august 24th. we are taking a live look outside. cloudy skies over san francisco even saw some drizzle on the drive in this morning. thank you so much for starting your saturday morning with us. i'm kira klapper cinthia pimentel has a quick look at our microclimate forecast and what is going on. is it august? usually our driest month, second to driest here in the bay area. it's our little fake fall that we've had late week to today here. good morning. nice to have you back. we are noticing those slick roadways right there through the san mateo bridge, the peninsula, those gloomy skies continue for the golden gate bridge on into marin and the headlands. breezy there right now. and we're also starting off with a moody morning down here in the south bay. it has been a quick moving system that we've seen, even bringing some higher rain towards parts of the northern state, and a light dusting highest peak of the sierra, so pretty rare. as we go into the final days of august. the good

news is it's starting to lift. we're going to call it just some morning sprinkles. better by this afternoon and definitely sunny and warmer into tomorrow with that summer heat right around the corner as we start next week. i'll be back with those details in a few minutes. kira back to you. all right. cynthia, thanks. new this morning. police in the north bay are investigating three different shootings overnight. the first happened in vallejo just before midnight. it was in a residential area at pennsylvania. and marin streets. then about a half mile north, police found another victim on busy sonoma boulevard near florida street. not long after that, another shooting, this one a few miles north at b.w. williams and louis brown drives. witnesses say someone was shot and killed there. police are only confirming with us that that shooting was a homicide. we do know that a sideshow was taking place in the same area. it's unclear if that shooting was related. to and that is

video of that sideshow in vallejo overnight at the intersection of louis brown and b.w. williams. drives you can see people standing in a ring of fire cars doing donuts around them. that sideshow, we're told, lasted about an hour before it moved south across the carquinez bridge to crockett. then richmond, and appeared to end in oakland. that's where oakland police tell us. they broke up the crowd after 20 minutes. a reminder sideshows are illegal. no word on any arrests. we stay in the east bay now, where we are following a deadly shooting at an apartment complex. police say a man's body was found with a gunshot wound to his head. neighbors say their dublin neighborhood is typically quiet, family friendly. as today in the bay jocelyn moran reports, they are shocked and nervous with that shooter on the run. police and sheriff's deputies are

investigating this shooting at the emerald park apartments, but people who live here say with no suspect in custody, there's a sense of worry and disbelief. it's generally a very quiet area, so any type of police activity is news to us, especially something as drastic as this. police investigating a deadly shooting on hacienda drive in dublin when they arrived, a man was found dead from a gunshot to his head. doherty elementary school nearby was put on lockdown. police said it was lifted shortly after four. no suspect has been taken into custody. one neighbor, who didn't want to show her face, says she received an email from the apartment complex, said they had sent an email out at that point saying that there was a situation that police were involved in, but there was no immediate threat and all they said was that we might need to park elsewhere. but she then checked her front cameras. i saw some police officers walking by my unit with their guns drawn, and she went online and learned what had happened. it seems like

it would have been reasonable to tell us to stay inside, instead of tell us that there was no threat. that really gives a false sense of security, i think. police say there is no apparent threat to public safety, but residents in the area are surprised by what happened. i'm still pretty in disbelief. it's you don't really hear much coming out of dublin, particularly in this area of dublin. so a lot of the a lot of our neighbors here are all family, families, young familie. so just any type of activity like this is surprising. yeah. how are you feeling right now safety wise? not great. you know, i i'm single, so walking by myself at night, i used to feel safe. i'm not so sure anymore. in dublin. jocelyn moran, nbc, bay area news. in other news, bart is back up and running this morning after major delays late last night. trains were being turned back to san

they're not seeing that in their neighborhoods. we also are you know, we're seeing that we are experiencing over 33% reduction in crimes across the whole city. we're seeing 17% reduction over the last three years across the whole city. look what happened last night. what happened today. and every time they say it's down, it's shooting, shooting, shooting. it's crime. crime. they're killing. they're doing everything. that was the first of five public safety town halls. the next is on monday at saint john's episcopal church on golden road in oakland. an update now on a story we brought to you earlier this week. a work van stolen from a small business owner has been found. the owner tells us the van was taken early thursday morning from rutland avenue in san jose. yesterday morning, it was found parked on continental drive in san jose. the owner says that a good samaritan recognized the van from our news story and called the number on the side of it.

i'm feeling great. you know, i feel great when the neighbor around here called me. i really appreciate everybody's effort to help me get my truck, you know? the owner tells us the van has some damage. we saw that some of his tools are missing from the back of the truck. that theft is still under investigation. no arrests have been made. to the peninsula. now, where? home video captures the moment a group of burglars targeted a pacifica neighborhood. it happened in the early morning hours of wednesday on heathcliff drive. police tell us about 20 cars were hit. in this video, you can see the thieves going from car to car down the street with a dark colored suv following closely behind them. the thieves were all able to get away if you were a victim or know someone who knows anything about this crime, you're asked to call pacifica police in santa clara asking for your help finding an invasive beetle. the shot hole borer, as it's known,

popular belief, it is the home of the mai tai. the original recipe calls for rum, lime juice, orange curacao, orgeat, and rock candy sirup. eventually, the owner, vic bergeron, introduced the cocktail to the hawaiian islands by partnering with popular hotels, which would then serve his drink. they will celebrate with a bar crawl tonight and a mai tai festival tomorrow at that emeryville location. it's a great location too, right on the water there. time now to check in with cinthia pimentel for a look at our microclimate forecast. typically a good day for a bar crawl in august, but this rain we're experiencing this morning is so odd. we've been going for those warm pumpkin spice lattes. you know, that's back. but as we go on into this afternoon and the weekend, i think the highs will be nice and refreshing this morning as you step out the door. temperatures are mild but gloomy skies throughout the bay, and you might see some wet
