assange is now out of prison and heading home ahead. the deal reached and what comes next for him halted the all new speed bump and president biden's student loan relief plan and the direct impact it's having on borrowers. this is today in the bay. a good tuesday morning to you. i'm marcus washington and i'm ginger conejero saab. laura garcia is off this morning. and we're going to get a look at the roads with mike and just, just a quick moment, but then we're going to start off first with the forecast with meteorologist kari hall. it's tuesday, kerry, i was actually seeing some some rain on my way down here. so it's a little bit of a mixed bag of weather for us. but the good thing is that we're seeing rain and not a lot of lightning. that's what we were watching out for. there is a lightning strike that i'm seeing right now up around the rodeo area. as we get a look this morning, but we are watching that very closely for
5:02 am
that possibility that this lightning could possibly start some new fires. that's the concern this morning, a lot of humidity streaming in with that surge in moisture that we were watching yesterday evening. and that chance will continue as we go throughout today. our temperature are very warm as we're feeling this muggy air. this morning. we're in the low 90s for a high in morgan hill and low 80s for much of the south bay into the east bay. so we'll talk more about that coming up. mike, you are looking at a lot of green sensors, as you would imagine, right. everything's fine. peninsula south bay. we are looking at this stretch of the overnight closure. no delays reported. typical out of the altamont pass. also green scattered around. look at those patches. remember our road weather rather index shows where it might be damp on the roadways. and so that's what we're talking about. both actually all sides of the bay showing evidence of having had a little bit of sprinkle perhaps some mist and drizzle in many parts of the bay. just watch for that. it might be
5:03 am
unexpected for you, but it's out there so far as it plays out. for our view of golden gate bridge from sutro, look at that. you can see those low clouds on the deck. you're just fine. but some more low clouds rolling in. so just be prepared for that. back to you. thanks a lot, mike. well, illegal sideshows are becoming a serious issue across the bay area today. one east bay city is looking to put an end to the wild activity today in the bay's. bob redell joins us live from outside antioch city hall. and bob, leaders there are considering a new ordinance. correct. good morning to ginger and marcus. you know, the state of california already outlaws illegal sideshow activity. so the city of antioch is considering an ordinance that would add muscle to that. and it's something that the city council heard city hall in antioch has been considering since 2022. but for various reasons, they never could come to an agreement on the specifics of this new law. but that could change tonight when the city council members and mayor meet for their regular meeting and they vote on this. unlike many
5:04 am
cities in the bay area, antioch has struggled to shut down this dangerous, illegal activity that ends up shutting down intersections while drivers burn rubber and spin their cars at high speeds. this is video of a large sideshow that took place here in antioch, at the intersection of laurel road and kenyatta valley, just after the new year. the antioch boat launch has also been another popular destination for sideshows in the city. but earlier this year, the city added concrete barriers to prevent cars from entering that area from an adjacent parking lot. so tonight, the city council will consider two versions of a new ordinance, one that prohibits organized and advertising sideshows. the second version not only goes after the participants, but also the spectators. anyone watching within 200ft of the sideshow or street race. again, if approved, this ordinance would be adding more muscle to the state law, which already prohibits sideshow activity. now, this was the scene this weekend on the bay bridge where sideshow shut down the eastbound span for about 30 minutes. this was saturday night. chp says its helicopter
5:05 am
or they flew it over the crowd. people on the bridge were pointing lasers at the pilots, which is obviously very dangerous. chp did arrest a number of people on the bridge for alleged crimes, including dui, reckless driving and vehicle theft. reporting live here in antioch, bob redell today in the bay. really fascinating. bob thank you. well, to decision 2024 and the first presidential debate between president joe biden and donald trump. here is a look at where the debate is taking place this thursday in atlanta. cnn anchors jake tapper and dana dana bash will moderate. now, this will be the first of two scheduled debates. the second will happen in mid september. and make sure you join nbc news for special coverage and analysis beginning thursday at 6 p.m. pacific time. that's right here on nbc bay area. well, two federal court judges are blocking president biden's student relief or student debt
5:06 am
