with elizabeth cook. police believe a teenager had the tools and the technology to cause a lot of harm. the troubling discovery in a bay area city struggling with youth violence. it is a dry day in the bay area but we are gearing up for heavy showers rolling into this weekend forecast. the newest pro baseball team. where they will call home. we have been reporting on a series of violent incidents at schools in santa rosa. now, a troubling new discovery. police say a teenager has been manufacturing firearms in his own home. anne makovec has the story. >> a santa rosa teenager is in jail, accused of printing components for what are called

ghost guns. santa rosa police say they rated his homes yesterday while he was in class at montgomery high school. they say he found a 3-d printer along with the parts he had already printed illegally, including a completed handle and ammunition as well as gained items. detectives went to the school and arrested him after class. this is the latest incident involving a weapon among students in santa rosa. there were stabbings on campus including one last year that killed a 16-year-old. two of the three people detained in that deadly shooting after the kansas city chiefs super bowl parade are juveniles. one person died and nearly 2 dozen more were injured, many of them children. rapid gunshots rang out at a gathering of close to 1 million people. police say that this tackle in the crowd helped detain one of the people who might be connected to the shooting. they think -- thank the good samaritans who jumped into motion. >> people reacted without thinking.

>> police recovered several firearms. it started as a dispute between people. they have not found anything that would indicate any ties to terrorism or homegrown violent extremism. we now know the person who died in the shooting was lisa lopez-galvan , a mother of two and popular radio d.j. in the kansas city area. a third person has died after an early-morning crash on the bay bridge. it happened near the treasure island exit. investigators say a mini cooper stalled and the people inside called for help . while they were waiting, a toyota tacoma slammed into the car. two people inside the mini cooper were pronounced dead and a third later died at the hospital. the driver of the tacoma has major injuries. trauma services when a longer preoperative regional medical center in san jose. they are set to end august 12. officials say the need has been steadily declining. instead, he plans to invest $10 million into its emergency department, expanding the number of beds from 42 to 63. we are learning

how many jobs will be eliminated at cisco systems, the san jose based tech firm says it is cutting 400 jobs around the world. that amounts to 5% of its workforce. this comes as the internetworking company is projecting slower demand for its product sand followed other recent layoffs in the tech sector including at microsoft and google. onto first alert weather. a chance of a few showers today ahead of the next major storms this weekend. meteorologist jessica burch is tracking them. >> we felt the showers widespread throughout the bay area for our valentine's day forecast. today and tomorrow, we are getting that dry break. this weekend's event will be a lot more impactful for us, widespread throughout the bay. he remembered two weeks ago when we had the back-to-back atmospherically prevents. localized flooding, downed

trees and power outages. showers start rolling in from offshore. at the beginning, it starts off with light rain. this is what it is looking like on our large-scale models. that trough developing well out into the pacific. we see the second storm move in the sunday night into monday morning. this will kick off our work week and last through our tuesday forecast too. these also are back-to-back atmospherically prevents and we will see them continue to build into the california coastline lasting into next week. we will see 7 inches of rain down through areas south. along the peninsula, we are expecting around 3 inches. that is not only for us in the bay but all the way and sierra tahoe, anywhere up to 30 inches of snow. areas of kirkwood into bear valley . let's take a step back and enjoy the dry

day. here in the bay area, light winds moving in from offshore. we also have daytime highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s. a cool, cloudy day for us. we will see a repeat for that tomorrow and then here we go into the weekend forecast. let's take a look at that. this shows you what the weather will look like. we have rainy conditions starting up saturday morning. we saw that on the models. we see a little bit of a break as we gear up for the second storm. we have a chance of thunderstorm activity monday into tuesday. we will keep you updated on that. here is a look from the uc berkeley central sierra snow lavin soda springs. as of this morning, they have 13 inches of snowfall in just 24 hours with more on the way. a lot of you may be heading to the snow for this presidents' day holiday weekend. the bay area's new pro baseball team just announced a

