clearing out encampments, the key funding he is threatening to take away if local leaders don't take action. plus, vice president harris headed to the bay area. the fundraiser being held and how much those tickets are selling for. and we are winding down from the olympics. but team usa still going strong for gold. we're live in paris with the games on tap today. this is today in the bay and this is friday morning. yes, that's what i was just going to say. that's what i'm talking about. gold medal for the day. all right. good morning to you i'm marcus washington and i'm laura garcia. not that we don't love each other, but we really love a friday around here. i love you more later on in the day. exactly. i'll think of you. yeah. looking good today. it's still going to be warm in the valleys, but we're once again dealing with our microclimates and a wide range in temperatures. but it was nice to get a little bit of a cool down yesterday in spots like san jose. that made it into the
5:02 am
upper 70s and low 80s. and then as you headed farther south, it was much hotter. so really just depending on where you are, maybe this weekend you'll be able to take a short drive to experience some cooler weather. it's going to definitely be cooler across the bay area by sunday, and next week we'll go back to what's normal for this time of year, what we call our seasonal averages. so we'll talk more about that coming up in a few minutes. and mike, you're hearing about a car fire in oakland. yeah. and so jerry, over there in our operations center turned the camera toward 98 southbound. 880 right around this area. we've been watching for any smoke or any flame or even any slowing. we don't see anything. i'm still watching the report because it is still on the blotter. not know more detail came in. so we're watching that portion of oakland. meanwhile nearby do see a lot more slowing. this is eastbound 580 around grove crow canyon road. we're looking at a slowdown there, maybe a crash blocking one lane. there's a lot of activity right now, so that's slow. heading over toward dublin out of castro valley. back to you. thank you very much, mike. governor gavin newsom
5:03 am
threatening to pull funding from counties if they don't start taking down encampments. but the mayor of san jose is pushing back, saying people have to have a place to go today in the bay's kris sanchez joins us from san jose with more on this back and forth. kris good morning to you, laura and marcus. so we know in the city of san jose and we've reported to you that the city is working to move people away from encampments, away from waterways, which is what the governor ordered by executive order just a few weeks ago. but just recently, the governor rolled up his sleeves and expressed a remarkable amount of frustration at the fact that in cities across the state, it's not happening fast enough. i'm here on behalf of 40 million californians that are fed up. i'm here because i'm one of them. i want to see results. this is not about criminalization. what's crimina. it's neglecting people that are struggling and suffering and dying on our watch. now, the
5:04 am
city of san jose has been working with valley water to clear, then ban encampments along creeks and waterways to avoid pollution that could get the city fined. now, that could mean a warning, but then a $500 fine and up to 30 days in jail if they refuse to leave a part of the mayor's response to governor newsom, reads. as the entire state ramps up efforts to clear encampments, restore public spaces, and keep these areas free of encampments, our state, counties and every city must show equal resolve in expanding shelter and inpatient treatment beds so we can offer a dignified place to go and without these solutions, we spend precious taxpayer dollars simply shuffling people from jurisdiction land to other jurisdictions. now, the governor's threat is to reduce funding to counties that don't act fast enough to clear state owned land, and that could happen within the next budget. but as the mayor, matt mahan, says, this is kind of
5:05 am
