with each other. >> moments of reflection and community responding to tragedy. the latest on a deadly crash and in infants fight to survive . police in san francisco reopen an investigation into a woman's death in the bayview. a civil rights group says this could have been a hate crime. fire at a high school in pleasanton. crews battling last night as flames tore through part of amador valley high school. the fire started just of the sunset sunday in a gymnasium that is said to be about 100 years old. the focus of a huge community. we got this video last night as a lot of you can to see what the smoke and sirens were about and you see the bright lights . despite the damage, there is an upside. if you see a firefighter this morning, say thank you. there fast were prevented the fire from spreading to newer parts of the school that served nearly 3000 students according to u.s. news. as we look at more video of the scene, despite the damage, school officials say

class is in session today because the damage was only contained to that one jim area. looking live at san francisco. follow up on a death on woman named yanfang wu. she was found on the ground bleeding in the bayview neighborhood last summer but there is an update. apparently video exist that is key to the case. san francisco police and the mayor say they want the video released , and so does the national civil rights group the asian justice movement. that group believes her death could be a homicide and could be a hate crime and successfully pressure police to give the case another look. they got it reopened. here is what give some power to their position, reportedly, a reporter from the sf standard uncovered the story of a woman pushing yanfang wu. and police reportedly arrested a woman last week accused of assaulting another elderly chinese woman. we will watch this story. following a corruption conviction the former chief of the san francisco public utilities commission will earn his sentence today. the jury found him accepting bribes in exchange for influencing public bidding process and steering

contract awards as well as bank fraud charges come according to the northern district of california. he could face up to 15 years in prison. we are off to a cloudy and cool start this morning but into this afternoon is a daytime highs start to rise, we will get rid of the clouds and it will be a mix of sun and partly cloudy skies at times into the santa clara valley where we are hitting the 70s today. just like yesterday and the day before. if you had a long 101 up into san francisco or even redwood city, it is just a little cooler. we look continue to see a daytime high with cooler weather in the next couple days. match that with wet conditions around the corner and we have rain and the forecast heading into this friday, saturday and sunday. but we have plenty of days ahead of that. it will stay driver is as we head into tuesday and wednesday with a mix of sun and clouds and the forecast as we wait for the system sitting just off shore to start forming and that will bring us a series of showers to heading into on friday forecast , saturday forecast, and that will pick up early next week.

with an inch of rain on average throughout the bay area. street safety advocates will hold a vigil tonight at the side of a horrific crash in san francisco. this was in westborough. at the news that a third victim from saturday's crash died. family and friends telling da lin the family was headed to the zoo at the time. to celebrate the parents wedding anniversary. >> reporter: there are two makeshift memorials on ulloa street. the main one of the bus stop and a smaller memorial about 60 feet away. we measured it. the crash happened over there but the impact, sent the toddler flying any landed and died right here. witnesses, neighbors and well-wishers dropped off flowers, stuffed animals, and toys at the bus stop. safety advocates left a white stroller and three pairs of shoes, one for each victim that died in the crash. she was among the many they came to pay her respects . she lives

across the street from the bus stop. she ran out when she heard the crash on saturday. >> it is very heartbreaking. very difficult for us to and see what we saw here yesterday. i am shaking just thinking about it. >> reporter: she had a hard time sleeping, thinking about the toddler who was in a stroller, thrown about 60 feet away from the bus stop. >> the stroller was clearly destroyed. he was still strapped in. >> reporter: the father landed about 70 to 80 feet away from the point of impact . witnesses say both victims were covered in blood and died at the scene. aromatics rushed the mom and a baby to the hospital. authorities say the mom died from her injuries . the infant is still suffering from life-threatening injuries. >> you just want to hug your kids closer and to be mindful of every single moment you have. with each other. >> reporter: of the victims close friends declined an on camera interview but should

the father is diego, 40 years old. the mother is 38 years old. and the toddler is about 1 1/2 years old and the infant is about two months old. both boys, friends say the family lives in the mission district. saturday was their wedding anniversary. they decided to take the bus to celebrate the anniversary with the boys at the san francisco zoo. >> how a car can be racing up fast and ending up taking out an entire bus stop. >> reporter: police are investigating. police believe the elderly driver of the white mercedes suv suffered from some kind of medical condition. police cannot confirm that. witnesses say she was going between 50 and 70 miles per hour. in the wrong direction. no signs of breaking and no skidmarks on ulloa street. >> saddened and disturbed and disheartened and we wanted to pay her respects. we brought five lilies in memory of them . the people who are died were injured. >> i really pray for the family and for everyone that has been

