and next day delivery at airport home appliance. join nbc bay area and telemundo 48 at san jose's music in the park, featuring five summer concerts. to get tickets and learn more, visit nbcbayarea.com. right now at 6:00 bay area, get ready for the heat. we're tracking triple digit temperatures for this week. the warning pg&e is giving some customers about possible power shutoffs. supreme court showdown does former president trump have immunity from criminal prosecution? the monumental decision expected in just about an hour. we're live in washington with what's at stake and the impact this could have on the 2024 election and california out with several new laws starting today, from restaurant menus to rental deposits and your personal phone, we're breaking down everything you need to know. this is today in the bay. first
6:01 am
day of july hits on a monday morning, 6:00 right now. thanks for starting your day with us. i'm laura garcia and i'm kris sanchez. i'm in for marcus washington today. we want to get you a live look outside over dublin this morning. and it's already looking toasty out there. the weekend seemed hot. get ready because we are expecting even higher temperatures on the horizon. some places will hit triple digits this week with an excessive heat warning on the way, and you might not be able to count on your fans or your air conditioners to stay cool, because pg&e is warning that the heat could trigger public safety power shut offs as psps in more than a half dozen counties, including napa and solano, you might remember that those psps happen when high winds and dry conditions increase the risk of fire. the utility does expect only a handful of customers in those counties to be impacted. but we were saying if it's one
6:02 am
customer and that's you, it doesn't matter how many customers you want to run, that air conditioning, you're going to want to in some places. i mean, we're talking triple digits. yeah and over 110 degrees in a few spots. so it's going to be very extreme and not just for a day or two, but lasting for several days. these are the counties that will be impacted by that public safety power shut off as we get a look at some of those areas, not the entire county, but communities in those counties will be impacted. and we're also looking at a high fire danger as we are going to see the increased risk of any fires that do get started to spread very quickly as we're getting a northwesterly wind at about 15 to 30mph and critically low humidity over the next few days. as we take a look at that fire danger and the relative humidity, which starts out high in the morning as we go into the afternoon today, you can see for the valleys. it drops into the teens and 20s, which is very
6:03 am
dry, but gets even drier tomorrow. even though we start out pretty mild, we are going to see extremely dry air for tomorrow afternoon where the relative humidity may be as low as 5. in parts of the north bay, that means there is almost no moisture in the air whatsoever. and mike, you were looking at a little bit lighter traffic at the bay bridge. and that's because as scott was talking about, there are companies around the bay that give the entire week off. and so we will have probably a lighter commute all week. we have some vacation traffic though, so watch midday and early afternoon to really see crosstown traffic. we are looking at high temperatures. so folks, i hope you have ac in your car right now. there's just some slowing for highway four. that's the biggest stretch of slowing contra costa county out of bay point and into out of pittsburg and all the way into concord. so we're watching that. the crash over in oakland off of 580 near maynard, the onramp from maynard that is affecting the onramp, only the freeway itself moves smoothly. a little bit of slowing showed up on 101, but things are already starting to clear from that first
6:04 am
slowdown. so there we go through san jose. back to you. thank you mike. 603 this morning, north korea test fired two ballistic missiles. that is according to the south korean military. this is one day after north korea threatened an overwhelming response to recent u.s. military drills with south korea and japan. military sources say one of the missiles failed and landed inside north korea. the other landed in the sea of japan . just five days ago, north korea tested a multi-warhead rocket designed to penetrate missile defenses. well, we are nearing the end of the supreme court's current term. this is a live look at the high court's building in washington, d.c. this morning. several key rulings hang in the balance with major decisions expected, and that includes the highly anticipated ruling on whether former president donald trump, as a former president, should be immune from prosecution when it comes to its federal election interference case. today in the bay brie jackson joins us live in washington this morning.