counterintuitive because you can't have more inpatient beds, you can't have more temporary shelters without the funding. in san jose, kris sanchez, today in the bay, the funding is important. all right, chris, thank you. new video this morning showing a crash involving a police cruiser. take a look at this. this happened last night in san jose near san jose community college. and you can see right here that damage to the front end of the car which struck this sedan. now, police did not provide an update, but we don't believe anyone was seriously injured. to decision 2024 and the return of vice president kamala harris to the bay area. she'll be in san francisco on sunday for a fundraiser. donors will pay a minimum of $3,300, but the website indicates that her tier at that level is already sold out, as are the next three tiers up to $50,000. tickets are still available at the 250,000 and $500,000 level. the exact location details are still under
5:06 am
wraps, but bloomberg reports it will be at the fairmont. stay with nbc bay area all weekend as we continue to bring you coverage ahead of the vice president's visit, you can keep up with us online, all the happenings, or on our mobile app as well. everything's free or find us wherever you stream. 505 for you this morning and the 2024 paris olympics officially coming to a close this weekend. but the flame continues to burn, igniting the dream for team usa to bring home another gold medal in men's basketball today in the bay's jessica aguirre joins us live from paris. jess, a real nail biter to get to this point, but some of nba's biggest stars proved their worth on the international stage once again. the thing is, this really is kind of the dream team that we're talking about here. look, when you have it like that, you can't help but to just, you know, look, look, shoot for gold. that's all we're hoping for. exactly. so we're going to check in with the jess in just a little bit. but we want to talk
5:07 am
about the forecast as well. you know they've been having a little bit of that humidity in paris that they have. and the heat it is summer. and i guess here too. yeah. look meteorologist kari hall of course been monitoring that. look the good thing about it all, kari, is that it's not as hot over in paris. so we can watch the games enjoyed perhaps cooler temperatures here in the bay area yeah, we do have some cooler weather here. let's take you to paris with a look at what to expect for today. we're really excited about breaking and watching some of the newer events that we haven't seen the past few days, and we're already in the afternoon there in paris. they're nine hours ahead, so it's at 206 right now in the afternoon, partly to mostly cloudy temperatures up to about 80 degrees. and then as we go into tonight, it's going to be cooling down into the low 60s. but what we'll see in those main headlines, the heat as we approach the closing ceremony on sunday will be in the upper 90s, but at least the closing ceremony will be late in the evening. and then on monday,
5:08 am
look at that. they're going to be hitting 100 degrees on monday as people are leaving paris back to you. yeah, that's the one thing they may be happy to leave. absolutely okay, look, so when you have some of the best players in the world on one team, you think nothing but gold. but that's not always the case. team usa men's basketball team, they are going for gold yet again in the olympics. yeah. so let's check in with jessica aguirre. she is live in paris. real nail biter there. maybe they're just kind of adding to the show for us. oh boy, that was a great show. team usa headed to that gold medal match and it really was a thrilling game with a come from behind. just show of force from steph curry for the lead. kaboom and that would be steph curry the warriors player with a rally for an epic comeback over serbia. team usa down for the majority of the game. in fact, 13 points
5:09 am
down heading into the fourth. then curry adding 36 points and lebron pulling the team forward to a dramatic win. they now play france on saturday for the gold. now women hoops now team usa with one win away from reaching an eighth straight gold medal game, the women have won 59 straight olympic games dating back to 1992. they play australia later today. now a team usa men's soccer out of contention. you have got to pick a side. it's either france or it's spain. so yes, those two european countries that battled it out in the 1600s in the franco-spanish war for domination. you're going to have to pick one of those. all right, let's talk about the b boys and the b girls. we're calling you all because it's happening. it's coming down. breaking has made it to the olympics. yes, at la place de la concorde. it is happening today. it is the women that are going to be battling i.