relief plan. loan debt relief plan. judges from missouri and kansas halted parts of the plan, and this comes after several states filed a joint lawsuit against the biden administration , saying it overstepped its authority when implementing the safe income driven repayment plan. now, the biden administration cannot cancel any more student debt or make provisions to the plan until the cases are fully litigated. to date, $5 billion in student loan debt has been canceled through the save program. well, new overnight the man behind one of the biggest leaks of american military secrets is being released from prison today in the bay's alice barr. joining us live from washington this morning with more on the deal. a free and wikileaks founder julian assange, alice, good morning. marcus assange is on his way back to his home country, australia, after spending five years in a u.k. prison. you may recall that he was he founded the website
5:07 am
wikileaks back in 2006. and four years later, the website released half a million secret documents ranging from u.s. military reports to confidential information on the wars in iraq and afghanistan. u.s. leaders issued an international arrest warrant for assange, and he was arrested in the u.k. in 2019. he spent the last five years in a london prison working to avoid extradition to america. throughout the saga, assange has remained a controversial figure. julian assange did the wrong thing. julian assange hurt the united states government. he put the lives of our troops in danger. he put the lives, particularly of iraqi citizens who had helped our, our effort in the war in iraq in danger. the x account for wikileaks posted this video of assange boarding a plane yesterday in london. he has reached a deal with the u.s. justice department to avoid more jail time. part of
5:08 am
the deal means he'll attend a hearing in a u.s. federal court on a u.s. controlled island north of guam. he is expected to plead guilty to one charge under the espionage act. experts say he will be handed a 62 month sentence but get credit for time served. all of that he has already served letting him walk free, a national security spokesperson says this was an independent deal brokered by the department of justice, and that the white house was not involved. marcus, it's just amazing how long this has gone on. i mean, i remember when we first heard the name julian assange. all right. alice barr in washington. alice, thank you. new this morning, a surprise announcement by the us surgeon general. he's declaring gun violence a public health crisis. doctor vivek murthy cites the rise in deaths due to firearms and growth in the number of mass shootings over the past decade. now, he also cites the impact on the larger population. this is the first time a surgeon general
5:09 am
has made this kind of a declaration, and his goal is to raise awareness and generate new congressional proposals to address the crisis. it is 508 for you this morning. look at this beautiful start to our morning on this tuesday. this is a live look from san jose. meteorologist kari hall has been monitoring what we can expect coming in this morning. most of us had some rain. yeah, we've seen the spotty showers moving through some spots. had it yesterday evening and we're getting this lift of this moisture in the mid levels of the atmosphere rolling across the bay area, giving us that interesting looking sky over the south bay. as we get a closer look. one lightning strike here. and that was the concern as the system approached. we are watching out for that possibility that the rain could evaporate before hitting the ground, but there still could be some lightning and we are looking at that still a possibility today with this amazing looking sunrise over walnut creek this morning, we sometimes get that too. when we get that mid level moisture coming in, and it gives us the such colorful hues as we're
5:10 am
waking up and heading out and we're looking at still a very warm and muggy day with a partly cloudy sky. we'll be watching out for those rain chances as well, so we'll talk more about that coming up. mike's been trying to find us some lower gas prices. yeah, i wish i had as beautiful a picture as you did there. but you know what? this is not bad. these prices all in the same range. the best. today we'll call out the best in cupertino for 15 at a great gas on north de anza boulevard in the north bay. that's the middle price. and it's the same price at vallejo's valero on sacramento street. that's the lowest in solano county, by the way. and contra costa county. let's look at pleasant hill. that's the bottom number here. best there is 419 at arco on pleasant hill road. you can check those areas or your specific city. look for gasbuddy .com. it breaks it down and it also fills in what you report on the roadways. we're not really reporting any problems right now . we have a smooth drive out of the altamont pass. chp advises it might be a little gusty, but nothing major here for west. 580 just starting to build the arrow shows you over the last week we
5:11 am
saw some slowing heading opposite your morning commute early. not today. so your travel times are great. here you go. the minimum we'll see for vasco out of contra costa county. back to you. all right. thanks, mike. you're seeing a lot of green there, mike. but the world's largest rainbow flag is set to return to the bay area ahead on today in the bay. when you can see the stunning laser art. and where do you suppose is the least affordable place to live in the united states? we'll tell you. coming up and the dessert subscription pass one restaurant chain is offering. yes, ginger, you heard me right. stick around for this because we've got the