6:05 am
brie, this is a decision, really, that both sides, a lot of people waiting for. that's right. good morning. so at issue in this case, whether former president trump can claim immunity from prosecution for at least some of his actions in seeking to overturn the 2020 election, trump faces a four count indictment for his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, which culminated in the january 6th insurrection on capitol hill. lower courts rejected trump's claim of broad immunity, prompting his legal team to appeal the case to the supreme court. even before the decision, the high court is facing criticism from the left for agreeing to hear the arguments in the first place. the move prevented a trial from taking place in march, making it difficult if not impossible, for a trial to begin before the november election. even if the supreme court rejects all of trump's immunity arguments and says a trial can take place, it would likely not begin until september at the earliest. if a
6:06 am
majority of the justices side with the former president. the charges will then be dismissed. now, based on oral arguments, it appears likely that the court will conclude that there could be some conduct alleged in the indictment. that is subject to immunity. the justices could set a new a new test for determining what official acts fall under that category. and it could then send it back to lower courts to determine how that affects trump's indictment, which would delay a trial. even more rulings are expected to be released at seven this morning, so we will be watching. most certainly. thank you. brie for all the latest. there well, as of about five hours ago, a slate of new california laws took effect, which means all sorts of changes , including a ban on junk fees. this will mostly affect you when you book a hotel room or buy concert tickets. but in a late twist, restaurants will be
6:07 am
spared the worst of the ban. a last minute deal by lawmakers allows restaurants to keep those fees provided that they. the added charges are clearly disclosed. one diner says he doesn't expect to see much difference. i've gotten used to the fees being there, so at least it'll be apparent before i order what i'm actually ordering, kind of what the total is going to be now. some restaurants across the state have struggled to remain open, which is why lawmakers introduced that last minute legislation. the goal is to provide more menu transparency without further harming the industry. and that's just one of the laws taking effect today. another is the so-called no roofies law. many bars and nightclubs now have to provide date rape testing kits for patrons. those businesses will also be required to post signage informing customers that those kits are available, and a new law takes effect today, benefiting new renters. any new rental contract can now only
6:08 am
require one month's security deposit. already existing rental agreements with larger deposits won't be affected. landlords still may ask for additional fees at the end of a lease period, provided that the damage exceeds one month's rent, and a new law makes it easier for people who need to repair their devices. the right to repair law now requires manufacturers to provide customers or repair shops with the parts, the tools, the instructions needed to service or repair an electronic device. the law applies to any cell phone costing more than $50, along with home appliances, tvs, video recording equipment and such. 608 developing now a major hurricane is closing in on the caribbean. hurricane beryl is currently a category four storm. this new video posted on x from barbados capturing the rain. you can see some of the wind there as well. blowing the trees. the center of the
6:09 am
hurricane is set to make landfall this morning on the windward islands with up to six inches of rain expected. meteorologist kari hall has been tracking the timeline, really, of this powerful storm could actually have a big impact. so many people are traveling this week. yeah, and you know, this is the week where we do see that increased travel to the caribbean. and we're dealing with this major hurricane the earliest. it's formed in this region for hurricane season in parts of the atlantic. and so we're going to see this moving closer to those caribbean islands, just to the south of the dominican republic and haiti over the next few days. and it is moving very quickly, and it is expected to weaken just a little bit as it moves over some slightly cooler water. but right now it's in a pool of some extremely warm water. and that's the reason why we saw it strengthen beyond the forecast. and it is going to be heading toward the yucatan peninsula and areas like cozumel as well as cancun over the next few days.
