right now evaluating this

response that came from hamas, hamas, the foreign ministries of qatar and egypt who have been key mediators alongside the u.s. they say that hamas has now received this response and that mediators are studying it. hamas is seeking some changes to the proposal that's on the table and expressing doubt over whether israel would actually implement its terms, specifically, provisions for an eventual permanent end to the fighting and for israeli forces to fully withdraw from gaza in exchange for the release of hostages. now, while this response stops short of the outright acceptance that the biden administration is looking for, the fact that hamas still seems to be studying and engaging with the negotiations is certainly a hopeful step that keeps those negotiations going right. we will see where it goes from here. alice, so much to cover. thank you so much this morning. 508 right now all lanes are back open this morning along northbound 101 in the south bay

following a deadly crash involving several vehicles. it happened a little bit after 9:00 last night. the northbound lanes near cochrane road in morgan hill. the chp says a big rig, a pickup truck and a motorcycle were involved. it's unclear what led up to that crash happening today. a 101 year old soldier who helped to win world war two returns to the bay area. this follows mister jake larson's trip to normandy, where he got to visit landmarks, attend d-day ceremonies, and watch president joe biden speak. larson, who now lives in martinez, was in normandy with a group of more than 40 u.s. veterans who traveled with the best defense foundation during the war. he was responsible for helping to organize soldiers on omaha beach. his family and friends plan to greet him as he arrives at oakland airport later tonight. looks like he went on a private jet, too. that's nice in style, mister larson. all right, taking a live look at the golden gate bridge this morning. and, cynthia, we are so happy to see that there's a little breeze out

if you're a policy wonk because the fed will announce its decision on interest rates around 11 a.m. but the consumer price index comes out at 530. so if the cpi shows us something totally unexpected, the federal open market committee makes some changes in a hurry. now, honestly, i think the cpi will indicate inflation is slowing but not slowing enough and the fed will leave interest rates alone. but we'll see. speaking of money, the value of the peso has dropped 8% since claudia sheinbaum won the mexican presidency. she hasn't taken office yet, but analysts at bloomberg say the business community is worried she'll carry through with her predecessor's plan to change the way judges are selected from appointed to winners of a popular vote. even judges on the supreme court. really interesting forecast out of the us energy information administration. it predicts, thanks to record american production, the world will soon pump more oil than it needs a

surplus. opec is already factoring in cuts, but america is pumping at record amounts of oil. we learned back in march the united states produced more crude oil than any nation at any time in history. to borrow a phrase. we're drilling baby drilling redwood cities electronic arts says 49 year christian mccaffrey will be on the cover of its next version of madden football video game. the company says mccaffrey's video game persona, made 450 million touchdowns last year in the video game. in real life, he made 21, making him the offensive player of the year. now there is this talk about the madden curse. if you are on the cover of madden, josh allen last year was on the you know and he had a record number of interceptions. so yes. and you know my when i laugh at is this idea of a cover the cover of what. because you know now everything. yeah i mean i mean in your household are they all are little plastic boxes, thank goodness. anymore. not anymore.

out of one of the most popular competitions. we're talking about san jose native joey chestnut. out of it. out of the competition over some serious beef. five dogs are good. kind of. well, here's the story. nathan's holds a hot dog eating competition. you probably know about every 4th of july. joey chestnut is a six time winner. major league eating says the world champ can't take part in the annual contest because of a new deal that he signed with redwood city, based vegan meat maker impossible foods. nathan says chestnut can return when he's not representing a rival brand. in the meantime, impossible foods says the company supports joey chestnut in any competition he chooses as the rivals are going head to head. it's the fans that seem to miss out. it's like the superstar of the whole contest, so like if you lose him, that's a pretty big deal. this is a new day and a lot of people are moving toward plant based things. if they're paying him, that's fine. i don't have a problem with it. joey chestnut