location of their home field. the oakland ballers, are setting their sights on raimondi park in west oakland. our morning team talked to the cofounders about what drew them to this site. spent part of the reason why we did this from the beginning is to say that the rich legacy of baseball that is oakland needs to continue. if you know that legacy of baseball, you know raimondi park. it is the most historical park in the world . the oakland tribune once said more baseball players have gotten their start at raimondi park than any other park in the country. it is a truly historic park, probably the most historic park in oakland, maybe only second to the coliseum. >> it is fantastic because it gives oakland a touchstone to the legacy and i just love that. i understand the site has no place for fans to sit, no parking spaces. you have

raised money from private investigators to make upgrades. i believe that if we build it, they will come. when will the improvements be done in time? >> we have put together a package of $1.6 million that includes improvements to the playing space with making pro quality, doing the kinds of things you need to do to have the experience that we want to have. that will be available for us for the games we want to play and available to the community for the other 317 days that we have little league events and places. this could be one of the premier play spaces for baseball in oakland. >> you talked a little bit about the history of raimondi park being named after a baseball player . let's talk a little bit about the importance. >> it is a bit industrial and might revitalize in just a bit. >> it is important. we are not

trying to do this in a vacuum or change a neighborhood. we are trying to work with all of the community stakeholders and elected officials. we have held a few community meetings already. we are seeing what are the concerns for the people living around the ballpark area. we are engaging with them and working through parking issues, traffic issues. we are not doing this by ourselves. we are all doing it together. baseball in oakland belongs to all of us. >> these things are built on communities. we intend to build with the community. this is a community team. it is an opportunity to build the team on the place we are going to play together. >> oakland mayor posted on x,

san jose's raging waters amusement park is ready for a come back. leaders say the park is looking to reopen under new management. the park shut down when the company that had been running it ended its lease last year. the city has been looking for a new company to take over the lease and it has selected california dreaming entertainment. >> this is a double down. the city is able to say, we care about making sure you have access to safe, equitable, and affordable experiences. >> the plan requires approval from the city council. officials say the selection process for a long-term park operator is ongoing. today, the a's are meeting with oakland city officials and

alameda county officials to discuss a lease extension at the coliseum. the team is reportedly negotiating an extension to stick around until their billion-dollar ballpark is built in vegas. it is supposed to be done in 2028. if the a's don't stay at the coliseum, there was a possibility they could temporarily move to sacramento, salt lake city, or even across the bay at oracle park. regardless of where they are, the a's will have the first woman ever hired to be a primary play-by-play announcer in major league baseball history. our andrea nakano has her story. >> jenny r will be the first primary play-by-play announcer. >> jenny cavnar has come along way since taking a sports reporter job in san diego. she is a creative storyteller, a polished pre-and post game show host and now will be calling a's games on tv. >> getting the job in san diego was a dream. going home to colorado where i was born and

it is not your typical afterschool activity. some teens in oakland are attending circus school. they are finding community while keeping the performance art alive. >> this is high school senior amelia. when she is not

studying, you can find her getting ready to practice at her circus school. >> i have been doing circus since i was really little. it is a skill that is good to have if you do any sort of disciplines. >> emelia spent over 15 hours a week at the kinetic art center in oakland. here, she does everything from juggling, acrobatics. >> i have learned that it is okay to try things that are scary and even maybe feel a little bit dangerous. if you do them in a safe environment, you can learn a lot and expand your comfort zone. >> in these walls, she is practicing balancing, counting, working with teammates. >> it does not feel like it is a dying breed because i am here all the time. it seems like a bigger community when you are a part of it. >> the troop is currently prepping for their upcoming circus show. already, they have

been a hit under the big top. amelia and six of her classmates auditioned and were accepted into the only traveling circus in the country. she will travel throughout new england for 10 weeks, performing. owner victoria says the magic has been happening in this warehouse since 2009, sharing these young performers is why she keeps going. >> all of the sudden i will here, i did it and i know it is someone who has been struggling really hard to try to get a trick. all of the sudden, it all came together for them. that is very rewarding. that, and the fact that i can hire all of these artists. >> i have been doing it for so long. it is hard to imagine my life without it. >> with a few weeks until her last performance, amelia is taking in every jump and moment. >> this production runs from march 1 through march 24 at the