6:10 am
so we'll be watching that as we get a look at where we're starting this morning in the mid 50s in san rafael, dublin, at 60 degrees, it is 62 in san jose, and we're going to have some warmer temperatures this afternoon after a hot weekend. but it just gets hotter over these next few days. so we're going to talk more about that. as you look at your microclimate. let's head over to mike with a look at where we can find some lower gas prices. yeah. you know kari, well, you find him on this board because of all of you folks. i'll explain in a second. lowest on this board is at the top. san jose, 395 below four bucks. that's at platinum gas on tully road in contra costa county. it's 405. that's the best. it's in concord at a valero on willow pass road. and marin county's best is here. the bottom. the best is in san rafael for that county. 409 at the mobil on ritter street. that's the first time i think we called that one out, just off 101. thank you for reporting through gasbuddy.com. that's where you can check your city as well. get out to the roadways where things are moving relatively light in many parts
6:11 am
of the bay. but we are still looking at slowing for highway four. the backup builds of the bay bridge almost filling the toll plaza approach. and over here we're looking at vasco, that middle number. we're almost at a half hour, so there is a good amount of traffic still coming through and out of contra costa, county, down toward alameda county in 580. back to you. all right. thank you. well, the gas prices are a bit of a relief, but we're all familiar with those bad morning commutes. next on today in the bay, the worst commute in america. and here's a hint. it's right here at home in the bay area. hey, slow down about that. i know it seems like a bummer to talk about. i know our commutes are great because we come to work at, like, 3 to 4. yeah, there's no one out there. it's not a problem. hey, we just started the third financial quarter. how did stocks do and how will they do? speaking of let's go out to the futures this morning as we have this shortened trading week . well we're going to have some boost on the open okay. nice way to start out the month of july. but what about this. the end of the splash brothers. major changes coming to the warriors roster. the player already being

cut and the star player that could be lost to southern california rival. stay with us. you're watching today in the bay . nbc bay area gives you the most accurate forecast with storm ranger. the bay area's only mobile doppler radar. other radars sit too high, delaying when they spot the rain. but storm ranger gets lower, detecting more rain, fog and smoke. you can see the difference. storm ranger shows more detail than the national weather service, and with our app, you see what's happening right down to your street on your phone or on tv. get the most accurate forecast from nbc bay area's microclimate weather. is that your new nissan rogue? yeah, crazy story. so this morning i'm at the nissan thrill of summer sales event taking a test drive. when dave's like, these cars are going fast. i knew i had to have that rogue nissan offers six vehicles starting under $30,000. you told

6:15 am
the day, but it's going to be heating up quickly and we'll already be in the mid 80s at 1:00. we will have some hotter days ahead as we go throughout the week. we'll talk about the concerns we have for the bay area coming up in a few minutes, and we are looking at the san mateo bridge live look shows you the sun hitting the backs of these cars facing west. that means eastbound coming toward us. you got sun in your eyes. not so bad for the volume of traffic. just building a bit here. more build over out of the east bay. we'll show you what things are like there. coming up. well, good morning. very happy monday to you. should be a slow week business wise as many big companies in the bay area give their employees the week off 1st of july. so we're in the third quarter. the stock market did very well in the second quarter that ended last week. s&p 500 up 15. in just those three months. 15% would be a great return on the year. boeing aircraft is in the news. i'll get to them in a second. ginkgo bioworks, who trades trades rather as dna laying off there based in boston. but they got

6:17 am
much trouble for nearly 5 billion. well, you've heard all the warnings about how this will be the busiest week for flights ever. we've talked about this before, but i think it's interesting behavior when you poll americans about the economy . they say it's miserable. when you go to the airport, they're all going on vacation. retail sales are up as well, and we've talked about how when you drill down in the polls, people say, i'm okay, but everyone else is miserable. and it just, you know, becomes that idea. now i'm going to try to fly this weekend as well. now i'm one of those brave, right? i'm one of those dads that gets to the airport. you know. oh, you get there crazy like 6 to 7 days early. you know, i just i know not to risk it at all, so i should be fine. you could never travel with me. you'd hate it. i'm the one running through the airport pretty fast with his little legs. but at least i can check you in the overhead bin. exactly right. give me a little snack every once in a while. i'm good. all right, well, with the start of the nba free agency period, the warriors are already leaving little doubt that they are turning the page at this point.