5:14 am
we've seen some spotty showers across parts of the bay area. you can almost see it here coming from the clouds streaking down, but some of it is evaporating before hitting the ground. we'll have a chance of seeing more of this today, possibly some lightning and looking at temperatures in the city today, reaching into the mid 60s, we'll take a look at all of our microclimates and that chance of thunderstorms coming up. yeah. smooth drive where we're looking as well. here's the san mateo bridge. we look, we spotted this over here. the. where is it? right behind these. well, i'll point it out here on the trucks. right behind the trucks. there we go. the flashing lights. i was waiting for service lanes. okay, here i see some more flashing lights by the bay bridge toll plaza as well. we'll check on those
5:15 am
coming up. well good morning. very happy tuesday to you. shares in nvidia fell again. they're in a technical correction down 10% from their all time highs. nvidia has been the darling of the stock market for years. at one point last week becoming the most valuable publicly traded company in the world. now, with its stock down three straight days, it's lost about 500 billion in value. as one guy on the radio was pointing out on my way in. that's like the entire company, exxon just disappearing 500 billion. another recall for cybertruck. this time to fix two problems a windshield wiper that doesn't work properly, and a loose trim in the truck bed that could detach. tesla had to recall cybertrucks before because of an accelerator pedal that was improperly installed and could get stuck. about 11,000 cybertrucks are affected by this new recall. the astronauts flying the boeing starliner were supposed to return to earth tomorrow, but
5:16 am
nasa has once again delayed their return over concerns about the spacecraft. the physical capsule is fine, but the service module attached to it has trouble with its thrusters and a helium leak. now they're going to jettison that in space, so the delay is less about safety, more about getting time to examine the service module back here on earth. san jose, the least affordable place to live in the entire united states, according to chapman university study, four of the top ten on the list are in california, la and san francisco in that top ten. as for, well, who's more expensive than san jose? it's hong kong at the top, followed by sydney, australia, vancouver, hoover, then silicon valley and los angeles. pittsburgh, the one in pennsylvania, topped the list of most affordable and regionally the most affordable regions are the midwest and the mountain west and paramount. the latest streaming service to hike prices up to 13 bucks a month,
5:17 am
takes effect in august. peacock discovery max have all raised prices as well. i absolutely need to go over everything i have because i don't even know what i have or how often i watch them and figure out who's going to get dropped. you know, you watch the olympics, you know, not everybody's going to make it. yeah in this case, not everybody's going to make it to the next month. up my bill. who's going to get that bronze, silver and gold. exactly. on scott's. but but that's true because sometimes even when you purchase, you know, like a movie or you want to see what your options are. yes, some streaming services have it free if you sign up and then you have to pay anyways. so yeah, long list, long list. they have the day you're going to pay or someone won't get paid cause you're gonna drop them. thanks, scott. you bet. well, a massive rainbow flag is going up all to kick off pride weekend. illuminate is a nonprofit behind the bay bridge lights that many of you may be familiar with, but it's now hosting a summer of or glazer series, which includes a massive
5:18 am
four mile rainbow flag. now, the lasers turned on this friday on market street in san francisco for the summer of all kickoff. the lighting ceremony will include live music and a renewal of vows for some couples. mayor london breed and governor gavin newsom are also set to speak at the event. well, summer is here, but demand for swimming pools isn't so hot. pool core this is the world's largest wholesale distributor of pool and backyard products, is slashing its profit outlook for this year. the company says there actually is a low demand on new construction. the peak for a pool sales happens just before summer month, so it's actually wrapping up right now. it seems other costly items are outweighing the need to spend on leisure items. and walmart, as we were just talking about those subscriptions. as scott mentioned, subscriptions aren't anything new and they are. there are hundreds to choose from when it comes to streaming. yeah, but i bet you've never heard of this one before. bj's restaurant and brewhouse is now introducing its
5:19 am
