sanchez. laura garcia is off. we want to get you started with a look at the forecast with meteorologist kari hall. and kari felt mild this morning, but of course, the sun is not up yet, and it's starting out at 60 degrees in san jose. it is a little bit milder there, but compare that to the 48 we have in san rafael as you're getting up and heading out. a chilly start there as our temperatures will reach into the mid 80s for novato and napa today, 83 degrees and low 80s for the south bay. just a touch warmer than it was yesterday. and we'll talk about that warming trend in our forecast as we go into the next few days with livermore is high today, up to 89 degrees. back to you. all right. thanks so much, kari. well, now to decision 2024. and sparks flew at the first presidential debate of the 2024 campaign season. president biden and former president trump sparred over topics from immigration to abortion. all key issues in this race. but the question is, did either side sway any undecided voters today in the bay's alice

barr joins us live from washington with a recap and lots of reaction. good morning alice. good morning chris. and marcus. well, the overriding theme this morning does seem to be president biden's performance. his task was to go in last night and to dispel voter concerns about his age, vitality, sharpness and even close allies are acknowledging he didn't do that, while at the same time, former president trump really leaned into grievances and false claims. right now, in addition to that, with the stakes sky high, president biden delivering an uneven performance that left many allies concerned with muted mikes former president trump appeared more measured than in past debates, but frequently made false claims. every single thing he said is a lie. you're destroying our country. the former president slamming mr. biden over the economy. he's done a poor job and inflation is killing our country. the president, pointing to gains from what he inherited when he

obvious that we have to be voting for joe biden. he was the first five minutes, and the thing that i was concerned about was that the president, president trump, might be too aggressive, you know, and too caustic. and he wasn't he's been reserved. he hasn't taken the bait. now the candidates obviously trying to appeal to undecided voters, they make up 25% of the electorate. for more analysis of the debate, you can go to nbcbayarea.com and click on the link in the trending bar. or you can scan the qr code here on your screen to download our free nbc bay area app. it's a great resource, especially as we near the november election and we know there are local issues we're talking about there as well. 505 right now and in a matter of hours, oakland city council could approve $63 million in cuts to its budget. and there is a lot on the line for a city that's already embroiled in turmoil today in the bay's bob redell joins us live and bob, these cuts could have a really big impact on the
