kpix home of super bowl lvii between the 49ers and the chiefs. now at 11:00. after the highs and lows of sunday's game. 9ers fans are not the only one celebrating the team punching their ticket to the super bowl. why bay area businesses are getting ready. if you are ready to hit the road to sin city to see them play yourself there is one big number you need to know. plus. >> i did not know how it was going to end. i thought i was going to plummet to my death. >> reporter: the disturbing series of events that led to this woman clinging to the hood of a speeding car. from kpix, this is the late news with sara donchey on cbs news bay area. if you made it to work today consider it a major achievement. 9ers fans went to hell and back and might have done too much celebrating for a

sunday night. i am sara donchey alongside my friend vern glenn. wow! vern, a lot of us woke up saying did that really happen? >> it is not supposed to be easy. this is my 6th super bowl. we have seen blown leads, we all have. i would of loved to have been a fly on the wall in that 9ers locker room at halftime because through the first two quarters of the game it did not look there were any answers. but i have been around the game a long time and to know a play or two, a couple fourth down decisions can flip a game. what happened? well, the 49ers, a race, a franchise second biggest playoff deficit are headed to the second super bowl in the last five seasons. 34/31 over the lions, this was not a movie. and there was no big halftime speech. >> we just kept fighting, man.

they got off to a hot start. you know, hats off to them. but, you go there at halftime, down 17 and win or go home situation what else is there to talk about? it is all about making playsa the that point. you do it or go home. >> i think we are pissed off. the first half was not just that we were down 17 it was the way that we would have been down. that would have been a rough way to end it. i was so proud of the guys. they did not care about anything but finding a way to win. >> yeah, great teams find a way to win. now, vegas, the sports books, they have the 49ers as a 1-1/2 point favorite to hoist the lombardi trophy as super bowl champs, if you can believe that. >> i know you have been talking on tv all day. this is the first time you are here on the 11:00 since this happened. how are you feeling at the end of the first half? >> i was concerned. i would be lying if i wasn't. i was

not long before the 9ers captured another super bowl ring. >> it was a big deal. i thought we were going to have super bowls every year. get to the super bowl but we lost a few. >> reporter: that was 1955, the 5th title. since then, he has a collection. he got to know the old timers that used to stop by and once played across the street at the 49ers first home. the success of the new niner gang is a boom for local sports bar and employees. >> i do see that on game days a lot of the bars around here do better as well because of the spin off from here. >> reporter: amy donovan has been working here for a little more than a year. >> people closeout their checks in a little happier fashion than when they lose. i say we make double the money than on another sunday. >> people tend to get exoited and spend more money and -- get whited and spend more money and buy drinks for their friends

. tonight, a third body has been pulled from the water off of half moon bay near the site of where a small homebuilt plane crashed earlier this month. investigators have not confirmed this was one of the four people on board. the bodies of two female passengers were previously recovered the fourth person is still missing. >> this scene in l.a. was no hollywood stunt. the woman clinging to the hood of this car, she was trying to stop the driver from stealing her dog. she was eating outside and someone snatched her dog and

took off. >> i am like i am not letting this car go. i held on to the windshield wipers and before i knew it we were driving down the block and picking up speed and i was freaking out for my life suddenly. >> she fell off about a block later and as you saw in that interview she is okay. but the dog napper is still on the run with her pet. all right, this has been an interesting time of year to plan, paul, for what we are wearing. typically. we were in jabet mode. all of a sudden, suddenly nice outside. i know we are in for more changes. >> right. >> rain is going to return, colder temperatures are going to return, one more dry mild day to go tomorrow. it is nice to have this little taste of spring with us for the past couple of days, take a look at the big picture pattern and how things are going to change the storm system impacting our weather. off shore tomorrow that leaves with us dry conditions and temperatures not as warm as today. still, 5-10

degrees above average. then, the storm system directing an atmospheric river arrives on wednesday. that is the big story this week. let's track it with future cast. we have a mix of clouds and sunshine with us on tuesday. gradually thickening clouds during the afternoon. stay dry during the daylight hours, a chance for the north bay in the evening, not going to amount for much there. there is all of the rain hanging out of the coast. let's zoom in, here it comes, approaching the coast by sunrise on wednesday. the bay area, it should be dry in the morning commute. on wednesday, hitting the coast by late morning into early afternoon. and, once it moves in, we will be seeing bands of heavy rain moving in from west to east throughout the afternoon into the evening and even early overnight, the wednesday afternoon and evening commute is a salute mess. we have an option -- is it is a mess.

trekking across the bay area wednesday evening, the heaviest rain finally pushing off to the east after midnight on wednesday night. we still have lingering off and on showers in the forecast throughout the day on thursday. flooding potential and wind damage potential will be maximized in the wednesday afternoon and evening time frame. talking about an inch to 2-1/2 inches of rain on a widespread basis for higher in the north bay. even more than that in the coastal ranges of sonoma county and the santa cruz mountains, it brings in the possibility of localized flooding, the rain is falling in a short amount of time. the wind energy with this will be noticeable. the winds not strong during dat i tomorrow. picking up already as the sun comes up on wednesday with the strongest winds with the narrow cold front rainband. talking about 40-50 mile-an-hour rain gusts along the coast. be prepared for downed branches, entire trees, the possibility of power outages, it will be a snow maker in the sierra. high at first but dropping down in

the progression of the system. end of the week and the weekend, close to a foot of snow at lake level. the second system dropping more snow. talking 2-3 feet at lake level with 4-5 feet in the higher elevations. by the time it is all said and done with the next system coming in for the second half of the weekend. more rain and wind to the bay area. right now, warm out there. calm, the temperatures in the 50s to around 60. we will drop down to the middle to upper 40s to 50 degrees by tomorrow morning. a quick check of tomorrow's high temperatures as we will zoom around the map. mild, 10 degrees above average. reaching up into the lower 70s. other temperatures, mostly in the middle portion of the 60s. middle to upper 60s, inland, east bay. 68 for redwood city. 61 in half moon bay. coolest spot on the map. 60s in oakland and san francisco and middle portion of the 60s for the north bay as well. again, soak up the warmth while you can. cooler temperatures to go along with that progression of rain systems heading our way. dropping down to near normal

its start in the '70s when the 9ers could be best described as awful. the owner made the team an offer and as john ramos reports, it cost him a lot but paid off big. >> reporter: he noticed an abandoned 7/11 across the street and thought it would make a good location for a restaurant. it was 1972. >> all of those were deli cases, empty, full of slurpy cups. >> reporter: he opened the canyon inn, serving up hamburgers that his customers loved. his love was reserved for the 49ers. he remembered watching his heroes playing at kezar the team never had a lot of success. in 1981 he offered to host a rally for the team in his parking lot to stir up local spirit. >> he says, you know tim? the only way you will get these guys up here is if you give something away. i started

in l.a. started hoisting the shuttle into ready for lift off mode. it will be the first and only shuttle on display vertically. now to a majestic symbol of the america west. the mighty buffalo whose size and strength celebrate it in song and verse. the poets probably never saw one move like this. we added the sound effects because we could innocent not. he was trying to follow his herd when he became the but of all of their jokes for the rest of winter. even if you are not a football fan there is a hero we can all get behind. they call him bark purdy

it goes without saying 9ers fans and yes, chiefs fans, are happy about the match up going into super bowl sunday. there is a group of people with no interest in football whatsoever that is usually still excited about the big game. and that is dog lovers because they have the puppy bowl to look forward to.