6:18 am
one thing is for sure, chris paul will not be back next season. the warriors waived him yesterday and there are reports he's already agreed to a one year deal with san antonio. the spurs klay thompson also certain to be gone because he is now an unrestricted free agent. he is reportedly in talks with at least four teams, including the los angeles lakers and the los angeles clippers. the warriors, though, are not on that list, just completely different team. so weird. well, new at 6:00, no matter how long you've lived in the bay area, you probably know traffic can be a nightmare. according to financial website money geek, drivers in vallejo and fairfield have the worst commute of anywhere in the country. well, the financial website looked at average time behind the wheel, rush hour, speed and the cost of gas and the rates of fatal crashes. actually during the morning commute. on average, it takes drivers 34 minutes to get from point a to point b, the average speed during rush hour 28mph.
6:19 am
commuters also shell out an average of about $1,800 a year on gas for areas in california actually cracked the top five, but the rest were not in the bay area. well this 4th of july, as you look up into the sky, you might see drones instead of traditional fireworks show. so the agency behind some really spectacular displays for netflix, the challengers movie, they show how detailed those images and the messaging can be. they are a safer alternative to fireworks in the bay area and beyond, where wildfire risk is obviously a very big consideration as the co-founder of heads in the sky drones tells us, fireworks are classic, but they're limited. fireworks are are great. i don't think they're going away anytime soon. i'm not sure that drones are going to replace the tradition or the spectacle that is fireworks, but, drone shows have the capability to be dynamic, way more creative, you can create
6:20 am
full on images, words, text, emoji, and the night sky. and it's my opinion that it's the future of storytelling. now, he doesn't have a drone show in the bay area this 4th of july, but there are some drone shows planned around the bay area, from baylands park in sunnyvale to the spirit ship on mare island. pinole valley high school has a drone show and san pablo community center is planning one, as well as downtown napa. you know, and there's some areas like tahoe city that have, you know, it looks like fireworks are never going to come back up there. you know? but hearing the sizzle of the fireworks and the water sometimes is amazing. but that fire danger has got to be in the water really concerned. exactly. so they have drone shows and you know, every year we see people lighting illegal fireworks in their neighborhoods and in the hills. and that's what's so dangerous. it is so dangerous. and it's going illegal really hot. over these next few days. you are going to want to make sure you're preparing ahead, as we are going to see a lot of
6:21 am
changes over the next few days. so we're waking up to sunshine. it feels nice and cool this morning, but we will be under an excessive heat warning starting tomorrow, and it's for basically all of the bay area just excluding the immediate coastline. even the inner bay is going to be under a heat advisory as our temperatures start to go into the 80s and 90s even over 100 degrees. drink lots of water. even if you don't feel thirsty. and if you have to work outside, or if you're out there for long periods of time, take breaks in the shade, remember pets and livestock, and make sure that they're also taking care of and inside of a parked vehicle. it can reach over 150 degrees. so even just a minute or two of leaving the vehicle without the air conditioning, it can get really hot in there. 4th of july barbecues. you want to make sure that you're taking care of the coals and being very careful, only grilling on paved surfaces. and if you will be enjoying the water and make sure you're wearing a life jacket for you and everyone around you, our temperatures are going to be heating up even in san francisco
6:22 am
today we're in the mid 70s, mid 90s for napa and upper 90s for much of the east bay. tomorrow's when the heat really hits us, and even san francisco and the coastline is going to be in the 80s. but the farther you go inland, the more dangerous it's dangerous. it's going to be a major heat risk, and that's how this heat will impact your health. but it gets even worse. on wednesday, we start to seeing the purple on here. that's an extreme heat risk. and we'll see temperatures over 110 degrees for parts of the east bay and the north bay. unfortunately, i don't see a cool down even in this ten day forecast. as we take a look at brentwood, the temperature spike to 111 degrees here on wednesday. but even going into the weekend, there is not much of a cool down in sight. it's going to be hot with a lot of highs over 100 upper 90s into the rest of the week. while in san francisco, we will start to see that heat ease up just a bit. and mike, you were looking at the drive out of