5:10 am
in fact, it's already underway. one of the oldest cities in europe embracing the hip hop phenomenon with a nod to the athleticism and artistry someone wants to take. gold b-boy victor, who goes tomorrow, says he is humbled by being part of the sport's olympic debut. this is something that i've been thinking about because my main goal was like, gold medal. you know, olympics, and then now it's like, wait a minute, i'm representing a whole culture. i'm representing hip hop, you know? and i representing like the essence of that. and we're going to be at this big olympic stage. we're going to have all eyes on us. and all eyes on the nbc bay area studio as well. it's not exactly breaking, but marcus, you and janelle really do like to bust a move at work. you've even invited the fridge mascots to participating. now, there is no official event at the olympic games yet, but maybe they can add a competition for
5:11 am
the los angeles 2028 games. and it would be anchor dancing. i think that could be something. it could catch on. now, you apparently have already chosen your partner janelle, so i'm going to have to recruit raj to be my partner and wait. they may be playing my song down at champions park and you know, i can bust a move. so it's going to be fierce competition with you. definitely that you can just now, did you say you're in the competition? okay, now i'm a little nervous. to see who gets the gold, you may want to drop janelle. i'm just saying, i can't do that. we'll see you all in the olympics. no, you may want to get a real dancer, but that's okay. we'll see you. all right, well, we're still nearing the end of the competition. you know, some highly anticipated events are taking place in prime time tonight. women will take on the water in the diving springboard final. and they are also hoping to spike their way to victory in beach volleyball. followed by several track and
5:12 am
field events where medals are on the line and we will also find out who will claim gold as breaking as jess was just talking about highly anticipated debut there for the olympic games. hey, all that kicks off at 8:00 tonight right here on nbc bay area. and this weekend there are two olympic watch parties as team usa vies for gold and men's basketball. and women's soccer, both at the lot. city center bishop ranch. you can see steph, katie and lebron on the court at 1230 saturday afternoon and then the women's national soccer team, they're going to play brazil for gold. that watch party begins at 6:00 tomorrow night. now, if you want to see the game play live, bay fc hosting its own event, that watch party is going to take place at o'flaherty's irish pub in san jose during the morning. those doors are going to open at 7:30 a.m. 5:12 a.m. meantime, on your friday morning, lots more still to come on today in the bay, including donald trump talking a lot about business. at
5:13 am
that press conference yesterday, plus a sign that fall is on the way when one food blogger says pumpkin spice will be back on starbucks menu. but first, here's a look at the count. the medal count there in the olympics, much more ahead for you this morning. you're watching today in the bay seconl

5:16 am
for the kids in new york today. it's starting out cloudy and in the upper 50s. a cool morning, but a really comfortable afternoon. it's friday, we're headed into a nice weekend. we'll take a look at that forecast coming up. summer is other kids still on their summer schedule. so we're looking at the fog across the bay bridge. i'm sorry. the changing the computer is my fault there. look at that smooth drive. now you can't see the tops of the towers, but when you're on the deck of the bridge itself, you're just fine. it just looks like carl's taking it easy. clearing from the bridge as well. it's friday. some folks are leaving a little bit later. we'll watch that commute. well, good morning to you. i have some cool numbers to take a look at and how different they are from monday. not a full recovery, but look at this. we'll still be likely negative for the week, but this is definitely a better mood. the s&p the nasdaq had their best day since 2002. jp

morgan chase is going to give its employees access to special versions of chatgpt to help them write and write emails and reports, and nvidia has signed an agreement with the state of california to bring artificial intelligence training to schools, particularly community colleges. the governor, nvidia ceo and the california state chancellor of community colleges. they're signing the deal in this picture. chargepoint, which makes those electric chargers use at the mall and elsewhere, announced it's developed a charger that can fit any car from ford to tesla without using an adapter. you just tell the machine what kind of charger you want to use and it gives you the right plug, donald trump, who now says he likes electric cars after elon musk endorsed him, held a press conference thursday. he said presidents ought to get a say in raising or lowering interest rates, and pointed out gas during some years of his administration was close to a dollar a gallon. now, that was during the worldwide pandemic
5:18 am
that killed more than a million americans. nobody was on the road. he also complained president biden was using the nation's strategic petroleum reserve to stabilize gas prices. now, this is something many presidents have done. he's sucked all of the oil out. essentially, the gasoline to keep the to keep the price down a little bit. and it's had very little impact. but you know what? we have no strategic national reserves now. now he's sucked all of the oil out. all right. now trump at one point wanted to cut the petroleum reserve in half, but was talked out of it. fair to say, because america pumps so much of its own oil, a record amount. in fact, we don't need the spr the way we used to. and a new survey from cnbc called the all american economic survey finds 80% of trump supporters say they know a lot or some about his policies towards the economy, compared to just 58% for harris, a poll has a margin of error, 3.1% conducted early last week. you know, it will be interesting to
5:19 am
get a handle on harris policies, and we assume we'll hear more about them at the convention. right. but yeah, i think we'll hear more and more now that she's announced and how they differ from biden's as well, because that's going to be huge. yeah. all right. thanks, scott. you bet. well trending this morning for those awaiting pumpkin spice season where's kari hall. listen to this. the wait is almost over. that is according to a food blogger, markie. devo has correctly predicted 2022 and 2020 three's exact date of the pumpkin spice returns, and now he's predicting a release of august 22nd after he says employees leaked their fall menu to him. okay, well, we would know too, if an employee leaked it, right? to be clear, starbucks has not said when the lattes are returning. but i call out, my dear friend kari hall because she is the pumpkin spice queen. she's just appropriately ready for it already. i think she has some inside information. where's our theme music? yeah, they're coming. you're ready?
