one of the three servicemembers who were killed. et. >> reporter: she's heartbroken after her 24-year-old daughter kennedy was one of three u.s. servicemembers killed over the weekend in what the pentagon said was a drone strike on the base. all from georgia. >> when she went into the reserves, i never thought she would be the one that would see this type of action. >> reporter: the attack happened early sunday morning near the sleeping quarters on the base known as tower 22. pentagon officials tell cbs news trone was returning from a mission in syria. the base's air defense system had been temporarily taken off line to allow the u.s. drone to land safely. president biden blamed the attack on militants backed by iran and says the u.s. will respond. >> we do not seek another war. we will respond. we'll do that on our schedule.

>> reporter: members of congress are also weighing in on how the u.s. retaliates. >> i think we have to be extremely careful about what our next steps are. >> reporter: iran has denied involvement in the strike, which also injured more than 40 other servicemembers, but an iran-backed militia says it did launch attacks in the the drone is similar to those used -- that iran has supplied to russia in its invasion to ukraine. in addition to the soldiers that were killed, there were about 40 other troops that were injured here. >> jarred, thank you very much. the fallout continues for the u.n. agency for palestinian refugees following the bombshell allegations that a dozen staffers took part in the october 7th terror attack. the united nations

secretary of state general is set to meet today with key donor nations which has since suspended funding. s's debora patta has more from tel aviv. >> reporter: over 2 million people in gaza rely on the u.n. relief agency and its 13,000 workers for access to aid, now amid damning allegations, 15 countries and the european union have suspended their funding. in a document given to the u.n., israel accuses 12 employees of being involved in the october 7th hamas attack including the kidnapping of israeli citizens, but they have yet to provide and launched an internal investigation, but the suspension of funding could not have come at a worst time. gaza is on the brink of famine. we want them to release the hostages, samira hassan told us, and sop this war. it is a cry shared by many of

the judge said hill made improper comments to the jury but ruled the comments did not influence the verdict. murdaugh's attorney says the cbs los angeles reports an arrest has been made in connection with six bodie authorities say five men have been arrested after six bodies were discovered last week. they say the murders related to a dispute over marijuana. the suspects were identified as five men in their 20s and 30s and officials say the suspects were being held without bail pending a review of potential charges by the district attorney's office. and the "wichita eagle" reports police have discovered a truck thought to have been used in the theft of a jackie robinson statue. authorities say they believe this pickup truck, which was found abandoned, was used to steal a bronze statue of jackie robinson that stood at mcadams park in wichita.tue last thursd. officials say the statue is valued at around $75,000. still to come, a first-of-its-kind brain chip is implanted in a human.