affected. >> reporter: many neighbors are praying the baby will survive and receive a lot of support. >> i am just unable to move forward and i need to have closure with what i saw. i cannot really and see the carnage that happened here yesterday. >> reporter: friends say diego was originally from brazil, his family is flying to the u.s. the wife, was originally from portugal. her family also flying to the bay area. as for the elderly driver, she is in stable condition. it is unclear if she will face any charges. >> the vigil tonight will happen around 5:00 p.m. all san francisco police upset about the case is they do not think traffic engineering was a factor in this case. traveling to get more comfortable in the near future. senator scott wiener and

this just in. israeli to force defenses said they killed hamas commander inside gaza city's main hospital. part of a new raid on the facility. the really soldier say one of theirs died during the operation. al jazeera said the idf or israeli defense forces detained a correspondent who was trying to cover the raid . we do not know the media outlet that correspondent was from. israel claims intelligence indicated hamas leaders we gathered and were redirecting attacks from the compound. the idf rated the same hospital in november saying hamas was hiding a command and control center under the building. a tunnel and some weapons were discovered then, although the insulation was not as elaborate as they initially claimed. it was cool and cloudy for us in the bay area this morning but the cloud layer pulls back like a blanket

along the coastline this afternoon. we are left with a mix of sun and clouds today with light winds heading into the evening hours tonight. speaking of this evening, that is when the blanket returns to the bay area, giving us a splash of showers along the coastline and called the conditions wake up tomorrow morning. it will repeat into tomorrow afternoon with sunnier skies in the distance . we will see that throughout most of this week. it is not until friday, saturday, and sunday where we see a big pivot in the forecast. rain chances are to increase as we head into the end of this weekend. it is looking a lot different compared to what we had the past two days. with all the beautiful sunshine and the 70s . here is the system that is bringing cooler weather for us and rainy skies around the corner. it is still developing. we can see it in the models all the way into wednesday . it is starting to circulate its way into the pacific northwest and in the bay area. we will get splashed with the same system. it is an area of low pressure and it is acting as a cold front and we

will to cooler temperatures, gustier conditions and wet conditions lasting into the weekend and early next weekend that is the same system bringing snow to the sierra. back in the bay, how much are we expecting to get? we are far out but it is worth noting the long-range models are showing close to half an inch of rain heading into by saturday forecast and we will continue to to them heading into sunday and monday, closer to an inch near ukiah. about a quarter of an inch all the way down into pockets of the east bay and santa clara valley. let's step back. we are not there yet, that is in the next seven days. today, it feels similar to yesterday. if you live in east bay or north bay we are hitting the 70s this afternoon. yesterday we saw 70s along the peninsula but today it is cooler. we will cool down day by day as we head into this weekend's forecast the upper 60s near redwood city today will potentially see upper 50s heading into this weekend. into the santa clara valley, 75 today. it will be beautiful near san jose. we so partly cloudy skies in the santa clara valley and we will see that throughout in a couple days. here is the cool down. upper

exchange. this morning leaders in the gaming industry are converging on the moscone center to kick off the game developers conference. this event is expected to bring in nearly 30,000 people in more than $40 million in revenue for the city. it will feature more than 700 discussions from critically acclaimed games . it runs through friday. the powerball jackpot is now at $645 million after no winner won on saturday night. there were smaller winners. three people in michigan, new jersey and south carolina got $1 million. the next powerball drawing will be held tonight. the mega millions is even higher. no winner announced on friday night, which means it is now shy of $1 million. $875 million. this was the 20th consecutive mega millions drawing with no ticket matching all the winning numbers. the next wrong is tomorrow night and hopefully you win. a reprieve for sports illustrated. the owner, authentic brands group, said it made a long-term deal with a british publisher, minute media. this follows what has been a tumultuous several

look at this beauty. the cherry blossoms reaching their peak bloom in our nation's capital . the national park service in washington, d.c., made the official determination on sunday. that means 70% of the yoshino cherry trees that line the national mall and the tidal basin are open. this is the second earliest bloom on record. tying a similar market from 2000. why? warmer temperatures helped trigger the early bloom. d.c. area had one of his warmest winters on record and last week temperatures were already in the 70s. sounds nice. that is it for the news at 9:00. next is "the drew barrymore show". actress kristen stewart stops by to talk about her new film. and
