placed him on administrative leave. one more thing, campus rebuilt after the tub fire. thank you so much for joining us, i'm andrea nakano. >> i'm brian hackney. after a few dry days, more rain to the bay area. taking a live look outside. clouds floating in over san francisco. just by way of setting the stage for what's happening now. with that we'll find out. darren peck? >> reporter: it will take its time, but the rain is coming over the next two hours. if we look at first alert doppler, the line of rain that's coming in to sonoma county. the weak cold front that is about to get itself in that position, right here in the corner. they see that beautifully. there we are at 5:00. watch that organized line get down to the heart of sonoma county by the time we get to 8:30, 8:45. and it is also at this point, so they are feeling it too. it will take their time and doesn't get down to the golden gate until we get to the 11:00 hour. we

are seeing some of the best rain come across the city. richmond, san pablo bay. this is not going to be a downpour, but it will be enough rain. things will be slick. that line will fall apart and get down to the santa clara valley by midnight. then it peters out. if you look at how much rain we will get from this, it's not a whole lot. there is another one coming after this on tuesday morning. so when we get back to together again in the complete first alert forecast. the next system on tuesday morning. in the meantime here is monday. daytime highs in the low to mid-60s for the most part. when you look at the north bay numbers, you will probably struggle to make it into the mid to upper 50s. i'll see you in a bit guys. after the second system, a big warm up. >> all right, thanks. boeing is now the target of the department of justice investigation. it stems from the incident in january when a door plug broke off in the middle of the alaska airlines

flight. the airline said it is cooperating with the inquiry and doesn't believe it is the target of the investigation. boeing has no comment. the probe would also let the justice department know whether boeing complied with an earlier settlement from an investigation following two deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019. it comes after a tough week for united airlines, several planes have had problems, just as the busy spring travel season is taking off. max darrow spoke with the pilot about their recent trouble in the skies. >> reporter: the last week or so has seemed like a bumpy ride for airline travel especially for united airlines. it begs the question, are incidents happening more frequently or are people paying more attention to them? a commercial airline pilot with decades of experience tells me it's likely the ladder. >> oh my goodness. look at the back of the plane, man. >> reporter: over the course of a week, six united airlines flights have had problems. some turned off and turned around,

others had to make emergency landings. two of those flights left sfo diverted to lax. one for a hydraulics problem, the other had a tire fall off during takeoff. >> that is never a good look for anyone. >> reporter: scott miller is a pilot for a major airline at san jose state. while it was a turbulent week for united. >> i don't see a rise in the incidents that are occurring. >> reporter: pilots are trained to deal with the unexpected and uncommon. >> we spend 90% of our training time working on things that may only occur 1% of the time. even though it appears united is having a bad week, in reality everything is working at united airlines because everyone is able to get back on the ground in one piece. unfortunately with a little disruption, be able to carry on their trip. >> reporter: he did say a

midair engine fire and the wheel debacle are incredibly rare situations. >> the thing that's more striking to me is that these two rare incidents happened in close proximity of time. >> reporter: miller believes the dramatic alaska airlines incident recently sparked the higher level of scrutiny airlines operations, but thinks it really started back in 2018 after the first deadly crash involving a boeing max jet. however, some travelers aren't discouraged. >> do you think about how often those things happen? and you just have to believe this, you know? they are rare. >> because of the changes made in safety tracking and the safety management systems over the last 20 years in the united states, we have enjoyed the longest stretch of airline safety in the history of this country. even with these incidents, i will see that trend continuing. as we build those programs, airline travel will become even safer in the coming years.

>> reporter: united airlines says the incident experienced over the last week are distinct and unrelated to one another. a fairfield police officer is accused of exchanging inappropriate texts and photos with two underage high schoolers. officer james louis has been arrested. this comes after an independent investigation conducted by solano major crimes task force. louis was a school resource officer at rodriguez high. a student notified a parent about the alleged activity. the officer is facing three charges including contacting or communicating with a minor with the intent to commit a sex crime. louis was also placed on administrative leave. turning now to the situation of gaza on the eve of ramadan, the world food program is warning a quarter of the population of gaza is one step away. . and president biden is

now saying israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu is hurting them not helping civilians. on saturday the group code pink led a march across the golden gate bridge. they wanted to bring attention to the humanitarian crisis in gaza. today in palo alto, protesters also held a run for their lives event, to call for the release of hostages still being held by hamas. >> we gathered here together to empower these women. we are calling for action all over the world to release them and bring them home. >> the gaza health ministry says they have been killed since the war began. and being women and children. still ahead at 5:00,

story. >> reporter: the real fun of summer camp is feeling like you belong to a group. but in order to do that, they had to go through a pretty traumatic experience. >> hi everyone, welcome to camp. you can check in down here. >> reporter: on this day, it was more than just words and the whole concept behind this sunday, fun day. >> it's a day for them to have a free day of fun to be able to experience camp and be together in the camp environment. >> reporter: guests enjoyed all the usual activity from taking mountain hikes to archery, which 11-year-old calvin decided was harder in real life than in his video game, volumes one and two. >> i played both of them. >> reporter: and then there was