6:23 am
richmond. yeah, we saw a little bit of a build, but it's actually starting to ease up once again out of richmond. i wanted to show you there were places where the traffic was building up. i mean, here's the bay bridge toll plaza. but notice this. there's good spacing here between these vehicles. and look behind me. there's not even a solid backup to the end of the parking lot. so it's lighter build, including off of the 880 overcrossing. and that's what we're going to see is there's a lot of vacation going on right now for companies around the bay. still, some slowing through concord, really, that east bay is the worst of the slowing that you see. back to you. thank you mike. well, next on today in the bay nbc bay area response, a company 5000 miles away is sitting on his 150 bucks. we're going to go the distance to get it back. i'm consumer investigator chris chmura, nbc bay area responds next. this is your moment. you can keep growing and you can keep getting stronger. what an inspiration. i am ready to make more history. i think something

for 169 a month. hoping that the money is still there. i think that's a lot of people's concerns right now. at 630, credit union customers briefly locked out of their accounts. we are live with the security incident still impacting a half million bay area customers. the cross to cross the golden gate bridge just went up, where the increase falls in a series of toll hikes now in the works, illegal fireworks and potential triple digit temperatures this week. it is a dangerous combination that could lead to fires. we will break down where you can leave the show to the pros. this is today in the bay. thanks so much for joining us on this first day of july, i'm kris sanchez, i'm in for marcus washington and i'm laura garcia. let's bring in meteorologist kari hall this morning. we're talking about the warm up that
6:32 am
is coming to the bay area. and the thing is, we're talking triple digit temperatures. i mean, brentwood, it was like 110 or something. yeah, it's going to be really rough these next few days. and when we have extreme heat and a holiday, you think about people who are going to be outside as well as that high fire danger. and we haven't had a heat wave this long in quite a while. it will extend several days into this week and possibly into next week as well. for the bay, high temperatures will reach into the 80s and 90s for the valleys, it's going to be into the 90s, and as we mentioned, over 110 degrees in some spots and very high fire danger, as well as impacts to our air quality, at least we do as of now, have a nice cool morning with a lot of 50s as you're heading out the door, and it's going to be a little bit warmer today than it was yesterday, with concord reaching a high of 99 degrees 87 in san jose. but it will be much hotter. we'll start to really feel that heat starting tomorrow, so i'll have more on

an email to customers yesterday afternoon saying on saturday experienced this serious security incident, which required the company to shut down some systems and an update last night, patelco said electronic transactions like transfers, payments and balance inquiries are still unavailable, says its call centers and customer service will be back open this morning, but expect longer wait times. the company hasn't said what type of incident it was or who may have been behind it, which tells me that somebody actually inside their network and crippled their ability. so what they have done is like unplugging, like an unplugged, you know, the computer, they unplugged the network and trying to assess the damage and see how to deal with it, hoping that the money is still there. i think that's a lot of people's concerns. looking at the comments on the twitter feed is, is our money safe? we did see customers driving up yesterday, some of the branch atms and a little bit of a panic because they couldn't
6:35 am
see their balances online and they can't see their balances on the atms either. but again, they are able to withdraw cash here. we saw man do it about an hour ago reporting live here in dublin, bob redell today in the bay. all right. let's hope those customers find some relief there. thanks, bob. well, we have new details just into our newsroom. a hearing that had been scheduled this morning for scott peterson. now being rescheduled. the judge was supposed to hear arguments surrounding planned new dna testing for one piece of evidence. a 15 inch piece of duct tape that was found on laci peterson's pants at the time of her autopsy. but the court just informed us the hearing will take place another day, with a day and time actually to be determined later. this morning. as many will remember, this is a case that certainly captivated the nation. 20 years later, we're getting you caught up on where the case stands and what will come next. i sat down with two attorneys who've been tracking the case since 2022, along with our jodi 2002, i