pizookie pass. i wonder if that'll make it to scott's list. it might. okay, so it's now available for 4.99 a month. this is for four months. you can enjoy a cookie a day, but the pass is limited. online enrollment begins thursday through july 3rd. after that, you can enroll in person if there are any passes remaining, you can actually use this pass for dine in. are we not going to say what pizookie is? what? it's what they showed on the screen? yeah. pizza hut, it's a well, no , it's a dirt. it is. no no no no, it's not just for dessert. you can have that for dinner when you're 20. yeah, yeah. producers try that. now who's 23. it's a big cookie with a couple scoops of ice cream on it. i don't know, i feel like i had my fair share. i think i've had one of those before. don't they have the white chocolate chip one there? yes. oh, wait. i only had a chocolate chip when i feel like, oh, maybe i did deep, i know well maybe. yeah. no
5:20 am
that's it. yeah, that's the one. i've had that one before. well done. control room. wow yeah. they're good. well think about it for 4.99. if you're in college age and may be limited but that's not bad. yeah. when you're in college. yeah one a month is about all i can do at this point or should do. does it come with a free gym membership? i don't know. anyways. okay, that's cut. all right. well, let's get started this morning. beautiful sunrise. it's been so nice to see this over the past few days. we're also getting a surge in moisture where people are like, what is this wet stuff falling from the sky? this is rain. it's been a while, but introducing showers this morning as we take a look at the radar. also what i don't want to see is lightning and we are getting that in some spots close to vacaville this morning and just to the north and east of napa. so this is the concern with this system that's been coming in, the possibility that even though
5:21 am
we are getting some rain, it's not enough. if we do get lightning strikes hitting some dry vegetation, that could start some fires around here. and we're still looking at a lot of clouds that surge and moisture coming in in the middle levels of the atmosphere. it's up high enough to where a lot of the rain falls. it hits a bank of some drier air underneath, and that rain evaporates. but it's been enough for some of that rain to make it to the ground. and that's going to be what we watch out for today. even though we'll see a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures back in the 80s again today. so not only are we getting a little bit of some rain, but we're also getting some hot temperatures. we're up to 92 in morgan hill and in santa rosa. we'll be in the low 80s these next couple of days. it will be slightly lower as we head toward the end of the weekend to the weekend, but we are going to also see those temperatures in the mid 80s through the forecast throughout much of the week into the weekend, while san francisco staying in the 60s into next
5:22 am
week. mike, you found something going on at the bay bridge. did carry over here. there you go. coming off the 880 overcrossing we still have some flashing lights or there's some lights there. we're flashing a second ago. looks like maybe freeway service patrol and it's out of lanes. but it is an issue for folks coming off the 880 overcrossing joining you with a smooth, easy drive at the bay bridge. nice, easy drive most places and a little slowing out of vallejo. typical that green highlighting the mist, the drizzle, perhaps on the roadways that kari was talking about, but everything as far as those sensors go also green back to you. thanks a lot, mike. well, fighting for change to race in a chance, i should say, to race in paris. so next here on today in the bay. the shocking win. a upset for olympinc

akins came away with the victory. yeah, it's just i'm speechless. while a thing mo was left in tears. but out wide, quincy hall. here he comes. high drama in the final moments of the men's 400, it's quincy hall to the line. he ran a personal best to edge pre-race favored michael norman and earn his first olympic trip. guided by a simple thought. you know, i'm saying that's all i'm telling myself before i run to get home, son. hall, norman and third place finisher chris bailey all had to paris, 16 year old phenom quincy wilson wound up finishing sixth. this shoulder to shoulder, an epic battle on the women's 5000 as ellie saint-pierre prevailed by two hundredths of a second over elise cranny for the win and a trials record. they'll both cross the pond. i just dug a little a little deeper at the end there, and january knee surgery had anna hall doubting her chances for paris, but she pulled away in the final event of the two day heptathlon and
5:27 am
she's now on her way. the journey to get here has been so much harder than i ever imagined, and i'm just so thankful that we finally made it a night of celebration and sorrow at the olympic trials. mark barger, nbc news. nbc bay area will bring you exclusive coverage of the paris olympic games, and it begins with the opening ceremony on july 26th. our next top stories we're following this morning, including. will voters get the final say? well, the key decision expected today on a proposal for a new city near travis air force base. plus honoring number 24. he leaves us with a lasting reminder to work hard and find joy in this great game and this extraordinary life , late baseball legend willie mays. we'll be right back

