to keep escorting customers for at least the next month or as long as theft is an issue. san francisco police say they just pulled off a 44-pound drug bust. not 44-grams, 44-pounds of fentanyl and meth. officers seized it during raids on several east bay homes this week. they also made four arrests. police say it's part of an operation aimed at intercepting drugs heading for the tenderloin. people literally hung out of windows and firefighters were swinging from ropes. the risky rescues when a new york city building went up in flames. and later in the show in sports, massive new contract being handed out by the golden state warriors. but not for a player. it's for steve kerr who now owns the richest head coach contract in nba history. a veil of high clouds over the bay area today, but that made for a spectacular sunset as the sun went down from the

people were dangling out of windows and hanging on their fire escapes when a new york city apartment building caught fire today. and firefighters on ropes had to rescue them in the scariest way to believe. check out this aerial video of firefighters rappeling down the burning building in harlem to pull people to safety. there

was apparently so much smoke that people could not escape through the front door of the six-story building. one person even jumped out of the window. firefighters managed to rescue 18 people in total. one died at the hospital later. it is unclear tonight how that fire started. odysseus has fallen. the moon lander is apparently sitting sideways of touching down on the lunar service yesterday. the texas-based company that built it thinks the spacecraft tripped over one of its own six feet. but the craft is alive and well. mission control can still send communications to the machine, and its solar panels appear to be in working order keeping it fully charged. they're still assessing how much work it will actually be able to do up there. who hasn't wanted to just lay down at work? >> i was going to say a lot of people tip over late on a friday. it's for other reasons, but it does happen. especially at this hour.

>> spacecraft, they're just like us. okay, that's about as profound as we come here. let's look at what's happening weather-wise heading into the last weekend of february. finally we're in for a mostly dry weekend. there is a storm system hanging out, but it's somewhere loitering offshore. it's not in a big hurry to move. and this is just going to remain almost stationary over the next 36 to 48 hours. there will be some cloud cover on sunday, but i think any chance of showers will hold off until after sunset sunday evening, and more likely after midnight sunday night. short term, some clouds streaming through the skies. temperatures dropping at a leisurely pace. mid-40s and mid to upper 50s at the moment. everybody will even out throughout the rest of tonight. temperatures by saturday morning starting off in the 40s across the board. anywhere from the low 40s to the upper 40s for warmer spots, but even the chilliest locations i think stay out of the 30s. then temperatures tomorrow will be the warmest we see for awhile.

a good five to ten degrees above average. up to the mid-70s in san jose. low to mid-70s throughout the santa clara valley. most inland spots around 70 degrees. bay side and fremont at 72. same in redwood city. along the coast, half moon bay gets into the upper 60s. same thing in san francisco. great for the chinese new year parade. north bay temperatures around or up to 70 degrees. 72 in santa rosa. just a degree below that as we look at the forecast for napa. let's check out the hour by hour forecast for the chinese new year parade. temperatures as the crowds are gathering in the late afternoon, still in the upper 60s and cooling off at a leisurely pace throughout the rest of saturday evening. still in the upper 50s by 8:00. really not that much cooler if you're staying out later in the evening. and no hint of rainfall, unlike last year's soggy conditions. a nice turn around from a year ago. the rain will eventually return.

let's look at futurecast. we have plenty of sunshine overhead tomorrow. the clouds start to build in on sunday. high clouds at first becoming thicker throughout the day, but we stay dry during the daylight hours. maybe a passing sprinkle is about it. the shower chances go up through sunday evening and overnight, but light to moderate rain showers i think is all we'll be looking at throughout the day on monday. not an impactful system. limited rainfall accumulations. by monday evening, the last of the showers quieting down. less than a quarter inch of rainfall. anything more than a tenth is probably a stretch at this point. but just enough to wet down the ground and make a little bit of a mess on the roads for the afternoon commute on monday. but then more rain will add up later next week. light showers in the forecast on thursday, and then heavier rain will start to add up friday with another wave of heavier rain on saturday. don't take the specific numbers of the bank just yet. it's a little too soon for that. just want to give a sense of the overall pattern we're look at to finish the month of
