the weekend. now time to check in with mike, who reminds us that crews will close a tunnel in san francisco starting today. yeah, let me get out of the way of these folks trying to get on the muni metro today. it begins the week long closure of the twin peaks tunnel after crews discovered some needed rehabilitation and repair work. they did a few trial runs previous weekends in june and july. you might remember that, but this means that the muni metro stations at west portal and forest hill will be closed through the 29th. so eight days just over a week. riders instead will use the k, l, and the m busses. the s shuttle trains as alternates. the subway will still operate from the embarcadero to castro. you can find more details about the twin peaks tunnel upgrades on the muni website. you go to sfmta.com/projects. you select that twin peaks tunnel project and they can get you a cool animation and walk through there. let's take a look at the map though. i want to show you where it is across the city. it's that purple line. it goes under, of course, twin peaks, not over twin peaks again,

that's a week long service, and that will mean the bus shuttles will go on the streets around the area. shouldn't be a major issue as far as the volume of traffic, but it will be an issue for those who do ride it. and again, this is because of a repair work that they discovered was needed. they did a few trial runs, but the heavy lifting is going to happen for this eight week or eight day. i'm sorry, travel time there. through the rest of the area, we're looking at a smooth flow of traffic this morning. nothing really unexpected on the roadways. we're now just starting to see the slowing from richmond down in toward berkeley for the east shore freeway. back to you. thank you mike. 641 for you this morning, new developments in oakland ahead of a very important vote there over private security. mayor sheng thao is expected to make the deciding vote, but it is already raising some questions. the ties some of her critics are making to this ongoing federal investigation. plus, a popular car event returns to tahoe. but let's just say leaders are hardly revved up. the new blowback for an event the locals don't quite embrace and get

6:49 am
health expert says you should not wait for the winter surge to get the shot. you're kind of playing russian roulette with this virus to try to time when you should get it. so it really depends on maybe how recently you might have been infected. we know that a lot of people got infected over this over the summer, and in that case, you might actually want to wait about 3 to 4 months before getting it. if you're high risk, i would recommend getting the updated booster sooner rather than later. if you're low to moderate risk, you might actually want to wait a couple of months so that you're protected when the inevitable winter surge happens. you can watch the full story coming up on the today show at 7 a.m. that's right. after today in the bay. well, happening tonight, santa clara county vector control launching a new round of spraying. this is after the discovery of mosquitoes with west nile. now the map is showing. right here is the areas where those teams will spray tonight with a truck mounted equipment. the spraying will start around 10 p.m. it should last up to four hours. residents where the spraying will happen
