meadow ski resort four decades ago. the family of fallen oakland police officer called him a hero today during an emotional service. he was falling in oakland and castro valley church. they marched in formation when officer le first arrived. he was shot and killed during a burglary of a cannabis business late last month. family members said le loved

. this ferry probably should of stayed in the harbor. it was only carrying crew through washington san juan islands when waves came crashing over the cars, thankfully no damage, the cars need a wash before they rust. that would of scared me. closer to home it looks like a hurricane hit this north bay class room.

it was the very expensive and unfortunate work of vandals. as andrea nakano reports the school's response to whoever did it is not what you would expect. >> reporter: the superintendent tells me this incident happened about a week ago. custodians left for the night. when they returned the next morning they were stunned at the damage left behind. it was an act of vandalism that shocked the school community. every single piece of the furniture was tossed. school supplies scattered, nothing left untouched. >> it was devastating. in person it was worse than the photos that i sent you. i have not seen anything quite like that before. it was complete destruction. >> lisa is the superintendent of the wright elementary school. tk-8. >> it was violating to the school community itself.

the staff, the students, the families. >> the vandals broke the windows of two seventh and 8th grade classrooms, one that was used to teach english and the other science. teachers from the entire district come together to help set up a temporary class room for the students and to try to cleanup as much of this mess as they can. >> we need to replace the floor, it was not able to be cleaned given the paint everywhere. there was a cart overturned. the teacher's laptop was destroyed. and apple tv was destroyed. >> reporter: the district is working with the sheriff's department tofully catch those responsible. the superintendent says at this point there is no evidence to indicate whether or not current or former students are responsible for this crime. >> it is my hope that if we are able to identify who is responsible for this.

they are angry and beneath the anger they are hurt, someone is hurting, i am hopeful they can get the help that they need. >> the district hopes the cost to repair the damage will be more than $40,000 but hopefully insurance will cover most of cost. more now at the deadly avalanche in palisades tahoe. it is the second in that area in four years n2020 when part of the resort was still alpine meadows, one skier died and another hurt when the snow gave way in an area called the subway run. over four decades ago seven people lost their lives in another avalanche in alpine meadows, one filmmaker made the documentary about it. >> it is right from the top right to the base. >> the netflix series "buried" tells the stories of the ski patrol and avalanche teams on duty and had to respond to this 1982 disaster and how the

tomorrow, cloudy conditions taking over. staying dry for the end of the weekend. the next rainmaker, diving down with showers possible before the sun comes up. the northern half of the bay area, it looks like a wet start to the weekend. the rain will be the latest to arrive in the santa clara mountains and a good chance of moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall moving across the bay area especially saturday afternoon and evening and it is another snow maker for the sierra. the showers wind down. another mix of clouds and sunshine for the second half of the weekend on sunday. rainfall amounts for the weather prediction center, generally ranges from half an inch to an inch of rainfall. that is a bump up from what they were saying earlier today, starting to fall in line with the new forecast model data. parts of north bay and higher elevations. more likely to pick up rainfall amounts in the inch, inch and a half range. talking about one to two feet

of snow in the bay area. travel will be discouraged on u.s. 50 and again on i-80. temperatures are dropping off as we look to the mark hopkins hotel. a lot of 40s to 50 degrees. plenty of 30s inland tomorrow morning, that sounds cold. it is chilly. now, high temperatures tomorrow, going to climb up to very close to normal. only one, two, three degrees below normal for highs tomorrow, everybody from 53-56 degrees, not much variation from spot to spot. does not matter if you are around the coast or farther inland. everyone will be in the lower 60s the temperatures are not going to change much as we head through the extended forecast. the range of temperatures will not change much. everybody within three to four degrees of each other. over the next seven-days, the temperatures we will watch, will be on saturday, heavier rain headed in. gusty winds as well and a dry break sunday, monday, continuing on tuesday and