is on a level playing ground here. we are waking up to chilly conditions up in the north bay down to the 40s now in petaluma, but mostly a clear start for everybody. temperatures in the mid 60s as you make your way into san jose and dublin. as we take a look throughout the day, we're going to see those mostly clear skies. it should be right there hugging the coastline as we go through about the mid-morning hours, maybe even some few sprinkles out there towards the santa cruz coastline. as we go throughout the day, we're going to be nice and clear and warm inland, not as hot. we're going to get some of our natural ac back here along the coastline, and that's where it should stay. our temperatures are going to come down about ten degrees. notice our high down here in san jose 82. we were in the 90s yesterday, and we're going to cool things down further along the immediate bay 60s and 70s. so overall, still short sleeve weather. but if you're heading out towards half moon bay, maybe bring another jacket as we go on into our further corners of the bay area, we'll do 87 in santa rosa and 86 in fairfield. so still toasty. and we're getting those barbecues and grills ready for our hot dogs as we go on and celebrate summer. as we take you

on and talk about the risk of fire danger, it's still going to be pretty elevated, even if the temperatures aren't as hot in those triple digits. we drop down into the teens in parts of clear lake, santa rosa, and out towards the corners of the bay area. our hillsides are dry, so still need you to be vigilant as we go through the next couple of days and speaking of the next couple of days, we're going to see some cooling here as we see some systems just passing through the bay area that are going to drop our temperatures further. so notice here in san francisco, we're going to drop things down as we go through the end of the week weekend should still be fairly nice. we're going to watch the winds on saturday and sunday, but then going into next week we should still stabilize in those 70s meantime, our inland valleys. goodbye heat advisory and hello to some more tranquil summer like weather as we go on into the 80s through the next couple of days. mike, you're taking a look from our fremont camera. what's going on? i saw some flashing lights and we had talked about construction crews slowing on the nimitz, but we're looking at no more flashing lights. it was, i think, a garbage truck making a pick up near the hotel just off the

right now. at 530, a week after flames destroyed a housing project in redwood city, families still feeling the impact. we're live with what investigators are now asking the public's help with. plus, a safe haven for transgender and nonconforming people. the new resolution unanimously passed in san francisco, and the support that it offers to the lgbtq plus community. this is today in the bay thanks for joining us on

this wednesday morning, i'm kris sanchez marcus washington is off, and i'm laura garcia. we start this morning with the latest on a fire that's burning in nevada. it started last night near reno. it's behind a high school in the city of sparks. firefighters are battling those flames. they continue to do that all night long. so far, the fire has burned 35 acres. but it is the second fire in this area within 24 hours. so officials are telling people there to stay out of the area. they're also investigating what caused that fire. very concerning with the dry conditions that we've been having. cinthia pimentel joins us now. what is it looking like there now? yeah, we're going deeper into fire season now. and the things that i'm looking at that we're paying close attention to out there in this area. sparks, nevada. current temperatures 64 degrees. so already off to a mild start. you can imagine just what the fire crews are dealing with with all of that gear humidity levels. also, at a critical standpoint, 42. we usually recover in the

overnight hours and not necessarily the case here. another factor there. notice this wind speeds are calm right now at around four miles an hour. but as we go throughout the day, we'll watch them gusts anywhere upwards of 20 plus temperatures in the highs today. 90s as we go on and continue to track this situation there, it will definitely be critical for fire crews back here in the bay area. we're going to cool things down for us. of course not. disregard the fire threat for us, even as the temperatures only read into the upper 80 santa rosa, concord and livermore. we still want to remain vigilant as we get those summer plans underway. we're starting our morning off in the 50s, but then we'll go into the 60s for san francisco and in san jose, dropping it down about ten degrees into those low 80s with further cooling. as we get ready for the weekend. we'll talk about that in just a second. but mike, we're looking at 101 in san jose. what's your concern? well, you know, first of all i want i was looking at where i said not so hot. so i'm glad. yeah san jose we're seeing the volume build. you know this northbound 101 coming over here.