home. the reason she says she's the victim. plus, on high alert, the increase of shigella cases in the south bay. the growing concerns and advice from local doctors this is today in the bay and good tuesday morning to you all. i'm ginger conejero saab. laura garcia is off today and i'm marcus washington. let's get you started with that forecast this morning. meteorologist kari hall is tracking some rain in our area. how is that looking for us? it's been a pretty wild to see as we are starting out this morning with this mid-level moisture that did materialize into some spotty showers, but also some lightning in a few spots. we're watching out for that possibility as still more rain comes in across the region, and as we get a closer look, we can see the wave of showers now coming through the north bay and the lightning strikes around vacaville. this rain is not going to be enough if the lightning strikes, make it to the ground and strike some dry
5:32 am
vegetation. we're watching out for the concern of new fire starts, but take a look at what that humidity is doing to our sunrise. walnut creek looks amazing this morning we'll be watching out for that. mike, you were looking at the san mateo bridge for different reason. not quite similar colors, i guess we have over here flashing lights, folks. we'll take this to full. and there you see, over on the right side, a person in the service area. and the flashing lights probably mean a disabled vehicle there. no assistance has arrived, but no slowing as a result. just some folks getting on the build with west 92. so we'll track that so far over on the hayward side as well. actually heading down in toward union city out of hayward. another minor fender bender there should be off the roadway, but we're tracking that as you head down and past whipple and toward a union city again for southbound on the nimitz, everything's moving smoothly for those green sensors, but we also have those little showers scattered around, so watch for damp pavement. back to you. thanks a lot, mike. well, in just a few hours, san francisco unified will discuss the future of its schools. and in the
5:33 am
coming years, there could be fewer schools altogether. today, in the bay's kris sanchez joins us with the emotional conversation that's expected. kris ginger, you have school aged kids and it is really tough when you are attached to your school and things change like that. a lot of districts are facing the same issue, which is declining enrollment, and fewer students mean fewer dollars dollars to keep those schools open. let's start there. san francisco unified has 4000 fewer students since the 2017 2018 school year. so about six years ago, san francisco unified projects, it will have 4300 fewer students by the year 2032. that's the reason for what the district is calling its resource alignment initiative out today. the superintendent will update the board and the public on the conversations that they've had and discuss the criteria for determining which schools are most viable, and then they will weigh or what weight each criteria should have. here is
5:34 am
some of what they will consider under the equity category access to schools and programs and the school's historical challenge. they'll also consider academic performance. each school's culture and climate, and the student's socio emotional development. and schools will be graded on how well they use the resources that they get. how many families choose to send their children to those schools, and how satisfied the teachers are there now. a third party will also weigh in on what criteria should have the most weight, and they'll discuss that. they'll make their recommendations, but this is on top of some of the budget that they'll be discussing tonight as well. well, i know san francisco unified schools, it's actually facing some budget challenges as well. right. so they they have about a $148 million shortfall for the next school year. that is kind of separate from the school enrollment issue. but they also have had that problem with the payroll system where teachers were not getting their paychecks on time, which is
5:35 am
financially devastating for some people, so i'll remind you that the school board meetings, they are public. they are your elected officials. that meeting is happening tonight. yeah you can imagine you mentioned, you know, once you become part of a community and you become ingrained kind of in that system , you make your choice to go to school based on so many things. well, what happens in the classroom is just one part of it. then there's the whole school culture as well. yeah. all right. thanks so much, chris. welcome well, a stunning development hours just after oakland mayor sheng thao broke her silence yesterday, her lawyer announces he's withdrawing from her case. her now former lawyer, tony brass, has not released his reason for withdrawing, keeping his announcement brief, saying he is no longer representing the mayor. now this is the latest development after fbi agents searched the mayor's home and three other local oakland locations rather last thursday. now, the mayor maintains her innocence, saying she has not
5:36 am
done anything wrong. in a statement, the mayor says, quote, i appreciate tony brass for providing me with initial legal guidance. he helped me better understand the investigation and my legal options. over the weekend, i obtained new legal counsel and thanked mr. brass for his counsel. i will share the name of my new counsel once agreements are finalized. now, as far as fbi search is concerned, we spoke to a former federal prosecutor and criminal justice lecturer at san jose state university who says while it's unclear what crimes were committed in this case, sometimes there's a sense that evidence may be destroyed and so therefore it's urgent that then, a search warrant be sought with the approval of the magistrate judge establishing probable cause. and i want to be crystal clear. i have done nothing wrong. i can tell you with confidence that this investigation is not about me. and as far as next steps in the