6:37 am
bridge district has been increasing tolls by $0.35 every year. you hear about it, then in march, leaders approved a series of new increases over the next five years. as one spokesperson says, the money is critical. it's important to note that the golden gate bridge district is unique among transit agencies and that we don't receive any dedicated state or local tax revenues. and so we rely primarily on bridge toll to keep up with the rising costs of providing our services and the services that our customers demand. now, paolo's agency also says that bridge traffic and transit ridership, it never fully recovered since the big drop during the pandemic, especially during the commute hours. but overall, it amounts to nearly $1 million less revenue every week. remember, 52 weeks in a year? lots of millions, which is a big reason for the massive budget shortfall for golden gate transit commuters. fares. also, most bus and ferry lines are also
6:38 am
increasing by about $0.25. again this for some is a daily fee, even if you're not commuting just to ride those agencies. so that is going to hit everybody's wallets going on. all right. thank you, mike. 637 right now. and if you are headed to lake tahoe for the holiday, be aware that three popular beaches will be dry, an alcohol ban spans four days from july 3rd to the seventh at chambers landing beach. two others, nevada beach and zephyr cove, will have alcohol free holidays just on the fourth. violators could be fined up to $5,000 for individuals. groups could be fined up to $10,000, and with the 4th of july holiday right around the corner, it is time for our annual reminder to leave the fireworks to the professionals. that's right. look at this show behind us here. nationwide, firefighters will respond to 10,000 fireworks burn and blast injuries, mostly to hands, arms and face. 75% of those injuries happen around the

4th of july. additionally, people using fireworks spark about 15,000 fires a year. that is the last thing we need. we've already seen vegetation fires across the bay area and with temperatures hovering around 100 degrees in some of our communities, actually even over, that won't take much for that fire danger to take off. the fine fuels the grasses and the weeds. they dry out real quick. you can watch the hillsides go from green to brown over the course of a week, but they can dry out, even if we have moisture in the morning, throughout the day, they'll dry out, especially with the warm weather. and if there's any kind of wind on them. the message from many bay area agencies leave the fireworks to the pros from parades to fireworks shows. actually, we've compiled a list of safe ways to celebrate the fourth across the bay area. if you have your smartphone handy, come on, you know you have it in your hand. you can use that qr

percentage. the color contours show you the fire danger and it will be moderate for today for the inland east bay parts of the north bay. but then look at tomorrow. that increases as our temperatures go up and the relative humidity may be as low as 5% in parts of the bay area. so if you get any kind of sparks in those conditions, fires can spread very quickly. it's going to be warming up today, ranging from the 70s near the coast to the highs over 100 degrees. but we'll talk about even hotter heat coming our way for the next few days. mike you are seeing that the commute seems slower this morning. yeah, not so much heat on the traffic sensors, but we're looking over here toward the bay bridge, where we do finally have it filled in all the way back past the end of the parking lot. took a while. just happened over the last 5 to 7 minutes. we also have the bill that the richmond bridge more focused, slowing getting over and toward the north bay, but no big deal. we do have traffic highway four bleeding down toward 242, but the walnut creek area 24 caldecott tunnel all

would win reelection. yes, they did that. nothing had changed, emhoff said. that's something we've heard over and over from democratic leadership. in fact, the democratic national committee tweeted a picture of biden right after the debate that said winner of the debate, rejecting what many of us saw with our own eyes on thursday. here's emhoff over the weekend. we are going to win this election because nothing has changed. nothing has changed. donald trump is still unfit to ever return to the white house. donald trump still tried to overthrow a free and fair election and still wouldn't commit to that during that debate. now things have changed. cbs yougov poll taken right after the debate found 72% of registered voters questioned said biden did not have the mental or cognitive health to serve as president. nearly half