you see the iconic cristo rey building over there. that's a church affiliated with that school just off of 87, or just off of 101. we see traffic flowing and the builds just now kicking in with that northbound direction. a little bit of slowing shows up on our sensors just north of there. you see it right above where we say san jose. typical pattern. the rest of the bay shows a nice easy drive. right now things are starting to build out of the altamont pass. no big surprise. highway for now. shows slowing coming into pittsburgh, out of antioch and at the top of the screen, highway. highway 37 does show some build as well. that will be out of mare island. i was concerned, but it was just focused slowing. it's spreading out. we'll check the bay bridge coming up. back to you all right. thank you very much, mike. this morning, a fire department on the peninsula asking for your help to try to determine the cause of a massive fire that destroyed most of a large affordable housing project out today in the bay's bob redell joins us live from the scene in redwood city. and, bob, what is it that the investigators are looking for from the public? well, chris and laura, the menlo park fire protection district are looking

for any photos or videos that you might have shot that might have captured the early stages of this large fire that you can see destroyed a huge chunk of this affordable housing project. this was that was under construction here on 2700 middlefield road in redwood city. the fire was reported around 1015 in the morning on june third, which was two mondays ago. a woman who lives next door to this housing project took this photo about 15 minutes after the photo. the fire started at 1032 and you can see it shows smoke coming out of the building. it's not clear if this photo will be helpful in the investigation. the man in the photo is the woman's husband, james smith, who used a hose to keep the fire from spreading to his neighborhood. he and his family have since evacuated the home because of the lingering smell of smoke. we haven't come back yet because my wife and son have asthma. they come in, their chest feels tight. it's like, all right, we're just going to have to wait until they clean the house. and

i had to go to the va hospital for smoke inhalation in, you know, on top of that, i was looking at the ring camera. it was kind of hard to watch because my wife was just in this panic. now, the menlo park firefighters association put a post on social media yesterday, again asking for the public's help with any photos or videos that show the building as the fire was starting or just after it started reporting live here in redwood city, bob redell today in the bay. all right. thank you for the latest there, bob. well, as early as today, closing arguments are expected to start in the state trial for the man who attacked nancy pelosi's husband, david depape, attacked paul pelosi inside their san francisco home back in 2022. and last month, depape was convicted in a federal case of assaulting a federal officials. family member also attempted kidnaping. he was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. now, depape is on trial for state charges. closing arguments could start either today or tomorrow.

san francisco is now a sanctuary city for transgender people. the board of supervisors approved the new resolution last night. supervisor rafael mandelman introduced the resolution, although it's mostly symbolic, it will help provide safety for members of the trans community and protect those providing gender affirming care. the resolution goes into effect immediately. it comes as some conservative states are limiting transgender rights. supervisor mandelman shared his message. for those who may be struggling in other states, we just wanted to send out a little beacon in this pride month, to folks in those places that, you know, there are there are people here who care about you, who see you and who will support you if you make your way here. san francisco is the third california city to make the declaration, behind west hollywood and sacramento. now to decision 2024 and the san francisco mayoral race tonight. all five candidates will take part in a debate. it starts at

630 at the sidney goldstein theater. manny's is partnering with city arts and lectures to host that debate. london breed, mark farrell, daniel lurie, aaron peskin and asha safai are taking part. now, the most recent polling shows mayor london breed leading in that race. however, a lot of voters say that they are still undecided, meaning a lot of things could change between now and november. now to a follow up, the san francisco board of supervisors, moving forward with a plan by the mayor to bring the famed chinese pandas to the san francisco zoo. the vote specifically gives the mayor permission to raise private funding to pay for the plan. the plan is expected to cost about $25 million. using private money to not only bring the pandas here, but to build a habitat for them as well. the next step for the mayor is to create a committee to start fundraising. how voters will get a chance to vote in november to reform a long time proposition over drug charges. proposition 47, passed

ten years ago, and it aimed to reduce jail populations by loosening the penalties around drug and theft crimes. critics say this has emboldened thieves. a bipartisan group called california for safer community colleen voted signatures in support of an amendment to reform prop 47. voters will now get a chance to vote on the reform in november, and if it passes, it would eliminate the $950,000 threshold for third theft or drug possession charges . it would also increase jail time for repeat thefts and organized retail theft. it is 538 taking a break from the day's news and taking a live look outside. hopefully over the south bay in san jose and three. and there we go one. there we go. much better than the prisoners out there. okay. are we prisoner to the heat? let's see if that will continue checking in with cynthia. yeah, we've gotten rid of the heat advisory from yesterday and things are going to start to