5:37 am
case, singh believes it could be a while before we get details on the full scope of this investigation. 536 in a very contagious disease is infecting more people in the south bay. the shigella outbreak is getting worse. last week, santa clara county officials confirming three people have contracted the disease. that number has risen to nine confirmed cases, with another 21 people suspected. some of those cases are happening along encampments on the guadalupe river. this is near highway 89. officials are reminding people do not swim in the river or drink the water. also, it is important to watch out for a few symptoms. some of the symptoms are nausea, vomiting, watery diarrhea. but probably the most alarming symptom that might bring somebody to the hospital, is bloody diarrhea. now, the county is providing clean water and hygiene kits for people living in those encampments along the

river. now to a live look at the state capitol. and today, governor gavin newsom is set to deliver his state of the state address. now, this is happening at a crucial time. it's happening just a few days after he and state lawmakers reached a new budget deal. the deal outlines huge cuts to affordable housing and the prison system. now, we're expecting more details in the governor's speech today. now, just last night, governor newsom announced a huge move for his family. he says he's leaving sacramento. he and his family will now split time between the state capitol and marin county. the governor's press secretary says the family wants to create continuity in their children's education as the governor's term ends in january 2027. happening today what may be a big day in an effort to build a new city from scratch in solano county, supervisors expected to hear from the registrar of voters about the likely fall ballot measure. the petition has already qualified with enough signatures. the group california forever, wants voters to weigh
5:39 am
in on their plan to build on that land near travis air force base. the measure would rezone for more than 17,000 acres to allow for the development. the group leaders yesterday announced a new partnership to boost health care in solano county. now make sure you watch today in the bay's streaming newscasts at 8:00 this morning, we're actually going to talk one on one with the group's founder and ceo. again, that's in our streaming newscast, which you can watch on roku, pluto and other streaming platforms. you can also check it out online at nbcbayarea.com or through our app. now, an absolute legendary giant remembered at oracle park. join us in observing a moment of silence for the ultimate forever giant. number 24 willie mays. now, last night, the giants played their first home game since the death of hall of famer willie mays. during a pregame tribute, giants broadcasters welcomed his friends and family,
5:40 am
including willie mays son michael mays and mays godson barry bonds. now, lots of fans called the night something they did not want to miss. i can remember being at candlestick park out in the bleachers, trying to get in the scrum for a home run ball from willie. it was it was madness. tell me how when willie mays played all of the ladies used to sit in the house and sit around the tv and the world stopped when baseball came on. now every giants player wore number 24 to honor the say hey, kid. the team is planning a huge public farewell with a date announced in the coming days. now on the field, some good news . the giants broke a five game losing streak walking off with a 5 to 4 win over the cubs. you called it to. you said yesterday, i know i'm gonna win. there you go. let's go. giants it's time. all right. good morning. fossil city taking a live look out there this morning. beautiful start to our day. meteorologist kari hall is
5:41 am
tracking what we can expect weather wise. i know we've had some warm days. we had some crazy rain yesterday in san jose and then some rain this morning. yeah, so we're seeing another wave of that coming through parts of the bay area. as you're getting up and heading out, we are going to have that possibility of not only some spotty showers, but also some lightning, which may be of high concern due to the high fire danger that lightning produces. but we are definitely milder this morning as you're getting up and heading out in foster city. will be in the mid 60s through 10:00, and then we'll see our temperatures headed for the upper 60s and low 70s. it's going to be another hot day, but when you add in the humidity, it's going to feel much warmer. so martinez we'll see a high of 8566 in san francisco and 83 in san jose. we'll get a look ahead to some slightly lower temperatures coming up. but mike, you're seeing more congestion showing up. yeah, pretty much where we typically predict the slowing for highway 37. but that's combined with the highlighted green here. we haven't seen it for a while. but carrie's reminding us that we do have some light showers here.