said that about trump as well. the margin of error here is enormous. by standard polling, more than 4. but this is a flash poll, nbc news reports. the biden family gathered this weekend at camp david, where the president's family members urged him to stay in the race and indeed, to fire some of the advisers that had prepped him for the debate. over the course of several days. the campaign will release a new ad later today, showing a vivacious president biden, much of it from clips from just a day after the debate. meantime, the new york times editorial board over the weekend said it was time for the president to step aside, not to resign, but not to run for further office. the times said the president was a shadow of a great public service servant during the debate, and that while biden had done great things as president, the greatest public service mr. biden can now perform is to announce that he will not continue to run for reelection. now, keep in mind, as we consider the ramifications of last week's debate, the debate
6:48 am
was biden's idea. he wanted it early. his camp set the rules. the point of the whole thing was to show biden as a strong and competent leader, to shut down talk. he is too old for the job. this is the debate that biden asked for. we're not alone in elections. the first round of two elections in france began over the weekend, with the far right national party doing very well here. you see him celebrating, hearing him to. the french are frustrated with the immigration inflation and they're leaning right. president macron's job not at risk. he's not up for election, but the prime minister who serves under him. if elected, could be a 28 year old from the right wing named jordan bardella. in the uk, the opposite move from conservative to liberal, as conservative prime minister rishi sunak's job definitely in jeopardy. the conservatives the tories have ruled britain for more than ten years, and many british voters think it's time for a change. quite possibly a landslide for this guy. liberal labor leader keir starmer. they

go to the polls on thursday back here at home. we should get a decision on the supreme court today over presidential immunity, whether a sitting president can break laws. the rest of us have to follow a 1981 supreme court decision found sitting presidents cannot be sued in civil court over official acts, while president and justice department policies say sitting presidents can't be prosecuted for crimes they commit while president, but they can't be after office. trump says this is not true, that presidents cannot be prosecuted after they leave. special prosecutor jack smith brought that question to the supreme court, trying to get a decision as quickly as possible so he could move forward with his prosecution over trump's attempt to subvert the 2020 elections, not only did the court not rush the case, it's waited beyond its last scheduled day for decisions until today, the very last day of the term. and chris and laura, as i've said earlier, we
6:50 am
expect this at 7 a.m, but this is the supreme court, and we've begun to expect the unexpected right. we also expected it two weeks ago. yes. all right. thank you very much, scott. well, this morning, one thing is official. we're not waiting for it anymore. as expected, simone biles is officially a member of team usa's olympic gymnastics, the olympic gold medalist taking home first place in the all around competition during the final day of the us gymnastics trials in minneapolis. biles will be the fourth american gymnast in history to compete at three separate olympics. after bowing out of tokyo. she says she knew it wasn't finished. i feel like a little bit of a redemption tour i met in tokyo. we all didn't have our best performances, so we're excited to go out there and kill it. also named to the squad three of biles tokyo teammates, including suni lee, jordan chiles and jade carey, also making a return to the olympics. following all that competition. fun to watch all four along with team usa newcomer hezly rivera, will

6:53 am
at one of the hotter spots, it's going to be hot even into the weekend and extending into next week. it's been a long time since we've had a heat wave that lasts this long, so the overnight temperatures don't come down as low and that really starts to affect how you feel. not being able to sleep well. and it's going to be compounded as these days continue into the weekend into next week. we will see though, it come down to a few degrees for san francisco. mike castle, looking now in the south bay, you know we have a bill that's a little different pattern. we talked about businesses on vacation this week. scott's talked about it to 87 just in the last two minutes has shown a little bit of speed below the limit 101, showing that starting back at curtner and capitol expressway. in fact, we're looking at the build for the tri valley as well. again, these are lighter commutes but same area, similar pattern. right? as we look at the east bay, we're showing highway four. not as bad as you travel down into 42 concord, pleasant hill, walnut creek, all still at speed for 680 and a mild build as you
