11:17 pm
>> there's a good amount of rain coming in the middle of the week, first, we get one more day that is going to be just as nice as the one you just had. and if you were preoccupied today, let me show you what we did. the daytime highs got into the low and mid 70s and a beautiful day today of a few high clouds that were coming over head. if we look at the numbers in the south bay, you go into the mid-70s tomorrow. tomorrow is about two degrees in general for most spots warmer. tomorrow is the warmest day, today we tied a couple of records. san jose tied it, you broke it in redwood city by a couple of degrees. in the northbay you can see your numbers are going to the mid-70s, only one more day like this, by tuesday we will start pulling back down. then the rain comes in on wednesday, so let's say goodbye to the virtual map and bring in some of the forecast imagery and get specifics on this. we're close enough to the system we can see the leading edge of it in the high-resolution forecast models. it gives us a good idea at this point to start thinking
11:18 pm
about timing with the caveat that considering it's sunday right now and we're looking ahead to wednesday morning, there is still some time for the timing of the system to change a little bit, but if we've already got this within the sites of the high-resolution forecast models, it's prudent to start looking at it to give you an idea where timing is at this point, we see the leading edge of the showers arriving in the late morning hours in the northbay and working their way down to the heart of the bay by the time we get into the early afternoon. it's the first half of the day when it's in the northbay, and then it's the second half of the day at this point when it overtakes everybody else. think morning commute northbay, evening commute for everybody from the golden gate south. we will look at this another way, because one of the best ways to look at this system is to gauge the rainfall by using what we would call the ensemble forecast model, which is probably the most responsible way to start gauging rainfall amounts, and, to a degree, also timing. watch what happens when we color in the map on this. by the time we
11:19 pm
got into the line:00 hour on wednesday, we've already gotten some rain in northbay. it hasn't been a deluge, but we've gotten .2 of rain. watch the numbers start ticking upwards, now we're later in the morning, 10:00 in the morning. let's advance a little more, now we're looking at the early afternoon. by this point, the northbay has already accumulated well over an engine we're starting to see the rain move into the rest of the bay. as we go through the late afternoon, the numbers start ticking up for everybody else, this gets toward evening. the total is over two inches in the northbay and by thursday morning, you're looking at total accumulation of an inch and a quarter in the south bay. that helps us gage where we are with both amounts of rain, but also the timing of it. and stay on top of this forecast with us, what's the take away from rainfall totals like that? as the system comes in? it's
11:20 pm
possible, likely in fact that we will have ponding waters on roadways, low-lying intersections that flood again, and these rainfall totals are comparable to the storm that came through the end of last week which we did lead to some localized flooding on streams and creeks in the northbay. it's likely this happens again with this one. that's the take away as we look ahead toward wednesday and thursday, wednesday is a first alert weather day, we've already designated it for that. we may be looking at thursday as we get closer to the system, but here's the most rainy showing up right here, as we look across the rest of the seven-day forecast, there are other systems back here, we're going to give these more time to play out but we will broadbrush the notion that from thursday into the weekend there's a chance of showers on each one of these days, and we will have more detail as we get closer to it. andrea, back to you. >> thanks, darren. gun control groups making a pitch to lawmaker test test test
