perform is not run for re-election. he did not shy away from his poor debate performance. >> i don't walk as easily as i used to. i don't debate as well as i used to, but i know what i do know -- i know how to tell the truth. >> now, some biden supporters, including former president obama argued one bad debate doesn't define the race. the new york times did not endorse former president trump either. the board would pick biden over trump, laura. >> there has been so much fallout since thursday. many are talking about him not being on the ticket. we are not saying that is happening. we are not saying we're there yet, but people are talking about it. walk us through what it would look like at the convention? >> the question would be asked and it would be complicated and chaotic process to go through if

president biden backed out and released delegates and anybody who wants the job can lobby the open votes. the job would not fall immediately to his vp kamala harris. if he did not step aside, in theory, delegates could revolve en masse and nominate somebody else at the roll call in august. >> so many questions and we have not seen anything like this since the 1950s. >> it's wild. >> thank you for being here in person. let's go to former president trump taking a victory lap after his debate with speculation over his running mate. we have ali vitali with more. ali, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. he wasted no time crowing with his supporters about the debate in front of the very large crowd here in virginia.

he called president biden's competence into question and talking about the falsehoods. while biden is dealing with the divide, trump showcased a party behind him, including glenn youngkin who appeared for the first time yesterday. he is not among the finalists in the ongoing audition for his running mate. that is our understanding right now. that title goes to marco rubio and j.d. vance. despite signals this veep pick could have come as early as this week, now the trump campaign is keen to let the debate news cycle ride for president biden while they are unlikely to be announcing their vp pick this week because of the holiday. reality is it can come today and between the republican election

two weeks. >> ali vitali, thank you so much. now to the u.s. supreme court where on monday we will get the long awaited answer on whether the former president is immune from any prosecution. on friday, the supreme court limited who can be charged under the federal law of 200 people who stormed the capitol on january 6th. that opens the door to the resentencing or the trials for people still behind bars, but former president trump's case is unlikely to be impacted by the ruling. in another case, the supreme court rejected the appeal from steve bannon who must report to prison by monday. he was convicted in 2022 for devying subpoenas to the january 6th committee. bannon's lawyer said he was waiting for issues of executive privilege to be settled.

turning to weather now. a lot of folks are getting the start of the fourth of july holiday with 770 million people expecting to fly or drive. storms from the ohio valley to the northeast, your plans could be impacted, sadly. let's bring in our expert, angie lassman for the weekend weather. >> good morning, good morning. there are a couple of trouble spots and i know a couple of people will hit the skies and roads. here is what is happening right now. satellite-radar is showing rain across michigan and missouri and the interior northeast dealing with rain. out west, we are quiet with you are traveling from san francisco to los angeles. i think you are fine in those airports. these spots today is where we are watching. denver could see thunderstorms that may delay you. we will see st. louis, atlanta and potentially orlando and miami dealing with afternoon thunderstorms. the second half of the day is trouble spots for possible

tells us it happened around 230 yesterday afternoon on southbound 238. that's in the area of hayward, near east 11th street. officers tell us they found one victim who fortunately was not hurt. in san jose, the newest water park will not be opening today. after all, kali bunga says electrical problems have delayed its opening until the 4th of july. the popular south bay destination, formerly known as raging waters, closed unexpectedly at the end of last summer, announcing it was not renewing its lease because of low turnout. the park will soon reopen under new management. the pacifica pier will now stay partially closed indefinitely. following that series of severe storms and high tides, city officials tell us. visitors to the main pier will lose an additional 100ft of access back in december, large waves damaged sections of the pier's foundation and railing. the city's public works engineering

that louisiana legally required the classrooms to display the ten commandments. now oklahoma is the first state we heard of to require schools and classrooms not only have the bible in classrooms, but teach from them. a new state requirement in oklahoma means when students return to school in the fall, they'll have a bible in the classroom. that's what state superintendent ryan walters promised in the memo to oklahoma state schools. effective immediately, all districts must comply. >> every teacher and every classroom in the state will have a bible in the classroom and will be teaching from the bible. >> reporter: reaction has been swift. >> i wanted to be able to come here and thank superintendent walters. >> reporter: while support for the move has been loud, so, too, is the backlash. americans united for separation for church and state are looking at options. this is textbook christian nationalism. >> is there any attention to