5:20 am
obviously i didn't even know, but yeah, and i always try to find her something pumpkin spice related. you know, you start to see things out there. but now my kids are into it, too. yeah yeah. already they're shopping for kari hall. oh, my god. well, hey, something else we want to talk about. we all know outside lands happens this weekend, starting just a few hours, but that is not the only big bay area music festival happening this weekend. my time, yes. yes, this is video from last year san jose jazz summerfest. this year three day event is going to start this afternoon. we're talking about 45 acts on nine stages, covering genres from jazz to r&b, blues, latin, swin. headliners include herbie hancock, tomorrow night and incognito tonight. the main stage, located on plaza de cesar chavez. one day tickets start at $43. three day pass start 135. i've been to that event and it
5:21 am
is always a good one. nice and good weather for it, i would think. yes, we have some really nice weather for the weekend. we're not talking about extreme heat or any records or anything like that, and then we know how it goes. during the middle of the day it's hot, but then it cools down quickly. let's take a live look outside in dublin this morning and we take a look at our high temperatures versus what's average. and we are very close. finally, it's been so hot all week in santa rosa. we are still a few degrees above our normal high temperature for this day, and in concord we're still headed for 92 degrees. so there will be some of our inland valleys that will be hot in livermore, right close to average will be up to 89 today and 82 in san jose. so really nice not only for today, but into the weekend and once again, we do still have some valley heat. so in morgan hill not much relief today. we're still hitting the low 90s. and then for the east bay up to 93. in antioch, pleasanton, 88 degrees and 77 in hayward and near the coast in the low 60s for half
5:22 am
moon bay, redwood city, 78 degrees, and san francisco. staying in the 60s again today with some gusty winds and some peeks of sunshine. 87 will be the high in napa and 89 in santa rosa. we will see the early morning clouds quickly clearing out. fog rebuilds tonight, but may reach a little bit farther inland, giving us that early morning marine layer and the low clouds. but then as we go throughout the day in spots like santa rosa, we're still going to have some warm temperatures tomorrow, but then it will be cooler going into next week. so we are looking forward to some lower temperatures and going from low 90s today to low 80s by the end of next week, and our overnight lows will dip down into the upper 50s. mike, you're looking at the friday drive in the tri valley. yeah, we're looking near the dublin pleasanton bart station. traffic's relatively light since we're near the bart station. i did just get an update about a ten minute delay right now. reported for the berryessa line. now everything had been restored
5:23 am
to normal. remember we had those closures yesterday. they restored to normal just by 6:00 last night. but again, this is on the berryessa line, a ten minute delay, some sort of equipment problem. so we'll track that on the rails as well. now back to the roads. we're looking at a smooth drive out of the altamont. it's friday a lighter volume of traffic. we do have some recovery. it looks like that earlier crash may have cleared from eastbound 580 coming into dublin out of castro valley. back to you. thanks, mike. 522. coming up next on today in the bay nbc bay area responds this weekend. you can help bay area students start off the new school year on the right foot and with a backpack full of necessary supplies, i'm chris chmura. i'll show you how we're e

for your kids, pencils and pens and paper might give you some sticker shock in 2024. yeah, i think that it's getting even harder, right, there has been cost of living increases across the bay area and our community specifically feels that exponentially. that's parent and ravenswood school board member jenny bloom. we met jenny at a back to school event with our longtime nonprofit partner, family giving tree, for collecting donations to give thousands of backpacks full of essential supplies to kids who need them, places like the family giving tree and nbc like putting on these type of events really helps those parents be able to give the things to their
5:27 am