cool off. much more relief if you are not a fan of the hot temperatures. let's go up to santa rosa. yesterday we got to 97 degrees out there today. yesterday but today not so bad. we're starting off with that relief right now in the 50s. we'll slowly warm it up to about 72 degrees and mid morning hours. and then top off in those mid 80s as we go on into the afternoon. the rest of us are also going to see those temperatures coming down about 1015 degrees, still sunny and warm. so spectacular bay area weather as we get ready for the weekend and what's ahead. more relief from the heat. we're going to actually talk about possible changes that could be coming into the bay area as we look at a couple of rain systems to our north. yeah, those words are coming out of my mouth. and as we go on into the weekend, we could also be looking at potential for some really windy conditions. so we'll talk about all of that and more in just a few seconds. but back to you. thank. oh no. we're going to get some mike, we're doing a dance this morning. that's right. we're waking up wednesday

shaking it off the heat. and mike what's going on on the roadways. you know, things are starting to get over here, get a little more active, i should say, at the bay bridge toll plaza, folks doing the dance where we show the backup and then the rush to get on the bridge. the metering lights are clearly active, and the slowdown is right here in the middle lanes. pretty typical pattern here. so over here we have slowing for highway 37 disabled vehicle. but it's not on 780. it's just off of there. so i'll let you know if that's an issue for that part of the north bay. and this just popped up over here a crash near the caldecott tunnel. again these details not coming in a small roadside fire under the freeway. so we're going to check that to make sure everything's okay. moving for transit and the bay bay approach toward the oakland. and there may be a new crash over here. so oakland. so this all happened within the last 45 seconds as i made my way from the traffic center over to this map right here. so we'll continue to follow this mild builds so far. but again this may be a factor. now we're talking about the caldecott. before you get into the caldecott tonight they'll have the third night of that closure for the left. as folks

on this wednesday morning. we are planning our day out in pittsburgh. time to rise and shine. sunny skies out there today. slightly cooler emphasis on the slightly. you're still going to reach those 90s as we go through this afternoon, but a bit more relief as we go on and wind down towards the weekend. we'll talk about the cooler changes ahead coming up, quick changes at the bay bridge toll plaza. the backup quickly builds and fills past the overcrossing.

i think the metering lights may have suddenly been slowed down. there is indeed a crash reported around treasure island. blocking one lane will track progress to let you know whether or not you have to adapt your path. getting over into san francisco today will be an emotional day for many families in newtown, connecticut. the sandy hook shooting survivors will be graduating this year with mixed emotions and without 20 of their classmates. about 60 of the 330 kids graduating will be carrying the emotional burden that comes with having survived one of the deadliest shootings in u.s. history. 20 of their fellow first graders and six educators were killed at sandy hook elementary school on december 14th, 2012. the students say they hope moving on to the next chapter of their lives will give them an opportunity for a fresh start. going into graduation. we all have very mixed emotions trying to be excited for ourselves and this accomplishment that we've worked so hard for. but also those who aren't able to share it with us,

who should have been able to. the what ifs kind of spoil a lot of precious moments, you know, just because you always remember that they're not there. the victims will be honored during the graduation ceremony, but specific details have not yet been released. also today, 49 church bells will ring in orlando to honor those who were killed in the pulse nightclub shooting, which happened eight years ago. the 2016 shooting was the deadliest attack on the lgbtq community in the united states. there will also be a remembrance ceremony, which will honor all of the victims with prayer ribbons, which are now on display at orlando city hall plaza. and those ribbons will remain there until sunday. 546 right now, president joe biden spent the night in his family home in delaware with his son, hunter. hunter biden, of course, just found guilty of three federal felonies surrounding a gun that he purchased scott mcgrew. the president says he stands by his son. yeah. the

president has been very careful to stay out of the legal process, but has been equally adamant in his emotional love and support for his son, the president and first lady left the white house yesterday, returned to wilmington just hours after a jury found hunter biden guilty of three felony charges tied to briefly possessing a gun while he was addicted to drugs back in 2018 and lying about it on a form. ironically, his father had a speech about guns at nearly the very same moment. my predecessor told the nra convention recently he's proud. that, quote, i did nothing on guns when i was president and by doing nothing, he made the situation considerably worse. now here's the president greeting his son after the verdict. his daughter in law and granddaughter, nbc news talked to one of the jurors right after the verdict, who said politics had no place in the courtroom for us. it was not politically motivated. so, politics never played in anything that we said in the