the 9-year-old who was determined to perfect the dynamics of the paper airplane. >> i think they would fly better, but i will improve them. i want to be an engineer and i like building things. >> reporter: it was in the camps building or rebuilding that it took on its importance. here they know something about overcoming challenges. almost the entire camp burned down during the 2017 fire. though it was a horrible experience, it also gave everyone a chance to re-examine their mission. >> there are things that are accessible. it doesn't mean they are actually inclusive or that it is really meant for people. to feel a part and like they belong. >> reporter: so soil was moved to flatten out the common areas to make it easier for wheelchairs and they are stuck off to the side while the ramps are front and center. encouraging everyone to use the same route. >> and the family is being able to easily get their child where they need to go, and it does

not take three people like it used to, to get them to where they need to go. and people who want to be on the ramp can be on the ramp. it's awesome. >> we rearranged all the things that we did, building back with dignity in mind. not just inclusion, but the sense of belonging. i think it has revolutionized what we are as well. >> reporter: that is something this mother named beth appreciated for her son, elon, and ethers. >> when you're a parent of the kid, you worry if they will be welcomed here. am i going to be judged? >> this is just important that our kids feel included and free and welcomed. parents feel that too. yes. >> reporter: caring for loved ones is a major challenge. wu they know all about challenges. they've risen from the ashes

with a commitment that no one else should have to go at it alone. a herd of goats is playing an important role in reducing wildfire risk in san diego near the city's gas and electric facility. chula vista police helped the herd of 220 brush clearing goats for their important work. they clear 400 to 600 acres of vegetation a year. a couple of new arrivals over the past few days, and these baby goats became a crowd favorite. san diego gas and electric say these happy goats are especially equipped to do the job. >> and really what is special, it will kill off the seeds when they eat them. when we are mowing, that will drop the seed. >> the goats are used as a part of their land services abatement program. they say it is effective to mitigate wildfire risk s. >> ever think of doing that in your backyard? >> no, no. i actually had a bad

experience where i saw one in marin county and they put these wire fences around these big plots of land. sorry, it's a bad story. let's not go there. >> we had a goat as a kid and wow, they did that goat thing. >> note to self, do not ask andrea about the goats, okay? we've got two more coming our way. we would look at the first one happening for tomorrow morning at the top of the newscast. just a little more inside on that and this next system coming our way, you can see one sitting off the coast right now. and if we come for a close up look at this, look at this area of low pressure here off the coast. and that is about to come on shore as i showed you the timing. and that this is a cold front that is coming through. in addition to getting the quarter of an inch

of rain, it will feel colder tomorrow morning. it is not dramatic, but we left off looking at daytime highs for the north bay, but you're starting in the mid to upper 30s. if you look at the numbers, i can't find a whole lot of other places that will be that cold. it will be in the mid-40s for oakland. a lot of mid-40s here. relatively cooler, but it's not terrible. it is just cooler than what you have been. all right, that will cover tomorrow. the details on the next system coming our way and for that and as we do, you will see that next system out over the pacific. that will get here late tomorrow. we'll watch this one arrive as we get through the later hours of monday. another cold front and another one that has timing

where the majority of the rain is going to come in under cover of darkness. you're going to see there are rain drops on tuesday. technically yes, it will rain on tuesday. but this will be done before sunrise. tuesday at 1:00 a.m. and some of this is moving across the best part of the bay. by the time we would get to 6:00 a.m., it will clear the south bay, done by that. you will even get more blue sky for the rest of tuesday. since there's a little bit of rain to be measured, we would get a tenth of an inch of rain here coming in through tuesday afternoon and that's about it from that one. so those are our two rainmakers. both of them combined are going to put down half a foot of new snow on donners pass. we wake up with 9 inches of snow up in donners pass and that is nothing

compared to the last storm. that is still enough to mess with the drive that will go from tonight at 10:00. doesn't expire until tuesday, taking into account both of those storms. if you have to travel in the sierra, heads up. chains will be needed. and they will be able to keep it open, likely delays at times up there and the chains will slow you down. we're watching the two systems pass. here is one thing that will happen after the second one leaves. notice how that storm moves east? watch the wind feel. as the second storm on monday leaves. on the back edge of it, something very spring like is going to develop. offshore winds. see the wind streams on here? look at the colors brighten up here. it won't be a terribly windy day. but watch what happens, you're going to drop. we're not in fire season yet. i think this is one point in the year where we could say there are not too many times here where

you could say that. but this is how you would start drying things out. right now the landscape is very green. but just so you know the pattern that will switch on wednesday is more spring like and there is a warm up coming with those offshore winds that will typically help warm the temperatures up. that's really the main point i'm trying to make here. we are bringing back the micro climate, spending the last three months. because there really isn't a big swing in micro climates in temperatures through november and february. but in march, you do start to see it. the forecast for inland parts of the bay. now look back here at daytime highs after the offshore winds will get us in the mid-70s. all right, vern, to you. straight ahead in sports, the last pac-12 women's title game and stanford was the favorite. he's off the market,

something. in fact we circle johnson's brother who jumps out of his seat, come down, jump over the scorers table in defense. six players were ejected for leaving the bench. the game was delayed for 20 minutes. south carolina won the game 79-72. and remain the only unbeaten team in all of division i basketball men or women. if it is iowa basketball, it's caitlin clark. she rallied the hawkeyes to force overtime over nebraska. clark took over. oh the stepback three. scoring 30 out of her 34 points after half time. and third ranked iowa won it 94-89, the hawkeyes third straight big ten tournament championship. nfl free agency begins tomorrow. but brock purdy is under contract, off the field. purdy and his long-time girlfriend, jenna, got married yesterday in iowa. all right, now bay area professional soccer. shout out to oakland roots. they won the