kids, like backpacks. this weekend, you can help. you can donate new school supplies in person tomorrow at the walmart in livermore on las positas road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. what you see on screen right now is a recommended shopping list. it's also on the family giving tree website, which is fgt.org. well, if you can't make it to livermore, no problem. you can donate online, visit our website nbcbayarea.com. slash schools. there you can virtually pack a backpack full of supplies that will translate into a real backpack full of supplies for a deserving bay area child. have a great weekend! thanks so much. nice cause there. well, coming up next, top stories that we're following for you today, including barred back up and running after a system wide outage. what caused the major backup that caused a lot of traffic headaches? i'm ginger conejero saab in san francisco. the stages are set for the big
5:28 am
annual music festival outside lands here in san francisco. but up ahead, we'll tell you why. aside from the music festival, it's going to be a very busy weekend in san francisco peoplee
5:29 am
5:30 am
scrambling to get vaccines right now. at 530, a summer covid surge in full swing. now there's
5:31 am
a decrease in vaccines, the trouble many say they're running into. plus, thousands of people will descend on san francisco for outside lands this weekend. we have live team coverage on what you can expect if you're heading to the city, and a live look in walnut creek, where we're under an air quality advisory. meteorologist kari hall, tracking the smoke lingering across the bay area and when it's expected to move out. this is today in the bay here we go. 530 on your friday morning. thanks for starting your day with us. i'm laura garcia, and i'm marcus washington. let's get you caught up with that forecast this morning. meteorologist kari hall has a look at what we have in store and the air quality. i know we've got those fires still burning. how is that looking for us? as far as our near surface smoke, it is moderate. so it hasn't turned really unhealthy for us as we are seeing much more of a wind coming onshore. and a lot of the fires are farther off. towards the east, we have a new one burning over
5:32 am
el dorado county, and much of that smoke is blowing over towards south lake tahoe, and we also see the park fire that continues and much of that smoke is also blowing away from the bay area but still in this weather setup, we do see some drifts of smoke coming in, but it is a little bit higher up and we just basically see it not affecting as much of the air quality, but it will still be hot in the valleys today, so i'll be tracking air quality and also weekend events coming up. thank you very much. it is 531 in new overnight. two people are in the hospital after being shot outside a popular santa cruz nightspot. it happened last night in the parking lot of the crow's nest on east cliff, near the harbor. our sister station tells us the victims are in critical condition. a patron waiting to get in describes what happened after the gunfire. we see everybody run. we see everybody dogpile. yes, they're just like running. they're just screaming. and we're just like, okay, i freak out too. i'm just like, okay, angela, let's go,
5:33 am
let's go, let's get out of here. police say at least two people were in the suspected vehicle, identified as a black dodge charger. 532 right now and covid surging this summer here in california. and vaccines now harder to find today in the bay's bob redell. joining us live from pleasanton this morning. and bob, we heard doctors say get the vaccine. get the vaccine. well now a lot of people just can't find it. what's going on with that? good morning marcus. well, there is a limited supply. we did ask that question to one major health care provider and a couple of pharmacies, a rite aid corporate office. they told me that they are limited on their supply of covid 19 vaccinations right now because the current doses are expiring and they can't get a restock because they're waiting for the newly formulated doses for 2024, 2025 to arrive that is expected. this september, which is obviously just a few weeks away. similar response from cvs, which says many of their locations still have doses,
5:34 am
which i've confirmed i was just online here in the tri-valley, you can still get a covid 19 vaccinations at the cvs here, but they can't restock because again, they are waiting for the new doses to ship out. and here's a statement from kaiser permanente that reads, in part due to limited supply of the 20 2324 covid 19 vaccines, kaiser permanente will not be routinely providing covid 19 vaccinations for some or all age groups for the rest of the summer, depending on the service area. vaccination for all recommended age groups will resume when the 20 2425 covid 19 vaccines are available in september. these new formulations are expected to provide additional protection against the currently circulating strains of the covid 19 virus. doctor peter chin-hong, infectious disease specialist at ucsf, tells us. the new subvariant kp 3.1.1 came out of the blue. it's not more deadly than other variants, but definitely more transmissible. last year, a lot of people got