jury room. and as we were deliberating, of course, we spent the first five days last week together and yesterday and today, and we were we were not allowed to talk about any of the case until the trial was over. now that juror, juror number ten also spoke about a possible sentence, though of course, that's up to the judge. honestly, i don't think putting hunter in jail is going to help. help any, i hope that i hope that hunter is clean and i hope he his sobriety is going well, and i hope it continues to go well. and, so, so therefore i you know, that's why i say, you know, jail is not going to help you. from wilmington, the

president will travel today to italy for the g7 conference. used to be the g8 eight until they kicked russia out. the us house could vote as soon as today to find attorney general merrick garland in contempt of congress. some republicans want garland to give them audio recordings of an interview of president biden conducted by the special counsel. while the justice department has already given those lawmakers a transcript of the same audio and says that's enough, the justice department says biden's critics haven't given them a good enough reason why they need the audio. if they already know what was said. there's a suspicion then they'll only use it for political purposes. now if the house does find garland in contempt, a criminal recommendation goes to the justice department, which garland runs. two other ags have been found in contempt in the past one a republican, one a democrat, and neither time did the justice department decide to prosecute them. laura. all right. thank you very much,

as you step out the door. pretty mild as we make our way through the east bay and south bay valleys in the 60s, some patchy fog to deal with out towards half moon bay cooler there and into novato and the north bay. waking up in the 50s. overall, not such a bad start to the day. gorgeous out there in novato. and if you do have plans to walk the dogs, walk yourself and you're not a fan of the warm temperatures. you really want to do it in before the mid-morning hours. as we go up into lunchtime, temperatures warming up into those 70s and we'll get a high of 81. in novato, we'll go over to our east bay, see 84 in concord, 82 down here in san jose, 60s and 70s bay shore. overall, a nice, beautiful day cooling down those temperatures. more of that relief coming in the form of our natural ac. of course, the wind and the overnight clouds that will get. but really the winds. we have to watch them as we go on into the peak of the heat. hours three four in the afternoon, where they could be gusting anywhere from about 20 to 25 miles an hour. our typical spots there

through concord, the delta, the altamont pass. so just be vigilant and if you see something, say something. you could help save us from some very dangerous fires, help save lives and those properties, of course. how about we take a look ahead at our long range forecast? we talked about maybe umbrellas. i'm looking at a couple of systems that are up to the north. how far south they'll push into the bay area. still a little bit of a wibble wobble here with our models, but overall we should be maintaining some relatively stable temperatures as we go on through the next couple of days. and we'll watch this big blob of green rain out towards the pacific, and how close it can come as we go on into next week's forecast. so i'll worry about that. you worry about the 7-day forecast through the city. should be nice and stable there, breezy throughout the day and we'll see some seven days and sunshine for the weekend. our inland valleys also dropping those temperatures about 5 to 10 degrees today. further cooling for our thursday plants. but then the weekend should be comfortable 80s over the next couple of days and into next week. mike, what's going on on the bay bridge? cynthia we had

that crash reported. now, crews apparently arrived at the crash on the bay bridge. as you approach treasure island, this backup continues at the toll plaza. there will not be a good amount of relief until they do clear that incident from this area. this is the big backup from the toll plaza all the way to treasure island. a crew, i'm told has arrived on scene. hopefully they can tow the vehicle away. no injuries are reported, but that is a critical place, of course. midspan westbound into san francisco. the rest of the build is just fine. disabled vehicle near the caldecott tunnel. get updates on the eastbound bore. number two. the rest of the bay moves very smoothly. back to you. thanks, mike. happening now san jose city leaders unanimously approved a new budget for the next fiscal year. the $5.3 billion plan includes a $23 million shift in funding. the money was originally allocated to build permanent affordable housing. those funds will now help to fund the building of more shelters. meanwhile, millions of dollars in affordable housing money is being redirected to help move unhoused individuals from san
