demonstration on november 12th. >> protest apec's presence and the city's pouring of millions of dollars in resources taking it out of what we need for welfare and housing and education. >> reporter: apec is a big stage and there is room for everyone in it. even protesting. cell with the california trade justice coalition, they are part of a protest ahead of apec revolving around change. >> we are hoping the biden administration, you know, can lock in some finding climate standards, can lock in some policies that actually combat climate change. >> as for the no on apec demonstration, their website says it the shutdown that apec mobilization, they plan to meet at embarcadero plaza and march within sight of the mascone center. >> from what you know will it

at them because they include certain highway off-ramps. do you ride b.a.r.t? half a million people a day used to but the pandemic and crime scared most away. >> b.a.r.t does take on some of the characteristics of the neighborhoods we are part of. >> all week we expose what is wrong and what it will take for b.a.r.t to survive. we hear about issues with b.a.r.t all of the time. pretty much every day. ridership has plummeted, revenue right along with it. it is not just remote work that is keeping people away from all of this. a recent bay area poll found 78% say they would ride b.a.r.t more often if it was cleaner and safer. that is more than 3 out of 4 put off by fear of having their cell phone swiped or witnesses open drug use. so, how can b.a.r.t bring people back on board? wilson walker tells us it is complicated to

plane turned their phones towards the struggling documents trash to bad behavior and riders that feel like crime has been worse on b.a.r.t in recent years it has. >> 211, the victim was robbed at knife point for their phone. >> reporter: it is robberies that is the most violent crime reported by b.a.r.t police. they started rising back in 2015. while the numbers dropped during the pandemic, they did not drop as much as ridership. robberies for passenger trip are up in recent years and a similar trend can be seen with aggravated assaults. >> we heard very clearly from our passengers that they want to see more uniform presence on the trains from our swarn police officers and our unarmed civilians. >> b.a.r.t's new chief of police says the the answer to crime and rider anxiety is more patrols, the current response time to serious incidents is four minutes >> that is exactly how quick you can do it when you are

looking for incidents that just occurred >> 4,000 cameras across the system. while the station activity can be reviewed in seconds, the train cameras can not. >> correct. >> the videos from the trains currently are a system that is recorded on individual train cars. >> reporter: b.a.r.t is hoping to upgrade from thumb drives to realtime access. but crime like robberies, assaults, that is just one part of what has riders concerned. >> they have not done anything about the homeless. they are laying all over the place. they are doing crack, this or that. >> hello, i am going to touch your arm and say how are you. >> reporter: crisis intervention specialists are deployed offering help to those that might accept it but they often serve as first responders every few days, sometimes several times a day b.a.r.t reports a staff member reviving a passenger who could become the next overdose fatality. >> in the meantime we have to ask you to sit up and not be under your blanket on the train. >> reporter: another part of the strategy is the new fair

our communities every day but they are moving through the transit system that connects all of us. how do you insulate b.a.r.t from all of that or well enough that the passengers that became uncomfortable start feeling better about getting back on board? nowhere is b.a.r.t more under utilized than in the south bay. vta is paying for the santa clara county extension, despite delays and cost overruns pushing things back it is determined to push ahead. >> how much is too much? we don't know. it will never be cheaper than it is now. >> here is the problem, though. they are only seeing 10% of the ridership they were expecting. with the initial extension. we will dig into that problem tomorrow night at 11:00. we want to hear about your experiences on b.a.r.t since our series started airing, a lot of viewers have been tagging kpix on social media.

. it has been four years since dozens of families lives were turned upside down when this devastated boat fire killed 34 people, many of them from here in the bay area. tonight, the ship's captain is facing down the possibility of 10 years in prison. he was found guilty of seamans manslaughter for abandoning ship and not warning the people on board the ship about that fire. that fire spread unchecked leading to a horrifying death for those 34 people including a family of three from the santa cruz area. >> at first i was happy, now it is not really happiness t. is relief. nothing is going to bring our loved ones back to

us. nothing. >> set to be sentenced in february. a jet blue flight to boston did not make it to the runway at sfo before it crashed. the good news it bumped into a service truck, everyone was delayed because they had to taxi back to the gate and unload. they were booked on other flights >> your plane did delayed because your jet gets hit by a service truck. it is beginning to look a lot like ski season there is the view from the top of the siberia express in tahoe. the resort said to open in just over two weeks. in the meantime, the only sliding you will do is on the roads if you forget your chains you will need them to get passed the caltrans checkpoint. trucks are required to carry them passed twin bridges on highway 50. you

a clouds and sun. offshore winds kicking in on wednesday. more cloud cover and an outside chance of a shower late this week. let's take a look at what is happening on the big picture. all of the activity pushed off to the east. more showers off shore. switching over to future cast. it does a good job trying making the showers go into the bay area. they will fall apart. plenty of sunshine by tomorrow afternoon. full sunshine in the forecast, once again, on wednesday, a few high clouds, filtering the sun during the afternoon. you can tell the difference with the additional sunshine when you compare today's solarnumbers for tomorrow and wednesday. making the most out of our whopping 10 hours or 24 minutes of daylight over the next couple of days. there are 0 rain chances through the rest of the week. limited. thursday night, friday, friday night, a 20-30% chance. a better chance shaping up by monday night,

monday night of next week. that can go either way. bringing in a good chance of rain already on monday. the other one, wednesday night into thursday. still a wide variety of possibilities in the extended time frame. the off shore winds will kick in. 10-15 miles an hour. they will be noticeable by late tuesday night into wednesday. strongest gusts in the 30-40 mile-an-hour range. we added moisture to the fire fuels across the bay area. the fire should not be sky high. right now, looking up from sales force tower, the temperatures retreating to the firsts with the warmest spots holding on to 60 degrees, later on tonight, a mix of 40s and 50s with partial clearing, the temperatures dropping off quickly. pretty close to normal for this time of the year and then we are going to warm up, everybody's temperatures will be within two to three degrees above average putting us in the upper 60s the warmest spots

will stay below 70. middle to upper 60s midland in the east bay. fremont, down to the peninsula. the coolest spots, along the coast, lower 60s. half-moon bay, middle 60s for san francisco, oakland, a degree or two below average. the temperatures in the north bay, similar to other parts of the oakland area. the warmest spots staying below 70 degrees, to go along with the warmer temperatures, the off shore winds on wednesday we will have warmer temperatures. back in the 70s for inland parts of the bay area. back down to slightly below average temperatures, cloud cover on friday with that outside chance of a shower but we are not confident enough in that at this point to add raindrops to the seven-day forecast just yet. it is a possibility as we finish off the workweek. maybe monday turns out to be wetter than we are anticipating. cautious with the rain chances that far down-the-line in the forecast. new data in. continuing to evaluate that heading through

yu shows us they probably need someone to pinch them after their championship dreams came true. >> east bay panthers going into our record books as the first ever. >> it was a sweet celebration for a oakland youth football team that had to fight pretty tough battles off of the field. they won the division 2 league championship in sacramento this past weekend after gun violence forced them out of their practice field in september. >> it feels good. we made history. we are the first youth to win in the east bay in history. >> this 13-year-old 12u devicive end slowed us his championship ring. the panthers beat the junior jackets, 26-14. >> for him to get a ring and for me to see the smile on his face. it is keeping him focused. that is great to me. then my son is not on the streets as long as he is safe