5:35 am
vaccinated in general in the community, including those over 65 this past year, not a lot of people got immunized. so when the summer, increase in cases came, right now, a lot of people are scrambling to get vaccines. if you are 65 years of age or older or immunocompromised, doctor chin-hong recommends you do get the new shot. but wait until october. so it's coming out in september, he says. wait until october so that the antibodies peak in the winter, when there's most likely to be another uptick in covid. back out here, live outside this rite aid pharmacy in pleasanton. as i told you, i was able to go online cvs, find doses that are available. you go on to the rite aid website. you can't even select covid 19. it's not an option anymore. until september. reporting live here in pleasanton, bob redell. today in the bay. all right. good to know. all right. thank you. bob developing right now the hunt
5:36 am
continues for the man who opened fire yesterday at uc berkeley's clark kerr track. terrifying people out on their morning jog. officers from multiple agencies swarmed the track a little before 8 a.m. police say a man fired at least two shots near runners. no one was injured, but the search led to a six hour lockdown in the surrounding area. the shooter, described as having bleached hair with red or orange highlights, and he was wearing a black shirt and a red backpack. a quick follow up for you this morning. bart does not expect any lingering issues this morning after the computer glitch shut down several stations for hours. all started yesterday morning. a networking issue initially halted all of those trains between berryessa and hayward stations took about eight hours for service to be fully restored. bart used busses to fill in those gaps. all right, guys, the stage is set. big acts coming to san francisco, starting today. this is for outside lands. vice president kamala harris also
5:37 am
will be in the city this weekend. so you can expect a lot of traffic out there. we've got live team coverage on everything you need to know before you go. we're going to start out with today in the bay's ginger conejero saab. she's live at golden gate park. have you had your espresso this morning? yes, i have good morning, laura and marcus. because of course i am ready to talk about outside lands. the annual music festival that is such a big draw to the city. but this year it falls on a busy weekend as well. the giants are in town. there will be baseball in the city, and as we've been talking about, as you've mentioned already, the vice president set to pay a visit as well. so you may say that the traffic is going to be h o tito. go. all right. you'll if you know you know, let's get right to it. the stage is set for the outside lands music festival here at golden gate park. the three day celebration of music, food, wine and art is an annual big draw to the city, and this year it's bringing in
5:38 am
these headliners. tonight you can catch the killers. they'll be the main headliners today you can catch sabrina carpenter and have your espresso tomorrow, august 10th, and sturgill simpson and post malone on sunday will be the big show. there now take a look at this. well, not a headliner, but drawing big crowds is chapel row. now, if you know you know about the upcoming singer coined the midwest princess who recently broke a major record at lollapalooza, she had the largest crowd in lollapalooza history. now she'll be here this sunday. she'll be at the lands end main stage at 4 p.m, but whatever your music tastes are, outside lands is a big economic boost for the city. there are 75,000 people expected to come each day of the festival, and
5:39 am
the city anticipates a $75 million boost to the local economy on an already busy weekend. people are working really hard and doing what they need to do to make ends meet, but then people want to experience something other than working and we provide that. all right, i'm going to try that one more time. the traffic is going to be h o t t o g. oh, it's supposed to happen a lot faster. i know one piece of advice from san francisco rec and park. don't drive. if you're going to come in to the city or into golden gate park, go ahead and take a public transportation. but i know mike will have more on that. oh yeah, in golden gate park, ginger conejero saab today in the bay, i got it, yeah, got it down. i'll be out there doing the all the hand signals and the dance. people like, wait, do i go right? left. what exactly. yeah. i'll just cause crashes now we'll talk about that though. coming up. but the weekend is upon us. the weather should cooperate to. yes. bring your hoodies and your layers. if you're going to be out there and