5:42 am
and so that may be a factor for some of the drivers. we do have highway four showing more slowing coming into pittsburg and bay point there. not a problem for the walnut creek interchange. and then the bay bridge should start to see some backup at the toll plaza. this is about the time metering lights would be activated, and even more reason is the slower drive approaching a crash off of the bay bridge westbound 80 near the fifth street exit. that exit is open, but there may be activity on the exit or very close to it, distracting folks as they make their approach into the city. now along with that crash, we'll warn you about what's going on later on in the city. just a note that this evening there's another as the giants game here, not as giants game playing over at oracle park. and they will have a series of games through thursday this week. so keep that in mind as you're heading into and around the area around oracle. the rest of the bay does move very smoothly, but sudden slowing at the castro valley. y has to be concerned. we'll check on that. back to you. thanks mike. maybe the giants were watching yesterday morning. yeah. they said we got to do this for ginger. just one of the reasons. all right. 542 for you this morning a mid ride scare

head here on today in the bay. the reason the giant dipper at santa cruz beach boardwalk is temporarily stopped. we're just a couple of days away from the presidential debate among the topics abortion, the border, and new information about the national debt, plus. well, prince is one of the new honorees selected to receive the iconic star on hollywood's walk of fame. you don't have to be beautiful ahead of the break. ahead in the break, we're going to break down some other of the top recipients and the band with bay area roots. i'm getting lost in the music already. keep it here. you're watching today in the bay. are was that prince or marcus

wow. i mean, huge stars. they're right. huge stars. well, we're going to watch out for that walk of fame and maybe a very nice unveiling. i feel like the sun is always out in southern california for that stuff. tony. well, this rain came from southern california, so they had some said it never rains in california bay area this time of year. you know, every now and then we get a little subtropical moisture surging up, coming from all of the remnants of tropical systems. and so we're getting that waving through the bay area this morning, bringing a little bit of rain. the main concern here, if there's any lightning strikes in some of these thunderstorms. we saw a couple near vacaville that has since moved to the north. we're not seeing any lightning, but still a little bit of rain. so what happens with these types of systems? we get rain that in a typical system the air is moist enough all the way down where that rain falls down to the surface. but in this type of weather setup that we have, you get rain, but then there's a

layer of dry air and a lot of that rain evaporates before hitting the ground. there may be enough of that moisture to let some of those droplets fall, but most of it is evaporating, and we can almost see that if you see the clouds and the streaks coming out of that, that's the rain that's evaporating as it hits that dry air defense bailey lower clouds at the golden gate bridge this morning. seeing the fog. but we're also going to still see that wide range in temperatures thanks to the coastal fog. the clouds up ahead above. and then we're also seeing some high humidity. we're ranging from 64 and half moon bay today for a high temperature to 77 in hayward, 85 in dublin. and we're still in the 90s in fairfield, 92 today in morgan hill. and then into the day tomorrow, temperatures coming down, a few more degrees with mostly upper 70s for the inner bay into the east bay and even cooler on thursday. so that's the trend for us as we go throughout the week. once we shake this humidity, it's going to feel so much better by the