5:40 am
outside lands, it's going to be chilly and at times misting and drizzling. once the low clouds and the fog rolls in the high temperatures during the middle of the day there at golden gate park is only going to reach into the low 60s, and that wind at times at 15, 20, 25mph makes it feel even cooler. so be prepared. lows dropped down into the mid 50s. much hotter temperatures. if you're going to the gilroy rodeo this weekend. today it's in the low 90s and slightly hotter tomorrow with a high of 93 degrees. at least it cools down at night. but then on sunday we do have some slightly lower temperatures with highs in the mid 80s there. and then all weekend long we have the san jose summer jazz festival happening. beautiful weather, temperatures in the mid 80s and a breezy wind there will be a few clouds during the afternoon and into the evening, and then we're back up to some of the same temperatures, maybe just a touch warmer on saturday, but looking very comfortable on sunday with a high of about 81. if you plan to go to the coast
5:41 am
this weekend, there you'll encounter some really cool temperatures. stinson beach will be in the mid 60s today, up to 70 tomorrow. santa cruz in the low 70s for today and tomorrow and then for monterey, upper 50s and low 60s. and if you're going to tahoe this weekend, we are going to see highs in the low 80s at palisades and mostly sunny skies overnight. lows in the mid 40s. so pack for the cool mornings and those warm afternoons before you hit the road. speaking of hit the road mike, you are giving us some notes about outside shot owego. yeah, exactly. that's why i follow the directions of those doing traffic control. not that dance move. we're looking over here toward lincoln way, where there is a specified section where they're not allowing drop off and pickup. that's on the southern portion of golden gate park, where outside lands will be starting today, all weekend. so watch for that section. watch very carefully for the marked areas you can have special demarcations for where you can pick up rideshares and others can pick up and drop off. and also there's some added transit.
5:42 am
so watch for golden gate transit and mt. sfmta as well. one other note for today specifically that short hop for pier 41 that is not in service, but that's the only issue we have for the ferry lines over here. we do have a crash near highway 37 and mare island. we see a typical slow drive building just now, but light traffic for a friday, so we'll track that one crash a little bit of brake tap here for highway four again. this is friday, so lighter traffic flow around the bay. we do have this starting up north 101 just through san jose. that's starting up right on this typical time and a typical slowing through the area. but we'll see those commutes start to ease up a little bit earlier for that first burst. and then we'll watch for that second one to kick in in about an hour. no delays along the peninsula. watch for patches of fog here and there. back to you. thanks, mike. moving the bay area forward ahead on today in the bay. the help local latinas are getting to advance their careers in politics. donald trump very sensitive about his crowd size. plus the meteor shower is going

were the only ones there to capture the heavy police presence. last night at exquisite barber shop. this is on brace avenue near lincoln and willow glen. authorities will only say a special operations team was serving a search warrant. one woman during was dining nearby, and she tells us what she saw. i pulled up to the villa about an hour ago to come and get something to eat, and i pull up and i see the merge truck here and they were on their loudspeaker saying, come out now! we did speak with barbers off camera, who told us police never explained why they were there. donald trump held more than an hour long press conference at his mar a lago home on thursday, and scott mcgrew he dared vice president kamala harris to do the same. yeah, i mean, it would be nice, right, to get a handle on harris's ideas and policies. she's running for president, after all. presumably some of them are different than president biden's. which one's not clear now. president trump did not leave the concept there.

he called harris dumb in several different ways. he also got quite angry when a reporter pointed out he had not left mar a lago in several days, and that his next political rally is in a montana, a state that's not even in play. meantime, she pointed out, harris was filling stadiums in key battleground states. what a stupid question this is on the other side. why haven't you been campaigning? because i'm leading by a lot. and because i'm letting their convention go through and i am campaigning a lot. i'm doing tremendous amounts of taping here. we have commercials that are at a level i don't think that anybody's ever done before. plus in certain cases, i see many of you in the room where i'm speaking to you on phones, i'm speaking to radio, i'm speaking to television. television is coming over here. excuse me. what are we doing right now? she's not doing any news conference. you know why she's not doing it? because she can't do a news

be clear for that? so as we take a look at our hour by hour outlook, showing the patchy clouds and the drizzle, we are going to see that fog rolling in, at least for the coast and parts of the east bay. these are the areas that are going to be seeing. unfortunately, a blocks the sky. we will have the best view of the meteor shower getting away from that. also away from the light pollution will give you a better view of watching the meteor shower this weekend. but we will see the clouds and the fog at times linger throughout the weekend. it is all clear as we take a look at our sunrise this morning over dublin, and when we expect our highs to go back into the upper 80s low 90s, we are getting a little bit closer to what our average high temperature for mid-august. so we are going to see a high of 89 degrees today in santa rosa, and our average high is 84. so we're just slightly above that. we are not expecting to set any records. livermore in the upper 80s and low 80s for san jose. so

a note now about bart. yeah, and you might have heard me confirming that i got the note in my ear as well. bart, we talked about a delay on the berryessa line, and it was unrelated as far as i can tell, unrelated to yesterday's computer problems. well, that delay is starting to recover now. as much as 20 minutes for that first train getting out of berryessa there, as you're heading up, there was an issue equipment problem on the tracks near the bayfair station, where we had the problems yesterday. but again, it sounds like everything was unrelated. it was a physical equipment issue. as you're getting up on the berryessa line, which has now been restored back to service, and so everything should be fine for this morning's ride. we'll continue to monitor that. but no computer problems reported like yesterday's bart system issues. now we're looking over here. north to 80. took about 20 minutes for this to clear up, but there was some slowing northbound toward page mill road. in the last few minutes we've seen north 280 recover. an earlier crash did clear from the roadway. typically, though, 280 sees no slowing. so wanted to call that out. there may be minor slowing. should be cleared probably. if you're leaving. let's see. mountain view los altos. by this time it should be clear by the time you get there.

over here, there is a crash that's still on the grid for highway 37, right around mare island and around the bridge. no additional slowing shows up, but there may be activity as you're coming across in that commute direction. minor slowing out of vallejo light friday, of course. so we're holding steady with light brake tapping here for concord as you head down. 242 and in toward walnut creek. so this stretch of 680 moves smoothly from the benicia bridge down through walnut creek, continuing down toward the dublin interchange without any issues. a smooth drive here at the bay bridge as well. again, friday sees a lighter, lighter build in the morning, so right now no metering lights, no backup. back to you. thanks mike. well happening now. authorities in vienna have made a third arrest. this is in connection to the alleged terror plot canceling three sold out taylor swift concerts. investigators say that the agents arrested an 18 year old man who exchanged communications with the main suspect already in custody. authorities also say that there are no more outstanding suspects, and the plot appears to have been inspired by al qaeda terror group, which two of those suspects pleaded oaths of
